Irrelevant. The question is "Is NOED unfair". In 25 games when the killer had NOED, only 10 provided more than 2k. Whether that is because it never got activated, or because it was cleansed post activation, or whether it stayed up the whole game. My point is the killers had this perk equipped and it didn't result in a ton of 3 or 4ks
That is not an unfair perk.
So, you think old Object of Obsession was a fair perk? Because we know the Kill Rates for people who used OoO were through the roof.
Likewise, Pig's Kill Rate is very high. Should we nerf Pig into the ground because she has a 60% Kill Rate?
No, of course not. Because there is nuance.
I do not believe you are intending to discuss this in good faith, mostly because of your "buff" idea. So I'm done speaking to someone who isn't going to take anything seriously.
Have a good one.

People are fixated on the aspect that easily translates into grievances. Extracting other data and actually using it is far more labor intensive in comparison. Swatting random people isn't a thing that happens in practice, as the ability to pick a random address isn't difficult. DDOS are way more prominent.
Multi million dollar companies screw up on a regular basis. Acting like it is some unlikely scenario is naive, as showcased by the issue here. Our IPs are up for grabs even though we have dedicated servers, already indicates that more information is accessible by others in the lobby than would be required. Assuming it is limited to a single parameter is unfounded and unrealistic as information is rarely that isolated.
Should one be really that concerned about being swatted, is a totally different question. Generally speaking no you don't in my view, but if you are considering that an actual threat... there are grounds for caution. If you are in the public eye should you be more vigilant most definitely.
From a IT security perspective this issue isn't a huge breach, but assuming that it is solely your IP is wishful thinking at best.
I don't think there has been probable cause to assume it is more than your IP.
Your IP is not a client-side thing, it is transmitted to BHVR's servers. There is no precedent over the hackers being able to do anything with that other than hit you off.

NOED has always only punished lazy survivors that only push gens. Survivors are somehow allergic to do bones. Even when the killer isn´t pressuring and has like 2 hooks by the time the gates are powered.
When they then get hit by NOED, it es entirely their own fault. You can´t tell me that survivors can´t take 14 seconds to cleanse a dull totem when they are not being chased. Small Game really helps with that. It has a totem counter and people should really consider changing their loadout, if they keep having problems with NOED.
I remember a particular match, when old Undying was still a thing, where i cleansed 5 hex totems alone. While my teammates took turn on the hook (they farmed each other). Then after the match, they complained how OP Undying Ruin is, when they didn´t even touch a gen.
In resumen: do bones and ask your teammates before the match, to also do them.
I do, in fact, bring Small Game. I get to count how most people don't do totems in Solo Q.
I'm currently gathering more data to back this up. I have played another 50-ish games and I'm aiming to get to 200.
If the Survivors are winning, sure, they should be doing totems. Zero reason not to. But if they aren't, if it's 6 hooks and 3 gens, they literally do not have time.
Why don't you want it changed into something more useful? Is it just because it would be a nerf to Killers?

Those 20 times it was always a threat. But when I play solo Q I always expect NOED. When I always expect it I'm never surprised when it does happen
Expecting it doesn't mean it's okay.
I expected to get hit by Old DS. It sure wasn't fair tho.

It is a bad time to get into DBD and somehow an even worse time to play Killer.

But your point was NOED is unfair. Unfortunately your stats don't support that. Sorry, I didn't mean to offend. Just that I don't consider myself a great survivor and even I don't suffer from NOED too much.
I think actually it shows it would benefit from a buff.
It is.
My stats do support that. Out of 24 games, how many times did we cleanse all 5 totems?

The main change to NOED I'd like to see to help solos is that if you cleansed 2+ totems your just immune to NOED's expose.
However the killer gets to see on the HUD which survivors are expose and which ones aren't.
It would encourage people to do bone as not doing bones is what makes you vulnerable to it while giving solos a way to get around NOED regardless of their teammates ignoring bones.
I think that'd only be masking the issue.
Most Solo Q games do not have time to do 5 totems. If there's one next to a gen? Sure, most people will knock it out, but almost nobody can afford to go running around the map looking for one. It's 70 seconds off of gens at base, not including travel distance or the Killer interrupting you.
I don't think NOED can be salvaged in it's current state. It's useless against SWF, but too good against Solo's. Nerf it? Way too weak against SWF. Buff it? Way too good against Solo Q.
I think it would be better to scrap it and give Killer's a new perk of equal power.

