Did this patch do anything to validation?
-
I've had 1 game today...
My queues are insane....6-8 min for a solo game.
-
They'd insult anyone that was in the same position.
They just want to spew vitriol at/attempt to damage Patrick because he didn't tell them what they wanted to hear/did not provide instant gratification.
-
I get Haddonfield for my first map almost every single day @_@
-
As you can probably tell by the lack of "nerf Spirit" threads and her current rarity in-game, I doubt many people are struggling against her at all these days.

but it doesnt, because my killer still wipes the weapon which is longer than a normal whiff
I haven't seen it happen.
Can you post a video or upload one showing the wipe?

I would have liked them to do something unique and fitting of the term "Legion".
IE All 4 members spawn in random places, 3 as husks.
The active Legion could high five a husk to trade places with them/switch characters.
Feral Frenzy would function the same, but if you hit 2+ people and AFTER cooldown, each member would have a different buff for X amount of time (also varies by buff).
IE
Frank would get increased pallet breaks for 40s
Susie would be 2% faster for 30s
Joey would have increased hit/miss cooldown for 60s
Julie would be able to leave her terror radius at the husk for 30s
Could probably add some type of survivor item (ie Spray Paint to keep with the Anarchy theme) that would allow the survivors to apply various debuffs to the husks that THE KILLER IS ALSO AWARE OF which could add a fun risk/reward factor to both sides.
I just want them to be THE LEGION T_T

Which only matters if there was over 7-8s or so of Exhaustion left when it was paused. Less than that and it lets them keep it 99'd without risking immediately losing it the second they get off the gen even if they don't want to use it cause of the 5s breathing room. This also lets them time and use it mid-chase thanks to it being a free way to 99 the perk. That is the problem, because there are situations the perk can be outright harmful.
If they want to do nothing/walk around for 30 seconds after the chase ends to get it back without being on a gen, go nuts.
It also makes the perk substantially weaker after an unhook as they can't SB to a gen without repercussions.
-
@SuzuKR said:
Eh. It's okayish but people can just use it to 99 Sprint Burst instead because the Exhaustion duration is slightly too short. (eg, ~7-8 seconds would fix that). The buff definitely helped since it's not useless once a gen is past 50% progress or whatever it was though.
For the first usage of Sprint Burst...
It pauses all existing Exhaustion timers.

Only 400?

Thank you, I think it's perfectly reasonable and fair way to actually get a better look at how Dead Hard compares to other perks. Instead of just "shouting at the sky" which is what a lot of people are doing.
No problem.
I definitely appreciated the scientific approach used that wouldn't take me an absurd amount of time to even begin to describe all the possible issues, nor the absence of its effect on killer powers that end chases early, nor the absence of the effect of validation on various loops, nor....
But at least it "counters 1 shot downs."

@Munqaxus said:

it is actually very easy. Setup 10 to 20 random routes on multiple maps. Have the route have a drop and a vault available to use in that route. Take Sprint Burst, Dead Hard, Lithe, Balanced Landing and Overcome and test the amount of chase time each exhaustion perk gives you on average before you are downed. If you don't have Balanced Landing, then you avoid the drop part of the route (The drop should follow the route pretty closely or you can even just not test Balanced Landing with the rest).
If Dead Hard is overperforming you will see it. It's amazing simple to show an exhaustion perk is overperforming in chases.
lol
Seems fair and legit.

As many forum posts as I see on this, yet not a single one has made any effort to prove it's "broken".
*nod nod*
Show me the data that proves all these people are wrong - should be easy, right?
It's not like you're expecting people to somehow have access to developer-only data and using this lack of access to discredit thousands of other players, popular streamers, literal dev replies to various tickets regarding validation issues, etc.
That would be a pretty bad look and extremely disingenuous.

Show us the data proving Dead Hard is overperforming other exhaustion perks by extending chases longer than other exhaustion perks do.

Don’t let those idiots get to you. I had another match with 3 of my friends and the pyramid head just wanted to meme around. We crouched in front of him forming and he was school. But then a random Claudette tried to blind Him with a flashlight. We helped the killer kill her. I sandbagged her it was satisfying. The pyramid head helped me with my challenge and I gave him a hook in return. Luckily he was PlayStation so I messaged him. Just keep your head up they just wanted to get you angry. They are the type that just want to bully killers unfortunately. I wish people weren’t toxic but there are always gonna be some cobra Kai’s
Get 'em a bodybag!

