In it’s current state it’s only useful for Clown. No one else really.

    *looks at avatar picture*

I wonder how you know that, lol.

    I’ve suggested this too.

Oh, and no reason for the aura reading to be temporarily disabled either.

Right. It’s a simple non-gamebreaking change that would enhance an otherwise niche and nearly useless perk.

  • The reason why stealth is frowned upon is because the majority of those players are trash at looping: the most important part of survivor gameplay.

It doesn’t matter if your team is working on gens.... if everyone is going down in 10-15 seconds no one will escape. Stealth has its place, but going OUT OF YOUR WAY to NEVER be spotted by the killer is detrimental to the team.

Sometimes you need to take aggro and even sacrifice a hook state in order for your team to all have a chance at getting out. Blendette players are typically extremely selfish and refuse to move a muscle unless they are 100% confident they will not be spotted.

I'm not going to stop playing killer. I just cant play it for to long. I think the underlying issue for me is I fear SWF way more than they fear me. When survivors start crossing the map to find me. Because they want to play loop and clicky clicky it just seems wrong. I though this was a horror game. I'm okay with a 2K balance. But Killers should atleast be respected if not feared. Otherwise the game seems like a sad joke.

Blood points is not going to motivate me to play more. But kudos to the OP for atleast trying to address the issue. There is a killer shortage.

    I can agree with this.

The toxic behavior of survivors is what usually gets me, and they only get to do it when they have those strong RNG loops that connect to each other and waste my time. Thankfully I can usually overcome those games here and there, but when I don’t it’s hella frustrating.

If I’m making bank in BPs I typically don’t mind as much.

  • @HellDescent said:

I wouldn't mind getting bonus 25% for each swf when they're present in a lobby

So 25% for a 2 man, 50% for 3, 75% for full 4-man? That’s cool, but I’d rather just have a consistent base increase regardless of SWF.

    @NoShinyPony said:

I'm a survivor main and I don't play a lot killer nowadays, just a bit for challenges & bloodpoints. If the amount of bp for killers would get increased significantly, I would play killer a bit more often.

Awesome, I’m sure a lot of folks share your sentiment.

It would take a fair chance to go against full tryhard survs... no more almost endless loops or pallets you need to break in order to avoid that god loop.. no more 50 pallets per map.. make loops unsafe for survs.. slower gen speed... ... no more 4x DS/DH/BT in one match to face against....

Now you gonna say "yeah sure, youre objective is to get a easy 4k"... well, i tell you its not. My objective is to have fun, doesnt matter if i get 1/2/3/4 kills... most of the matches if i manage to get the 4th, i let him escape anyways if he played good so far.

I agree, some maps will have insane window loops (Rancid, Ironworks, etc.) which need fixing. No argument there.

Yes, there are some maps with lots of pallets but a lot of them are unsafe (Badham).

A mistake a lot of killers make (myself included, at times) is committing too long to a chase. Break a pallet or two then leave the survivor and pressure a gen. You’ll notice that these “endless loops” won’t exist as much.

  • @Rex_Huin said:

Would need some substantial gameplay changes rather than bribery blood points to have me play killer again...

Oh, come on. How about you get an automatic 100K Bloodpoint Bonus for facecamping a full hook as Bubba? I can see it in your avatar’s eyes that you want that!

  • Solo queues aren’t bad, but God forbid I’m in a full SWF squad and it takes ages to find a match.

Allowing killers to properly setup (i.e. "gEn sPEeDs 2 fAst OmG") again so that killers can actively control the flow of the game again would be a good start. The reason you hear "gEn sPEeDs 2 fAst OmG" so often, is for the simple reason that it is true, and one of the main reasons that killer is currently so unfun that many people have quit playing it.

Corrupt Intervention can help if you feel like you can’t set up in time (obviously Trapper/Hag/maybe Demo).

If you’re a “set up first killer” I’d recommend smacking a couple of survivors if possible to apply some early pressure and buy time to place your web. They may choose to heal instead of doing gens so that’s some slowdown right there.

  • @JackaloMoss said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1124810#Comment_1124810

Obviously it isn't true for killers that still enjoy the role. Killers that still enjoy the role still play killer. But the majority of skilled killers don't still play killer, because they don't enjoy the role.

I maintain rank 1 killer easily, but I very rarely play anymore as there is no enjoyable or rewarding gameplay.

There is almost no micro gameplay/mechanics. Baring a very small number of exceptions such as nurse's blink, you have mechanics pretty much perfect after not that long, there is a very low skill ceiling for the mechanics of most killers.

