I can confirm this is not the cause.
I was playing itemless and crashed outside of a boon totem zone. It seemed to be completely random.

I wasn't speaking about you. I don't believe you did the same thing at all.
You seem like a nice person so I refuse to believe you are kind of a person who told someone to off themselves etc.
I know, but I speak from experience.
Everyone can change. Even me, and I was a huge #########.
I try to make up for it these days though.

"Kid" doesn't cut it anymore tbh. I was a kid too and I was never like these people.
I don't even know how to call them people at this point since they just act on their impulses whenever their ego gets bruised. They don't care about anyone else.
I lost hope in humanity long time ago so ti kinda helps tbh lol.
I'm ashamed to say that I was.
But I changed and realized the consequences of my actions and how much I was hurting people I had called friends.
I don't believe they are evil, but maybe you are right.

Tbh, I'm just glad it isn't Yui's motorcycle destroying my eardrums.

What's worse about that is that a few years ago I was one of these kids sending hate messages over videogames. I actually have no clue if there is even a solution to that. The easy thing to say is "grow a spine" but that's obviously very hard for some people and it can get through most people when it becomes the norm. Sad.
I think a lot of us were at some point.
Or if we weren't, we've done and said a lot of things we regret.
But yeah, it's wearing me down. I also feel guilty that I don't want to take that anymore, because then they'll find someone else. Maybe me responding and engaging is preventing someone else from being a target and by not doing that, I'm damning someone else.
I dunno, I think too much I guess.

The very first message was "Unalive yourself" and they hadn't engaged at all at that point.
These accounts need reporting and banning.
Being honest, in the first picture I had said gg to them prior to their messages or invites.

I've gotten messages like this while in a bad place mentally and it made things worse for me.
I honestly don't get why some people feel the need to attack others and say hurtful things over something as dumb as a video game. I really hope they get banned.
I don't hope they get banned, a ban is temporary.
I really hope they realize the potential consequences of their hurtful words and change.
I was a dumb kid once too. I said things that I desperately wish I could take back, that I could never say today. I hope they grow in the same way, hopefully with fewer regrets than me.

Yep I have experience in overwatch too. Text chat has been added too and it’s as toxic as you’d imagine.
You'd think they would know better

Surprisingly I’ve found dbd to be pretty tame compared to other games. Picked up for honour again recently and the salt is 10x more than dbd’s
Why is it that every DBD players background is either Overwatch, For Honor or Dark Souls? Do we desire pain and suffering or what?
(also, i never received half of the messages I get on DBD on those games)

Yeah they were, but it's waaay too tone deaf for my liking ><
Like people need to be careful about using issues with serious historical and systemic contexts as allegories for comparatively minor issues such as internet toxicity because it detracts from the gravity of something as serious and deeply rooted in society as sexual assault
I agree that people need to be careful.
However, I still think it fits, even if the original comment was tone deaf. What if they hadn't of said this to me? What if these people had said it to someone who wasn't in a good place mentally? What if they pushed them over the edge?
Saying that it's the victim's fault for having harassment and abuse thrown at them is pretty awful.
-
You went to RPD because that map is easily the worst.

@lordfart said:

Hmm I'm not so sure this is anywhere near on the same level as sexual assault and it's kinda insulting to suggest that lol
i think they were more referring to the idea that by playing in a certain way you deserve abuse, but they probably could've worded it better.

This is horrible and I hope that these people will get banned for good. Those messages are clearly something more than just the usual flaming post match or the "lol noob baby killer using NoeD" and other funny things.
Some tolerance to "bad messages" is required to play PvP games as is a tolerance to taunting and "bad manner" as those are way to get your opponent to loose his nerves. But this is nothing like that especialy as it is post game where everybody should be a good sport and either write "gg wp" or just leave.
Thumbs up for your replies, you remain quit polite while telling them what they are.
Thank you, it's just starting to wear me down.

