The Game & Lérys.
You can easily lose orientation on those maps which makes it so much more interesting to me. Rotten Field is also nice for that matter.
-
Thanks to the Survivors that let me farm the "DERANGED PURSUIT" Achievement!
-
I've seen "Bubbas Basement Security", not bad for roleplaying.
-
Hillbilly is probably the best Killer against bad Survivors that lack awareness.
Spirit, Nurse and arguably Huntress/Hag are much stronger against competent Survivors as they can stop loopers regardless of their skill. A Hillbilly is very predictable, if you get hit by a chainsaw flick during the loop you're simply really bad at looping. It requires skill for the Billy player to flick around loops but it doesn't take nearly as much skill to just juke the chainsaw with a one-eighty. How are you going to juke a Spirit, Nurse, Huntress or Hag? It's always a mindgame while Billy is straight forward, quite literally.

Let's be honest, we're all ignorants here but yes, some people simply complain and rant too much, I totally agree.
I just think it's funny that people judge his credibility based on a tier list he presented a few months ago where he put Hag on D tier.
A Killer tier list is always based on a personal experience, it can be very different from player to player - unless you just copy & paste popular lists and pretend that you know what you're talking about.
That's what makes it interesting after all. Tyde puts Hag at tier D? Interesting, I wanna know the reasoning behind that instead of instantly calling him out as a noob for doing so. I don't have to agree with him, I can just listen to his opinion without letting it affect me too much.
-
0 hours playtime in the past 2 weeks. Feels great, I can only recommend!
-
You discredit someones opinion because months ago they had the impression that Hag was D tier? How simple-minded and ignorant are you guys?
Instantly had me realize why I should stay away from this forum.
-
Wow, that's crazy! Absolutely disgusting behaviour of that Killer main and I feel ashamed as a Killer main myself. I'm really sorry that you had to go through this horrible experience. People insulting others and telling them to kill themselves, that's inacceptable and should result in a ban.
Unfortunately, this happens a lot in Dead By Daylight and I'm not sure how strict they are with the bans. I've reported hundreds of players for insulting me and wishing me cancer and other nasty stuff.
I really hope they got what they deserved but I highly doubt it, otherwise we'd see them crying here in the forum.
Always make sure to report them ingame, that'll send the chat log to the devs so they can take care of it.
-
Neither of those are honorable but lobby dodging is certainly "better" than disconnecting during the match.
-
It was clearly addiction for me. I would keep playing even though I had zero fun.
Sometimes I'd start the game and be like: "Killer or Survivor? Killer gonna be frustrating as #########.... Survivor is boring.... Ah ######### it let's go Killer!".
I already knew chances are low that I'd actually enjoy the matches but I still played. Good thing I realized that it only lead to me being triggered af. (maybe also tendencies to masochism that I wasn't aware of 😂)
-
@Peasant Mettle of Man is just one of the issues.
- broken matchmaking
- broken ranking system
- bugs, glitches
- low quality content
- poorly designed perks
- weak killers
- broken lobbies
- infinite loading screen / disconnects during loading screen
- disconnects during matches (unintended)
- disconnects during matches (intended)
- Legion
- SWF
I think this covers most of the issues.
-
Do you really need an answer for that? I think there are plenty of forum threads that point out the main issues... ^^

