I wasn't shocked when they announced that the next-gen consoles would receive the 'better' graphics because let's face it. Current-gen ain't getting them anytime soon. But like hell am I forking out £500 for a PS5 just so I can play with 'improved' graphics when they SHOULD be fixing the current version that we've supported for the last 4 years.
I get better performance and framerate on my 5 year old laptop which doesn't meet the minimum system requirements. I think the console versions of DBD are simply bad ports from the PC version. BHVR probably only released the game on consoles for a quick cash in...

As has been stated, all platforms will continue to be supported. With regard to the pinned message on the forums, I think it's going to be inevitable that the next gens are going to have improved graphics over the current gen, same as new gpu's on PC's.
@MandyTalk is there any update on console optimization please?

Graphic update is coming to current consoles.

Rip our framerate.

From Twitter. Continue to be updated doesn't necessarily mean fixing fps on ps4/Xbox one/switch, probably just the regular patches. Be nice if they would say if they are going to bother with optimization for those consoles or not because next gen.

If I'm not mistaken, the graphical update is not coming to current gen consoles?

This comment on DBD's latest YT video made my day.

I think we the players deserve an apology from BHVR, their response to the console performance issues has been absolutely terrible.

When someone completes a gen/gets hooked it can cause your frames to drop which can cause you to miss skill checks or die in middle of struggle.
If another survivor gets by a killer running sloppy butcher my game grinds to a halt causing me to miss a skillcheck whilst working on a generator.

If anyone knows any video game journalists please let me know.

This is legit, went to the thread to post a legit comment to see if it would bump back up and it doesnt.
######### it
@MandyTalk what is this? Yall are shutting down our threads and making them not bump back to page one even when its a legit thread with a legit reply.
What kind of censorship program yall running over here.
If yall arent planning on doing anything just say it then. That same old we dont got any new info is bull #########.
Id rather just hear yall say theres nothing our crappy inexperienced tech team can do about the problem and then we'll all stop bitching.
At this point in time we all know thats what its come down to.
If you guys wanted to fix it, it would be done. Simply put it wouldnt take 2 years to figure it out. Its just not even being worked on.
I would be grateful if they held their hands up and said console optimization is not happening, rather than blatantly ignoring us.
-
The mods are closing any discussion which mentions poor performance on console, they are actively censoring their own playerbase!
-
Please, sir, may I have some more (fps) please

yeah, if anything this is the main thing that upsets me.
Not the fact that Mods/Devs aren't responding.
Not the fact that they not only closed the thread, but black listed the topic "console framerate" from the forum (don't worry, this topic will get closed/silenced by the end of the day).
Not the fact that the only dramah inside the thread was caused by their answers or lack thereof.
But the fact that the thread was astoundingly respectful, overall "in-topic" and exceptionally self-moderated, for example our discouraging the promotion of review bombing that you just mentioned. If the problem was a couple of people "bumping" without real reason the thread (spoiler alert: until the frame rate issue is solved, there always will be a good reason to have the topic in the front page), they could have banned these users.
Instead they just didn't care about the entirety of the console community and closed a wonderful thread (...and banned the culprits anyway, because at that point why not).
But I'll be patient. Next tuesday we'll see how far patience can go, though.
EDIT: I'll make some tests to measure how fps have changed when the new patch comes out, which will be summarised in a video
If anybody wants to help with the performance tests contact me on discord: Nobsyde#3391
(I'm specifically looking for Xbox, Xbox X, PS4 Pro and Switch users)
I will lend a helping hand, I've added you on discord.

last time I saw it, it was about 900 comments. Was it closed? I always saw it at the top of the page and was very happy that players were continuing talking about it. If it was closed that is a massive yikes. Rip console players (me included)
A member bumped the post after a mod issued a warning and it was closed. It's such a shame as I liked reading the daily comments on there.

The discussion about poor performance on consoles that amassed over 1k comments was very civil and the mods were looking for any excuse to close it.

There was ONE warning to stay on topic, not several. One person after that warning bumped the post without any information on frames issue and it was immediately closed. It's a shame they jumped on first chance to close it and over a petty one at that.
So petty of them just because they don't like us expressing our opinions.

Yeah it's a shame, most of the comments on that thread were very civil.

I can see the mods deleted the thread that amassed 1k comments about poor performance on consoles...

I thought the aura changes played a part in the decrease in performance on PlayStation 4 but when they reverted the changes it made no difference. I just hope we don't get 10 - 15 FPS on all maps after the graphical update otherwise I will have no choice but to quit DBD for good.

It does not eliminate the framerate issues but it puts you on a level playing field as you are playing against console survivors so it's more fair.

I will never opt-in to cross-play as killer for as long as the framerate issues persist on PlayStation 4.

That’s like saying “imagine if my car salesman would divert their time to redoing my plumbing in my house”. Two different things. You could maybe argue diverting funds from cosmetic design to hiring people to work on optimization
Guys, here's another white knight coming to the rescue of the devs!

I find that comment from Pat condescending, it's obvious the devs already know about the framerate issues and have seen threads like this one countless times.

Asking anyone, have the devs posted any official replies besides that generic one in the earlier pages? Afaik there's no way to just read official replies and I can't bother sorting every response to locate. Just wondering if they announced any news yet. Thanks.
No official update as of yet, it's like they are giving us a big middle finger.

