  • Bullying low rank Killers is the main source of entertainment and therefore money for many Fog Whisperers or streamers in general.

It's their audience that causes the problem. Streamers bully new players and the people laugh about it instead of pointing out how wrong it is. It's classic human mentality, absolutely pathetic.

This is not limited to hag & flashlights bullying, I'm talking in general.

  • Hag

    Hag

    Hag

    Legion

    Freddy

  • The non-existent DS nerf (to date)

    Wraith "buff"

    Huntress hitbox

    Freddy rework

  • Still looks like a rather normal trend but yes, there are quite a few things that need a fix and I guess more people will quit dbd if they don't take care of those soon, regardless of DLCs or free weekends.

Broken matchmaking, poorly designed Killers, the upcoming ranking system adjustments and the SWF imbalances, just to name a few.

  • @Kagrenac

I guess you're right, I'm an incredibly bad Killer and I try to hide that fact from myself by calling out the imbalances that voice communication provides.

Still: What you said could word by word be said about SWFs with voice communication. There is no counter to voice communication. It's possible to win but is it worth the effort?

Voice communication is not even part of the game but I think Ebony Moris are a way to even out the imbalances voice communication comes with. That's my statement. Keys are irrelevant, I never mentioned them. Random Ebony Moris to stomp noobs are irrelevant, I never mentioned that either.

All I said was that Ebony Moris are sometimes required to even out lobbies that would otherwise be unbalanced. And I stick with that. I played enough 4x SWFs with experienced teammates to realize that even an Ebony Mori won't stop us from 3-4x escaping.

"There are lobbies where Killers require Ebony Moris to even out the imbalances that are provided by voice communication."

You don't need an Ebony Mori to win a difficult match. Assuming you play Billy (based on your profile pic), he's pretty strong and should get a 2k (benchmark). You don't need a 3k or a 4k to win since the general aim is a 2k.

I never said you need an Ebony Mori to win a difficult match. I said an Ebony Mori is sometimes required to even out possible imbalanced provided by voice communication. You even copied what I typed but still managed to miss the point ^^

What's considered win or loss is solely based on an individuals opinion. The result isn't even relevant here, the important part is that an even playground is provided and nothing else. It's not like you can't win against an Ebony Mori and it's also not like you can't win against a 4x SWF. That's not the point.

  • I stopped participating in the PTBs.

I don't want to spoil the fun with an unbalanced or bugged environment, I'd rather wait it out and hope that they fix / balance it so I can enjoy the content when it's officially released.

The point of a PTB is to have players testing the planned content so they can adjust and fix broken stuff before going live.

But why tho? Isn't it better to sacrifice a little bit on both sides for better health and balance of DbD?

There are lobbies where Killers require Ebony Moris to even out the imbalances that are provided by voice communication.

Ebony Moris are also quite rare and expensive so they're not as much of a problem as items that you can casually find during normal gameplay for free.

EBONY mori only, green and yellow are fine (yellow to weak needs a rework imo)

    Still no :)

  • Do you seriously want to remove moris? The only thing that allows us to slaughter Survivors? You gotta be kidding.

  • It definitly happens on both sides. This was a 2x SWF: Bosh (R17) and I (R16) when Bosh freshly started playing DbD. The others were random people.

  • I had a good discussion with one of those DS god loopers recently. He looped me for quite a while, more than enough for the others to finish at least 3 gens.

I facecamped him. He understood it. We both moved on.

Why would I want to allow him to give me the same time-consuming and annoying chase again? That makes no sense. If someone is good at looping, you DON'T want to let them loop again.

Protip on that matter: It's sometimes smart to keep the first chase shorter than possible simply to not give the Killer a reason to camp or tunnel you.

That would be the key to causing chaos and comedy.

I miss skillshots in DbD, flashlight is pretty much the only things there is for Survivors. Pebble ftw

  • As a Billy main, I feel offended by the content of this thread.

  • @BoxingRouge said:

I mean notice how meta it would be with sloppy butcher and it would take survivors basically a whole minute to self care once, it’s would’ve been unbalanced and broken if that went live.

