Just going to be blunt with my experiences. I don't have a problem with the vast majority of SWF groups. Almost all groups are just a couple buddies sitting around in voice chat, talking away, and occasionally saying something along the lines of "he's camping, just do gens". I've only run into a handful of groups across all my time playing that were trying as hard as possible and coordinating every little thing.

The reality I've found by not dodging any lobbies regardless of who joins or what they bring, most people are not unstoppable gods, even with their friends.

Taking flashlights as an example. Flashlights are incredibly easy to counter, and you can actually swing this to your advantage. If you see someone bring a flashlight into the match and you know they're playing with friends, you can count on them staying one step behind you whenever you're chasing someone who's injured. That's one less person working on generators. Now when you do down the guy, quickly check the area, pretend you're about to pick them up, or just face a wall. You'll completely thwart their attempt and they'll have wasted their time. Better yet, there's another guy to chase immediately after you hook the first guy without any searching.

You need to count on them being altruistic and take advantage of that. I know "adapt" is a dirty word that people like to throw around in spite whenever something gets nerfed, but that's exactly what you gotta' do. Recognize that they're playing together, understand that they're going to be more altruistic because of that, and capitalize on that.

I see a lot of people dodge lobbies whenever a SWF group joins (or even when they think a SWF group joins, just because more than one person popped into the lobby at once). The problem there is that by avoiding the thing that is beating you, you're never going to learn to counter it. The same goes for survivors who dodge certain killers or certain perks. There is counterplay out there.

Now I don't mean to say that there aren't "sweaty tryhard" groups out there. They do exist, but they are very few and far between. I have only run into a handful in my time. This is not the vast majority of the groups out there. Voice chat alone doesn't turn average/bad players into gods. If you stick four really good players in a lobby together, voice chat or not, they are going to do extremely well. They'll know when to save, when to do generators, when to stall and when to take a hit. Most info you need is already available in some capacity, barring some niche things (e.g. killer's camping, you would need to spend time to go check).

I also don't mean to say that there's no benefit at all to using voice chat. It does make you slightly more efficient, there's no doubt there. Yes, you can try to coordinate saves better. But at the end of the day, you're still capped by your own skill level. You can't just join a voice chat and start breaking angles and spinning heads.

In short, what I'm trying to say is that SWF isn't this insurmountable challenge that it's made out to be. Good players are going to be good players, and they're going to be a little more powerful in a call. But the amount of perfect teams out there is very low, and even then, an equally good killer can still get ~2 kills.

I'm prepared for the hate I'm going to get for this, but I have and will continue to take on any survivors that end up in my lobby, SWF or not. And every now and then, I have no shame in saying that I'll get completely destroyed as I rightfully should. Not everyone is a top tier player, and you can't win every game. Maybe this all comes back to the ranking system and the way everyone's bound to end up at rank 1 if they play enough, I don't know. But there is a wide range of skill levels at rank 1, and everyone can't be the best at the same time.

(And for the record, I should say that I'm still on board with balancing SWF. Give solo players similar info and balance around that. That's still the ideal way to go about it.)

    First off, no hate here.

Outside of farming situations I'm hard pressed to recall 3 or 4 person SWFs that weren't ready to escape by the 5 minute mark. Most time beyond that is spent by that is me trying to get 1k.
    They're absurdly well organized.
I will continue dodging them because getting better is not sufficient incentive to keep getting my butt kicked when I can get better and have decent odds with as many solos as possible. I'm wasting time when I could he getting better BP almost any other way.
I have no aspirations to be a top tier player as a survivor or killer, I just want to play, and not get dragged through the mud constantly. VS SWF is pretty much that.
    It's not fun.

Oh, and I'm drifting between rank 16, and 15. They plague me that early on, so I don't play killer as much as I would like. I don't have the time to get dragged by SWFs.
I suspect if I go back to 20, SWF will be alarmingly common, too.

Swf dragging new and low level killers will no doubt damage community growth.