Don't need a pass, never said I was judging. I am toxic as well. 😂
I take my hat off to them for dodging the ban hammer, from what I have seen most of the long time posters are getting banned.
Exactly. I'd leave aswell, or maybe I'd lurk around with a new account just to make sure my 10k posts main account survives the ban hammer 🤣 It's a smart move.
-
@Bithard You're new here so I'll let that pass but just to let you know, Surviving 10'000 posts without getting hit by the ban hammer is quite impressive.
If they're toxic that just makes it even more impressive, considering that even the nicest people are regularly getting banned for minor inconveniences.
It's sad and funny at the same time 😁
-
The implementation of MoM proved to me once again that the people with responsibilities in BHVR apparently don't know ######### about their own game. Yes, people are having a hard time dealing with all the 2nd chance perks, that's one of the reasons why they stop playing Killer or Dead By Daylight in general.
-
C&P:
The problems I have with such perks are:
- They reward Survivors for their failure
- They punish Killers for their success
- They have no counter
It's only the combination that makes it a problem to me. Let's take Dead Hard as a better example:
- Rewards Survivors for their good timing
- Punishes Killers for their impatience
- Has a counter, don't get baited
That's how a good perk should be designed like. Rewarding players for playing smart.
That's been said: I'm not going to cry about MoM as I won't be playing DbD anytime soon again. It's just sad that they keep implementing no-skill 2nd chance perks à la old DS, now with MoM. That's all.
Sidenote; This is also something that bothers me as Survivor btw. People want more interesting matches instead of a boring gen repair simulator but at the same time they celebrate passive perks that require no skill, timing or map awareness at all. Urban Evasion, Iron Will, Sprint Burst, Self Care, Unbreakable, MoM...
-
Farewell, hope you'll find a better time-waster soon. I also stopped playing since a while but I'm still checking the forums from time to time out of interests.... obviously always disappointed because "same #########, different day" literally for years.
-
This feels like a déjà vu. We had the same situation in ARK: Survival Evolved, anyone that followed them through the development from Alpha to Full Release will understand what I'm talking about.
There's always two types of players in a community: The fanboys / white knights and the "haters".
Developers (should) have the capacity to take criticism and use it in a constructive way. I don't understand why people feel the need to babysit the developers as if they were some kids that need protection, it's just embarassing. Our feedback, even if it's negative and even if it's poorly worded or comes off mean, is still of a lot more value and importance than the feedback of a fanboy that just keeps telling them how perfect and great everything is, even though it's obviously not.
The game will never improve if everyone keeps telling them that everything is great. After almost 3 years I was hoping that people finally realized that, but I guess not.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
And now my personal impression after almost 3 years: The devs are probably laughing their asses off when they read stuff like OP. "Such a cute, naive playerbase". What do parents do when they get tired of an annoying toy? They take out the batteries and tell their kids "Ohhh no the battery is dead! It's a very special battery. We tried really hard to find another one but we just couldn't.... So sorry kids!!". "It's okay mom, we know that you try your best...".
That's my personal "mean feedback". That's how I feel being treated like, do they take me for a fool? They're well aware of the issues and I'm sure the issues could've been fixed by now if they finally decided to fix them. But why should they? It's not in their interest. It's in the interest of us, the players that already paid them.
A good example regarding the previous analogy I made: There was a discussion about the DS buff where someone asked why they didn't also implement a feature that recognizes if the Killer hooked someone in the meantime and then it would deactive DS. The devs reaction: It's a lot easier to quickly adjust the stun time, the hook mechanic would require a lot more work!
They release the Plague, Jane and Ash all with completly new perks and mechanics. Apparently, it's not worth investing time to fix issues in their game when you can instead just create new content and get cash.
/rant
E: and don't get me wrong, this is not aimed at the great developers, community managers and mods in this community but the lead positions. The ones that set the priorities and make such poor decisions. I feel sorry for all the poor souls that have to talk to us and therefore getting all the blame even though they can't do ######### about it. It's like working as a waiter and the customer shouts at you because the food wasn't perfect. You did nothing wrong but you still get the blame. It seems impossible for us to reach the responsible person, unfortunately.
-
It's clear to most Dead By Daylight player that the Emblem System (and therefore the whole ranking system) does not represent skill. It seems like the devs are the only people in this community that still believe Rank = Skill, which is quite a shocker.
We've had many discussions in this forum where people made their points as to why rank = skill is not the case. A rare moment when Survivors and Killers shared the same opinion: the ranking system is poorly designed and does not reward efficient & high skill but inefficient and illogical gameplay. Quantity over Quality, which seems to be a business philosophy BHVR loves to use. It doesn't matter if your actions made any sense as long as it allowed you to reach the required numbers to get the emblem. Outplay a Killer so no one ever gets hooked? Enjoy a depip. Outplayed the Survivors so everyone dies on first hook? Enjoy a depip!

I'm in this forum since it exists, always reading & sometimes trying to give my inputs for (imo) relevant discussions. I'm on the steam forum for over 2 years now, used to be very active there aswell.
After all this time invested (and wasted) I realized that our discussions are pointless, they have next to no impact even if they are of high quality. Remember the infamous "Ranked & Casual Game Mode" thread from weirdkid5 with thousands of supporters? Blatantly ignored, not a single reaction.
Many players invest a lot of time trying to give high quality feedback... but what for? It's of no impact. They might read it up that doesn't mean it is of any value.
This might sound harsh but I think the most impactful sign you can give BHVR is when you just stop playing the game. It's hard to some of us, but that's how you reach BHVR. When the player numbers drop, they'll react.
Plague & Ash DLC didn't really push the player numbers as expected, which let's me assume their "new content = more players" policy is not going to work for much longer. People are looking for quality content instead of quantity. We have enough Killers,Survivors and Perks that no one will ever use because they're so poorly balanced. That's just one issue besides tons of MAJOR issues other users already have mentioned in their threads.
It's just sad, really. So many players that care about the game, it should be a privilege to have them in the community but I feel like there is no appreciation at all.
E: Not to mention how many of them got banned for minor inconveniences after participating in this forum for months with several thousand posts. Make 2-3 mistakes and you're gone.
-
How much distance can a Survivor cover after getting hit by the Killer until the Killer can move again.
How long does it take for a basic 4.6m/s Killer to catch up with them again?
E: Another question after reading @Peanits post:
Can I bookmark a single post? 🤣

