  • Reason number 451 as to why I refuse to believe the devs actually play the game at any serious level.

You could slug now with colourophobia and be more effective. I don't care about the lore, I care about functionality.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1461362#Comment_1461362

It would be a slight camping buff, but I don't know that many killers that enjoy camping, they do it as a last resort. Again, don't care about the lore, they've changed perks entirely, see ruin.

Uhhh. What does Coulrophobia have to do with anything? It's not about keeping people slugged, it's about keeping the 25% regression penalty.

How about aiming to keep it thematic and functional?

  • I'd run that and just slug everyone. It also doesn't quite thematically fit the name of the perk. The whole point is you're building dread by slowly killing their hope. Personally I think the obsession dying shouldn't deactivate the penalty you've built up. It should just keep you from gaining more stacks akin to STBFL.

  • The addon is pretty bad as is. I don't see the point in nerfing it more.

  • Pop should be slightly nerfed and other slowdown perks should be slightly buffed to encourage more build diversity.

  • My issue with SWF will always be the absurd amount of free information given to a group without any downsides. The amount of aura perks you get and the amount of perks you make useless for killer is staggering. Even a 4 man group of memeing trashcans still get a mountain of free information.

  • I really don't want this game to devolve into absurdity more than it already has. The last thing I want is the killer to start doing dumb gestures, they already have out of place meme outfits. This goes for survivors too, please no more gestures.

  • Why Legion loses their power after M1ing is beyond me.

  • I'm not sure why they haven't went back and fixed totem spawns to be more in line with Lery's and less like Crotus. The devs seem to put things off in a puzzling way, but I suppose I'm not there so I don't understand the way they do things.

  • NOED just needs to be reworked, honestly. It's a badly designed perk and should have what it's used for changed.

NOED is no longer a hex perk. NOED reveals the aura of the hatch to you once it appears. When there is one survivor left alive, they are exposed and their aura is shown to you for 5 seconds. Every 20 seconds their aura is shown for 3 seconds. You may kill the final survivor by your hands.

Now it secures you the 4k rather than handing you random kills after playing badly.

Sounds work for me on PS4. Also, killers can still hear the grass move.

    Actually, no, they sometimes can't.

  • I'd suggest doing them in this order assuming you don't yet have any of the DLC.

    David.

WGLF and Dead Hard are solid options and WGLF aids in the grind. Combined with Borrowed Time from Bill you'll get at least 50% more BP every match if you put any effort in so he should be first. DO NOT USE NO MITHER.

    Bill.

Unbreakable and Borrowed Time are super meta. DO NOT USE LEFT BEHIND.

    Meg.

Sprint Burst is strong, QNQ is okay and Adrenaline is solid. If I had to pick one survivor who had all usable perks but nothing absolutely broken, I'd pick Meg.

Free survivors to avoid leveling first in no particular order.

    Nea

While Balanced Landing can be good, most maps it just falls flat one. Streetwise is borderline useless. Urban Evasion is decent, but avoiding the killer doesn't really earn you any points and you should aim to get better at chases at the start of your dbd career over hiding.

    Jake

Sabo is trash. Calm Spirit is only good against Doctor and Infectious Fright users. Iron Will is amazing, but I don't feel like it's worth it until you get deeper into the game and grow more experienced. I'd say that aiming for Iron Will first out of all the 'bad' survivors is your best bet.

    Claudette

Empathy is her only good perk in my opinion. Self Care wastes so much time, but has its uses. I think Self Care is similar to Urban Evasion in that it promotes a playstyle you should avoid playing as a new player. Botany Knowledge is just lackluster. WMI isn't up all the time but works waaaayyyy better. I think aside from Jake's Iron Will, Claud should be the first of the 'bad' survivors you level. Her perks are all at least usable.

    Dwight

Leader is bad. Prove Thyself is okay if you want to group up and crank out gens, but just isn't worth the slot while you're new. Bond is good, but isn't worth spending all your points to get it. He's similar to Claudette in that the one perk he has that's good isn't worth the investment.

  • I honestly don't see a problem with him but the simplest nerf would just be to increase the slow to his movement speed when aiming down sights. Make him not be able to spam aiming to get free distance.

As is his projectile feels wonky to shoot and pallets are mega safe so I think he's fine.

  • Pretty sure they removed all grabs a year or so ago.

  • I check if they're currently streaming. If they are I vs them and make sure to play as scummy as possible without completely tunneling/mori'ing/camping them. I then go and watch the gameplay and listen to them scream and cry about how lame or ######### I am at Killer. Most streamers are very average players so it usually works out in my favor.

Would it make you swap any perks out of your load out though, think it like that. Its nothing compared to stuff like exhaustion perks, DS, Unbreakable etc. Also it's a good thing to make solo queue players closer to SWF players. Devs can't nerf SWF communicating with each other, so the only thing they can do it buff solo queue and killers to balance it.

