I would bet that the person who wrote this comment is on this Forum. And that they are a Killer Main. And complained about Survivors at least 3 times this week.
Not the response/discussion I was expecting, but I'm not surprised.

I bet this'll piss off those who keep saying "This game is dying!" As if they're predicting the end of the world or something!
It's consistently in the top 0.01% of games played on Steam and now is even higher in terms of revenue.

I've recently begun to notice that some survivors seem to render certain killer players as obnoxious for playing a certain way during the trials i.e camping/tunneling. While I can understand this experience can be upsetting (I've faced it on numerous occasions) I don't see it as a reason to view the killer player as obnoxious though. I've also seen this escalate further to bullying and harassment happening in the end game chat, where unspeakable and awful comments are passed to others as a result of it. In the game (especially in it's currently climate with MMR) killer's must do everything they can to achieve even what is considered "a fair and balanced win" which is a 2K sometimes. One thing survivors need to realize is that the killer is the antagonist, they are supposed to be oppressive and do everything they can in order achieve their objective. As long as they do that within the parameters of the game's rules they can try and achieve their objective in any way they see fit. It is not your call to make. Killer's are not your playthings who are to bend your wishes just so YOU can have fun. They have to have fun as well and if this is how they decide to have fun then so be it. Killer's are players too we must remember. If the way killer's play to accomplish their goals (which is in contrast to yours of course) upsets or contradicts your subjective sense of what you feel entitled to then it may be in your best interest to play something else. This is the way it is.
You should see these people when they get stuck in Jail playing Monopoly or get their turn skipped in UNO!

Proof that survivors care more about fun in this game than killers do in all honesty, some survivors are willing to throw an entire game so one person doesn't spend theirs on a hook.
That must be it!

So your argument against it is probably never? Its happening they've changed it before and they had a talking point over it in the stream those two months ago its gonna get changed they'll come up with something or give a bandaid fix of some sort
My apologies for not misrepresenting the contents of the quote and video.

I posted this in a different thread, but this is how I honestly feel:
I'm fairly certain that the "working on camping" statement was just empty rhetoric akin to "boosting solos to swf levels and buffing killers accordingly."
I'd almost 100% guarantee that neither will ever come to fruition.

Ruin literally only works if the killer is providing interaction.
Anyone not being chased is also able to just M1 on gens unless the killer is securing fast downs....at which point Ruin is just fulfilling the same function as POP or Scourge.
You should probably look at WHY Ruin is working in your games.
As mentioned above, there are many tools to find totems.

@woundcowboy said:

Sprint burst at least can help the killer to gauge if it is worth trying to chase, and they can at least force the exhaustion. There is also mindbreaker (or whatever it was renamed) to mitigate SB. You don’t know the survivor has dead hard until after you are in the chase. DH can easily add 30 seconds plus to a chase, with no possible counter by the killer.
Mindbreaker is an amazing SB counter after the survivor uses it 1x (I say 1x because they're probably going to be able to wait out the initial Exhaustion before you get there).

I use Dead Hard in my main build. I also use Windows of Opportunity.
I use Lithe, SB, BL, etc in other builds with WoO and can still get 2-3 gen chases consistently...I'd rate my skill level as mid.
If I can do this with other stuff, anyone can.

@Aven_Fallen said:
So your Job is to kill Survivors. You are not doing it on purpose, because you want to face weaker players instead of players which are somewhat on your skill level. And then you complain about not getting Pips when you are not doing what you should do.
Riiiight... I mean, play as you like, but dont complain if you dont get the rewards if you do nothing to earn those rewards.
In normal gameplay, I would even say it is easier to pip as Killer. I get more Double-Pips and Blackpips as Killer compared to Survivor.
Honestly, sometimes it feels like I get Ruthless Killer for just spawning on the map.

I love when some people call other people bots whenever they're complaining about solo queue.
They're obviously leagues above everyone else to be dripping with such scorn and entitlement.
Anytime I see that from now on, I'm going to ask if they're wiing to upload a few matches (back to back - no edits) or queue with me.
I'd really like to see such players in action so I can really 'up' my game.

You 100% did the right thing for your own mental health.

