Yes, yes, very typical, thanks for your valuable input.
That made you speechless, eh?
Living on the edge here, but you're welcome π
-
That's typical for BHVR.
They put priority on irrelevant stuff no one cares about while ignoring the truly important things π
-
Wow @Shad03 I'm seriously jealous now. Looks like you're the reason why Survivors DC and suicide every match.
I hope one day I can make such an impact aswell, impressive! Can you teach me?
-
I couldn't care less about Ash, I'm just waiting for the MoM shitstorm.
-
The source of a feedback is just as important as the content of it. The forum is full of biased players that never bothered to try the other side, how credible is their feedback? It's worth nothing to me.
I think most of us know how you deal with feedback, that process is not unknown. What matters to most of us is: WHY?
- Why does rank reset exist?
- Why is there no ranked / casual mode?
- Why did you implement Legion?
- Why is Freddy still not reworked?
- Why did you change the Emblem System in such a horrible way?
- Why did you change the matchmaking in such a horrible way?
- Why is SWF still not balanced?
- Why is Nurse (or her add-ons) still not balanced?
- Why are double pallets reintroduced?
... countless questions that lead to discussions on a daily base, simply because we don't know the answer.
If you could give some logical explanations for your decisions, maybe it would help us understand why things are the way they are. Maybe we could convince you that there are better solutions possible? Or maybe you can convince us that you did the right thing, even though it looks like a big mistake?
Also, how do you playtest stuff? Does it happen within your studio or do you let a team of experienced Killers & Survivors playtest and see how they perform?
-
Really sad to see that you had to make this a "Killer main" issue, completly ruining your whole statement.
You're part of the problem with that mindset, I hope you realize that?
-
@NathanExplosion I had to bump it... It's been gone for way too long!

I would actually be supportive of blocking survivors you don't want to play with when playing as a survivor because then you're not technically cherry picking games if you know that person sandbags or just isn't productive the whole match , I'm just sick of feeling like I have to play swf to have a team with a brain stem
Completly agree. It's the incompetence of dead by daylight players in general.
I also noticed that many players ONLY play Dead By Daylight, they're not the typical gamer species. Tthey're casuals that happened to come across Dead By Daylight. The "just for fun" type of gamers that don't realize fun is subjective and their "fun" playstyle might lead to unfun matches for everyone else.
That's why I would love to see casual and ranking matchmaking, we need it.

