Dead by Daylight will be fine . There's more noob lower level players than red rank players and this is why the balance will never happen . I play with some people that can't get past rank 15 because they're casual players that run in a straight line when getting chased by a wraith . I know a lot of people will say then they need to git gud, but they don't care if they git gud . They want to hop on, play a few rounds and hope they make it out if the gates . I'm guessing 80% of the player base is this . They're not going make changes that makes those 80% put the game down . Maybe 80% is a lil high, but I don't think it's too far off . So us red rank players have some serious and legit complaints, but we are the minority. It will remain survivor powered . Also there's more survivor mains than killer .

And none of them are on the forums. Can't blame them. That's why there should be a separation between ranked and "quick play" like matches similar to Overwatch.

Maybe only allow SWF in ranked (with solo queuers that want to play competitively) and have designated rules & mechanics balanced around that level of play.

    Idk

    Also, who's marth88

  • I'm surprised it isn't fixed yet.

    SoonTM

  • For some reason I'm getting a connection error

  • Anything over 90 ping I leave, but it's not frequent

  • I like it yo, it's like rolling dices with my perks because some of them work better with certain killers.

And killers should be allowed to prepare properly. It's an ancient legend that killers were once the power role..

  • @Peanits

Do you know if they're bringing the old menu music back with this event? If not, could you find out?

  • YESSSS as a survivor, it'd be super fun and give incentive to complete that "second objective"

I'd LOVE! to play against that.

I see the logic here.....?

There is logic. Finding ways to bring solo to SWF level and then to buff Killers around that level of play seems logical.

Explain to me how it isn't? :P

Well, that's before the game went in the direction it did I guess.

There's enough Survivors whose Perks don't synergise.
Jake's Saboteur is the odd one out.
Nea's Streetwise is the odd one out.
Laurie's Decisive Strike is the odd one out.
    Etc. etc.

On a sidenote, if that were the reason for the devs to not go through with it, i'd heavily disagree.

    True :P

  • I don't necessarily think it's a problem, considering most people complain that everyone loops and such. Maybe you should appreciate the stealth approach.

Stop generalizing such a small portion of survivors. Just get the [BAD WORD] along.

Survivor nerfs/killer buffs are basically the same thing you're just arguing semantics.

They aren't, and if I need to explain that then that's your problem.

Like I said, survivors are going to be buffed to SWF potential, and then killers will be buffed accordingly.

Exhaustion was a nerf to survivors but in no way effected the way the Killer system works? There were no changes to Killer in how ANYTHING works when exhaustion was changed. Not a buff to killers.

  • No.

If only hex perks were viable tho.

I can't even understand why hex perks still exist because they are pointless. They are too ineffective, as a survivor I still work through Ruin and pop the gens. I let the weak minded look for the totem.

Though, I think for the Third Seal and Devour Hope, they should work like NoED and only activate as a hex when the perks activates. Imagine how much of a buff to Devour that'd be?

As long as you make a hex perks that is meant to stay for more than a few seconds in the game, and to "get stacks over the time", it's just a bad idea anyway. Mostly because, at some point, you need to hook people in order to win. And when you hook people, you usually take more than 16s to just carry and get through the animation, which is enough for anyone to cleanse your totem even if you closely guard it, in most cases.

If NoED didn't exist, then they probably wouldn't have such a hard time coming up with a rework.

I doubt they're aware that much.
Recently (2 days ago), I've seen a dev saying that using Insidious to guard totems was a good option.
That's how clueless these guys are.

    Wow, really?

That's...... shameful to suggest..... in the current balance too....

Did you actually watch the Q&A? The stuff they are planing to do is just insane

fixing some animations and adding trapper buffer? Kindred 3 might be a bit excessive, but It might balance solo play vs swfs. was there something else they talked about in Q&A3 I missed?

Just the bloodlust changes. They're planning on reducing BL2 from +0.6m/s to +0.4m/s, and BL3 from +1.2m/s to +0.6m/s. BL1 remains untouched.