Yeah, I would take this as a solo survivor who doesn't use DS, Unbreakable or Deadhard.

I am for buffing solo survivors, but I think this perk is just too good. Besides, imo, buffing solo survivor by giving them perks isn't what they should do. This just means solo survivors now have to take Kindred AND this perk to gain what a SWF has, that's two perks just to gain what discord gives other people.

  • I think this would be a fine buff.

  • That gives too much info to survivors, it's one of the huge reasons why SWF is so hated.

  • I'd take any slowdown perk over Lightborn. Face a wall, slug or fake the pickup almost always works. Flashlights really aren't that big of a deal.

  • Boring as balls to play against but incredibly useful for killers. While I hate being slugged, I could never hate on a killer for doing it.

  • Funnily enough I ONLY got her pants. Maybe they're yours?

  • It's a crutch perk I lean on so hard I'm surprised I haven't snapped it in half.

But honestly it has always been a solid perk, people have just been waking up to it this last 6 months or so upon realizing they don't NEED the big meta baddies.

  • M&A, STBFL and then literally just fill in the last two with what you want more of. Looking for tracking? Whispers, BBQ, Thrilling, Discordance. Looking for slowdown? Pop or thrilling. Looking to mine salt? NOED. MYC is underrated on him imo.

    I completely agree.

However, having said that, Deja Vu is literally a bad version of Detective's Hunch. I don't think there is any perks in the game that are so FREAKING similar.

I would say remove Deja Vu because we have Detectives Hunch and it's the same perk but better.

It should probably just be reworked somehow. Not sure in what way, but it's just not a good perk and I don't think any amount of changes will actually fix it.

  • Okay. It's not horror but...

    Hotline Miami

Jacket as the Killer with mask swapping/weapon swapping.

  • 80% of perks in the game need a buff. The remaining 20% need a nerf. Welcome to DBD.

  • Nah, I don't think so. Diversion is used incorrectly 99% of the time. People use it when they're in sight or the killer is dead set on checking a gen for a survivor. It should only be used when the killer doesn't see any survivors and they're coming towards your area. Toss it at a jungle gym or near a cluster of lockers and the killer will almost always go to check it out.

Not that it's a good perk or anything, but I've never seen it used correctly.

  • I think making dailies give bonus shards is a good idea. The rest of them feel like too much.

I haven't bought any rifts aside from the first one because of the rather lackluster rewards, including the free line being pretty MEH.

I love Aftercare. The amount of information it can give, but at the cost of a massive amount of skill, is invaluable in a match. It also gives information back to the other survivors.

I adore Aftercare since I almost exclusively play survivor as a solo player.

On Killer I really like Make Your Choice and Surveillance (without ruin or surge). They're both used, but I think they could be used more.

I just got the Demogorgon and barring a few ######### messaging me about how I'm a high ranked killer but I suck so therefore I must boost or some #########, it's been an interesting few games.

What I want to talk about though is his power, The Surge. For those that don't know...

"Putting a survivor in a dying state with a basic attack causes all generators within a 32 meter radius to instantly explode and regress 8%"

This perk seems super awesome but no one ever seems to use it or even really talk about it and I'm curious why. I've only played the handful of games with Demo so maybe it's one of those perks that seem good until you've used it a few times or maybe there are similar but better perks (I've only been playing a few month so a lot of perks I just don't have unlocked) or maybe just no one likes poor Demo because he's not a Top Tier Killer so everyone has ignored his perks.

What are your thoughts on Surge?

If the perk didn't have a basic attack requirement and didn't have a cooldown it might become a viable alternative to Pop. I have no idea why they make these perks and then slap a cooldown on them, punishing you for doing well.

  • I really hate how often people describe powerful things as boring.

"This [blank] is too good so it's so boring to play against!"

Boring feels like an empty buzzword now because it just applies to anything that makes someone play differently. I see it used by survivors all the time to describe anything that isn't:

*run around pallet and drop and run to next one*

  • Yeah, it's all sorts of buggered. Avoid using the addon and I'm sure once bhvr gets around to fixing the map being garbage they'll also get around to fixing the offering bug.

  • @thrawn3054 said:

I wish there were stats period. Like total number of games played, lifetime escape rate, things like that.

The game actually keeps track of a lot of things. Anything that's an achievement has an internal counter; chainsawed, trapped, blink hit etc.

The only way I've been told how to view it is using a third party program, which isn't exactly okay.

My point is that this would definitely be possible.

  • I don't think I've ever gotten to BL 2 or 3 without purposefully getting to it at a super safe loop when the last survivor is looping it. Mostly just because I find it funny. Usually BL 1 kicks in right as I'm about to smack someone so it pretty much does nothing. I straight up don't notice it come into play when I'm survivor either, so I don't see it being some kind of problem.

