Hard disagree, after I played him more... his chains are very much slowing down the survivor in loops... if you can aim too.
His chains are great. At short loops. That are already unsafe.
You can't get value from them when they are faraway.
For better or worse, his chain hunt IS his power. The best thing I've found is to maximize that.
Hoarder, Franklin's, Ruin, PGTW with his two slowing down Lament Configuration solving add-ons.

I dont feel like he's terribly unbalanced. What makes you say that?
He's pretty weak unless chain hunt is up.
His standard chains are pretty much useless.

I guess you can't tell with your actual games?
You don't need a number telling you you had fun.
I certainly didn't have fun, since I play at what I can only assume is high MMR.
I get 35 minute queue times and 7 minutes of match time. Extremely fun.

@Schardon said:
It's there to provide better match making and thus a better and more fair game experience.
DBD is not a super competitive hardcore game like League of Legends or Counter Strike and it can't be without being completely reworked. You're not able to see your MMR because you're not supposed to chase after it. It's simply just sitting there for less stompy games.
I understand that most people don't see the point in that because everybody is so accustomed to "push that rating" of literally every other PvP game, but DBD is different. It's a far too casual and unbalanced game to be compared to other games and their match making / ranking systems.
I am competitive.
I want to know if I'm good. I'd like to see how good I am.
If my matches are going to take a nose-dive fun wise (which so far they have) and if I'm going to sit in 35 minute queues (as I am right now) then I'd like to at LEAST be able to see how I stack up.

It's working considerably better than it's predecessor. Matches have already been better. Matching players based on their actual skill level. As the system continues to collect information it will continue to improve.
Oh, is it?
I couldn't tell since we have no numbers.
-
I've played a lot of Pinhead, mostly because he's the only Killer I can play without 35 minute queues

Unfortunately, the Twins are just poorly designed.
Their strengths are exceedingly unfun to play against, but there isn't much of another way to play them.

Twins are good, but only via a super unfun playstyle, but, they are good.

I wonder if his power was somewhat similar to Doctor's with the add-on of a circle instead of a line PR if he threw out his power like Clown would've been better...or too broken? I really want to play Pinhead, he's an all-time favorite Horror icon of mine, but I feel he's gonna be unfun to play against the better Survivors with trying to land hits that MUST be used at the best time/spot or you wind up with not much of a net positive, even if you land the hits. Also afraid of what the performance & aiming will be like on console for myself.
Performance is fine, so far as I can tell.
It isn't worse.
Avoid The Game tho. There are a ton of unbreakable pallets that create god loops.
-
@ad19970 said:
I'm sorry, I just don't see how he is weak. His chains are good enough in chase and he has a second objective built into his base kit.
His chains are awful in chase?
They are only useful at unsafe loops.
Clown does everything Pinhead does but better, minus his slowdown.
The only time Pinhead is remotely threatening is when Chain Hunt is up and through 10 matches, it's never activated.
He sure is annoying to play against though.
-
Constant disconnects that are forced by the game.
Unbreakable pallets on The Game.
Performance is eh. Dead Hard seems to be 70/30 for me. Most of the time it doesn't lag.
Pinhead is seriously weak. He's Clown if Clown needed to hit a Deathslinger shot to slow down Survivors. The chains are pretty useless and I've yet to either see a Chain Hunt or find a box.
-
He seems pretty bad.
Takes all of the finesse of Nurse, with a power level comparable to Clown and with an aiming scheme like Trickster.

Well, it'd make sense why they did it for steam family share but maybe in doing so it did it for other platforms
It's the only reasonable explanation I can think of, maybe BHVR just messed up big again
It wouldn't be surprising.
Either way, I can't get into matches nor can I level up Pinhead.

Alright then I believe they may have done something to prevent this from happening, Some games on steam, for example cannot be steam family shared in an effort to curb cheating and ban evasion
With the onslaught of cheaters lately maybe BHVR tried to do the same
Ah yes, all of the cheaters on console.

My bad, thought you were talking about console game sharing. I've heard most people call it family sharing on steam so it through me off.
It's close.
You basically just share games or subscriptions with one friend.
-

Yeah, I restarted the game and the console.
This error has been happening since I got the update installed.