It doesn't help when I know there's odds that the survivors are starting a party chat via ps4 outside of SWF. Probably similar on pc.
It happens every so often when I'm playing survivor, and I bail, not wanting part of it, or ignoring it in game.
No reason to think it stops when I play killer.

Buffing solo to swf level is like giving every player Kindred 3 when not on a hook rather on a personal level, intermittent aura reading on the killer, detective's hunch that is almost always on, and a map they can use pretty freely. And voice chat. Roughly.
A 4 man SWF has 16 perks to synergize with. They may not use 16 individual perks, but that is a lot of room to play with.
Even if we were to consider the 4th being solo, that's 12 perks they can synergize with.

That is a huge amount of work to balance killers with, no?

Other comms need to be limited somehow... this game is not really made for parties to play together with no consequences. (hence it ends up making the game entirely one-sided and not in the way it should be)

If you can think of a way to actually do it, I'm all ears.

Push comes to shove they will probably use their cell phones to connect to discord bypassing any monitoring of the game.

Other than that, I agree with you. SWF is game breaking.

It is game breaking but really the only way I can think is to notify the killers that these people are together in a SWF party, like maybe have their names displayed in a different colour so you can see who is together or who isn't or if you're just in a lobby with complete random players who don't know each other. Or maybe have a crown or something above the name of the host of the SWF team and numbers on the playes who are with them to see if there are 2,3,4 in the SWF team, then atleast you'll know weather to proceed or not, other than that, all I can think is remove SWF completly so they can't join games with random killers, but keep the aspect of them having a private lobby with a killer they know, but not joining random lobbies where sometimes 1 survior is left in the lobby with the 3 SWF team who won't care about them at all because I've also been a survivor paired with a 3 man SWF team and it sucks because they will only care about the party they are with not the 1 solo survivor with them. It's unfortunate but true.

Problem is convincing the extreme SWF defenders.
They will accuse you of wanting easy games by dodging them, but conveniently forget that SWF is pretty easy mode.
It sounds like they know SWF is broken. If someone knows how to dodge them, they will enough to basically remove SWF from the game. They have to hope the killer doesn't know they're SWF to get games. Even if it means abusing the matchmaking system to go after killers way below their ranks, or depipping.

Being the 4th in an "Ed, Edd, and Eddy" (what some call a 3 man swf) is pretty hit or miss with me (not that I know for sure most of the time if I am), but anyone paying attention now will know who the 4th is.
SWFs are already sort of marked as they appear in the lobby at the same time. Seeing 2, or 3 people pop in at the same time shows they're the SWF, then anyone who doesn't enter at the same time isn't an SWF. Unless it's 2 pairs.

I've put forward the idea of marking SWFs, and/or the idea of filters on SWFs for killers and survivors, and been pretty heavily opposed.

Personally, though, as much as I loathe the negative impact SWF has made, I don't want it gone from the game. Just more efficient dodging. Or more incentive to put up with them.

gotta love the blatantly biased views on here.

just like killers...  "CaMpEiNg Is A lEgIt StRaTeGy"

yea, and being bullied into submission by 4 survivors on comms is just a strategy too.

both "strategies" are trash and take any semblance if fun out of the game.

and before you start, I don't mean "comms are unfair" period... I just don't like the way they are currently in use.

I think it should be open comms heard over a certain distance... I think that would solve a lot of the issues, toxicity be damned.

I don't agree that open comms will fix things. They can just work around it and use the same comms they do now.

Only thing that might change is randos being able to communicate. That might break the game worse, and killers will quit entirely. I know I'd retire as killer if I had to up my game to MLG as killer while survivors go far into easy mode.
As it is comms are absurdly broken, but limited, mostly, to SWFs and console party invites.

  • His shoes? They're... SNEAKERS!!! ... I'll show myself out.

Lol, why are they so chummy? Good art though.

Because Min fixes the cogs in his head? :P

  • It won't work.

The strength of BBQ is to coax killers to chase someone new so they can get more stacks, and more points.
It won't happen if everyone is outside the radius, and the killer don't know where.
It's like running a shittier version of Whispers with a BP bonus.