So what is your solution? Except calling people idiots for disagreeing with you?
Changing the whole world with magic?
I think it's the principle of it.
Nobody should be harassed over a game, much less in such a terrible way.
I guess I'm just in denial that the community has gone so far downhill since I started playing. I never used to get hatemail, maybe once in every 20 games. Infrequent, but still unpleasant.
Now, it's legitimately every other game and I guess I'm just hoping that it'll return to how it used to be. I suppose I need to stop that and take steps to protect myself, but it really scares me that these people are still out there likely doing this to other people too.
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
In a perfect world we wouldn’t have to deal with messages like that.
There are too many other interactions you are missing out on because you give energy to these people. I know sometimes it’s hard to just look the other way because you wanna get to the bottom of something or whatever the reason may be.
However, You have to stay focused on who YOU are and what kind of person you are. These people do not determine that, only you and your actions do.
Trust me I’ve had my fair share of encounters , some that were embarrassing and I can’t believe I let them get to me, and others where I just simply tried to be as rational as I could and even that didn’t help.
Nothing justifies their behavior, and to me many of these people are just looking for an audience. So anytime you engage just remind yourself you are giving them exactly what they want.
I know you’re on a different platform, from what I have gathered and it sucks that they do this when all you wanna do is enjoy the game, but my advice is to just ignore them to the best of your ability.
Yeah, I mean logically I know that.
But it's so frequent now. It's legitimately every other game and it really does start to weigh on you.
after a bit you do start thinking, "man maybe they have a point. Maybe I am just a ######### person."

Changing a single setting takes you like 10 seconds max. On ps at least.
Yeah, I've got to go into my settings, navigate the menu, type in my password (curse my 12 year old self for making a long password) and then change it.
-
@Shaped said:
Why not make messages friends only when playing dbd?
Unless you really like that ocassional gg I don't see the reason to keep it open.
I either bait people like that and make them banned (the one from your screenshot would be permabanned on psn if you reported her messages individually) or just straight disable messages altogether.
Don't torture yourself friendo.
The issue with that is that I don't play just DBD.
If I disable messages/voice for everyone except my friends, I can't chat in-game or with half the people I play with. It's a massive inconvenience but I might have to at this point.
I used to meet a lot of really great people on DBD and maybe I'm stuck in the past with that.

If you tunnel I have no sympathy for you.. simply put those types of strategies are considered underhanded and can cause frustration and bring us down. It can cause us to loose interest in the game and take away the little fun we have. What they are doing is basically what you did in the match. You put them in a bad place mentally so why should they not do the same to you. Honestly only killers who are not very good at the game do I see camping and tunneling. But if you are doing that then you deserve everything you dished out here. I rarely ever camp a survivor I main pig and if I see someone being really toxic to me I will camp them but not often. Also this seems like if they seen it. It might mentally mess with them. I find it irritating that you think others should look out for your mental state but you don't seem to care about others.
What if I told you I didn't tunnel, they just think I did?
They were just upset that they lost of Fractured Cowshed. One got grabbed out of a locker early and they never really recovered from that.

Already playing Piggy a lot since you reccommended it the first time. Love her but I wanted to try someone strong that I didn't before.
I played Spirit but was never big on her and now after the nerfs I don't think I will at all.
Can blight really be played decently on console tho? I know he is strong but I am not sure I can master him. Oni seems more simple but I am afraid I won't be able to turn like people on pc while using my power.
I can vouch for Oni.
Blight's swing flick is the same on PC and Console. The issue is when he bounces he can't flick as quickly as he can on PC.
-
Related, but if I own the ST characters why have the perks' names changed?
I thought if I owned the characters that nothing would change.

I dunno about 'everyone' I assume most don't care, and it's those people who will keep coming back to the game. You'd be surprised that there are plenty of people who will put down a game in protest. Getting Twitter involved is never good for PR.

As they even told, they have to give out keys for the license owner every time. And they have nothing to do what the owners do with them. There is no feature what do anything with NFTs...
They came out on Twitter and promoted/endorsed them.
They admit they were involved and partners with them in order to make it possible.

It is in the Twitter post what they say. What do you don't understand?
Because most people think that language was meant to lead us to believe that this was happening and they did not agree with it. They were being forced into it by the parent company or that the parent company was using BHVR's assets for a purpose they did not support.
However, as it turns out, most DEVS at the company didn't know about this. This was planned and hidden on purpose and the tweet was purposefully misleading people to try to save face.
Now, there isn't really any point. The game's over and it's pretty clear that nobody likes BHVR right now.

Would you agree that what they are saying here is that "We only make the Chapter and are required to share assets with the parent companies, what they do with our assets is not reflective on us as a company." Is that not what they are saying here?

Oof, DS2 is... An interesting one. It's definitely the black-sheep of the Soulsborne family, but I won't go too indepth about it because then I'd reveal my obsession.
I will give you a little help though, level up adaptability. It makes the game easier, as it literally controls the i-frames of your roll. Because they thought that was a good idea.
I'd also recommend playing Bloodborne if you ever get the chance, as it's genuinely such a fantastic ######### game.
Who was the mf in charge of making i-frames a stat.

Or maybe I'll really torture myself and start playing Overwatch or Paladins again.
I'm trying to get through DS2 atm, it doesn't even feel like the first game.