So only 10/25 games resulted in 3 or 4k. Seems fair. Once you get better that stat will probably drop even more. Definitely no issue with NOED. Probably confirms that it needs Buffing.
Oh, no. I'm ######### that's not up for debate.
Look at how many totems were cleansed on average, please. That was what the experiment was about.
I was curious to see how many totems usually got cleansed. MMR is so inconsistent I wouldn't rely on Kill Rates.

It means activated, my apologies.
There was one game where NOED activated, but it was cleansed immediately because someone was cleansing the Dull as it changed into a Hex.

I play in solo Q alot and you know how many times I had to worry about NoEd....out of 20 games only 6 of them resulted in NoEd activating. Do bones just leave enough for anyone who has a Boon. NoEd is a very fair Perk. Only reason anyone who be mad at it is because the 4 survivors didn't either A) Do Bones or B) Bless Totems and Do Bones. I mean come on its 4 on 1. Just bring a map or Small Game and your all set.
I will say what I said when I used to argue over why DS should be nerfed.
If a perk changes your style of play in order to directly counter it without any proof of said perk being in play, something is wrong. The real reason people don't want NOED to be changed is because it would be a nerf to Killers, which I agree, we shouldn't be doing right now.
How many times was NOED in the trial? How many times did it activate when it was present? How many times was it not present?

Yet is that the only aspect that is compromised in this secure breach? Once again not disputing that solely an IP cannot be used to achieve this.
Everyone is so convinced it is just the IP address? What is this assumption based on?
That was what I was implying. People have most likely fixated on the IP because DDoS and doxx'ing sound similar and they were used in the same tweet.
It would be very concerning if BHVR's security was breached in such a way that allowed hackers to access client-side information. I also find it very unlikely that BHVR screwed up that badly. It seems more likely that someone's lax internet safety caused it than a multi-million dollar corporation screwing up, but we don't know, so I won't point fingers.

So just to get this into perspective. Its a unbearable task for a solo survivor to cleanse 4/5 totems, but cleansing 5+ boons is totally fine for killers?
Please don´t pretend like the solo survivor HAS to do everything. Because there are 3 more, that can also do bones.
You've seen me around. I was one of the first people to say Boons were going to be an issue and I stand wholeheartedly by that. Boons are a huge issue.
That doesn't mean I don't recognize that NOED is also a very unhealthy perk. In my experience, in my games, all 5 totems are done extremely rarely. It almost never happens.
NOED should give you instant downs per remaining Dull Totem. Survivors didn't do any totems? 5 instant downs, they deserve it. They did 4? One instant down, you still get pressure or a Kill depending on who it is.
As of this moment, NOED is basically useless against SWF but extremely good against Solo's. Does that not seem to be an unhealthy design? Should we not want it changed into something more healthy and usable?
-
Oh, I do. And I actually took down some stats for around 24 games. Want to see?

I haven't said that swatting only on IP is a concern. Yet you are undermining the experience of someone else by attributing it to external factors, while this is unknown and you don't know it to not be correlated just in the same way I don't know if it is. Act as if you know exactly what is part of this security breach and have the insider information needed, but you don't.
I have not spread misinformation, you are blatantly assuming that there is minor risk. Just because you understand a single parameter as an IP isn't a huge risk, who states that this is the only aspect compromised.
You can act like a security expert all you want, but unless you know what information is included in the breach you cannot guarantee anyone's safety. Just because you don't have the information out there, you claim to care about a majority of people... guess what they do have information out there! I am fairly safe as well, but that doesn't mean that I can claim everyone else is as well.
I've done my own external research, there is no way to get an address from an IP.
-
@Tsulan said:
How about we talk about a NOED buff instead?
Doesn´t sound fair, that survivors can eliminate the perk before it even spawns. More so with Boons that override the NOED mechanic.
You can't honestly tell me that NOED is fair for Solo's

Yes. The ISP knows which IP is assigned to which specific device and where that device is located, nobody other than your ISP can see this information though.
I see.
So the only way to get an address from an IP is to find a security flaw within the ISP. Which is...unlikely.

An IP address does not and can not give your address. Your IP is not linked to your physical location in any way.
Does the ISP not know where the IP comes from?