You have to look at it from the Killers perspective aswell. How long does it take to injure all 4 Survivors? Certainly more than 1 minute on average.

Then you have to consider: 4 hits to have every Survivor injured. How good is that compared to 4 hits on the same Survivor? I can kill a Survivor with 4 hits if I tunnel them. The result is a 3v1 and I don't even need a perk for that result.

Killers need rewards for switching targets, otherwise there is absolutely no point in doing so. Nerfing the only perk that does that is absolute nonsense.

  • Only a 4k is a flawless victory. Pips or bloodpoints are not relevant when it comes to win/loss.

  • Well it's one perk vs another... Kinda the point of Enduring to counter DS.

If you think too many Killers counter DS by running Enduring, maybe it's better to replace DS with a more useful perk?

@Kagrenac Do you really consider running Enduring to counter DS as "toxic"?

  • I like to outplay the opposite side, doesn't matter if I play Survivor or Killer.

  • I'd support that aswell, but also in the endgame lobby. Direct link to steam profiles are stupid.

  • The DbD Developers are people of great power and great mystery. Their power is exceeded only by its mystery, and strangely, their mystery is exceeded only by their power.

Honestly their trains of thoughts make absolutely no sense most of the time. It would be interesting to see what's going on in their heads...

  • Imagine having an asymmetrical game with 4 Survivors and 1 Killer and the Survivors complain that they're a minority in this community.

    #DbDsurvivorlogic

How about you start a movement and try to convince all the reddit circle jerkers to group up and invade this forum? xD

The reason why reddit is "survivor territory" is because 99% of the content there is bullshit and memes, nothing related to development or balance while in these forums the main focus is about improving and balancing the game, discussing issues.

Something Survivors struggle to do, so it seems.

  • @Eveline said:

Why announce a buff to a weak perk then nerf it? Can someone explain this? I don't see any common sense in it. Is this a joke?

    Dev 1: Let's buff Thanatophobia!

    Dev 2: Let's nerf Thanatophobia!

Mathieu: Sound awesome! First we buff it, then we revert it and nerf it! Everyone is happy! GENIUS!

  • Good Bilbos don't need to rebind steering.

  • Just report them, no room for angry salty kiddos.

  • John Murphy is the only real survivor xD

  • I got all the achievements done.

I remember "Taking One For The Team" to be one of the most annoying ones on top of "Evil Incarnate" and of course the new "Deranged Pursuit".

I always thought "Where did they go?" was going to be the hardest one for me to get as I usually play alone but I got lucky and found some nice people to play with.

    See here's that hypocrisy again.

Survivors are expected to play perfectly, but as doon as a killer comes across a team of exceptionally skilled survivors they're just going to beg for more buffs to overcome them.

Its like with all these responces at no point does the skill of the killer come into play. It's either survivors suck and need to get good and when they do get good killers complain that the game is too hard.

Some people need to reflect on their own ability.

I was expecting a response like. I suppose you didn't even take the time to read through the whole comment before you started to type that, correct?

The good thing is that I won't be wasting time looking for a meaningful conversation with you ever again, as that seems to be a mission impossible.

  • Just imagine for a moment what would happen if the Survivors in the highest rank possible were actually good. Crazy!

If you lack the fantasy, let me tell you what would happen: People would realize how incredibly broken the balance in this game is. They would realize that the "crutch" perks of Killers all rely on the incompetence of Survivors and that those perks are effectively useless in high rank, against skilled Survivors.

Ruin, BBQ & Chili, Spirit Fury & Enduring, NOED to name a few.

That's reality. Most Killer perks rely on the incompetence of Survivors, they don't reward Killers for good plays but instead punish Survivors for bad plays. As a result, they allow Killers to snowball quickly against potatoes but make next to no difference against Survivors that make no mistakes.

Now the Survivor perks are designed completly differently, they mostly allow Survivors to make up for mistakes and avoid punishment: DS, DH, SC, Deliverance, Unbreakable, ...