I tried it pretty hard to get caught by the Tutorial-Trapper. First of all, it took some time until I was downed, because the Bot still kept missing.
And when I was on the Hook, I almost died, because the Bot-Teammates did not come for the rescue.
Guess they couldn't be BOThered to go for the save.
*dodges tomatoes*

There's nothing wrong with selfish play.
I'll abandon people/let people die if I feel like it's in my best interest.
Sometimes I'll pop the gate and leave with 0 hooks if I suspect NOED (or it's confirmed), BW, etc.
Other times, I'll be a super star and carry the game....sometimes I'm the one getting carried.
The randomness and variety are what make solo queue great - Despite what you may see, there is a huge swathe of people that feel the same way.
If you want to dilute the randomness for a more consistent experience, there are a bunch of different avenues (even some official ones) where you can grab a few decent people and literally crush 3/4 of your games.
I'm personally more than content playing Solo/Killer with the limited information I get + lack of access to hidden information - My own decisions carry 100% weight and I really enjoy the autonomy in-game and surprise occurrences.
-
Self-Care/BK/Dead Hard/WoO
-
I've made several topics about DH in the past and view some of its uses as problematic.
Personal feelings aside, I don't think it should be changed until validation is fixed and more data is collected after the killer powers and add-ons that counter/exhaust are functioning at an optimal level against it.
If they ARE going to change it, it should be changed in a manner that is based on accurate data and considers all factors.

I just came back after a four months away and my solo queue games are worse than ever. Some games are literally over within the first 30 seconds. My teammates have absolutely no ability to stay alive in chase, and they're downed as soon as the cool down between swings is over. People will NOT to gens, period. I regularly have games where all three teammates just stop playing with anywhere from 1-3 gens to go.
I started keeping track because I wasn't sure if I was just being negative or the games really were miserable, and in nine games, the killer got 4ks in seven of them. That's not even close to fair or balanced. Please tell me what the secret is to getting teammates who are willing to play and even halfway competent, because the devs seem to be hell bent on driving away solo players. I know that if I can't find anyone skilled to play with, I am just going to be done with this game. This isn't a BR, it shouldn't be near constant losses, especially when this game has a grey area and SOME survivors can escape.
*nod nod*

It's 4v1 when you're in a SWF, not solo Q.
Why would I care that people that I dont know escaped when I get nothing for it?
Go ahead, add that context. 😉
Oh wait, you did, and it's still the exact same sentiment? Oh well. Tbf, the reason I quoted you wasn't because you were the first I've seen with that mindset, just the best, most concise example of it.
I usually check people's post histories when I see stuff of a similar nature.
Usually makes me think that the posts/mindset/gameplay all come together into a beautiful self-fulfilling prophecy.

Solo is not as bad as everyone thinks it is, especially now with the new matchmaking. MMR was probably the biggest buff solo players have received. If you're a good survivor and equip at least one coordination perk (Kindred, Bond, Empathy, etc), you can win (have 3/4 survivors escaping) more than half of your matches.
For sure - I actually think Empathy is way more valuable than some people make it out to be.
I'd like to note, though, that there are also times in Solo when you should just slam that last gen and bounce, ignoring that guy on the hook.
Discerning when to make a decision like that (among many others) is probably why many people struggle without direct instruction/communication.

Raccoon, you are an enigma and I hope you know I love you.
Thank you. It has been a ludicrous exam but it is actually wrapping up today after 6 months of work and 3 straight weeks of writing.
Crushed it. Happy holidays <3
Real life will always trump any concerns or whatever I have with any users/forum stuffs.
There's always a user behind the screen, and even if I'm being silly in a game related reply, I still respect the person unless there's a blatant reason not to.

Wow guys, ty for remembering my thread.
Yeah, Michi and I are still working on it, but had to put it on hold because I had a crazy exam I had to write. Took months to get it done right but we are back to work.
Keep an eye out!
Also to answer the main question: yes it was before mmr. Since mmr I've lost a few times, it's nuts out there!
Game discussion/personal opinions aside, I legitimately hope you crushed your exam!

A lot of the posts/people I see complaining about solo queue do any number of the following:
-come off as rather entitled or petty (such as the ones you posted)
-demonstrate a weak understanding of the game and its mechanics through the post's contents
-grossly, grossly, grossly overestimate their own skill cap
-demonstrate an unwillingness to use any of the available solutions for any particular gripe
I play mostly Solo and Killer.
They both have their issues, but people tend to exaggerate them.
Admittedly, I'm a very selfish player and will leave people on hook if I have to, but I don't look down on anyone or expect people to coddle me, either.
I'll also draw aggro, save, etc if I feel like it.
I play primarily for fun/rarely get tilted, and I honestly feel that this has helped me dissect the holes in my own solo/killer games.