Until the maps are actually fixed, I don't see an issue with it existing.

  • 'Member when there were different rarities of map offerings? I 'member.

I don't like the idea of showing the killer who's in a SWF. SWF are occasionally those flashlight clicking hit squads, but they're usually just people trying to have fun with their friends. They're often overly altruistic, have big disparities in skill, and really not much better than solo queue players. Identifying the SWF players just gives the killer an excuse to mori/tunnel/BM SWF players or to dodge lobbies entirely, none of which is healthy for the game.

I like the idea of buffing solo queue and buffing killer a bit to compensate, though!

I don't think hiding that there are groups with advantages is healthy for the game either. Knowing someone you're in a chase with can tell everyone else they're free to work on gens is a huge help. Keeping that hidden hurts killers massively.

As of right now, a killer who really wants to check for SWF can, it's just time consuming and makes you click through profiles.

  • The only issue with SWFs is the fact that grouping with people invalidates a lot of Survivor perks. You get all sorts of free information you'd otherwise have to get from spending a perk slot. For the health of the game I think SWF is needed and punishing people for playing with their friends feels bad, but I'm honestly lost at what could be done to make it feel fairer.

I've heard people suggest buffing solo play and then buffing killer accordingly which sounds like a fair idea. At the very least killer's should know who in the game are paird with each other, maybe with a box around the grouped people's names and icons in game/in the lobby, so they can change their gameplay accordingly.

  • Honestly? Base Doctor. His design is peak horror imo and he always gives me the chills. Pretty sure nothing beats it for me.

  • Anything that adds more BP to the game is a good change. The grind for new players is ridiculous. I've played off and on since just after the beta and I'm still grinding through prestiging all my killers.

I think it's also important to point out that killer mains need more bloodpoints in general. On survivor you only really need one or two survivors decked out with all the perks, right? At the end of the day they're just skins of each other and getting all perks across all survivors is quite pointless. Killers on the other hand are all unique and require a lot more point investment because of it. Plus addons are incredibly important for a killer's usefulness meaning every match you have to invest around 8k BPs in addons. You also have to remember that a survivor who gets 10k points and dies 4 minutes into the match is getting very similar points per minute compared to a killer who had to be in the match for 10 minutes and got 25k points. Killers getting more points is OK, but increasing BP gain or altering how the web functions/perks function would improve the grind significantly.

Kinda difficult to evaluate the clip due to the stretched res.

Is it stretched res? It looks off, but not by a lot. I can't tell if it's mobile making it look messed up or if it's actually the player cheating.

  • I think his portals need a slight improvement, but that's it. Maybe increase the time you get undetectable? Make the travel time shorter? The screams he makes when he teleports could be altered somehow to give survivors less info? As is, I rarely use the portals. Shred itself is fine.

Do it, seriously. If I learned one thing about betatesting then it's that every input from people not knowing what to do there is as important as that of people knowing what they want to check out.

It isn't worth my time. DbD downloads in the most slow and frustrating way possible on steam and soaks up a ridiculous amount of my time. Not only that but killer queues takes AGES and survivors regularly DC making my wait pointless. No thanks. I'll stick to just watching gameplay.

Besides, I honestly don't need to try out some of Billy's addons to know they're irredeemable garbage. I definitely don't want to wait 20 minutes just to confirm that Mother's Helpers is useless.

Edit: How they handle BP on there is ridiculous. If I'm unlucky I'll go into the PTB with 100k points. I'm not grinding for no reason just to test garbage.

  • I refuse to believe the people who came up with the addons play DbD at any experienced level. This addon would work in one of ten matches against rank 20s who just unlocked their first flashlight in the bloodweb. I know what their thought process was, but only a brand new player would think it would ever be useful.

  • This kind of sounds like a stronger version of Old Freddy? His aura reading was literally the most hated part of him from the survivor side. Probably not a great idea to add that into the game again, right?

  • Spirit Fury is a poorly designed perk honestly. It's pretty pointless by itself and then with Enduring it's pretty unfun to go against. I think your idea kind of just makes the unfun part of Spirit Fury worse and does nothing to fix the perk itself being bad.

  • Honestly? None. I don't really like any of them. Jund is at least level-headed even if I don't always agree with him.

Pug is probably the one I dislike the most.

I assumed that I wouldnt be the first to think of this idea. What do you think about things like having perks that take up more or less than one slot like I mentioned in the OP? Or a limited list of perks so that perks that would have to be nerfed due to their insane synergy wont have to be. FOr example, maybe have decisive strike and unbreakable on the limited list sp you cannot have them both. Or any of the other ideas?

4 Really garbage perks will still lose to DS at the end of the day. Taking Streetwise, Buckle Up, Technician and No One Left Behind does not equal to the power level of DS or even Unbreakable. I think the best bet is to just do a huge balance update.