This leads to a massive balance issue in high rank: Killer perks become less and less effective the better your opponents are. They make no mistakes, therefore won't give you advantages. Survivor perks, however, become more and more powerful the better the Survivors are because they can nullify most if not all of of their mistakes with help of those perks.

It's really simple. Give bad Survivors 4 perks that allow them to nullify a mistake. If they make 20 mistakes, they'll only be able to nullify 20% of their mistake. Those perks won't really do a big difference for bad survivors.

Give good Survivors 4 perks that allow them to nullify a mistake. If they make only 4 mistakes because they're good, they'll be able to nullify all of those mistakes. Those perks will make a huge difference, allowing them to get away with no punishment at all.

Every good Dead By Daylight player will realize that at one point. It's the main reason why:

low skill Killers >> low skill Survivors

    but

high skill Survivors >> high skill Killers

...and it's the reason why low skill Survivors think that Killers are OP while high skill Survivors recognize that they're way stronger than they should be.

  • It's very ironic that you talk about boosted Killer mains and at the same time complain about a Killer perk that only affects bad and unskilled Survivors.

Every Survivor that is affected by Ruin in Rank 1 is effectively, as a matter of fact, a boosted Survivor. You're playing in the highest rank possible but you lack the skill to handle even the most basic thing in this whole game: You're unable to hit great skill checks.

Hex: Ruin is a perk that punishes bad Survivors and no one else.

I gotta' say, the way that gif loops perfectly is very satisfying.

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲ ▼

Or maybe he's still just missing swings to this day.

Thank you, I think I cried a little when I realized I could create an almost perfect loop.

The exhaustion timer gives it away though :(

  • @artist

There is absolutely no point in bringing ruin if you face a group of skilled survivors, that's why good Killers will consider other perks instead.

    Now here's the thing though:

    • You don't know the skill level of the survivors
    • You don't know the spawn place of Ruin

Those are two big risks you have to take when you bring Ruin. You hope for a good spawn and you hope for incompetent Survivors.

Normally and logically, I would say that the chances of getting incompetent players in high rank is rather small but in a game like DbD where even unskilled players can easily reach Rank 1, that appears to be different.

Ruin is technically a noobstomper perk, skilled Survivors will just ignore it but because there are so many unskilled players in Dead By Daylight, it's actually still pretty good even in high rank.

The effectiveness of Ruin is solely based on the incompetence of Survivors and/or the spawn location, nothing else matters.

And the fact that you think Ruin makes games almost unwinnable just proves my point. It's almost unwinnable for people that suck, but it's effectively no difference for players with skill.

  • @artist said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/359640#Comment_359640

my point was not everyone is a decent or a good enough player to consistently hit great skillchecks, u shouldn't be surprised by that

I'm not surprised at all by that but you realize what this means, right?

If the lack of skill causes a problem for people to win, it means they can solve the issue by simply getting good at the game.

Who would've thought that you will have trouble winning if you suck at the game? Crazy!

  • @artist

How the hell is that of any relevance now?

You don't need a SWF to hit great skill checks, you realize that? 4 solos have the exact same potential to hit the great skill checks as a 4x squad.

  • @artist

What do you mean, no one hits every great skill check? Even a decent Survivor will hit half of them, a good one will hit 80-90% so the effect of Ruin results in maybe 10-15 seconds per gen.

If that's enough to make the match unwinnable, you have bigger problems :)

  • @artist said:

ruin billy defenitely a pretty big annoyance. if you're solos it just might be unwinnable if the billy is a decent player

It's unwinnable because of Ruin? A perk that only affects bad Survivors and can totally be nullified with skill?

That's pretty funny but also very sad...

  • They just wanna make sure you don't have to die alone... Appreciate it.

  • Step 1: Learn to hit great skill checks

Step 2: Hit great skill checks

If a wild Hillbilly appears in process, proceed to loop him but make sure to drop the pallets without actually stunning the Hillbilly!

Step 3: Wait at the open exit gate to teambag him.

    Step 4: Leave

    What does rank mean?

What do you get for ranking up?