she litterally bodyblocked me ON HER FIRST HOOK while 5 gen is still up
What have you done to her lol...
As others have said, it's not bannable but it's certainly very frustrating to deal with as Survivor :P
-
So, what would you say if everyone played like you do? Easy win, right? Even as solos! You're a good solo survivor so you kinda prove that solos can be just as good as SWFs.
I look at SWFs / voice communication like a training wheel, like playing a game with "Hints" activated. Players don't really choose to get this advantage, in the end all they wanna do is "play with friends while talking to them" but the reality is that they naturally use their voice communication to get advantages ingame to keep everyone updated ect.
Maybe it happens unconciously but this regularity leads to them missing out of important stuff. They're so used to be told what's going on, they stop paying attention. I see players gen tapping through a gen even though a hex totem just got blown up. I see people hesitating to unhook even though someone else just got injured miles away. I see players walking into trapper traps next to a hook because they still didn't realize "It's the trapper!".
It's all stuff like that that SWF players lack when playing Solo and it makes it look like solos are the problem but I'm sure most of those "unskilled solos" are actually SWF players forced to play solo because their friends are offline.
But you're right, it's just speculations. We don't know for sure, fact is both solos and SWFs play absolutely horrible sometimes. I think if a blocking feature would exist, I'd block more Survivors when playing Survivor myself than as Killer because of what you described.
-
It's important to understand the difference between potatoes and skilled solos. I bet my left ball that the Survivors you're talking about are either usually playing in a SWF or they already accepted that you're going to lose because no one else bothered doing gens, totems or anything productive at all.
What you described is something I do when I repaired the only 2 gens myself, did a few totems, unhooks ect. while the others did effectively nothing. I'll let everyone die on the hook because they don't deserve to get a chance for hatch. They did nothing, so they die to ensure my well-deserved escape.
Another indicator for this phenomenon is this forum.
"Gens are boring!" so they refuse to repair gens, that's the work for "bad players" (and then they go down 10 seconds later).
Yes, repairing gen is boring but it's the main objective. There are 5 gens and 4 survivors, all you have to do is repair 1.25 gens and that's it. A match lasts around 7-10 minutes, 1.25 gens takes less than 2 minutes so there's still plenty of time to do other, more interesting stuff.
-
Would you otherwise have escaped? If yes, then the Killer did the right thing :P
-
I don't really understand, you're implying that solo players are generally less skilled than SWF players? That's possible, but certainly not the norm. I'd say it's the other way around, SWF players often mess around and play absolutely horrible and the solo players suffer for it.
The solo vs SWF debatte is not really about skill. A team of skilled solos can be much better than a SWF but... and here comes the big BUT:
SWF / Voice communication allows bad players to perform better in a SWF, which gives them the illusion that they're actually good / skilled players. When their friends are offline, they're forced to play solo and naturally they perform a lot worse than they're used to, because there's no one to carry them. There are a bunch of randoms in the team that simply don't care about the others. Everyone is on their own, which seems to cause problems for SWF players. They NEED other players to help them.
It's a problem. It's often not the solos that are bad, it's the SWF players that casually play solo. SWF creates bad solo players.
I'm a solo player and I can clearly tell when I play with "SWFs" or other solo players. Solos can read the match a lot better than "SWFs" that are used to be told everything via discord. They're the ones crouching in a corner because they didn't notice that poor Jake just got injured, which should be the ultimate and idiot-proof indicator that the Killer is busy but they won't realize that, because no one told them that Jake is in a chase.
-
I quickly want to point out, from one billy main to another, that this "big chainsaw hitbox" actually hurts skilled Billy players because you're not able to flick around objectives that close anymore without bumping into them.
-
Are you seriously trying to turn this into a "Who DCs more" debatte?
...you're going to lose it.
-
Survivors use MLGA for that. You can use Steams block function but it's rather tedious to check all profiles manually.

Man, they sure programmed the bots in DbD to know a lot of insults π³
Yea they really nailed it on that part but have you ever tried to lead a conversation with them? You'll quickly realize that they missed out on that part, it makes no sense what they answer... π
-
Killer is tough, even after 1000 hours of Killer alone I still find myself in the situation you described.
Most important part is to realize that the result of the match is not a representation of your skill but the Survivors. If you face skilled players, your chances of getting a good match result are very small. If you accept that, you can go through such hopeless matches a lot more relaxed because you realized there is not much you can do to avoid it. Just play through the match and hope for a better one next time.
Also, don't hesitate to camp, tunnel or slug them when they're giving you a hard and frustrating time. Play as if the Survivors were bots.
-
If there was nothing left to whine about, no challenge and no fun anymore then the game would not be "perfect for me".
My expectation of a perfect game doesn't mean it's 100% bug free or perfectly balanced, it means I can enjoy the game at all times without having to deal with anything that ruins my mood. I think I only played one game like that and this was Dark Messiah Of Might And Magic, the multiplayer. No matter if I died or killed, every single action in this game was fun and filled me with joy. I can't remember a single match where I ended up in a bad mood.

or an easy one π
Implying that SWFs are more skilled than solos, which is not the case.
-
It means Killers are looking for a balanced match.
-
When the streamer from the _UK with a weird moustache checked out my Steam profile after I 4k him & his team and he quite literally said:
"Ohh a swiss guy, I thought swiss guys are chill! ...and he is absolutely beautiful, you guys have to check him out! The comment section is full of Survivors complaining about his playstyles!"
Followed by a storm of fanboys insulting me and leaving random comments on my profile.
I felt really proud, triggering a manchild to the point where they actually insult me personally on stream :)
-
That sounds really interesting though.... Too bad SWF makes it impossible to implement because they would abuse it but I'd love to spectate Killers after they rekt me.
-
You don't have to do all the gens, you do 2 gens and escape via hatch.
If you finish 2 gens without any other gens popping, never touch a gen again. You got 3 incompetent teammates, make sure to get hatch and move on.
-
Imagine a frenzy Leatherface jumping over pallets to chainsaw your lil' booty.