Still not really a massive change, I would say, since BL2/3 rarely if ever activate. Bloodlust doesn't really do much against looping, it only really stands to punish survivors who are actually using windows and LOS blockers to mindgame and gain distance (which in my eyes, if they can consistently mindgame me to gain distance and avoid me for 45 seconds, they're just straight up better than me and I don't deserve a free hit).

This would, of course, go to PTB before going live.

I'm honestly just happy about the pallet animations reverting, tired of seeing my character do a laggy spin before throwing a pallet and getting hit due to the extra frames for the animation to complete.

That "laggy spin" gave the killer more possibility to mindgame at a pallet. By removing that, throwing down a pallet just becomes a reaction thing and makes looping easier. The only way to still have a mindgame at a pallet will be by having a download in the background...... well, not sure whether I like that....

how is a survivor having an uncontrollable lag animation a mindgame? It's always been a reaction and timing thing but since there's animation lag it becomes unreliable. I've seen my character do uncontrollable 360 spins at the pallet when I hit space since the patch and always get hit if I slam the pallet before the killer even lunges. You can't even time out huntress throwing axes with pallet interaction anymore since survivor hitboxes got way bigger. The animations are so slow that a nurse can blink on a pallet and swing and hit before the pallet hit detects, and they are already in stun animation from their dash so it just becomes a wasted pallet throw. That's one issue killers don't really get, the devs are designing the game for it easier for us to get hit, and we're complaining about laggy animation glitches. I'm hoping they fix more of these with cosmetics, cause Feng and Kate and even the Clown are unreliable to play when their hair glitches out, it literally leaves a hair stream of where they are heading to if the killer/survivor sees it.

It is not uncontrollable, it just is a delay you have to calcualte in. How does it come I dont have problems with that when I play survivor?

But yeah, I guess its a good idea to buff looping, the most broken mechanic in the game if you ask me

And completely ignore the fact that it's still a problem that shouldn't be happening. Yeah, okay..

He had a valid point. You shouldn't get a hit if it isn't supposed to happen but does anyway?

anyway, loops are the problem, and pallets are even buggier. But whatever.

And reaching Rank 1 as a solo queuer, i'd like to think means you're skilled...

The assumption every survivor is trash and the game boosts them is old. That's only the case with SWF.

  • Dear RSB

We still made a 4 escape with your broken tinkerer,

With all and everything, but love, broken balance. <3

  • Will they get rid of this horrible clown music finally too...???????

  • I'm pretty sure a full moon does represent the allowance of "magical" works to be bounded.

If you are really into spirituality, a full moon is really important. I'm also sure in a lot of cultures where spells are very common, spells and witchwork often require the harvest of natural power, and a full moon offers such.

Sounds childish, but this would mean that The Entity's Realm has to be bound to the moon somehow to allow the realms to be created.

I can't get that much into The Nexus and all that though, I'll have a headache.

  • I'm still wanting this.

  • Get rid of all the pallets.

Only have the important ones like the cow tree and killer shack + main buildings. That leaves it to about 5 pallets.

Remove loops, and offer a new way to juke the killer (similar to jungle gyms) but that won't be a system that's highly abused such as pallet looping.

Make the maps an actual ######### maze for god sake so theyre actually fun

One that tries to be objective and another that reflects the majority of this forum just for fun?

I agree with OP, but I still think the devs need to adjust some other things first before their planned changes come to the live build.

    PTBs not out.

The whole point of the PTB is to test, adjust, and make a conclusion of what to release to live and what not.

As a matter of fact tho :
People do not truly test on the PTB.
The PTB mostly goes down under a few days because it has no incencitive.
People just exploit the fact they don't lose items and add-ons to play full try hard on the PTB. (Example, full BNP in the clown PTB, or Nurse with Ebony Mori and full add-ons even tho none of these have been changed in the patch.)
Aaaaand finally, and not the least, most changes just go live as THEY wanted them, not as PEOPLE wanted them.