    Is there a prestige outfit for hitting ranks 15, 10, 5, 1?

Is there a series of perks only available to ranks 1-5, 6-10, 11-15?

Is there a bp increase by rank bracket?

Perhaps a iridescent shard bonus for high rank matches?

Wait, I know! Is there a blood web discount based on bracket?!

    No.

Rank has zero meaning other than an ego stroke. Let me explain one of the primary reasons people don't rank. Red rank players take themselves way too seriously and tend to be twice as toxic as all other rank brackets. Been there, done that, did not get anything for it other than lots of toxicity. In other ranks, I can have fun matches. I can let survivors run out the door, or I can make sure the killer gets me before I escape by "accidently" forgetting a pallet was used and loop in the wrong area. Why would I do that? Because the killer is obviously new, but played a great match.

See, some of us don't care about escaping or 4k's. Some of us just want to have fun and have a few laughs after the match. The higher you go up the ranks, the lower your chances of that. You think Rank 1 survivors are going to play "get the totem" with Pig/Hag? (A little game I've created in the game. It has been a blast and most survivors have participated. Lots of laughs.) No, red ranks are not going to give a flying crap about it. They want to pwn the killer, or the killer wants to pwn the survivors. It is an ego stroke, nothing more.

So, I don't sweat depips. I do dislike those who do it just to bully lower level players. That is pointless. Is their life so pathetic that they have to bully in a game? /shrug

Why does rank need a reward to be worth accomplishing? Rank is for competitive players.

Do you get anything special when you hit Global Elite in CSGO?

Do you get anything special when you reach Divine in Dota 2?

Do you get anything special when you reach Grand Champ in Rocket League?

Do you get anything special for placing #1 in PUBG?

Rank is a always nothing but a personal goal you want to achieve. That's why they should finally implement two game modes, casual and competitive. I'm a very competitive player by nature and I would really appreciate if my opponent and my teammates have a similar mindset. Nothing is more frustrating than to really try hard to win or turn a game and then you realize the rest of your teammates are throwing the game even more to make it next to impossible to win, because they just "want to have some fun" in Rank 1.

  • @Wolf74

Lmao that E. Honda "1000 slaps" reference is perfect. I absolutely suck at fighting games but this attack always allowed me to win against my friends but they sure as hell wanted to beat the hell outta me IRL after a few matches.

Had a similar one, wait till he catches me xD

  • Apparently for most people here this is totally normal behaviour in a video game.

It's not acceptable and it's not tolerated, report them ingame and it will send the chat log to the devs.

Let us see how the new ranking system works out before calling it a failure. I am sure they have something in mind and have put thought into the consequences.

All I can say is do your best and try to not take the game too seriously. Earning BP should be the first priority. Winning games consistently will happen eventually if you stick to it.

Earning bloodpoints should be the first priority? What? You must be a new dead by daylight player.

That's how I feel when playing survivor.

I want to do the gens and get out. I'll do any totems I see for NOED, and I'll unhook a survivor near me and heal anyone I see. However I'm not going to go dancing in front of the killer to purposefully get chased, nor am I going to take empathy and follow an injured survivor around so I can be the first in line for the unhook.

Seems I'm not going to be allowed in red ranks playing that way.

    Pretty much, ye.

The Emblem System was never a representation of skill, it requires inefficient and illogical playstyles to fill all the emblems. It's flawed in so many ways but even almost one year later they never bothered fixing it, in fact they made it even worse now.

  • People can be as toxic as they wish, there won't be consequences as long as they do it via steam and not ingame. That's why they leave comments on your profile, screenshots, artworks or even your friends profiles. They won't get punished if they insult you that way.

It's ridiculous but what's even worse is that people actually look at it as a completly normal thing and you as the victim have to adapt and learn to deal with such a level of toxicity. This is what our community has become to already. If you get deathwishes, it's normal and should be expected, people gonna tell you to "not be a pussy and learn to deal with it".

And that's why this community is the most toxic one I've ever seen.

1 … 6 7 8 9 10 … 21
