Dbd is playable on ps4 pro (ssd) w no lag. Xbox one x w no lag. U can also play on next gen consoles or PC.
Actually, Xbox One X has the same issues as the base Consoles.

Correct. But adding SBMM here didn't suddenly make it a Competitive mode. It's the same concept as the MMR system in, say, Overwatch. The MMR system in RoleQ Quick Play is there to try to facilitate fair matches.
They did pick a side: casual. Adding SBMM doesn't change that when other casual modes in games also have an MMR calculation to facilitate fair matches.
Again, why does it matter if we can see it though?
We know that the system is flawed already. If you wanted to de-rank, just AFK.
-
@Kilmeran said:
Well, no, it doesn't have to be. Just that some of you want it to be.
When I play Quick Play in Overwatch, I have zero clue what my MMR is. Blizzard doesn't show it. And 5+ years later, I'm still playing the game.
Likewise, in Competitive, you do.
There's no reason to not show it, especially since SBMM is really only used in competitive games. They need to pick a side, is this game casual or not? If it is, no need for SBMM. If it isn't, remove the RNG aspects.

too bad. so I won't believe you. AFAIK, it was something taken out of context or said as a joke that people took way too seriously.
I never said they will balance FOR top players. it's just more data for them to have a better picture. meaning, top players will impact the changes, but won't be the focus.
plenty of people tell them opposite things. it's no surprise you can point and say "they don't listen to X", you can do that no matter which decision they make, it's a non argument unless you can prove every person that talked to them said the same thing. can you?
I don't need to prove anything. because this game literally gets bug fixes every update. but they don't care right? why would they change the game so people will enjoy playing it more?
Go find them yourself.
I'm perfectly content to watch myself be proven right. Even if I'm not, I still win because the game gets fixed.

plenty of actual reasons to complain, don't make one up.
they have not. you have yet to show it. all you gave is "not the focus" which is very different from "have no intention of helping the higher MMR players"
I can't go and find stream clips from years past.
You need only look at their actions to determine whether or not they will balance the game for the top players. They've had 5 years, plenty of data, plenty of people telling them to, but they haven't. Ergo, it is not illogical to conclude that they will not.
Where's your proof that they are going to do something, even if it is 3 years from now?

Player feedback has been doing that for years. It's not MMR/SBMM that now suddenly makes any Balance issues appear, they've been there and we've been vocal about them. Relying solely on Data is why the issues aren't solved. For such a niche game, you guys are lucky to have so manny dedicated and skilled players who constantly give you all the info and feedback you could hope for. There's a reason most people Believe Feedback doesn't matters and that's because the course of actions is always DATA, DATA, DATA feedback here or there. Want a gigantic example of BHVR and Players disconnect? The HUD Changes, nobody asked for it, they went ahead and the backlash was there so the HUD had to be changed again. It appears you only listen to feedback when the uproar is too big to ignore...
Also where's Q&A and testing? How come players are always the ones reporting the issues? How could RE Chapter have such a poor launch? Was none of it tested on Consoles? Cause that's exactly what it looks like. There's no way you guys tested it on Console and had no issues like everyone did at launch.
I understand if you can't or don't wanna answer but alot of what you guys say it's honestly very hard to trust or believe in because the past experiences are pretty bad. Even the Focus on the bigger events was proven to be a total joke, the annyversary event was a copy and paste job. It's pretty damn hard to take anything you guys say seriously.
They actually did test RE on Consoles, as in the Patch Notes, there were known issues for Xbox One.
Not sure if it's better or worse that they did test it and pushed it out anyway.

that's just a non sequitur. they are slow, but they do deal with issues.
they announced the key rework for this year. it's still this year.
and do you honestly think they would just watch the game die and not do something about it?
If it was only affecting a minority of players, yes.
They announced 60 FPS for Consoles almost 3 years ago.
Key Rework was announced LAST YEAR. I could pull more examples of BHVR being extremely slow to change ANYTHING.
They've repeatedly shown they have a very interesting view of balance and have no intention of helping the higher MMR players.

Ah right, so if they can already derank.... let's make the rating public so even if it's a better system... and the rating was hidden, let's make it public because they can already do it. Why? just why would you think like this
You have a problem with Overwatch's ranking system? Or Siege's?
Just give me SOMETHING to look at to see a leaderboard, if I'm going to be put in objectively less enjoyable matches, I should have some reward.