The failing is generally on the survivors for being in range to have their auras not be seen.
Especially on Leatherface. I mean what else is he going to run?

  • I try not to have any expectations in a game. Given how many unknown variables there are (random map, not knowing which killer you’re against, 5 sets of perks in the game, plus add ons and offerings, etc) I find it hard to predict how a match will go until a couple of minutes in and even then I’ve seen a solid end game turn into a massacre and a lost cause become a victory.

Though I will agree with @DemonDaddy that the first time I go on the hook I tend to assume it’s game over, that way any rescue is a welcome surprise lol. My typical gameplan though is to run Dark Sense and stay as far away from the killer as possible.

I do similar, but I don't use dark sense.
Usually in a trial there is some daredevil that will kite the killer as long as possible, and it isn't me.
I chill out at the start of the trial, and wait for someone to get chased, then I get away from the chase to do gens, and basically use everyone else as my dark sense, stating back as much as i can to help ensure people have a chance to escape. Gates preferably, but hatch in a pinch.

There are usually survivors. Sometimes I let myself get hooked to buy them time to escape.
  • I like to treat the trial like a date.
I want to try and make sure they have fun, and I have fun.
Best way to do that, imo, is to have a decently long match before the last sacrifice, or the gates are open. Unless I'm killer, I'm not likely to throw a trial, though.

Of course it goes out the window when they go toxic, or decide I'm not going to have fun.

I try to be stealthy and not blast through gens mindlessly to make it as short as possible.
I do what I can, or have to though I'm not super great at rescues.

As a killer, I try not to snarf up survivors. I like long matches. Multiple chases, multiple hooks, hooking multiple people if I have the opportunity and it's not some transparent survivor strat.
I will patrol camp unless it's someone hooked when the gates are open or they're troublesome, or toxic.

I mean, yeah, both sides have objectives, but doing them as fast as possible is boring, and I know I'd hate it if I were on the other team.
  • They all sound good.

Bots shouldn't be too hard. They have a ground work in tutorial mode, and if ft13th can have bots that can hide, repair cars, repair boats, make phone calls, use evasive tools, and such I'm sure DBD can get hook saves and gen repairs, and such.
  • Raccoon said:

The only reason that the Hatch is even an issue is that it is an occurrence with no counter and an unlimited timer/duration.

Either or can easily be implemented, and ideas have even been playtested, but nothing will come FOR A LONG TIME, much like the "DS rework."

This is 100% due to perceived backlash.

The hatch has a huge counter.
Slug the last 2 survivors, then hook them both before one dies.
You would not believe how many times I have used it  and been on the recieving end of it. It completely stops hatch plays.

It's easier than countering NOED unless you get too caught up in things and hook the 3rd by accident.

Even THEN you can find the 4th before the 3rd dies.

On top of that, the survivor needs to know where it is. You can either find the last survivor or the hatch.

That is the tip of the iceberg in countering hatch plays.
  • I mean, yes... but contextually speaking it doesn't really make a ton of sense lore wise why any of the licensed killers exist in the dbd canon... They're all kinda shoe-horned in... which I'm completely fine with as it breathes more life into the game.

You do have some very valid points though in regards to staying true to the characters & the IP.. although I feel like all of that could simply be implied in a character bio...

That and Amanda/Pig makes inescapable traps for the most part. With his easy it is to escape, it doesn't fit her.

Maybe pig is an amalgam of pigs?

We might have to suspend some disbelief. It's not going to be that terrible, I suppose.
  • As much of a fan as I am of hellraiser, and as cool as it might be to have the cenobite transformation on survivors as a Mori, I don't feel like the rules the Cenobites work with would fit well into the lore.

They don't really chase for one.

Two, they only really go after the people that wanted the box open regardless of who opened it.
Unless the Entity or Kirsty tells the survivors they might be able to escape the Entity that way, they might not know what to do with the box.
  • Unless they are getting banned, campers will continue to do the same. No point punishment is going to reward survivors the way they would like. Every time I have been camped, the killer made no effort to chase teammates regardless of how close they got. Take it away officially and you will be spite camped for their enjoyment. Its not about the points if they are actively forsaking them.
Because chasing a survivor like that is dumb as hell when securing a kill.