So it's basically like steam family share? Does it work with DLCs too?
Something tells me they may have intentionally disabled such a thing to stop people sharing DLCs
Yes, it works with any game or add-on to said game.
I gameshare with my younger brother so that he can use my Xbox Live subscription. My friend gameshares with me, so I get his Game Pass subscription. It only works one way though. You can't just infinitely share games. For example, because my friend bought CoD Ghosts back in 2014 off of the Xbox Store, I have it. My brother doesn't though, because I don't own it, I'm only sharing it with my friend.

Yeah, kinda sorta sounds like you're both trying to play on one purchase which wouldn't be allowed, I'm sure.
Gameshare is an Xbox feature that allows you to basically share games with one other friend. It is officially recognized and supported by Microsoft. It's an intended feature and it has always worked before this patch.
In short, it's allowed and encouraged.

Getting a ton of sync errors and infinite loading screens.
I literally cannot level up anyone because the game says "Currency sync error" and boots me to the main menu then hits me with the infinite loading screen.

Is it really so hard to accept that there is a difference between a SWF deathsquad or MDR Spirit main, and a normal player?
Edit: And seriously, every casual game has hidden SBMM. That has been an industry standard for years.
Where did I say anything about deathsquads?
I mentioned maps and their RNG, specifically.
-
@MadLordJack said:
First: I agree, we need to know.
Second: No, that's a terrible idea. Every single casual multiplayer game or game mode in history has a SBMM system, including current DbD (that's what the pips were). Having it be visible drives sensless competitive play. People will gatekeep discussions and divide the community, forcing people to increase their score to be taken seriously no matter how intelligent, logical or empathetic they are, because that's how competition works: a minority are competitive, and through their borderline-subconsious behaviour they drive other people who would otherwise not be competitive into being competitive. This isn't specific to videogames.
TLDR: If you are mkstly getting games you could either win or lose, then the system is working.
Third: I don't care. I really don't. That's just an example of people digging their own graves. If you don't treat this game like Siege or Overwatch, you won't be there. That is less than 1% of the community. If people don't want tournament-style games, don't be sweatylords than need to never lose. Chill out. Take weaker perks. Take the game less seriously. The new system is literally designed to get competitive players out of the general population and into their own hell. Everyone else, including the kinda sweaty players, won't be there.
Lastly, IT DOESN'T ######### MATTER.
Yes, that was a shout and some swearing, because the system isn't designed to make the game competitive. I really need to make sure that that statement gets through to people: it doesn't matter if you're using weaker perks than the next person. The point is having fairer trials, and this isn't a competitive game so YOUR SKILL DOESNT MATTER. Only the outcome. Admittedly, I'm not too happy about that, but that's just how it is and if I could let go of my desire to see my skill reflected in my teammates and opponents, you can to.
Edit: I'm serious about point 3. It's just the poeple that have to always be swfing and always run the strongest builds that will be there.
Who cares about fair if it isn't fun for people playing the game?
I absolutely think BHVR is toeing the line between casual and competitive. SBMM IS a feature in all competitive games. You know what game didn't have SBMM? Call of Duty. As soon as they implemented it they started to move to a more competitive-minded game.
If the system doesn't take important variables into consideration, like maps and their RNG, then this system is just as flawed as the old one.
Also, they are essentially giving a huge middle finger to anyone who actually IS competitive and plays to win. Just like meme'ing is a valid playstyle, so is taking the game more seriously and I feel compelled after reading your statements to remind you of that.
-
@Kilmeran said:

Look, I don't give a flying ######### what you voice on the BHVR forums. I never told you to not voice your opinion or to not make threads. Save your victim card for someone who gives a damn about that. I stated the obvious. You want to keep yelling into the wind, do so. Tomorrow, SBMM goes live. It goes live in the form stated by BHVR. You don't like it, they made it clear they don't care. That is that.
If you want to simply sit down and accept whatever people throw at you, far be it from me to tell you not to do so.
Your entire point is that because BHVR has made it clear that they are launching SBMM, I should simply stop criticizing it.
They ignored Console Optimization for two years and now we are finally getting somewhere, change can happen. It sure as hell took a lot of "yelling into the wind" to get that to happen.
But that's not the point of this discussion. I wanted to talk about the legitimate issues I have with the system that will go live.