You're absolutely right, and it's very problematic.

I noticed that when I went on PTB to test, everybody went really tryhard and full blown as I'm running around like a lost puppy testing everything I can, kind of dicking around doing random stuff seeing how everything works and form an opinion on changes.

Sigh. So many problems, and alot of them are ironically player-based caused.

You seem to be very optimistic regarding the changes. Maybe we´ll have another chat, when every match takes 3 minutes. Since survivors can focus on gens and don´t lose any time by checking the hook if someone else goes.
It will be as simple as the solution to camping: survivors will rush gens.

But this was already possible by coordinated SWF or good playing Solo Surivors in general. The Gen/Chase-Pacing is one of the main issues of the game already. By making Kindred standard the issue becomes more frequent, which forces the devs to find a way to fix it, if they don't want to loose too much of the killer playerbase.
They even talked about it during the Q&A. Problem is that they don't want to increase gen time and want to find a way around it. That was probably the main reason why the speed up pickup time e.g. My personal wish/solution would be that they make 80% of windows and pallets locked at start of the game, so they have to work to gain their map control.

I don´t think the devs are fully aware of what this change will cause. They want to make solo players as strong as SWF. But SWF is simply OP. Survivors will be more efficient than ever. In order to compensate this, devs would have to either nerf survivors hard (won´t happen, because they fear the review bomb) or buff killers hard (never happend and i doubt that they start it now).

What they need to do if they bring solo to SWF level is to then balance around SWF

When killers are significantly weaker than the other side that's exactly what it means.

When one side is lower you don't raise the other to become even higher. You level the field.

You bring one side down or keep it where it's at while only touching the other until they're even.

No?...Because clipping through everything would remove the survivors advantage...That'd be OP. Like Nurse.

    SWF?

Complaints have to do with SWF, cause obviously it's broken. Solo queue'd games are not.

Don´t worry. With the upcoming nerfs to killers. Solo survivors will be as broken as SWF.

Yup, cause whenever survivors are touched you all start a protesting march. How dare they not nerf survivors more.

Look buddy. I was a killer main and almost completely stopped playing killer. I find survivor incredible easy and powerful. I reached rank 1 without any perks. All playing solo. So please spare me the "survivors are weak" bullshit. Last 10 matches i played solo, i escaped 8 times. I don´t use SB, SC, DS, DH or flashlights. I play mainly with Meg and David.

Killers have been nerfed hard in the last 2 years. While survivors have been nerfbuffed. Whenever a survivor perk gets nerfed on one side, it gets buffed on the other. SC got a reduced heal bonus for medkits, but every lvl of it heals the same amount. BT doesn´t protect the rescuer anymore, but he can use it as often as he wants.

Whenever a killer perk got nerfed, it was nerfed for good. No buff to compensate on the other side. So if you think killer is OP, then start playing killer on high ranks.

The upcoming changes will hit killers hard and solo survivors will be as time efficient as SWF teams. 3 minute matches will be the new norm. Oh and killers will have difficulties to rank up with those short matches.

The last survivor nerf was a minor one. Most of the survivors don´t even use SB twice in a chase. Or flashlight save every survivor. But survivors started to review bomb DbD.
So much for the "whiny killers that want even more survivor nerfs"

Never said survivors are weak, but hands fly when they do anything remotely in survivors favour. Never said Killers OP.

What's with everyone putting words in each other mouths?

Oh so you recognize that survivors are strong but still think it´s a good idea to buff them more.

I think the proposed changes are not game changing nor problematic. It seems pretty fair you can't down a farmed hook instantly and the survivor that was unhooked having 0 control over it.

Also, removing exhaustion on a hook won't do #########. Anyone who's a good survivor knows to bring Dead Hard over Sprint Burst, and besides it's not like by that point exhaustion isn't recovered...

It's literally a simple QoL change for ######### survivors. Why is everyone so against it? They're such small buffs that it won't change #########.