In the span of chasing and hitting the distraction the hooked survivor can get rescued and cover about the same amount of ground from the hook.

If the killer loses the distraction, the unhooked, and the rescuer, they're kinda boned.
If the distraction is the survivor that's been a pain in the ass to catch, they would be dumb to fall for it, imo.
  • I feel like Min could be higher.

Lithe is working more reliably, is more controllable than sprint burst, and has more places to use it than balanced landing.

I feel like technician has kept killers from noticing me, not just from muffled failed checks but them trying to hear me repairing while they patrolled.

Alert? Alert got buffed recently, and some killers cried foul real hard. I don't use it myself, though.
  • Probably questionable suggestions, but Deja Vu, Detective's Hunch, and Technician could possibly help.
  • Wait, flashlights?
I've dealt with a lot of flashlights.
From clickers to people who actually know how to aim.

Flashlights are pretty brutal if you can aim, and worse if you can catch a killer in an animation.

Yeah, you can evade by looking away, but you aren't watching where you're going. That buys time for the person they're carrying to say the least.
Even looking away my most recent encounter with flashlights partially blinded me until it did blind me.

Flashlights shouldn't blind a killer if you don't shine it in their eyes.

Don't forget that flashlights burn cloaked wraiths and destroys hag traps.
  • Why not both?!

But 1.5 week. I have way too much to do over the weekend so I feel like I can get more done through the week where I have way too much to do.
  • I have another idea: reward the first one who leaves with X amount of BP, the next one a little less and so on.
The boldness that comes from staying at exit just kills the horror factor. Frankly, how many of us would actually hang around when a murderous beast is after us, only to see if someone needs saving or just to mess with the killer?
Every one of us would just get the hell out the moment gates are open, others be damned.

Do they really get boldness just for staying in the gate?

It's literally the safest thing they can do!
  • Yeah, lets get rid of it so killers can hook from any angle.
    Body blocking is crap.

  • People are mad about more opportunities to earn blood points?

  • How much easier do you think that will make it to catch them?

  • So you're the fabled "easy to beat" 4 man swf?

But seriously, you can't punish killers for camping. They will camp out of spite.
And if you can't think of legitimate reasons to camp, you aren't one I'd take seriously on balancing.

Reward them for leaving the hook to get someone new. Make it more valuable than keeping you on the hook.
  • @Rebel_Raven Im p3 billy and all killers level 50 lol (Same as survivor)

Prestige again and don't get all your perks back.
Challenge yourself. Try new loadouts. Go in with 1 less perk.
  • If killer is so easy, why not prestige, and handicap yourself instead of taking it out on everyone else?
  • Kinda funny watching people defend SWF so hard.
I know it's a necessary evil, though. It's why I'm not trying to get rid of it.
I'm trying to find some sort of middle grounds. Either in making dodging more efficient or making it worth my time to even bother going against them.

Don't you want the Lobby dodging to stop?

People accuse me of wanting the easy games when I want it easier to dodge SWFs while completely missing that SWFs make the games easier.
And they have the nerve to demand everyone else has to get better? To keep up with people who already have it easier?

But if there was a way to dodge SWF, everyone would!
    Gee, I wonder why?
It's because people break the game with Swfs, and are so sweaty about winning they make it hell on a killer who has no fun. But SWFs don't care.

It seems like the only way SWFs get games is by getting by on people who aren't aware or don't care of what the SWF is going to do to them. Once that's gone, SWF players are quaking in their boots. That's the real horror.
They need the easy prey, and willing because everyone else dodges them because they know SWF is going to be game breaking.
I mean surely it wouldn't be a problem if SWF was balanced at all, and tons of people wanted to play against them, right?
Surely if there was a filter there would be enough to still play against SWFs, right?

Let's stop the delusion that SWF is balanced, yeah?
    Stop lying to yourselves.

If you don't want to "get gud" that's on you. SWF is part of the game and any change that would increase lobby dodging would be detrimental for the game.