Ranking is very good now. You rank up when you did exceptionally good against decent opponent. Most games is just safety. This is exactly how it should be. Ranks will mean something week after next reset. At long last.
Edit: Have some humility, truth is, most of us do not deserve r1.
Quite the opposite.
The better you play, the harder you demolish your opponents and the sooner the match is over. Short matches mean low emblem progression, even though you completly dominated the match.
Instead of getting rewarded for such exceptionally good playstyles you get punished. You're forced to prolong the match in an unnatural way to farm the emblems up even though you've already won 10 minutes ago.
Very good ranking, yes. /s

Gonna take them a lot to get me back.

@HavelmomDaS1 yeah i never have much issue. You just got to be really on top of things now. I might make a thread about builds to pip soon if people are still upset about their sides. I've got quite a few builds. Also some killers are seriously rising up in tierlists with the difficulty to pip. For example, Hag, whereas Nurse is falling lower (still second to Spirit) because if you end a game quickly now, you depip. Killers who have amazing map pressure and stall potential like Hag and Billy are really good for this system. I'll be making a thread anyway though.
Billy is not good for that system because his chainsaw hits are only counted as one hit and he therefore only gets half the points for Chaser and Malicious compared to basic M1 Killers.
There are 4 Survivors, each Survivor can get hooked 3 times so assuming we're not camping or tunneling, that leads to 24 hits in total. 12 hits for Billy, assuming you're chainsawing people all the time to not end up as "Baby M1 Billy".
12 hits, 12 hooks and 8 heals results in SILVER Malicious Emblem.
12 Survivors found, 12 hits with <30 second chases leads to SILVER Chaser Emblem.
And there we are. Even if you get Iridescent in Devout and Gatekeeper, you won't be able to pip. Impossible. Simply because you're a crazy Billy that mastered the chainsaw. That's where I am, btw. I have to farm the last 2 Survivors to farm those Chaser and Malicious points and what can I say? Those Survivors are not happy about it but the system forces me to do so.
The lack of knowledge in this thread... π
-
In case anyone is interested, I created an excel sheet a while ago to calculate the emblem progression for Survivors.
Survivor Lightbringer,Unbroken,Benevolent,Evader [s] Gens done (you),1,Escaped (Y/N),Y,Safe unhooks:,2,40,<5m hidden:,0,0 Gens done (total):,5,Downed (times),1,Unsafe unhooks:,0,0,<10m hidden:,0,0 Gates opened:,1,Died after minute:,9,total unhooks:,8,80,<20m hidden:,0,0 Hex totems:,0,0,Healed (%...I'm well aware that it's poorly done and I solely created it for myself to test and tweak around but feel free to test it, the yellow / red cells can be modified, the others you can't.

if you think that mm had 0 effect on survivors pipping youβre wild Bc I was farmed so many times over and over by incompetent teammates that were in yellow, brown, and green ranks. Sooo it kind of does. Kind of hard to pip when youβre farmed. I had to pick swf back up Bc the farming was getting out of control. Iβm pipping now, Bc I have teammates I can trust. Coincidence?i think not.
Oh you're totally right, in that regard I agree it had lots of impact. I thought you meant that with the Matchmaking reversal, they also "fixed" the ranking system.
-
Imagine buying a game that takes hours to get you in a match that only lasts a few minutes.
If Dead By Daylight wasn't so addictive, people wouldn't just take that crap without creating a massive shitstorm with it. And yes, I'm well aware that this can be taken literally.
-
@HavelmomDaS1 You're putting me in a dangerous state of mind and I don't want to risk a ban, which is why I am leaving this discussion before it triggers me too much. Someone else may want to take my place.

I haven't changed my playstyle, I play the same like previously. I run the killer long, do gens, save my mates (hooks, flashlights, bodyblocks) and I'm usually the MVP who can turn a 3 slugs and 1 last standing survivor (me) into a situation where everyone is standing again.
If you and others are stealthily in corners of the map, don't risk ######### and get downed within 20 seconds it's not my issue, it's your issue beeing bad. Simple is that.
It's pointless to discuss with you, you don't know the requirements to pip. If you dominate the Killer, it's impossible for all Survivors to pip, that's a simple fact because your points as Survivor are very limited. You have to hope for incompetent teammates that allow YOU to get the points. If they're good players, it's going to be a race for the points and only 1-2 players per team can pip, even though everyone played flawlessly.
I already explained (or tried to explain) the flaws of the system countless times here in the most logical and understandable way possible but if people refuse to read / understand how it works, it's a waste of time.
The Matchmaking has absolutely nothing to do with the pip system...

