Let me link you some "optimal freddy" gameplay, with me as the freddy. I haven't even played him in months, and here is what you do. Spam M2 as you walk, collect your free downs. You can try to be creative with the snares but since it takes about .5 seconds to lay one, it's easier to just spam them at all times.

    https://clips.twitch.tv/StupidEagerSalamanderBudBlast

    https://clips.twitch.tv/SmallScrumptiousGorillaUWot

That wasn't you being good or Freddy being OP. That was the survivors making bad plays. No indication of their rank either.

How is instantly teleporting across the entire map fair? Even billy takes longer to get there.

It's not instant. It takes 2-3 seconds, and you have a huge warning from the very start of the process to get away. Nice try.

You just need to get better at survivor. Survivor is the easy mode of DBD.

Also - how are god windows fair? How is Decisive Strike fair? How is borrowed time fair? How are flashlights fair? How are the map sizes in relation to gen repair times fair?

Just listing my opinions of why I find the killer to be unfun for me. You don't agree which is understandable but you failed to change my opinion because you said "are you kidding me" which makes me not like you all that much.

So, you find him unfun because he's capable of applying gen pressure...has the same lunge as every other killer (apparently too long for you), Freddy players don't meme for your amusement, and has tools that won't let you abuse loops for days. Okay.

As I said. How dare a killer have the ability to kill effectively. He doesn't allow me to loop like my favorite streamer (even though your favorite streamer likely loops him just fine).

I don't think asymmetrical horror games are the games for you if those are the things that bother you, to be honest. This is just a case of you needing more practice.

Also - criticizing Freddy because people who play him don't meme. OOF. That's ridiculous.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

So why is Billy the only killer that can cross the map and then back again with no cooldown?

In addition he’s the only killer with that kind of movement that has instadowns on top. An unlimted number of instadowns he can swing, swing, swing all game with little punishment if he misses.

    tHe mOsT bAlAnCeD kIlLeR

If he’s the most balanced then all other killers need buffs.

Because it has a huge downside of having to rev up the chainsaw, have little control during movement (meaning survivors need to run into him or stand still to be hit), get there, go through the stop animation, find someone, rev up again, hope they aren't running around something forcing you to M1, hit them, have a cooldown before he can pick anyone up (there is a cooldown), and that's if he hits the person and not a tree with a hitbox the size of a cadillac, then he has a huge penalty. He has all the downsides in proportion to his power.

If you think Billy is even remotely OP, it's just you that needs to get some practice in. Not Billy that needs nerfing.

You're right about one thing. Most killers do need buffs.

  • @SunderMun said:

Base billy needs no nerf; instasaw is the only thing that needs nerfing.

Instasaw hasn't been a real thing since Tinkerer was changed. He can have a faster saw, but it's nowhere near insta anymore. It's nothing that can't be dodged or juked.

Stop nerfing things because survivors refuse to learn how to play.

  • @whammigobambam said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/121413/freddy-is-unfun-to-play-against

I literally can't. Freddy is the bastard of a dull remake, not a single Freddy has ever memed, best lunge, gen pressure, anti looping tools in the game. I hate Freddy can he plz get a retro skin and music so he is at least visually pleasant on the eyes?

    1. "Killer doesn't meme. Killer isn't fun. How dare the killer play the game seriously and not be a circus act for survivors". Gotcha.
    2. Every killer has the same M1 lunge. Some just look larger because they are smaller character models.
    3. Yep, Ruin got nerfed, time to complain about killers that can actually apply gen pressure. Even if they are completely beatable, how dare they have a chance.
    4. Anti looping tools only means you have to change how you loop. Adapt.

I seriously hope you were being sarcastic. It almost seems like it, cause you listed all the positives as negatives...so please, please tell me you're being sarcastic.

You missed the context. Someone said as rank 3, billy is only one they can’t beat so I said imagine higher ranks. So you missed that I guess. Shrug.

The context is irrelevant. The idea that Billy needs a rework is what I'm arguing, and he doesn't. If someone at rank 3 is having trouble against Billy, I think that's more of a sign that ranking as survivor is way too easy, and not an indicator of Billy being OP or needing a rework. This person, no offence, shouldn't be at red ranks.

  • @NDwight88 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1009853#Comment_1009853

Exactly and ranks 15-20 really have no shot with billy. He needs some sort of rework but killer mains will lose their ######### with another nerf anytime soon.

Why does Billy need a rework again? Because new survivors can't move left or right when he's chainsawing at them? Because they need to learn to get stuns, and get distance?

  • @Sluzzy said:

He was way overbuffed. Surely there is some nerfs coming his way.

Or, you just need to learn and adapt against him.

  • You made the original claim. Burden of proof is on you, bud. Back it up.