So SWF can only play by going after people that don't know what to look for?
I already know they exist in low rank games, too.

By getting better I mean good enough to go after SWFs on the regular.  There's a small, wonderful world put there outside of fighting endless SWFs.
And ya'll are suggesting the only way to do it is to challenge SWFs on the regular, get my ass beat in a 5 minute game, and get ######### blood points and crawl through the blood web.

    More like "Easy dodge them".

I already know what to look for, and I dodge them already, or I error on the side of caution and dodge, too.

    What difference does it make?

Why do I dodge them? Because I have no reason to put up with them breaking the game to beat me.
    No incentive.

If I got bonus blood points and/or sp for facing them I might be more chill about it, but I generally get less of both, so I dodge. It's not worth it to vs them.

@Rebel_Raven I just hit rank 1 and I never ever used Ruin not 1 x and Noed i didn't start using until deep into rank 12. I never once dodged a single match and took what was given to me. I didn't use Franklin's until 1 pip from rank 5 and then I use dit 6x. I faced 4 man swf with 4 items and didn't whine on here nor dodge.

Most of my games weren't sub 5 minutes so that excuse doesn't hold any water since it's way over used..In fact most of my matches were longer in the 7-15+ minute range. I faced well equipped and well coordinated groups including Stypics, 3 legacy at once, syringes 4 DS etc.

Sometimes I got destroyed but I still had a lot of fun because I had some good laughs with the survivors post game. There was quite a few times I destroyed 4 man swf groups that had great items and were well coordinated but yet still only got 1-2 gens done.

Since I've done swf as well as solo I know how they'll play and because i don't dodge them i know what to expect. I took it as a challenge to get better so I'd have more fun in playing against these groups. I've had groups that destroyed me as well as that I've destroyed add me as a friend because the matches were so good.

If you don't want to be that good to fight swf's then you're going to get destroyed by competent solo q's and then the complaints will arise again.

also inb4 the usual Nurse stuff starts I mained Spirit the entire way from 12 and below and played Doctor above that trying to master him, Freddy 1x at rank 7 trying for Adept unique ( didn't end well) Trapper above 15, Nurse only to do dailies, same for Huntress, Myers and Pig same.

I depipped quite a bit since if anyone crashed during loading screen or right at start i let people farm. the devs aren't going to implement a dodging mechanic no matter how much you or anyone else complains for it. The game was always intended to have a swf part it just didn't make it in in time.

Good for you, what with all the bragging, and having the free time, and energy, and so forth to invest.
I don't know how you find all the free time and energy to do all that.

I'd gladly get stomped by 4 strangers over an swf any day.  At least the 4 solos offer me a decent chance over me continually running into the 5 minute swf games all the time.  And with swf markers I'll know who beat me.
It doesn't matter if you run into them often or not because I do, and it's no fun, and not worth it in blood points, time or effort to deal with.
Oh, and a 7 minute match isn't much better.

Swfs aren't interested in my fun. There's no post game chat on ps4 per say, and I generally don't like people. The ######### wanna camp in the game room for their precious chaseout proving that.

I don't have fun getting beaten down over and over and over and over again, which is about all SWFs have to offer because they break the game with communication, and coordination, and are more concerned with quick games than anything.

Like I said, I want a fair shake. SWFs do not offer that near enough for me to trust them.

I don't get why you're so against SWF filters, or labeling. You sound like you would still play against them. Surely there's plenty like you.
  • @powerbats said:
They won't do it and dodging doesn't help you get better at all, sure you'll get smoked in some matches but you'll also do the same. If you keep lobby shopping for an easy match then when you get matched against 4 solos that know what they're doing you'll get smoked then whine in post game about swf when it was your lack of skill.

Everyone assumes I want to get "better" that way. Or that others want to. Quit it. Seriously.
I play games to relax, and pushing myself to be MLG great, playing the metas, etc. isn't relaxing.
I rebel against what's generally expected often enough.

I don't want to be that good that I can fight SWFs. The hell am I going to do when I actually do find 4 randos?