No I don't know the requirements to pip because I don't give a damn ######### about pips, it's meaningless. However, I went from rank 5 to rank 2 the last night without issues. So you guys are probably not as good as you think you are, simple is that.
You don't know how the Emblem System works but you still feel the need to discuss about it?
That explains your previous statement. The pip system punishes efficient and skillful playstyles while it rewards inefficient playstyles. That's probably also why you have no problem pipping. Good players will struggle pipping because they dominate so clearly that they won't have enough time to farm the emblems, because they win too early.
That's my problem personally, I have no problem winning matches but I'm forced to farm the last two survivors to get those Chaser points, otherwise I might end up only safety pipping in Rank 3, even though I 4k.
-
You're not supposed to leave the match when you get the chance to! Next time, stealth around the Killer after the gates are open to farm up those last few Evader points for the double pip!
Seems like that's the playstyle devs try to promote with the recent changes. Rush gens and when you have an exit available, go for the risky emblems!
-
That should be the least of your concerns when you aim for that achievement. One disconnect and it's ruined.
-
@Mr_K said:
DCs are too common to farm every game it happens in. If the game starts with less than four survivors I will let them go. If a survivor rage quits after a long chase, too bad, I will continue to play normally.
Very true aswell.
I stopped "farming" when I realized Survivors actually expect it and don't even appreciate it anymore. Not even a "gg ty" after I wasted 10 minutes allowing them to finish the gens and escape? Nope, sorry, not gonna happen again.
Killers are not responsible for your disconnecting teammates. It's pure goodwill if they decide to farm, but they don't have to.
-
That would mean... if a Killer gets gen rushed they shouldn't depip?
Where's the logic in that?
-
Someone that probably never played Billy tells me, one of the greatest Billy mains in existence, that Billy requires no skill.
-
My guess is that the combination of Legion with Sloppy Butcher & Thanatophobia was the reason for that.
It's not a broken combo but most players fail to realize how to counter it and instead mass DC / suicide.
-
The best and most enjoyable situations for me are usually the ones where I already won and have no time pressure anymore.
Finally time to figure new mindgames, find ways to deal with loops ect.
I don't even care if I get looped for 10 minutes at that point, I simply enjoy the chases and can totally focus on it without getting distracted.
During a normal chase it's the sound of gens popping left and right that make it so annoying, stressful and pressuring. It's like an immaginary voice that tells you: "HURRY UP! You're taking too long for that chase, people are going to escape soon!".
TL;DR: The perfect match? A match where I have plenty of time to actually play the game.
-
NOED is the ultimate IN YOUR FACE perk. You rush gens, expect to get an easy escape and the last *BLING* goes boooom and you get rekt.
Knowing perfectly well that you messed up for not cleansing the totems, you start to complain and insult the Killers for using a high risk / high reward perk.
Classic, that's why I love DbD.
-
Time for a break.
Lots of issues in Dead By Daylight, if you can't handle it anymore, stop playing and hope that they get fixed in the meantime.
-
I can imagine the combination of new Emblem System and old Matchmaking to be really bad.
-
Reminds me of my old meme xD
-
2019 and people still complain that Killers can reach through windows....
It's not a wall, it's a hole. Open your car window and see what happens. Things can go in and out of your car now through that window. It's crazy!
-
...either killing everyone or escaping the Player that tries to kill everyone. (can actually also be a Survivor)
-
As always: Quality over quantity.
I'd rather have monthly streams with content of high quality instead of weekly streams with content of low quality. We now reached a point where low quality meets low quantity :P
-
@JawsIsTheNextKiller Thank you.
Unironically, good friends started to call me like that on a daily base which lead to short version "Pii" which spread quite quickly. Everyone calls me "Pi" now (pronounced like "pee" in switzerland) without even knowing the origin of that nickname, thinking it has something to do with Pi, the symbol.
When I drink too much when going out, I start to use it as an opener for conversations with cute girls as they always want to know why I'd want them to call me "Pee".