There is now almost no macro play either. Previously a lot of killers could setup and at least attempt to make plays and control the flow of the game (even if it was usually controlled by the survivors), now there is very little opportunity to setup and there is almost no active play making as killer. Almost every move as killer is just reacting to the survivors, which could be fine (many games are largely reactionary and still fun), however there is almost always just 1 correct reaction to every play a survivor makes, and it's usually pretty obvious. By the time you're a high rank killer, you should be making the same, correct, reaction to almost every play a survivor makes, and the game purely comes down to waiting for survivors to make mistakes.

There is no difficulty in maintaining rank 1, at all, but it is incredibly boring as there is almost no gameplay to doing so. You practically follow a checklist.

What exactly would it take for killer gameplay to be your version of “fun” and “rewarding “?

I don’t agree with your comment at the end about following a checklist. The same can be said for survivor, which requires you to hold a button for 80 seconds or less per generator. I think playing survivor is a more boring role, but it can be made fun with friends (solo queue is incredibly frustrating to me).

I understand why you are asking a secondary function, because you are making the comparison to BBQ. Though I wouldn't be opposed to it, I understand why it lacks that functionality.

BBQ was created as a way to reward killers for doing their objective and I feel as though many say it was designed to help encourage killers to not camp.

WGLF doesn't reward survivors for playing their objective. I actually tells them to leave their objective and do something else. That is why I kinda liked the idea of adding those additional ways of earning stacks that are doing your objective. However, I think giving it the same secondary ability as BBQ will make it extremely over powerful.

As a matter of fact, doesn't steve have a perk that lets you you see the killer aura when you unhook someone? As I said, I am not entirely opposed to a secondary functionality, I am just not a fan of the aura reading being the secondary functionality.

    How about this?

For every “stack”, you get a 4% speed boost for 20 seconds?

  • @JackaloMoss said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1124792#Comment_1124792

It simply is true. That is the entire reason high ranked killers have almost entirely stopped playing killer. Because it is unfun and unrewarding.

That may be true for those killer players who are bad at the game and can’t handle not being spoon fed 3-4 kills per match, but it’s NOT true for actual skilled killers who still enjoy the role.

Let’s get back to the topic. I offered extra BPs as a suggestion, but what else besides balance changes (gEn sPEeDs 2 fAst OmG) would you think is a good idea to have people play killer/fix queue times?

  • I like the idea of having more options of obtaining stacks. A full heal or generator would be reasonable.

It also needs a secondary function like BBQ. Every time you unhook/heal a survivor you can see the killer’s aura for 4 seconds?

  • @JackaloMoss said:

No-one is not playing killer because they don't get enough BPs.

People aren't playing killer, because killer is unfun and unrewarding, there is no enjoyable gameplay to it, plain and simple.

That’s simply not true. I have fun as killer and it’s rewarding to see 4 skulls in the post game summary after a hard fought game. If I had to guess, I average 3.5 kills each match, so the game is definitely not unrewarding.

    @Peanits said:

I'm not sure if that would really be necessary. Killers do already get more points than survivors the vast majority of the time. Bundled with the fact that BBQ stacks are easier to get than WGLF stacks and you already get a huge amount of bloodpoints when playing killer.

Your game - DBD - has an issue of a lack of killer players. We need something to incentivize more people to play killer. Bloodpoints is something everyone likes, so why not give killer even more BPs than before since actual balance changes takes months or even years?

  • @brokedownpalace said:

The only time I wait that long for survivor is at like 2-4 in the morning. My queues are 5-7 minutes long.

    As solo or SWF?

I rarely play solo and typically am part of a 3-4 man squad. 10-15 minutes is usually the minimum, and sometimes more if the killer acts like a B and decides to lobby dodge.

  • @goat10em said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1124612#Comment_1124612

I agree to a point. But if you can't see that many killers have quit already then I don't think you're paying attention. When I play rank 1 killer I get games instantly and they are against red rank survivors. When I play rank 1 survivor I get games in about 10 minutes and they are against anything from red to yellow rank killers. People can talk about match making being messed up all they want but I don't see any other way to look at it other than there are just not enough killers to go around.

This is a straight up fact.

The majority of players don’t like playing killer, hence instant Killer queues and 15-20+ minute waiting for Survivors.

How can TT be spammed if there is no cooldown? They could have just made it apply after you down someone, after being hooked, or just having it not apply if you juggle someone, but instead you get an unnecessarily long cooldown down for a b tier perk.

Regarding game breaking bugs, I’ve only ever experienced the one I mentioned (basement hook glitch). I’ve also had the one where I can run “through” the exit gate without the escape proc, but at least EGC made sure I wasn’t stuck there forever :/

Never has my game crashed, I’m on XB1.

I just don't know what I'd do if that happened. Lets not pretend you aren't being petty if we want to mention maturity. My point still stands bud. DBD isnt stable.

If you can’t express your point without resorting to childish name calling then you won’t be taken seriously. Good day to you, bud.