I do know what I'm talking about. I haven't made a single assumption in my posts. For the majority of people, resetting your router is enough.
I don't think this is really the place to go into more technical detail regarding IP addresses, how ISP's worldwide function and whether or not IP addresses are reassigned as most of this would be lost on the average user, hence "resetting your router and being assigned a new IP should be enough." Note: I did mention being assigned a new IP, which nullifies your "dynamic IP's can be reassigned" statement. I didn't touch on static IP addresses either which wouldn't change by resetting your router, since most people don't have a static IP. The point was not to give people a full educational breakdown of how ISP's and IP addresses operate. Again, this isn't the place for that.
IP addresses aren't private, they're public, they're supposed to be public, so saying that they're ever "leaked" is a bit silly - unless you're referring to a leak while using a VPN.
You cannot "swat" a person using their IP address, that is not possible. So no, games have not been creating the possibility to "swat" people by leaking your IP address for decades. People do this themselves with careless social media posts, as is the case with "Elix", who was "swatted" recently while streaming DBD - incidentally, "Elix" is the only person on this planet who plays DBD and has been verified to have been "swatted".
Instead of ignorantly telling me what I do or do not know, why don't you tell me why you think I'm wrong?
How do you know so much about this?
Additionally, I know it's a lot to ask, but do you think you could go into a full educational breakdown of this subject? I'm always trying to learn and other than information I've gleaned from those responsible for DDoS attacks, I know precious little on the subject.
Knowledge on this topic may make it easier to both defend myself and to help others whilst also furthering my own knowledge base. So, in short, I'd be interested.

Worked with is not the same as being forced to do something because it's stipulated in a contract. I'm not disputing that BHVR and Boss Protocol have worked together, that's public knowledge - they had to have worked together for BHVR to give them content. Boss Protocol do not own the rights to Hellraiser though, so how could they possibly have any say in the license contract between BHVR and Park Avenue in order to force BHVR to give them content to create NFT's?
None of this explains exactly what people are unhappy with or why they're unhappy with BHVR specifically in any case. Why aren't people angry at those creating the NFT's, if the NFT's themselves are the issue solely from an environmental standpoint? Why is all the hate aimed solely towards BHVR?
Because BHVR had a choice. I think most of us know that NFT's are incredibly dumb and very wasteful. Cryptocurrency is mostly used for nefarious purchases, like you mentioned, but we know those people are bad.
We thought BHVR was better and people are let down

Your ISP really should be doing a better job of mitigating DDoS attacks, particularly if it's happening that often. That sounds awful for you to be honest. You probably would benefit from using a reputable VPN in that case, though generally, resetting your router and being assigned a new IP should be enough.
Whoever is targeting you must be very dedicated, that's quite sad really.
It's multiple groups. DBD brings out the worst in people, I think.
I heard through the internet grapevine (so who knows how reliable it is) that one of the groups who were messing with me tried to hit someone off of a network but they were on a military base. So, understandably, they are in hot water.

They have to be public. If your IP address wasn't visible you wouldn't be able to use the internet. You wouldn't hide your address from the mail man and still expect to receive mail.
Once a week is extremely excessive - really, really excessive. Popular streamers aren't DDoS'd that often so I'd be more curious about your connection. Infact, I don't think I've ever heard of anyone being DDoS'd that much so regularly.
Well, I only usually against the same 3 or 4 teams. After I play those teams, I get a bunch of random players. In total, per week, I see maybe 90 different players only because of MMR being wack. They recognize me and decide that I don't get to play. It's fun, they also send me messages but I turned those off since they usually just had some variation of "#########" in them.

Your IP address is always puiblic, it's supposed to be public and it's trivially easy to get someone's IP address. It's useless, but easy. IP addresses are not supposed to be private information.
People using any and every dodgy VPN they find and trusting them, despite many collecting and selling your activity to the highest bidder, is a bigger issue than a random stranger having your IP address. Some of the VPN's I've seen recommended since this whole DDoS wave started do just that. I'd rather a script kiddie trying to DDoS me have my IP address then a dodgy VPN company have access to all of my internet traffic.
Phishing is a different story altogether and can largely be avoided if people pay more attention to the address bar / links they're clicking.
I don't think IP's should be public until there are better protections against DDoS attacks.
I usually get hit offline at least once a week.