So after some insanely frustrating games as Myers, I decided to let the Demogorgon out for a walk as I'm pretty confident on him these days. First two games - someone DCs instantly, then people give up. Ugh.
Next, get sent to The Game. Oh joy, looks like a full stack SWF. 4 cakes is always an indicator.
Actually end up doing pretty well with my 'sonar' build (Whistle+Lining) and wind up with David DCing on his second hook and everyone else on their last hook at 2 gens left. Some really fun chases, so I decide 'what the hell', I'll give them all the gate as they seem to be playing together, I like everyone to get BP and I've likely already got my ruthless.
Postgame (edited for content, assume it was 1000% worse):
Me: Fun game, well played all.
Tapp: Why you let us go?
Nea: Trash idiot killer.
Me: You were fun and brought me cakes, so you all get gate.
Me: Zuh?
Nea: lol private steam profile of course. scared of being told u suck?
Tapp: lol you think ur better than us?
Nea: babykiller noob get sick and die of cancer
Claudette: I hope u die ugly and slow
Claudette: dogcrap killer moron
Me: Geez, who hurt you?
Tapp: loser get a life
Nea: u aren't even human
Really should have screencapped that one for the collection.
This community, I swear. Some people just want to watch the world burn. And guess who's going to sweat that extra little bit tomorrow...
I get a lot of censor bypassed N-bombs these days, especially when I lose, oddly enough.
I usually try to report them all with the hopes they'll be removed from the community....I hope you do the same.
Also, remember that it's a mental/social deficiency in the offending party - You've done nothing wrong.

That's what I was thinking too, but I guess they mean like not healing after the first hook.
I guess it counters all those killers out there that try to one shot you when you're injured instead of clicking M1...unless they mean devaluing the One Shot by staying injured...?
-
@Munqaxus said:
Dead Hard serves as a counter to 1-hit downs. No other perk can do this. Everything should have a counter in the game. Slugging is Unbreakable and Exponential. Camping is Borrowed Time. Tunneling-till-dead is Decisive Strike. One-hit downs is Dead Hard.
Maybe there should be some additional One-hit down counters, other than Dead Hard, then Dead Hard wouldn't be used as often.
Interesting logic.
-
I think it's a good idea in theory, but I can't think of any universal buff that they could give killers to make up for the infinite amount of free information (ie - Survivor A is in a chase, I know the killer is Ghostface. I no longer have to worry about being stalked or releasing M1 unless the chase is brought near me) without completely redesigning the game.
Maybe the devs will prove me wrong.
I certainly hope so!

Sophistry? Give me a break.
You compare a flashlight click because it bothers you, to face-camping when people get 2 things out of it, a BM and an advantage towards their objective. So no, it isn't just "The Bubba camped and hit me on hook" It is also "The Bubba camped and BM'd me on hook, meanwhile the game thinks they are playing the game".
Again, if you actually read and invested into more than just implying things you would know that the reason I brought it up is because of the feedback that was received which was the entire point of why the masks were removed.
I was only bringing light to the fact that many of those cases if not all, they all had one thing in common which was that they face-camped. This was after I watched a video in trying to understand some of the players that have been victims of racist harassment and how it needs to be addressed. It isn't and shouldn't be limited to the removal of the masks.
A playstyle that people (including yourself) like to throw around as a "strat" when it isn't. Hence why it is being looked at.
I think what is absurd is that you are being cynical when all I was trying to do is be sympathetic towards the players who have had to face the racist BS.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2741612#Comment_2741612
Yeah? And I see some things still stay the same even in 2022.
Definitely.
I'm hoping they crack down on the gaslighting attempts people propose against players using certain playstyles.
Hopefully, 2022 will be a better year for all players.

DS is only super strong during endgame, imo.
With the current popularity of Perks like NWO/BW and maybe.....Remember Me(I'm actually pumped for its buff), more players are opting to extend the endgame which, in turn, weakens/shortens the window of opportunity to use time-sensitive perks (IE Deliverance/BT/DS) in an autonomous/'freebie' manner. These 'stall' perks also have the added bonus of lessening the impact of such perks if they do go off while the game is 'stalled.' NOED can also help you get downs during this period.
You can also check people for DS if you run across the unhooked person and down them within a minute or even tunnel them if you want to.
There's a decent number of ways to weaken/remove its endgame use regardless of whatever 'ruleset' you want to play by.

in every game ever the actual average player is heavily skewed towards the bottom. For example only 54% of all players have the achievement to level up a character to 10.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/2ZLECUFULVTX/capture-png.png
So when anybody says the "average" player they don't mean the 50% of players that have never leveled up a character to 10, they mean an average level of skill, more towards the middle. It wouldn't make much sense to include ALL players because you'd be talking about babies.
You realize that the game has had tons of free weekends, has been included in various humble bundles/fanatical deals. etc?
Anyone that logs into the game 1x contributes to these statistics.
There are literally thousands upon thousands of 'dead' accounts out there that most likely have 0-1 achievements completed - It's the same reason people say certain 'impossible' achievements are nowhere near as hard to obtain as the percentages say (I have most of them, I'm booty).

It is but only for a handful of killers. If we are comparing averages, then no, survivor is objectively stronger.
It must be pretty disheartening when you/otz/anyone make videos/posts/etc about various topics only to have people completely miss the point and try to cater it towards their own internal narratives.