Look, judging by the test phase we KNOW what a win is:
It's showing actual skill. Meaning: no camping, no slugging and tunneling, no tricking people into thinking you are bad when you have noed waiting, no BM squads that do nothing other than trying to get the killer to DC etc.
We CAN tell from the testphase and a bit of logic.
That's entirely based off of your opinion of skill.
I think it's likely that camping has a penalty but we literally do not know.

Dude, I'm not defending BHVR's decision making. I'm just stating the obvious. SBMM goes live in less than 24 hours. BHVR's decisions on how it's going Live is clear at this point. It's not going to change at this point in time. At this point, it's just time to decide if you (a general "you") will continue under the SBMM as it is right now, or move on and speak with your play time and money.
And I'm not allowed to express my opinion about the reservations I have with the proposed system?
Why would I continue to fight for Console Optimization if it's "clear BHVR has made their decision at this point."
-
@Kilmeran said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2476290#Comment_2476290
You have been vocal for some time, and I'm not stating that like it's a bad thing. But it's been discussed ad nauseam and BHVR has made their decisions on how it is being handled and how it's going into the Live game.
So, all the remains now is for players like yourself to who are strongly against it to make a decision: Do you keep playing DbD under BHVR's terms for the SBMM system, or do you move on to a different game?
That's the only thing left at this stage.
BHVR also decided that the Resident Evil chapter was fine and in an acceptable state for Console players.
-
@TicTac said:
Win condition: would be nice, but im fine with playing for 4k/3ks with Hatch.
Visible ranking: we need one. 100%. I think without one i will quit after 2 chapter. I want to have a goal.
Killer: they really need to speed up their work pace. Significant changes every big patch. Use the data from the MMR.
Addons etc dont matter: its ok, but they should nerf outlier like they did before (iridescent head). Buff weak things like almost 70% of the perks. But the most important part is that every busted map needs to be toned down. Rework map rng, some tile combos are just broken.
Add-ons do matter.
You can't tell me a All-Seeing Silent Bell Wraith is the same strength as a no add-on Wraith.
-
I was talking months ago too.
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
I thought the first part was really well done and absolutely agree. The killer variety at high levels is a balance issue, however, it has nothing to do with mmr. I wish more survivors would advocate for killer buffs since it is mostly their concern. But whatever, they reap what they sow. Nobody cares.
As for builds? That is basically the main point of mmr.
It sort of does have something to do with MMR. As of now, you can play anyone at Rank 1. I've certainly seen plenty of variety in my Survivor games. However, once MMR roles out, we'll see certain Killers be unable to pass a certain MMR. Yes, this is fundamentally a balance issue, but it does leave zero variety at higher ranks.
MMR isn't determining skill accurately if it isn't taking into consideration the map, the RNG on said map, the build, the items/add-ons and the offedings.

This happened live the other day.
BHVR needs to get on this.

I'm pretty sure- not certain but fairly sure- this is because stranger things is being taken over by Disney.
I don't think Netflix would pull one series when it was making them decent amounts of money, and I even believe they would be reasonable about the price because this would just be another source of revenue for Netflix.
Disney on the other hand I believe is trying to monopolise stranger things into a series that only they can profit off. They don't need the extra money, and therefore are more likely to split ties.
Disney doesn't own ST or Netflix.

Title says it all. I want BHVR to define what a "Win" is in the game. For all I know as BHVR devs are not in the Higher MMR brackets a win are the following.
Survivor: Escape
Killer: 3 Kills
If this is the case, A Blendette who has a Key and escaped via hatch while 3 Teammates are Dead and 5 Gens are remaining is considered Skillful. A Trapper who got Genrushed with no hooks and got 3 Kills via NoED is also skillful.
I hate the SBMM as the blogpost is hinting that a win is just 3 Kills and an Escape. The guy who lopped the Killer for 5 gens and died being face camped is not as skillful as the guy who escaped via Key.
"No, because that would let people abuse the system and they definitely won't if we don't say anything."

Every system can be exploited and by revealing how it works you ain't helping at all to prevent the exploiting from happening. I don't think is a perfect system, but it's much better than what we have, and yes... obviously like in most other games people will still try to abuse or exploit it, but at least devs aren't helping such bad behavior by even exposing how it works.
Instead, they've completely hidden it and said "trust us" when we literally know not to trust them.