Abused to exploit the system, if you have say a score between 100-200, you would have to play worse a handful of games to decrease significantly in your rating.... knowing exactly the progress, you'd know exactly how much you need to play bad/ throw games to decrease so you get against weaker players.
Maybe in the future they will but that's the issue that will arise.
Like how people throwing games to de-rank doesn't already happen...oh wait.
There's no good argument for not having a visual indicator of MMR.

is that all? did scott cut it too short?
because all that mclean (is that how you write the name?) said is that the competitive scene isn't the focus. not that they will never look at it and make any changes to it.
it's not different from the smash creators going "we understand people play this competitively, but we consider it a party game" and yet it gets balance changes, maps have a "competitive" option etc.
just because they focus on one aspect, doesn't mean the others don't matter to them.
on scott, he makes a weird point about speed... like if people say "they can look at the top % data and make changes based on that" and his counter argument is "they are slow"... like, so what? who said they'll suddenly get fast? the argument is just "they get better data, they can use it"
His argument is that it took 4 years to change Iri Head.
BHVR does not work fast. They announced a Key rework over a year ago and it still isn't here.
Even if they do see a problem at high ranks, it'll take a year for any real progress to be made, by which point, most people would leave.

3k Hours here. I'd say I'm rather good enough in the game to get consistent 4ks even against a 4-man SWF with Keys that brings me to Corn Maps with Hatch Offerings.
I still want MMR because even if some of those games can be stressful, they're the ones I remember most as having fun with if I can overcome them. I'm not talking about just using Nurse and #########. I've won games with Deathslinger on large maps with coordinated teams. I've won games as Demo against a "competitive" Korean group who proceeded to insult me after the game.
I'd rather get fairer games even if it means there's a higher frequency of me dealing with people like these. Because I know I can deal with them, I want to be challenged. What's the point of playing a game if you're not challenged?

Or maybe I want to go against people of similar skills as me, and have those of same skill on my team and don't want easy 4ks or get completely stomped because of people who got boosted to the same place as me because they only play SWF.

Alright, let's look at the scenarios:
Good scenario: SBMM works pretty well, people can relax a bit more and devs can focus on performance etc
Bad scenario: SBMM doesn't work, but devs go on to working on a complete different feature ignoring the existing issues.
Best scenario: SBMM works and puts all the people prone to BMing together, freeing the community from them, and allowing the devs to get some actual worthwhile statistics in to do some proper tweaking, buffing and nerfing, while they fix the performance etc.
Secret scenario: As best scenario, but with a lingerie edition
Most likely scenario: It's the same system just hidden.

Actually, yes, treating trials like tournaments is sweaty. There's a difference between "trying to win" and "I WILL NEVER LOOOOSSSEEE!!!!!!" that a lot of sweaty players don't understand, and to be perfectly honest I'm sick of the latter, both being it and going against it.
"Trying to win" is bringing good perks and doing your best, but not really taking it overly seriously and accepting that large parts of DbD are out of your control.
"I WILL NEVER LOSE" is only playing the strongest killers or in a SWF with the most optimised build, strongest items and add-ons, hardcore tunneling, camping and slamming gens because you cannot possible fathom a world in which you aren't one of the best. (The irony here being that hardcore camping and tunnelling isn't that effective against the teams hardcore campers and tunnellers pretend they are going against).
There's virtually no difference between those two though.
If you try to win, you'll probably camp or tunnel if the match calls for it. Likewise, if you want to win as Survivor, you are probably gonna bring good perks.
There's very little difference between those two styles of play, really what you are describing is a difference in attitude.

Well, they can't balance around the casual AND the top % part of the community.
Also, the problem with your idea is that people will 100% use that to abuse the system.
They won't already?
If you do what Overwatch did with Competitive, where past a certain SR you can't play with more than 2 players, I think that would work fine. Likewise, you could start limiting item usage or perk choices at higher MMR. That way it would scale with how good players are and it wouldn't affect lower ranked players.
But that's just a very basic, probably flawed, idea.

Not really,BHVR just chooses balance more towards the casual part of the community.
Which is,in my opinion, the better option, considering that the casual part takes up like 99.9% of the playerbase.
The game would completely die if the devs decide to balance towards tournament skill level.
Correct. Balancing FOR the top % is a bad idea.
Balancing the top % is something different, though my idea would probably involve a visible MMR indicator.

DbD is a casual game, the Devs don't want to change that, so instead they're locking away all those people that pretend every trial is a tournament they have to win.
So it's not just shifting the problem. Sweaty players being forced to play against sweaty players instead of normal players is a damn fine solution, and we've had plenty of warning that this was coming in order to chill out.
Trying to win is sweaty? Do you...not try to win?
DbD is a casual game that refuses to pick a side, there's no way SBMM will actually work in an asymmetrical game.

Then can we put it post-game?
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
It makes sense that the Killer can see the Items.
I agree on Names and Profiles. Those should be hidden, gameplay-wise there is 0 reason to see them before the Match.
I agree in principle, but I'd lose the ability to message Survivors pre-game and ask them to remove the Key they are bringing.
Also, if names are hidden, can we put an indication of whether they are SWF or not? I don't want to uber sweat vs Solo's.