Fact is, there's more logical, and observable evidence to backup that there are simply killers leaving than there is for your theory; and that's what they all are, theories. Some are stronger than others, obviously.

  • Imagine thinking Billy is OP. KEKW.

You're a killer though. Killer fun is irrelevant.

  • You must not have been playing DBD yet at the time the patch was released, which would explain your confusion.

It got fixed, only about a week after the final release of the patch. It was not fixed on launch. I should note - it STILL happens, and the sound bugs from that patch still exist and there's no word on a fix for them yet, as well as the Wraith and Spirit post-phase lunge is only NOW just getting fixed. Those also happened in the Oni patch. So the whole "PTB is a placeholder" thing, with BHVR's history is a bit silly.

  • @TeddyR said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1007535#Comment_1007535

Do you know what a PTB is? Literally called a Public T E S T build, the source is from the devs, but sure dont believ him

I played the PTB. I know all about it. I just wanted a source that the "entire PTB is a placeholder" - especially when history goes against that. For example, the Oni release. Everything that was in the Oni PTB, right down to the game breaking basement hook bug, was in the final release of the patch.

Digest yourself a chill pill there, and read everything before you attempt to climb on top of your soap box. :)

  • Wraith. He has a damn suit.

I don't think attacking means what you think it means. I haven't vilified or chastised you in the least. I merely said I've seen you do this before (which is observable in your post history), and that I refuse to engage any further based on your history of posting single sentence things without logical basis just to start an argument. This is not an attack. Please don't accuse me of things I haven't done. Thanks.

I have two pieces of logic on my side. Two pieces that can be observed by the majority of the player base. Killers saying they are quitting/taking a hiatus, and red ranks being put with yellow rank killers.

All you're saying is "No, its not true cause i get red rank killers". Something observable only by you. Which is weak as a point of argument.

So you have no basis. Thought so. Moving on.

    Ahem:

And you base this on...? You've admitted in previous threads you haven't been to red rank as killer. So how would you know? I notice you tend to interject a lot of one-liner things like these and never back them up. So back them up, bud.

I base my claims on the fact that red rank killers actually aren't playing and are quitting/taking breaks, as well as the fact that red rank survivors are being matched with yellow and green rank killers. What do you have as a base? Go ahead. I'll wait.

Any time now. I'm not falling for your one-liner bait posts like others do. o/ <3

If you want a discussion with me, you need to provide logic. I will ignore it until you post any logical backing. :) I don't engage into debates with people who just rely on "well i think this, I have no base but I think this".

I'm not sure about increasing base gen time, but I would like toolboxes to be looked at. The biggest issue is map size. Managing gens would be easier if maps weren't the size of Antarctica.

Yep. The fact that on your average map as a killer without mobility (or even worse, Huntress who is slow as balls), you can't even make it to the other side before one (or even two) generators pop, is an issue.

  • It's not dying; but it's also not getting bigger. It's stagnant.

That being said it will likely die though, starting with the next update. Killers will become an endangered species, and without them, there is no game. Even more, DBD content creators are all praying for DBD to die so they can move over to another game without whining from their communities. They've all said it, multiple times.

A good killer doesn't rely on ruin, and as Doctor, gen kick points mean nothing.

    Good job being mean.

Unfortunately, you're wrong. I depip as killer all the time. I don't want to play against toxic sweaty try hards every match and I don't want to waste 1k hours of my life....let alone 3.5k hours.... To become a sweaty try hard myself. Especially since I'm 10 achievements away from finishing this game.

Lately, another reason I depip is to enhance the face camp problem that this forum refuses to accept and to prove a point. Only response is to call the new players potatoes which probably turns them away from the game, which doesn't help the wait times. I wouldn't want to grind 14k points/match when successfully counter playing a potato strategy.

I believe OP is right that Qs take longer closer you get to red rank as a survivor and as the killer, green ranks put you into red ranks. I think the real problem is the toxicity of this community towards killers. If a killer is toxic towards survivors, it's just one person being toxic. If survivors are toxic to killers, that's 4x more to deal with. And regardless, survivors are more likely to be toxic than killers anyway.

Saying something is unfounded and silly isn't mean; and you of all people don't get to call people out for being mean after the things you've said to people for simply disagreeing with you.

There's no logic to back your claims up. On the other hand, there is to back mine up. So, there's that. Have a good one, bud.

People who want to have fun with friends won't get punished by those changes, only the tryhard SWF will be and those are the problem not the fun with friends ^^

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1008090#Comment_1008090

OoO got hit hard but still works against stealthy killers, yus it stopped showing their auras but the perk still lights up when looking at the killer making it a higher range Spine Chill.