I don't want to "get better" by constantly flailing in the deep end until I swim.
I don't want to get better getting absolute ######### (like 5k BP) in blood points making getting better harder on top of everything.

I'm not looking for an easy match, I just want a fair shake.
The sooner we can stop the delusion that most SWFS are fair, the better.
SWF is rarely ever fair because they break the game with communications, and organization.

I just want what's advertised on the tin, so to speak. 4 strangers vs 1 killer. Not sure why that's so wrong.

And if SWFs are marked, then going against 4 people without that marking would clearly illustrate that there was no SWF (as far as the game knows) thus I'd know I got beat by 4 randos which is way more impressive, and satisfying than wondering if those 2, 3 or 4 people didn't tip the scales a little too far which just annoys me.

And how exactly do you get better vs sub 5 minute games? Massive gen rushes? People who are equipped, and coordinated with synergy to kick the crap out of a killer? even casual SWFs can set up "Hey run this perk. I'll run this one. We'll work together," and banter critical intel.

  • @CotJocky said:
It's been suggested a million times. Good survivors that play with good SWF teams are just OP, plain and simple. Many a killer has been bullied or completely dominated by a good SWF. Yes, the game was not built with the intention of Comms or SWF. The simple fact is that anyone that plays killer for awhile finds out that good SWF teams are the bane of your existence. And the simple way to get around that is to try to avoid anything that you think is a SWF. Many killers already do this. I get lobby dodged all the time and I rarely play SWF and rarely run a flash light or a prestige survivor.

"Marking" a SWF team as such will simply lead to all but the noob killers and best killers dodging them. SWF will be rendered useless because you will never get a match. And many survivors will refuse to play if they can't play SWF. Approximately half the player base plays SWF on a regular basis. Marking SWF so that they can be dodged will be to the detriment of the player base and game. People think killer lobbies are bad now! ROFL...

As much as a ######### answer as this is.... If it is that horrible, you gotta get better, swap to playing survivor or find another game. Not saying that to be a dick, but it's the facts. They have been and continue to nerf survivors and buff killers which helps, but SWF isn't going anywhere.

Best advice I can give you is in most SWF's, not all 4 players are good loopers. Most SWF's have 1, maybe 2 good loopers. The other 2-3 are urban evading gen jockey's. Don't make the mistake of following the looper, he is your time waster. Catch the gen jockey's and punish them mercilessly. The looper might make a mistake trying to hook save and you can get him too. As much as I don't advise tunneling as I find it to suck the fun right out of a game, if you are a super sweaty try hard and only have fun when you get 4k's, then try to eliminate a player as quickly as possible. This will drastically slow the gen rush down and tilt the game in your favor. If you run into a lot of annoying flash light saving pricks, run Franklin's and separate him from his precious purple flash light.

Being a killer main is a tough road to travel, but if you can get over the try hard part and just have fun, you can make hella points even when everyone escapes. Much more so than a sub par to mediocre survivor makes.

I play both sides. I only care about blood point production. Rank doesn't mean jack to me, but I do my best to stay out of the Rank 20-15 range. No matter how good of a looper you are, or how bad the noob killer is, you can't loop the killer and do all 5 gens while the other 3 survivors are hiding in a corner doing NOTHING! This is why a lot of people only play SWF with people they know. Their is accountability in being part of a SWF.

I can't count how many games I ran the killer for enough time for 2-3 gens to be done and absolutely ZERO gens got done. You end up on the hook and you see 3 yellow aura's urban evading in a corner waiting on some else to get 2 gens done as they hope they are the lucky one that's gonna get hatch when everyone else is dead. It gets really, really old. 8K Boldness points won't buy much in the blood web I promise you. :-/

Here's the thing. Unless someone doesn't catch on to what is going on with SWFs (I did after i got my bacon handed to me playing the pig, once, having done research soon after the rofflestomp.), they're going to start lobby dodging like I did.
And the reasons they do it will grow, most likely.
SWFs are already marked, and probably don't even realize it.
If lobby dodging was going to be that bad, I think there might be an issue with it by now.