Yes,top levels of play in DbD is definetely unbalanced and problematic. But the thing is,that doesn't affect like 99,9% of the community.Only a handful of people are able to reach those levels.
So,comparing tournament levels of play to the more casual part of the community doesn't matter and is irrelevant to balancing.
I don't really see why content creators would get burned out because of SBMM.Truth is,most content creators are not super highly skilled at the game either.Even if it may look like that.
In my experience,SBMM will pair you with the type of players that match your playstyle.Full Meta loadout every single game? That's what you're gonna verse.
You like to play chill and experiement with off meta perks? Then you're gonna play against players with a similiar approach to the game.
And those people don't matter?
I'm sorry for being concerned about my own experience in the game.

-
@Seraphor said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2470982#Comment_2470982
The game won't be balanced at high level play unless we get MMR. Because so far there's been no easy way to measure relative skill and the impact of imbalances in the game.
Did they win because they had an imbalanced perk? or did they win because they went against relative noobs? The ranking system puts all players in the top 6 ranks in a pool together. It's easy enough to reach rank 1 without actually being that good at the game (I've reached rank 2 and I'm a ######### survivor) but then you also have rank 1s goings against rank 6s.
Rank based matchmaking is a shitshow and it's a wonder they've ever been able to get any useful data out of the game so far without SBMM.
That isn't the issue. They have said in the past they don't want to balance those places. And even if they do, it'll take a year to do anything
I'm also a ######### Survivor and am at Rank 4.
-
@Seraphor said:

Only if you are in the top .1% of players. I know your ego is pretty big but still.
Again, more insults, not a lot of rebuttals.
I'm saying even as a player who got boosted to the top % and is falling down to where they should be (ie great player but not quite top %) you'll still be matched with them because there will be WAY more Survivors than Killers at high MMR and the game will expand the matchmaking pool if the queue is too long.
-
@Seraphor said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2470891#Comment_2470891
Why do we need SBMM in a casual game? So casual players can actually play it without getting stomped on by the top players all the time.
You matter precisely as much as everyone else, which is why you should be paired up with players of an equal skill level. How is this hard to understand?
You want to be paired up with players of a lower skill level than you, so that you can win easier matches with less effort, and ruin the games of your opponents. That is your entire issue with SBMM. How does that not make you a bully? You need to practice a little self-reflection.
I didn't say I wanted easier matches, don't put words in my mouth, friend.
I said that the matches at high MMR are inherently unfair and that no amount of skill will change that. Why do you think tournaments put such heavy restrictions on Survivor?
Until the game is balanced at high MMR, it WILL be miserable for everyone who is good at the game. I'm perfectly content to wait 6 months and watch more and more content creators step away and get burnt out because the game is so ######### at high MMR.
-
@Seraphor said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2470923#Comment_2470923
That's precisely what SBMM will fix.
If you keep getting annihilated when playing as weaker killers, then you will lower your MMR with that killer, until you face opponents of equal skill.
Each killer will find it's niche in SBMM, instead of all being judged by the same metric as Nurse and Spirit.
Lol, no it won't.
Because you lose, that means the Survivors win, ergo their MMR increases.
They get longer queues (since they keep winning) which causes the game to expand the acceptable pool of matches which means you play against them anyway.

Feels to me a little bit more like there's people that only have fun dominating and it's defined as 'sweating' when the majority or all matches are against good skill players on the other side. There's a huge rate of bragging in this community about how they're all 'dominating' or whatever against the other side. I'm getting the distinct impression that's all been a function of the ranked matchmaking not working that great and now, the MMR system is actually pitting the top of each side against each other and they don't like it. They want some matches where they can lord it over the other side and win!
I never get above mid ranks because I love things like rescuing people after EGC and dying, even though they escape. I'm also ######### at chase, often running right into the killer all on my own and getting downed. I'm fine with it.
All this MMR contention really feels like people whining that they at once want to be perceived as the best player but also, please don't make me play against the best players on the other side.
Nah, it just sucks to play only Nurse and Spirit and if you dare play anyone else you get annihilated.

I will just quote a random reply of yours to share my opinion.
If you say that in the top% it is so hard to win as killers, then what do you think will happen?
We all know devs ONLY base the balancing on data. If they see that at high MMR, kill rates are so low that they barely exist, don't you think that'll give them enough DaTA to balance swf once and for all? Ofc they never touched swf considering that they couldn't get enough dAtA.
Honestly I believe MMR will help with the data and make balancing far better.
I might as well be wrong.
I think BHVR will do nothing, as they've done for the last 5 years.
They know the game is bad at high levels, they've said repeatedly that they do not care and they will not balance it