Huh.
I almost always have easier matches on DDS. It's not a big deal for me to break the two 'key' walls (the one in the bedroom especially) in passing and as long as I'm willing to give up two specific gens, I can usually win a war of attrition even in hard games by forcing a very easy 3-gen.
That said, I'm probably playing at a somewhat lower MMR than you are. It could well be that better survivors handle this map differently.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2650200#Comment_2650200
Lery's is RNG central.
Some games I completely flatten them. Some games I get three strong vaults into that bloody office area and every survivor will run directly there, and I'll get 4-outed.
It's also a misery to play on ranged killers.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2650051#Comment_2650051
I find RPD to be a nightmare on either side. I've died on hook because people weren't sure how to reach me. I've also had an office spawn as a 'House of Pain' with an absolutely unstoppable loop.
Midwich I love. Visually, it's brilliant. I've never had issues playing killer on it either. The gates are absurdly easy to defend.
I have no idea what your MMR is, so I'm uncomfortable making that assumption.
Lery's sucks on Console too. The FPS is garbo.
Oh, yeah, if you find the RPD part of the stream we both agree that RPD is a miserable mistake of a map. It sucks for everyone but Survivors either have one side with meh pallets but an infinite or multiple god pallets but meh vaults.
Midwich, Dead Dawg and Haddonfield were our maps of contention. @Shdw_Void wanted Dead Dawg in slightly Slightly Killer-sided or Neutral, I wanted it in Slightly Survivor-sided. He gave me that one. I wanted Midwich in Neutral, he wanted it in Slightly Survivor-sided, so I gave him that one.
I think Cowshed is worse than Haddonfield, he wasn't so sure.

I've actually moved away from regression perks almost completely. I find that they can help me turn a strong game into a winning game, but often they fail to help me turn a bad game around. Ruin gets found immediately, Pop takes a while to use. The only one I still use a fair bit is Surge.
I have a lot more luck with info and pressure heavy builds. Nothing slows down a game like 2 people on hook and me chasing a third.
That said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2650553#Comment_2650553
I'd say more 'typical'. It's the old as dirt 'Anonymity + Audience = Massive Jerk' formula.
I'm pretty much the nicest killer you are likely to come up against unless I'm doing an Adept or something, and I still get BMed a hell of a lot.
To add on to your point, I'm pretty much the meanest Killer you could play against.
When I stopped playing in a "nice" way, I did not notice any uptick in the amount of hate mail or in-game toxicity I received. This leads me to believe it is not about how you play, it's about a feeling of power.
It's begun to get to the point where people I've killed when I play Killer recognize my name and throw the game when we play together as Survivor, or if they happen to be playing Killer, specifically target me multiple games in a row. Like this guy, who was playing Iron Grasp, Agitation, Mad Grit and NOED Bubba and just put me in basement and smacked me on hook until I died. 3 games in a row.
If you make people feel powerless (by winning), they are either going to be super toxic or try to find a way to get retribution.

Is it possible to use VPN on a console?
I think you'd have to set it up on your router.
Even still, it probably wouldn't help on Console. There are sites that log and publicly show your IP so that others can boot you offline. I imagine they'll probably notice something is up if the IP associated with your account moves.
But maybe not, might be worth a shot.

Léry's is very unpredictable and it is easy to approach a Survivor from pretty much any direction you desire. Gens can also be a bit though to find.
Not to mention that it was Old Freddy's best map, so this has an effect on my opinion :)
It still has two guaranteed god pallets, plus the window's are very easy to chain together.

Well, tier thing depends a lot on which killer you play/verse, killer perks (especially Hex) and RNG so it's complicated but my opinion is:
I think all Autohaven maps are near Neutral ~ Slightly Killer Sided. I don't think Gas Heaven is Very Survivor Sided frankly.
One of Badham Preschool (I don't remember number correctly), the one Main building and Killer shack are very far away from each other (that you have to pass long middle road to go one another) is slightly weaker than other 4 Preschools in my opinion.
Torment Creek is definitely the weakest of all Coldwind maps, I do agree it's close to Neutral ~ Slightly Killer Sided. Sometimes there's nothing at the edge of Main Building except large straws.
I hesitate whether Grim Pantry is Slightly Survivor Sided or not. I get why you put there and not on Survivor Sided, as all generators except Main Building one can be very close to pressure. 2 gens near shack and usually 2 gens near the thing (the structure which is also on Pale Rose). Main Building is really strong but it is definitely not a choice to go because other gens are much easier to protect. Middle area gets really weak once pallets are gone and sometimes survivors can't loop through the cabin if the gen inside there doesn't get repaired. I think it's either Neutral or Slightly Killer Sided in my opinion.
The others I'd like to mention are Sanctum of Wrath, Dead Dawg Saloon, Midwich Elementary School and Racoon Police Department.
Sometimes Killer Shack in Sanctum and jungle gym combination can be dirty but I think it's Neutral. As main building is weak and most survivors don't know how to loop there and just run away from it.
DDS, I know many killers have to break some breakable walls but the map is significantly small and it is easy to guess where survivors spawned. Either Slightly or Killer Sided.
Midwich is Killer Sided in my opinion. Ruin can last longer than expect. No RNG on windows and pallets, however generators aren't, which takes some time for survivors to find generators. Survivors can straight hold W but I've seen many survivors who damage their teammates by going to where their teammates are.
Lastly, RPD is Neutral. I know there are some busted loops and god pallets but once pallets are broken wherever you go, chases end very easily. And complex map design often causes free 2nd hook stage and get rid of one person easily. It can be Slightly Survivor Sided too. Honestly depends on Survivors' knowledge.
We actually went through all the Autohaven maps, so you can totally watch and see our thought processes, they are near the beginning.
Yes, we ranked Badham IV as the weakest of the Badham's.
Grim Pantry still has a very strong main building, plus Shack and a decently strong side building.
We had Sanctum of Wrath closer to Neutral because both sides have benefits. It's like a fatter version of Aazarov's without a chokepoint in the middle. It's fairly wide and somewhat difficult to 3-gen on.
Dead Dawg's main building is actually insane. The front street-side of the map is also super good and there are 3 walls you MUST break.
Midwich is miserable for everyone, but it favors Survivors because it accentuates the problem with the strength of holding W. The pallets are okay, but you can see the Killer from a mile away and you can get around 35-45 seconds just by running away.
RPD has the issues of every indoor map but also the issues of Mother's Dwelling. It's huge, the gens are indefensible and you either have to deal with a god loop or with multiple god pallets depending on the side you pick to defend.