Right, so you think that a game that has been out for 4 years (3 Years console) that has so many bugs that they're now just features, they release a DLC every 3 months without fail resulting in more bugs, release cosmetics every other week and constantly ignore players actual feedback is fine? I've watched some of their Q&A streams and they literally cherry pick the yes/no questions. They blatantly ignore the legitimate questions about issues in the game. This whole thread is an example. Where has a Dev even spoken to anyone? I don't deny the game takes time and money to change but 4 years is no excuse. This game is basically EA. They want us to pay more and more for features they add, but where are the bug fixes we ask for? Where are the optimizations we need? You can't just release the game to consoles then decide you prefer PC better. We paid money for a game that should be in working order, yet it breaks more and more everyday. Console Optimization was promised to use LAST YEAR and where is it? Did we hear anything about it? No, which in turn annoys more and more people because of the lack of communication. If the devs actually just said 'We're working on it, here's X of what we've done', I 100% guarantee that everyone would accept it and be happy that we know at least something. The simple fact is, the Devs pick and choose what they remain silent over and what the scream from the heavens about. It's a complete joke.
Well said!

Not so simple. Again engine tweaks are time consuming and expensive. Hell, even console updates can be costly and they do those regularly. Many games can’t or won’t- go ask thefunpimps. That’s my whole point, what is being asked is neither easy or simple to accomplish, and I see no reason for bhvr to stop everything they’re doing, which would neglect their original platform, until the problem gets fixed. If it even will, frankly. Some realism needs to be factored in to the situation and making it out like the devs can clearly resolve this issue just because you see a steady stream of new content, well those are separate things and they’re not as cleanly connected as many people seem to think. I’m not joking, I just have a healthy understanding of how game design tends to work. They’re doing better than many others out there.
I don't see how this is relevant to the thread. The point is performance has taken a hit with every patch and we haven't had any update from BHVR regarding optimization since March 2019. The game is borderline playable on indoor maps which is unacceptable for an online only game in 2020.

Queue times slightly longer, i.e. not instant anymore. But that's fine, with xplay on as survivor those queues are much quicker so it's a net win
Maybe BHVR will wake up when they notice how many players have disabled cross-play due to framerate issues on console.

Even in terms of multiplayer games I play r6s as well which unlike dbd doesn't look like a PS2 game and my FPS there is stable + generally just under 60. It's not a hardware limitation, just a pretty good job so far.
Shhhh, don't give BHVR any ideas, they will blame the lack of optimization on hardware limitations lol

Still no official update from BHVR... We are blatantly being ignored.

I just want to find everyone of a very simple concept while we're on this topic, because there are those that seem to go with the sentiment "This is a PC game first, you should be happy you got anything at all"
No booboo, that's not how it works. They put themselves in a market they had no business getting into if they cannot figure out how console optimization works. We as the customer have a right to a working service, and as DBD is a games as a service model especially, they are copeable for the experience of their product, especially when considering haphazard decisions such as implementing cross play when optimization should have held easy priority over that.
Not only this, but you must remember, people have given hours of their lives away just to earn the money to buy this game and all it's DLC, which over time has outpriced the original game.
That's money that could have been saved for a rainy day, could have went towards bills, hell, could have been used towards charity, ANYTHING ELSE, but we chose as customers to pay for your product and the best solution most can come up with is "Buy it again" "get a PC" as of the answer is to throw more money at a game we've already spent plenty on... And let's be quite honest and clear, this game is Janky AF. It is not so technically demanding as to be impossible to properly implement on console, it's simply that BHVR don't know what they're doing a here and had no interest in investing money to trully get it working by bringing in someone who could have optimized long ago, they preferred to keep A steady stream of cash flowing with DLC and take more money.
And some will likely say we knew what we were getting into by buying a port game.. Which if this were the 90's I'd almost agree with. But this is 2020, and console's aren't some far off relative of PC anymore, that gap is starting to close and has been for almost 2 gens now.
Regardless of that fact, we paid. We paid money, and invested time, and I think that deserves a little more than "we're looking into it". I think this may be erring on the side of legal recourse, but I'm no lawyer.
This is a great comment, I agree with everything you have said.

Can't be because I've had this exact same bug with GF, and my controller is brand new. Something triggers a bug that causes killers to become a snail. Rarely happens, but it does. Theres also a Hag bug where she can cause an unhooked survivors camera to be off-centre and cause severe movement glitches.
I thought my controller was defective when this happened to me so I actually bought a new controller (i needed a new one anyway) and this still happens to me occasionally. I don't know how to reproduce this bug.

Not really, tbh.
Someone who preferred the Tier 3 Version will not have any other choice than using the new Tier 3-Version, while someone who used the Tier 1-Version, will simply have to upgrade the Perk. But there is no going back from Tier 3 to Tier 1.
I disagree with you but I respect your opinion.
-
I dusted off my 5 year old laptop and installed DBD on it last night out of curiosity more than anything. I was doubtful DBD would run well as the laptop did not meet the minimum specs but guess what... I got better framerate than the PlayStation 4, there was the occasional hiccup here and there but nothing worse than the console version.
To put it simply, i think the console versions of DBD are really bad ports and I don't think any patch will fix the issues we are facing.
I hope cross-progression comes to all current gen consoles at some point so I can make the permanent switch to PC.
-
It all comes down to preference, there's no right or wrong. The devs are gonna rework the perk so it caters to everyone.

I'm sure that wouldn't hurt the devs financially.
They would however notice if console players stopped buying DLCs and auric cells. And that will happen if the game becomes unplayable.
I see it as reputation damage which imo is more damaging than financial.

A very high number of constant complaints increases the chance of things being fixed, there have been several examples in the past.
However, I'm afraid the true problem is not that the devs don't want to work on optimization but that they simply don't know how to do it.
It's probably not unrealistic to think that performance will become gradually worse with the next patches so that the game becomes unplayable on consoles somewhen next year, and only the pc playerbase will remain.
If I'm not mistaken consumers in Australia can request a refund under Australian Consumer Law if a product is faulty, this includes digitial purchases. If the game literally becomes unplayable consumers may be able to exercise their right to a refund.