  • I agree that people who are killer sided tend to be very emotional in their reactions/posts.

They expect to get spoon fed 3-4 kills every game without effort or the “game is too unbalanced towards survivors”. If you suck at the game then yes, you’re going to struggle getting kills. I think that’s where the difference in mindset lies:

Playing survivor is easier than killer, so obviously survivor players don’t get as impacted by killer buffs/survivor nerfs. The games are more chill, and you can even play with friends to have a good time.

When you play killer, you’re alone and have a “me against the world” mentality. You have to manage 4 survivors at once and sweat your balls off if it’s a good team. It CAN be done, but again it takes more skill than playing survivor. Any little killer nerf makes killer mains implode and whine. Good players are typically not impacted, but it seems like the majority of killer mains are not actually amazing at the game (talking zubat-level skill).

I play both and do well at both and so far no recent killer “nerfs” (Spirit, etc.) have ruined my killer experience. Survivors have actually received tons of nerfs (medkits, MoM, now toolboxes) but they’ll continue to perform well if they’re decent.

Where are these “so many killers with cooldowns”? The majority don’t.

  • This is too overpowered. Forcing survivors out is one thing, but a 60 second Exposed effect? No thanks.

I’d rather have Iron Maiden do this:

Whenever a survivor goes into a locker, they are trapped inside for 15/20/25 seconds. Once they exit the locker, a sound notification is given to the killer.

I'm addressing why you don't often see huntresses using iri heads (with infantry belt because if iri is in use almost every time a belt is also used), but we'll answer this as well. Why the hell not. First off people do DC against Billy, usually if they get steamrolled by him in the first seconds of a match. Billy cannot punish loops and vaults like a good huntress can. Good huntresses can also pick you off from a decent distance and you won't hear the hatchet coming like you would a Billy until it is too late. Lastly while you and I can dodge them 'pretty regularly' depending on the skill of the huntress - a lot of people cannot.

Huntress is 110 and can only have 3 max Iri Heads at once. Let’s say she downs her first survivor with 1... if all other 3 survivors are on gens she either goes strictly to another survivor who can potentially waste her remaining two or she reloads first and wastes time.

  • @Almo said:

I'll just comment on Static Blast. The idea was to make it a TR-wide detection device. So we did that. Now the question was, "how often can this happen and not be OPAF?" In early testing, it was 30 sec. That was way too short, so we tried 60 sec, and that felt much better.

SB was not given a huge cooldown because we wanted to have more huge cooldowns. It was given a huge cooldown after deciding what we wanted it to do, and then deciding what cooldown was appropriate.

Why do perks like Thrilling Tremors, Surge and Blood Echo have crazy cooldowns?

  • @JC316 said:

Those toolboxes are barely a nerf, it's pretty much just a brand new part and you get to keep the box after using it up. Oh and the OP sabo changes are also coming. What did killer get? A worse huntress and breakable walls on a single map.

Toolboxes were gutted, don’t kid yourself. I don’t see how “keeping the item” is a big deal. You could use 99% of the item’s charges before in order to keep it.

Facecamp Bubba is frustrating and needs some kind of counterplay other than leaving your teammate to die.

  • @darktrix said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1122889#Comment_1122889

Most huntresses won't use them. Not only are they not really fun for either side - people tend to disconnect immediately or just kill themselves on first hook when they learn they are in play.

Why don’t people DC against Billy? He’s way better than an Iri Huntress.

Hatchets can be dodged pretty regularly.

great logic tbh.. my man hasn't gone against it.. so it's fine

If it were ridiculously OP then it probably would have been addressed a while back. Prayer Bead Spirit was nerfed and rightfully so. That gen grab build was used by every other Spirit player, and it was way too easy to use.

Huntress hatchets take a little more skill. If anything I’d just limit to the max amount to 2 instead of 3 (infantry belt).

I don't see a lot of Sloppy Butcher in my matches. What does happen is that survivors usually run off after unhooking, so I much rather have Self Care than try to find survivors to heal me. Sometimes I do bring med kits, but eventually they will deplete and I like the convenience of SC.

I can see how Self Care is popular in casual solo survivor games (harder to coordinate healing), but it’s almost useless in SWF (which I play at red rank).

Self Caring just takes far too long versus healing once you have a teammate or two to do it for you.

  • @underlord99 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1122736#Comment_1122736

i mean there addons literally state that they decrease the cooldown, you also said that billy has a cooldown otherwise he would be the strongest killer.

    Going forward:

If a killer’s power is only useable when the red bar on the killer’s power icon is filled up, it’s a cooldown power.

Powers like Shred, setting Snares, Chainsaws don’t have to wait for a bar to fill up before they can use it again.