I think there -might- be an issue, though. What if they just seem like an SWF, but aren't? 3-4 people pop in rapid fire, it might just be their luck. They -could- be 4 strangers. But because they look like an SWF, I dodge them. They don't get a game, I don't get a game, we both lose.

I still feel like there's people who will play SWFs marked or not.
Problem is, it's either going to be newbies suckered in, and mauled by people likely playing below their rank for one. I don't think we need that, do we? P3 rank 15s kicking the stuffing out of new killers?
If not newbie killers getting mauled, it's people who are a little more seasoned trying their hand at it, or maybe even enjoying it.
Lobby dodging isn't a huge problem now, and it's been a thing for a while. It may not be if they get marked.

Marking them leads to lobby dodging more which leads to SWFs having to rebuild their lobby, and I'm sure it annoys them (hehehecough) so the filter might be best.
They either run into people who don't mind SWFs, or people who haven't turned the filter on.

Then there's the survivors that don't like being the 4th in an Ed, Edd, and Eddy. Or near any SWFs. Having a solo preference means the filters an work for them, too.

I basically know the tactics against SWFs, but there's just a different feel between SWFs and some strangers. SWFs are generally just way too organized, and I don't play the meta, nor do I want to. The pace is crap. They bang out 3 to 4 gens in a few minutes, which is annoying.

4 strangers, you don't know what you'll get. You have more freedom to play casually, and play in less than optimal. They have good odds, and so do I.

I'm not 4k crazy at all. It's nice, and all, but I rarely get them, and I'm ok with it. I'm low rank, and aside from the oddly high amounts of SWFs, I'm ok with it.

When it's all said, and done, I just want a fair shake, and to play in the spirit of the game that I heard about first. 4 strangers vs 1 killer. SWFs just kinda crap all over that.
I'm too old, and slow for this MLG stuff.

I don't killer main, though. I might have if it weren't for SWFs.
All this frustration with SWFs leads me to play survivor more, and I'm flourishing.
Going to rank 11 was absurdly easy just playing, and there's no telling how far I'll go before rank reset.
Mostly I'm the solo playing urban evading gen jockey. lol
I'm no good at rescues, and I'm decent at chases, but doing gens in relative peace is best for me.

But I still pine to be killer. And like I said, the original spirit of the game, and a fair shake works great for me. 4 strangers vs a killer.

  • A knife in the shape of a pallet? hahaha

Yeah, I rarely watch TV, but I'm going out of my way to watch.

  • Agreed.

I'm not going to pretend camping isn't useful. Getting rid of threats, slowing down a gen rush, getting rid of toxic people, securing a kill, drawing out altruists, causing chaos/panic especially once the gates are powered.

Still, I would appreciate something that can really tempt a killer to take a chance on leaving the hook when it's really tempting to stay by it.
It would possibly put a dent in campers just camping, and help dwindle the people camping in protest of the emblem penalty.
Basically they went the wrong way in punishing people.

Probably what our "killer" is in other languages/regions.

They need to start loosing bloodpoints for staying within a certain radius too long!

They need to be encouraged to leave! To go away!

It really sucks the fun out of a game when they just sit there, and wait. And wait.

They wait, and wait when no one is coming! No one cares!

Survivors camping the gates and hatches instead of escaping when everyone is there are just so annoying!

In some streams they added a balanced idea to adjust this. Next ptb they might even test it out

Just to be sure, survivors camping the exits/hatchets, or Killers camping hooks?

  • Let's do a dead rising cross over!
Have a mall level, a few of the survivors Frank, and others, vs some of the psychopaths as killers!
Maybe neutral zombies to deal with. Sorta like angry corn that killers can chop down, and get points.

But I mostly just want a bright, shiny mall level. Haha

Maybe Cousin Fred the barber from Courage the cowardly dog?
    ALL DWITGHTS WILL BE BALD!!

    Or ruin?
  • Radiant said:
They are just 5 totems, no need to do that even for solos.
Unless you have haunted grounds, then there are 7. Knowing how many totems there are would reveal that instantly.
And that can screw up a totem build.