Missed the changes to BL and inbuild Kindred? Those are the changes that will really hurt the killers.
Sprint Burst will be meta again, since survivors can use straight from the hook. Killers won´t be able to defend that hook or survivor. But thats only a minor issue compared to kindred.

I can't agree with the BL changes. I always thought it was necessary for the killers.

Built-in Kindred seems like a proposed balance change on behalf of solo queuers. As one, it would only be such a minor buff. Trust me. Although it will make the perk useless, so idk

Imagine that you solo and the killer hooks someone. Kindred kicks in and you see every survivor. You decide to stay on the gen, because someone else is closer. You don´t waste time to reach the hook, just to see someone else unhook. You can play more time efficient. If you equip Empathy or Bond, you´ll even see when the killer is chasing someone. You won´t waste any time, because you´ll know exactly where everyone is. You do your gens and get out as fast as possible.

Get over it at this point

I don't care enough for the proposed changes, as a solo queuer I can't complain because it definitely helps with our balance but sadly SWF balance should be more focused than us solo queues.

Since it'll be in the PTB, once I experience the changes perhaps I'll form a real opinion.

Edit: I don't like the proposed BL changes though. I thought BL is well needed in the state it's in for Killers.

So if Survivors had all the advantages they currently do with the exception of Killers being able to clip through all solid objects Survivors would still need a nerf?

No?...Because clipping through everything would remove the survivors advantage...That'd be OP. Like Nurse.

    What about gen rushing?
    What about stuns?
    What about DS?
    SB?
    SC?
    SWF?

If you’re going to be straight about it, Survs still have an advantage, just not in chases. But how can Survs and Killers be on a level playing field if the balancing is centered around keeping a brokenly OP aspect of the “lesser” side?

You clearly haven't seen a solo queue'd game.

    Neither have you.

I only play this solo so that's a failed attempt at whatever the hell your point is

When killers are significantly weaker than the other side that's exactly what it means.

  • Self care isnt even OP, but ds needs a nerf

Coordinate with survivors to all run less hook offerings and sabo squad

Sabo needs an update though because it's a pointless objective. Though, I can't lie one time I went solo sabo and saved atleast 6 hooks from happening. So in that case, my lord it was powerful.

I gotta agree with the fact though if a survivor got downed, they should and deserve that hook unless they do something dumb or survivors intervene.

  • @Bravo0413 said:
Whenever these types of changes come up I always think to myself "if swf weren't a thing these changes would not have to be made" it's simply because of the coordination that these changes have to happen... so yes I agree insta heals should be like the BNP... give them a series of difficult skillchecks that when they hit 2 the health state is is complete then for the ultra give them 3 difficult skillchecks to fully heal the downed survivor.. fail one addon will be consumed no loss of item..

Wait. You gave me an idea.

What if they were to limit the uses of certain items and add ons if you're in SWF? I mean, coding wise it'd seem possible.

Survivors are upset about the things you just said. They have this delusion that they're meant to be the power role.

And this is what the bigger problem is: This whole Survivor vs. Killer propaganda.

Want to know the biggest reason this game seems to be in hell? Is because everyone can't seem to get along, it's always a he said she said kind of situation and it's even more sad that I have to point it out.

Anyway, who cares if they're upset. Go play your game and have fun.

  • @Hillbilly420 said:
I think they should just be removed personally.

Then I'd like Myers unlimited instadown and instadown hatchets to be removed then

  • I personally think Hillbilly's perfect and doesn't need to be updated simply because his power seems so well-balanced its results haven't really been changing throughout the updates.

Infact, he's getting better add-ons (or atleast planned)

I love going against a Hillbilly, seems like a fair challenge.

  • Did you hook them x3 each?

You're confused that killers can reach through open windows? :/

    We're talking game mechanics.

Anyway, this happens because of latency and the peer to peer crapshit we got

The hit still connects through the cone for some reason.