If the killer goes toxic on next game for having a bad time last game, it's not the devs fault, it's the player fault for taking a game too personnal.

Survivors have enough pallets as it is, Balanced Landing is now an ok exhaustion perk but i agree some maps still needs to be balanced not to be survivors sided (such as Ormont, Red Forest realm because of their big scale)

For the SWF empty slot because not enough time : this is why there is a prelobby with a chat and you can hit "ready" when only you are actually "ready", sorry but this is false excuse for making yourself a mistake.

Thank you for your feedback ! Well there is also places for changes of course ^^

    See ya :)

It doesn't matter if it's a tryhard or a normal SWF group. You can not punish people for playing with their friends. Start doing that, the game dies. This isn't a good solution.

You dont loop Freddy like you do other killers if he has puddles. Do him like the clown, drop the pallet early and if your team is decent gen speeds carry the game.

This. And try to get the stun if you can. If he respects, drop it anyway (or if you already know he's a pallet respecter, keep running, or learn to fake). If you have to drop it early, force him to break the pallet. When he does that, get distance. You can't just run in circles forever against Freddy like any other killer.

  • See, a lot of that looks good on paper. The issue is, you can't punish people for playing with their friends. All your solutions seem to punish the SWF in some way. So they aren't really good solutions.

Sure, a coordinated 4 man SWF is hell for a killer. Nobody argues that. The issue is, and I say this as someone who plays both sides more or less equally (I may have a bit more hours in killer), a truly coordinated 4 man god tier SWF (or, "depip squad") that is unbeatable doesn't happen all that often. Even at red ranks.

I assure you people get punished frequently, just keep in mind that temporary bans don't show up on their Steam profile.

Also that offense might have been the only one they had, they got a 48 hours ban, they regretted saying anything and hopefully stopped doing it (I know it's hypothetical, but that's what punishments are for, to make people realize their mistake and maybe change).

Sadly a lot of people don't bother reporting, so some of those individuals end up doing that a lot and not getting punished because no one reported them, so I want to encourage everyone to report slurs, death threats and comments like that, it's something that greatly hurts our community and shouldn't happen.

On a totally unrelated note, your post background is pretty sick looking. 🧐

Well,if the average survivor thinks that "losing is toxic) then I agree it is not! Although,if they lost because of their own fault then it isn't toxic!

If the killer does something completely unfair with the survivor having little to nothing he can do,then it is toxic in my book because it literally destroy their experience!

I mean,I'll agree with everything that you say! If you find another word for "destroying people's experience". If not, then for me and for some other people, toxicity will involve these. :3

There is no "your book" though; and that's what I'm trying to explain to you. There is no room for interpretation here. It's not something that is a matter of opinion, and you don't get to make up your own definition.

Toxic in terms of attitudes and people has a specific definition. It's how one behaves. The only things toxic in game are things said in the in game chat (bad things, obviously), and exploits/cheats. NOTHING that is built in as an in game mechanic is toxic, under any circumstances. No matter how unfair. No matter how much you or survivors don't like it. Regardless of it being in your "book" or not. Labeling things simply because you don't like them as toxic is toxic.

By your logic - Blendette's, something you're literally named after more or less, are toxic.

  • So, I remember watching a fog whisperer (actually, two different ones have said this in their streams) say that they have their own special super happy fun fog whisperer discord that they can report people in. Directly to the developers. I also heard them say that they had reported multiple people for post-game chat that contained racist stuff and the like, as well as exploit abusers and lag switchers etc. According to them (and they have a better track record of being truthful to us than the devs at this point), nothing was ever done and "The only thing BHVR cares about is that you don't disconnect from their game".

I don't know if that's true. I just don't think it would surprise anyone...having said that, the reports might do something. But who knows.

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

First of all,you said doing instead of don't! Not important but still :3

So,if I understood correctly tho, everything that makes the average player's experience worse and worse,is NOT considered toxic. Rather the communication is "toxic".

I said "average player's" for a reason. This doesn't have to do about me m8 :3

As you can see,I'm, well, writing I guess, calmly, making puns, rewarding your time and effort writing these! But I do not understand why you act like someone who is better than me.....

I know it's off topic but,it's kinda rude to say "simply put" "period" and stuff.

Not to say I'm offended,I'm not since this is YOUR OPINION but since the forum said "in your opinion" I would recommend to have started with "in my opinion" that would make things more civil and completely destroy all the argument that you guys created.

Don't try to make people change their beliefs m8. Try to be a little more nice, not that you are not obviously, but doing such little things will improve the quality of the conversation!

Thanks for reading! Hope to see you in the fog!