Mostly Metal, currently got back into Static-X because of recent news.
Old Soilwork, In Flames, As I Lay Dying, Architects, Parkway Drive, DevilDriver, Lamb Of God, Drowning Pool, All That Remains, Ill Nino, Equilibrium, Hatebreed just to name a few favourites.
Also love irish stuff like Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly and the old classics like Bloodhound Gang, The Offspring and of course The Prodigy. Then totally different stuff like Netsky (Drum&bass) or the basic "weaklings" stuff like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Moby, Everlast. Everyone has their sensitive moments so stfu :) <3 Music is a very important part of my life.

Welcome to the club!
It doesn't surprise me that Dead By Daylight is so popular even though it has lots of issues, bugs and imbalances, the same happened in ARK:
LOTS of inexperienced, new gamers casually tried the game, instantly fell in love, got addicted and turned into fanboys. "Wow, such an awesome game, riding dinos and stuff!!". It's the same in Dead By Daylight, lots of inexperienced and unskilled players that won't even notice imbalances. They love the concept of the game and that's all that matters.
Dead by daylight has many casual players, so the developers balance the game around them. I'm not a casual and the imbalance is ruining my experience soI FINALLY decided to give it a break.
It's a nice game for casuals and I hope they can enjoy the game for some more time but I don't think it's good for experienced gamers, at least not as long as it lacks proper balance, ranking system and matchmaking. The imbalance messes up the skill distribution between Survivors and Killers too much.
-
Currently mostly ARK, sometimes Apex Legends, PUBG, Satisfactory, Green Hell, The Forest or I just try out one of my hundred games that I never touched so far.
-
Yes, punishing DCs with bans IS a solution, in my opinion it's THE solution.
I don't want to EVER play with DCs again so to keep me, a fair player, away from DCs, they can simply ban them or create a low priority queue where only people thelike play.
Let the DCs play amongst each other while fair players play amongst each other. EZ fix.
-
People actually disconnect this often. Maybe it's a bug in 1 out of 10 times but not more. Lots of players even here in the forum admit that they instantly DC against Nurse, Legion, Plague, Doctor, certain maps and lots of other "reasons".
Just ask yourself, why would you (as developer) let that pass without any punishment literally for years now?
I tell you why: There are SO MANY disconnects that they would effectively lose a big part of the playerbase if they decided to punish them. They're like insecure teens desperately trying to please the masses and too afraid of taking any risks because it could piss them off.
Quantity over quality. 20k unhappy players are more lucrative than 10k happy and 10k banned players.
E: I also don't understand this modern "offender protection" philosophy (not sure if it's called like that in english but you get it). Why would you protect people that frequently ruin the matches for others? Let them pay for their behaviour.

"We" as in humans. I'm not a doctor, but I have looked into the subject myself out of curiosity.
Well, yeah, third-world countries are obviously different, but that's like extrapolating from the Sahara that the Earth is devoid of water.
I wasn't aware that I have to specificly mention 3rd world countries to point out that it's a realistic scenario that probably still is happening as we speak. Thought it was kinda obvious that it's not happening in a country like switzerland, although we can't know that for sure.