  • @MisterCremaster said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1122732#Comment_1122732

But you missed the point. You are saying, "I shouldn't have to wait 15-20 minutes for a fun even match", and thats true. Just go play killer, instant games. To deviate the match making to not be fair for the sake of time is stupid, since they are basically acknowledging the fact that they have far fewer players wanting to play "the power role". THATS what is making queue times so long.

I'm not saying it would be easy to balance it, but the idea of them simply hiding rank makes me think they're giving up.

I guess I could play killer and get instant matches, but I enjoy playing SWF equally. Waiting 15-20 minutes for ONE HALF of the game’s features (survivor gameplay) is ridiculous.

Seems like we agree that there is a shortage of killers (due to various reasons). If that’s the case, even if matchmaking was vastly improved we’d still get cases of red rank teams going against a green rank killer. The ratio is just too skewed towards the number of survivors at the moment.

  • @underlord99 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1122719#Comment_1122719

still technically cooldowns, im not saying that they are good or bad im just stating that you missed a couple of cooldowns.

They’re not cooldowns because you don’t have to wait for that little red square bar to fill back up like on Nurse’s blinks or Doc’s static blast.

If you want to be super technical, all M1 attacks have a cooldown too.

  • @MisterCremaster said:

If you don't want to sit in a lobby for 15-20 minutes go play killer... because killer is consistently not as enjoyable an experience, and you know that.

I do play killer and enjoy it. Yeah, I agree that it’s a much more sweaty experience (at times) compared to survivor but that’s part of the fun. It’s challenging. I wouldn’t have fun murdering yellow rank players every game.

  • @underlord99 said:

@Rey_512 so half of the killer roster technically has some form of "Cooldown".

Billy and Bubba’s “cooldowns” are inconsequential, they’re like missing an M1 attack.

I agree with this, except for #2. I don't have Urban Evasion so I can't comment on that, but I see nothing wrong with someone using it. I would say that under NO circumstances should No Mither be used, you're just a liability to the other survivors.

You know that Self Caring with Sloppy Butcher (a very common perk) activated takes a ridiculous 40 seconds or something to heal, right? It’s undoubtedly better to take a medkit or something like Inner Strength, or even Bond to find teammates that can heal you.

  • @toxcitynacl said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1122663#Comment_1122663

I run UE and there is nothing wrong with that perk as long as you actually go and do things. Self-care is useful but without a medkit painfully slow and if he has sloppy butcher makes it even worse. I prefer to bring a med kit as a crutch and then run inner strength and detective's hunch--it has the added bonus of making you do totems, of course I go after them anyway with reckless abandon. Nothing better for some killer to bring in NOED and you kill all his totems before it can activate or better yet he has two or three hex perks and you kill them all reducing him to a one perk killer. And if a survivor is being chased I would hope I'd have already UE'ed over to a gen someplace.

My SWF squad never runs it because it’s a waste of time crouching everywhere. Fixated is slightly faster (right?) and let’s you see your scratch marks while healthy, which has great synergy with Sprint Burst.

Detective’s + Inner Strength is amazing.

That is such an entitled survivor mentality. You're literally saying that you don't care if killer has a fair and fun match, only that you get an easy game and don't have to wait. How about we move killer base speed to 5.0ms, make NOED/old ruin non hex and basekit, and revert the nurse/spirit changes? I mean, who cares if survivors get a fair match right? Just get better and enjoy getting stomped every single game. Play through it and learn from your mistakes.

Me: Talks about how I’ve learned to be a better killer by playing good survivors.

You: Says I have an entitled survivor mentality.

Have you ever played FPS games? You can suck at Call of Duty because your aim is trash BUT still have fun. Why is DBD any different? It’s an asymmetrical game so it’s obviously harder to balance, but it’s ultimately a casual game. Either have fun with it/learn to play better or quit.

    I'll answer each:

    1) I agree, I do run fixated though, it helps loop the killer and then POOF "where TH did he go?!"

    2) Yes, I preffer another perk that aids the team or me at the cost of me bringging a med kit

    3) LMAO, you have no idea how many times I've encountered this

    4) That's why I run fixated, the combo of fixated + Sprintburst is amazing, either you fixate and move fast AH traversing the map and Sprintburst if by any chance he sees me or I just use SB and fixate as I get to a corner, the killers lose me every time

Fixated is infinitely superior to Urban Evasion.

  • 1) Don’t run Urban Evasion. Learn to loop, hide better or just start running to a safer area.

    2) Don’t run Self Care. Bring a medkit instead.

    3) If you see that a survivor is getting chased, you no longer have an excuse to play stealthy and walk/crouch.

    4) Don’t let the killer generate pressure because you wan’t to “save” your Sprint Burst while going to the next gen or making a hook save.