It's not my opinion. it's the actual definition. I'm sorry if you consider that rude, or are offended by it. That's not the intent. It doesn't matter who it is, any mechanic provided by the game when used as intended (which includes camping, and tunneling, as the devs officially call it a legit strategy), can never be toxic. No matter who is bothered by it. No matter who's fun it ruined. In multiplayer games, you make your own fun. It's not up to the opposing team/side to be your jester and provide said fun for you.

    It's not a belief. It's a fact.

    I'll repeat this:

By that logic, let me throw this at you. Your average DBD survivor hates losing in general. This is a fact. In fact, even killers don't like to lose. It's not fun to lose the majority of the time. If a survivor escapes, it must be toxic, right? Cause it bothered the killer and wasn't fun for them? Because it bothered the killer that they escaped? You see how silly that sounds?

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1007918#Comment_1007918

It does, imo,if they do it in ORDER to ruin someone's fun. If I play leatherface, for example, and get looped to Oblivion and then camp the survivor who did all this work,is this.......good in your book?

For me,punishing survivors for playing well because I (the killer) made a bad choise to commit to the chase,is toxic.

Tho,I agree with your definition of toxicity,I stand by my reason I believe that this things just intentionally hurt people's fun. In order to "counter" toxic messages I just leave immediately after writing ggs at the chat. Actually,if the survivors are toxic,I just laugh it off, since these things mean that I played successfully :3

Not here to make an argument since, philosophically speaking, people give their own definition of a word. That means that toxicity has different definition between you and me :3

    Thanks for answering!

    Simply put: "No".

They are mechanics in the game. They are not under any circumstances toxic, and it's not up for opinion. When those things are removed from the game and people find a way to do them, then they will be toxic. Until then, you simply doing like them, and that's as far as it goes. Period.

Yeah, it's nice if you have a strong map and none of the pallets have been used. But what about when you have a weak map, and you fall asleep just as the freddy is starting to chase you?

Begin the snare spam. You can mash M2 as you walk and it will be super effective.

Or alternatively, you can spam fake pallets as pallet freddy. It takes way less skill to do, but will get you some free downs just the same.

Killer is hard, you gotta hit M2 to get some downs every now and then between instantly teleporting to gens with BBQ. I remember when you had to saw over to them with billy.

There's like 3 strong killer maps out of ALL the maps in the game. ALL of the other maps are EXTREMELY survivor sided with the way tiles spawn. Even then, the 3 maps that are strong for killers are balanced and aren't exactly weak for survivors.

You can only put down 10 snares, and they are bright red and easy to avoid. Just stop trying to loop the same pallet and go for stuns. Get distance.

If a Freddy is "spamming" fake pallets, it makes it RIDICULOUSLY easy to figure out which ones are fake. A good Freddy is strategically placing them, not spamming them.

Freddy does not instantly teleport. It takes 2-3 seconds and survivors are given visual warning to get a head start, and BBQ is easily countered.

This is just a case of you needing to adapt, and learn to loop something that isn't a god window or safe pallet.

Rofl,I asked this question cuz I really wanted an answer. I agree, tho since "toxic" for me means "ruining people's fun" then these things I mentioned, which they do ruin people's fun,I consider them toxic!

Honestly tho, since I don't use chat at all and just leave the game after writing ggs, for me it's the perfect way to counter "toxic behavior"

Thanks for answering btw. Appreciate it.

The thing you don't get is, toxic in terms of people and attitudes, already has a definition. It's not something open for interpretation or your own definition. That's like saying "everyone thinks bicycle means this, but to me, it means something else". That's not how it works.

As I said, it's fine to not like any of these things. That's cool, and that's your perogative; but if you're going to call someone toxic for simply doing things that annoy you, despite the fact that they are things built into the game as in game mechanics, then you are exhibiting a toxic attitude.

One of the biggest issues with toxicity in the DBD community is people who call everything that bothers them toxic.

I mean....................it just makes the game super boring...and if I'm the person they camp/tunnel I am sad cuz there is little to no counterplay since I'm a new survivor with little techables. As a killer,I play "fair" because I follow the rules the community has like "not camping/tunneling" and it makes the game more interesting and fun!

As the others said, trying to ruin someone's fun is considered toxic. And since these kinda things (hex) ruin people's fun,I consider them toxic :3

No. None of those things are toxic. Just because someone is ruining your fun, does not mean they are TRYING to ruin your fun. Tunneling, camping and mori's are all in game playstyles and mechanics, and are in no way or circumstance toxic. Ever.

You may not like them, but that does not translate to toxicity.

a lot of survivors complaining about the big man lately, how long do you think till BHVR kills him?

Him and Ghostface will be nerfed soon. They are overperforming and not fun for survivors to go against because they can't adapt.

Meanwhile, killers need to adapt to ruins change, and aren't allowed to complain.