Games the easiest it has ever been for killer, dread to think what you'd have said 3 months ago, lmao.

You'll get better, just practice - 4-man swf isn't as hard as the forums would lead you to believe, they're entirely beatable, especially now.

Some of us don't want to slam our faces into brick walls until we're good enough to headbutt through the wall.

    We just want to play.
We want to be free to play who we want, not have to be pro grade on a certain killers to have a chance.
We want to run the perks we want.
We don't always want to push ourselves to the limits just to get anything done. Especially in blood points which are often incredibly crap vs a coordinated group often enough.

Some of us are casual sorts. It feels like if we are to be able to play casually, and not get wrecked constantly, it has to be against as many people not in a group as possible.

Problem is, even at low ranks, l Iike 16, and 15,  (the Halloween event came just after reset, and I potatoed a lot on purpose) there's swfs that just want to bully, and have 5 minute games.
It's impossible to enjoy the game casually with an swf. They have hooks up their asses. They have zero intent on letting the killer have fun, or do much.

There may be "easy" swfs out there, but I'm not interested in wasting my time finding them.

You want to be a casual player but get so upset at the thought of losing you think about ramming your face into the wall? ok bud. 10/10 casual

There's a huge difference between losing, and getting what SWFs do to you.

I'm not upset, you're taking that too literal.
It's just a metaphor for how absolutely ruthless SWFs are even on lower levels that beating them, or even getting worthwhile blood points from the trial is a massive task. If you're trying to be casual, you're absolutely screwed.

Vs an uncoordinated group of randoms it's more likely people will escape, and  both teams will get decent blood points.

  • Do gens. Either the killer will move, or realize their mistake when you power the gates and leave.

First, I appreciate the feedback I've gotten so far, and for most of it I think its pretty reasonable responses.

With that said, I think taking SWF out entirely is a bad option. Perhaps limiting it to 2 players would be a good middle ground. (as in a team would consist of two teams of two friends)
Or at the very least giving us different modes to play that might limit this situation.

however, I feel either of those options would lengthen our already extensive wait times.
I agree that taking SWF out is a bad idea.

I prefer one of two options.
1: labeling swf members, and color coding several swfs. If possible include party chats at least on consoles.

2: create a filter to prevent swfs from joining, or being placed in one.
This would help killers not get swfs, and let players that prefer not being teamed with an SWF avoid it.

I'm trying to figure out what's worse. SWFs or wait times, and it's a tough choice.

  • Yeah, SWF are too common now.
I'm on the edge of retiring as killer, and making it possible for killers to get a game that isn't a 4 man swf by going survivor main.

Oh, and if you want, you can try to dodge SWFs. Watch the lobby, and see if people join at the same time. If they do, odds are they are swf.
  • I'm leaning slightly toward killer having it worse.
SWF is super common, even at lower levels, and abuse of the communication, and coordination makes playing killer a slice of hell.

Killers can also have their games held hostage unless you do a trick when survivors crack the whip.

I breeze through being survivor. I may not escape every time, but I make decent BP, and I'm unwillingly ranking up.
I can't say the same for killer.

Survivors have to deal with bs, tho. Not going to pretend they don't.
  • Bill... but I'm on ps4. Lol

Quentin, and tapp mostly, but I see a good mix of everyone.
  • I usually run deja vu, lithe, lightweight (going to switch to dance with me asap) and technician.
Might swap technician with urban evasion if I get the chance.

    Stealth mode.

I'd love to see Chucky in an apartment building type of map, maybe split between three floors with stairs and fire escapes linking them together. Maybe even an out of service elevator that you can hop through the hatch of to drop down a floor.

As for a survivor, I'm a bit rusty on those movies, but I believe the mother would be the best fit.

    How would Chucky hook someone?

That's a good question. He's probably need his own animation for that. Maybe tying their arms behind the bottom of the hook.

That or he could Space Jam it and the survivors could get dunked on.

Maybe he could use a rope looped over the hook, and sorta reel them in with a pulley sort of motion?

Or a more fun idea, imo, the entity gives him a toy catapult that launches them onto the hook?