@Johnny_XMan said:

So, do you think that the players who became victims of harassment would still have raised an issue as targeted had they not been face camped? Even in the video put together that is being shown around you have examples where a player says “Face camp? Yup, It’s cuz I’m black”.
Those killer players utilized Bubba and an abusive playstyle to harass them. Maybe it is only really an issue with Bubba because of his exclusive design, where he can down multiple targets at the hook, but it is still a problem when you factor in what the person doing the bullying is using to harass.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2737894#Comment_2737894
I don't think face-camping is racist. All I am saying is look at all the elements which take place, because Face-camping in and of itself isn't even balanced right now. Newer survivors have no clue what to do when they don't even have the only perks that sort of deter these type of playstyles at their disposal. So, again I am not saying flat out remove it, because it isn't the mask issue, but it is objectively something that all these harassing players have in common in terms of what they are using to target the players.
It sure is objective....if you take away the other 5 or 6 methods (I can't be bothered to look at my own post...at least not in this topic).
No idea why all these bad faith topics are running rampant as of late, but they definitely don't do anything to better the community or validate any real issues.
-
For every dream that's broken, another one comes true.
*rides away with Private Malone*
-
Or they slug for the full duration or they tunnel off the hook or they knock the same player down over and over while puppy guarding them or nod/hit them before leaving the hook or....
-
People stand AFK in front of the gates when they're getting destroyed or bullied and open the gate ASAP.
I've never seen anyone mention getting banned for it.

I love the fake premise that the two are even remotely comparable. Dead Hard is a one time use perk during chase. Exhaustion cd stops while you're still running. It also requires strategic use for it to have any sort of value. What's the point of DH if you go down immediately after using it? I don't even use DH btw. It's literally the worst exhaustion perk so it's hilarious that that's the one killer mains complain about. I play killer too. The amount of times I've downed survivors after using dead hard by simply not lunging is astronomical. As a killer you have every tool to win a chase, you just have to outsmart the survivor. Uh, maybe don't waste 2 minutes chasing a survivor who is making you look like a clown??? Literally, duh. If you can't down a chase in two minutes, you are doing something very, very, very wrong. The idea that running the killer is easy is also hilarious. But sure sure, you play survivor too and it's "incredibly easy" lol. I play solo and I always have to run the killer because my team can't. I consistently go take the heat from the killer when I see a teammate injured because it's the best chance at getting gens done and getting out. Yeah, if I can run your sorry ass for 15 minutes without taking a single hit and have finally dead zoned the map because I have no more pallets, YOU DO NOT DESERVE THE KILL. Let alone a snowball to a 3 or 4k.
But please please, post a video showing how incredibly easy it is to run a killer an "pressing a button" for DH will grant you the ability to run the killer for an additional 5 minutes without any skill. What a quack.
I laughed a few times.
Thanks :)
-
Her directional audio makes her very easy to counter at long loops and any structure with a window.
She's not very hard to play against in a lot of scenarios...and I don't even run IW.
Most of the successful Spirits I have played since her nerf (less than 10), used her power primarily for mobility or to win short loops.

Instead of complaining about NOED, cleanse totems or at the very least memorize where totems are during the game so you can quickly destroy the NOED or bless it at the endgame.
I just use Detective's Hunch on my totem build...literally lets you know where any totems are endgame in the event that NOED procs.

What did you use to search for totems?
Curious as I can get 2-4 totems solo and still escape most games using Detective's Hunch, if that's what I want to run.
Edited to add that I never use Maps or Small Game/Counterforce, if that matters.
Edited again to say that DH also lets you know where NOED is when it procs for easy cleansing.

One thing that seems to be getting more and more obvious is that people only engage with patches in terms of buffs and nerfs, and that's a pretty limiting way to look at it- especially when you take this hyper-tribal us vs them look.
I'm not defending the weird addon nerfs, they were unnecessary (except pinkie finger obviously), but they are not the only thing in this patch. The addon changes in general aren't the only things in this patch. There's updates to the game's security, a massive project to help bring one of the buggiest killers more stability, two accessibility/interaction changes, and an attempted fix for the DH validation issue. That doesn't scream "record breaking survivor sidedness" to me.
To be fair, if the cheater issue is lessened, people WILL praise this patch, regardless of what they say here.

Clown was the 2nd weakest iirc.
No time for 2nd place!
Now that he is the weakest, maybe next patch they can buff one of his weaker add-ons...like Pinky Finger or his 4% Flask (I'd make it 5%).

No.
The fact of the matter is that Clown got objectively weaker this patch. Twins got effectively weaker. Nemesis got effectively weaker.
You know who didn't need buffs? Nurse. The one Killer they buffed.
Am I glad Nurse is fixed? Sure, it's great she's working properly. Does that mean she needed to get stronger than she was already? No. Does that justify nerfing astronomically weaker Killers? No. Does it excuse not addressing CoH? No.
Nurse is statistically the weakest killer.
I, for one, am glad that something is finally being done about her abysmal kill rate.