I’m so glad someone agrees with me that Dead Dawg isn’t killer sided. All the breakable walls and safe structure in that big line of buildings makes it hard for killers to catch good survivors. Not sure how Otz thought this map was the most killer sided.
He likely weighs the desolate back portion of the map behind the Gallows very heavily. It isn't difficult to hold a 3-gen back there and the map isn't huge.
That's about all I see.

Interesting.
Otz did a pretty in-depth video on this too.
Haddonfield and Badham need a serious rework.
Out of interest - wouldn't you consider DDS to be killer sided? I know that it's one of my 'easy' maps on most killers.
I would not. It is at the very bottom of Slightly Survivor-sided, nearly Neutral.
The main building and Shack are extremely strong when the walls are up, and breaking the walls costs you precious time that you may not have. Even without the walls, the entire front portion of the map is pretty good for Survivor. The thing that keeps it even is the ability to hold a 3-gen sort of behind the Gallows. It's desolate back there and that's what keeps it almost neutral for us.

First of all, let me tell you that it warms my heart to see the pre-rework icons that you used, but it disheartens me to see that Léry's (my favorite map) is the only one that has a reworked icon :(
Second, here is mine:

It is pretty similar to yours, but there are one or two differences that I think it is worth looking at.
I know I am missing a few maps, but they are irrelevant since their ranking on my list would be the same as their ranking on yours. Also, this was done thinking about their reworked versions (which wasn't pleasant at all), so take that into account too.
I think I can see the justification for all of these but could you explain Lery's?

I'm honestly curious how you could tell the difference between the badhams. What makes the layout of 2 and 5 stronger than the others?
Also, I'd put coal tower to killer sided, and suffocation pit and midwhich to neutral
The different Badham's have different layouts. We went over them during the end part of the stream at around the 3 hour and 10 minute mark, iirc.
I argued for Midwich to be neutral, but there are more advantages for Survivor than Killer. The biggest thing Killer has on that map is its size. It's small, but the corridors let Survivors hold W very well and accentuate an already bad problem.
Suffocation Pit is another odd one. The main building really isn't strong anymore and there's maybe one good pallet on each side of the map. The middle is where most everything is at. It suffers from Aazarov's Syndrome, where it's incredibly easy to 3-gen as Killer and very hard to not 3 gen as Survivor. The reason it's not straight-up Killer-sided is because of the middle area being strong, but we didn't feel it was strong enough to outweigh the Killer advantages of basically only needing to play half the map.

Nice try, but I'm still bringing Monstrous Shrine.

My experience with RPD was, that neither the killer nor the survivors know where the damn stairs to the second level are xd
Playing a Pig / Wraith with aura reading makes this map pretty auto-win for them.
Yeah, but we just had to rate it generally. Couldn't say, "Well, Wraith with aura-reading is really good on RPD."
It's a miserable mistake of a map, but it's objectively good for one side.

There is a point that the name of the map is easier to discern than tiny thumbnails.

Me trying to actually see what maps these are from the tiny pics.
I added a typed description. It seems fine on my end, but I have been trying to make it larger, no luck.