ECT nowadays is not the barbaric practice that it once was. It's only used as a last resort and we understand how to do it properly. It has its benefits.
"We" do?
I'm sure all clinics in well-educated countries know how and when to use it but there are also other parts on earth with lower standards and no one to control their doings.
-
One hundred percent NO.
-
To me, Doctor is the sickest Killer. Imagine having your brain roasted on a regular base until you go insane.
And that's a realistic scenario, probably still happens to "patients" at this moment since electroconvulsive therapy is still a thing in some countries.
-
It's either the Killer dominating the Survivors or the other way around, I find really balanced matches to be quite rare. I'm either bored because of "easy 4k" or I'm completly pissed and tilted because I tryhard like crazy, pull the sickest plays and still end up with only 0-2k.
Is the reason why I had to stomp playing DbD, it's just not fun anymore to me at the moment. Stomp or get stomped, repeat.
-
I think that players who struggle against a Billy generally need to get better at the game. Lack of skill is not really a reason to nerf something. Billy is good at punishing Survivors with no map awareness but can get looped very easily.
If that team you faced was actually good, they would've 2-3x escaped. If you get a bad map, might even end up with 0-1k. I'm Billy main and I 3-4k like 90% of my matches in high rank but I still get completly roflstomped when I face 4 actually good players, they put me back to reality and demonstrate what good players are capable of. And how powerless you can feel even as Billy.
-
Ohhh that's my speciality!
I Urban Evasion around the hook desperately waiting for a moment to unhook them while I know damn well that the Killer won't leave. I won't touch a single gen during that time because I want to be ready when I get the possibility to unhook!
This often leads to a 4k, so I make sure to insult the Killer in the endgame chat!
-
Stop playing is one way to tell them to fix their ######### since feedbacks don't really do the job, as time has proven....
Yes, IIRC Mathieu Cote himself said that quite literally but don't ask me for the quote, I won't be able to find it.
-
@MhhBurgers I'm all for buffing the other Killers but to put it in the words of the devs:
Not all Killers have to be viable in high Rank.
Or as you would say:
Give up your hopes.
-
@MhhBurgers said:
As long as billy and nurse are on this level we cannot possibly ask for more survivor nerfs or killer buffs that affect everybody, altho nurse is not such an issue for most ppl since most ppl suck with her.
Billy would not be an issue at all if Survivors would not suck in first place. That's where we're drifting back to the other topic:
You need balanced matches (regarding skill) to be able to tell what side is broken. Most high rank Billy players have over thousand hours experience, it's obvious that they'll destroy some unskilled survivors, that's how it should be. Play Billy against 4 skilled survivors and you'll feel as weak as a Leatherface.
The strength of Billy mainly comes from the unawareness / underrating of bad Survivors. "I'll just stay on that gen a few seconds longer even though I see Billy coming, I don't have to leave yet!" and booom the go down.
E: I'd make an exception with Enduring / Spirit Fury combo (which I have never used, ever) but that's solely because of those perks, it has absolutely nothing to do with Billy himself.
-
Hey, don't you dare telling them to touch my Billyboii. They can buff the others but DO NOT touch my Billyboii!
-
-
The other way around; I think you need ranked to be able to balance the game.
As long as 200 hours scrubs face 2'000 hours veterans, you'll never have truly balanced matches. You won't be able to tell if the stomp happened because of skill differences or because of actual unbalances in the game.
Another reason for ranked is: To find proper balance you need both sides to try to win. If one side plays for fun, they will naturally lose which makes it look as if the other side was too strong. You need ranked to get matches of people with equal skill that both want to win.
IMO most important thing:
A proper matchmaking and ranking system that puts people of the same experience and skill together. When you have balanced matches regarding skill, you can start to balance the game.
-
Yea, or for example a ranked 5v5 mode where complete teams (4 Survivors and 1 Killer) simulatenously play against each other.
-
Possibly, yes. Those add-ons make a big difference. Having them as baseline while still being able to use other add-ons on top of them would make him a lot stronger.
That's been said, I'm not a fan of tier lists, especially not when there's no definition to it. With add-ons or without? With perks or without? Good at killing survivors or good at pipping / filling up emblems? Leatherface is horrible if you plan to pip, using the chainsaw effectively halfs your possible Chaser and Malicious Emblem progression.
His chainsaw would be stronger for chases / killing, obviously, but you'd still have a hard time maintaining rank 1 with him because of the ######### ranking system.
-
Not bad.
I'd put Pig, Trapper and Leatherface lower though.
-
Kate, she always gives me a hard time
-
That means if all 4 Survivors use MoM, they can safe 4 x 32 seconds just for not healing. 2 Minutes. That's a lot of time for a match that only lasts around 7-10 minutes, especially considering that you're doing absolutely nothing to get this bonus time.
-

@Saint_Ukraine: Thanks for the info. I'm on PC, so never got to test it when it leaked.
Yeah, okay then, it adds a minor (and I stress that) challenge to downing the survivor for one time. As a killer player, I don't see MoM being any more of an issue than DS was. Could they be annoying when facing more than one Survivor with the Perk in the same trial? Sure. Just like NOED is annoying for survivors.
But MoM isn't the end of the world, any more than DS was (despite what the forums liked to claim).
The problems I have with such perks are:
- They reward Survivors for their failure
- They punish Killers for their success
- They have no counter
It's only the combination that makes it a problem to me. Let's take Dead Hard as a better example:
- Rewards Survivors for their good timing

- Has a counter, don't get baited

The issue is that they balance the game for casuals but then again they don't. They don't want to give killers the option of winning the game against perfect opponents and at the same time they don't want to make the game easier for 80% of the survivor playerbase. The game has no clear direction which is why its #########. They need to decide on sth and stick with it. Too many nerfs that hit low skill survivors much harder than high skill ones (nerfs to pallet count being the biggest issue) while they're simultaneously not making viable killers anymore but still keep 2 killers out that outshine the others by a RIDICULOUS margine. They need to decide what they want to do, have this game be a casual experience for everybody or make this game some kind of wannabe tournament game.
They could do both if they implemented new game modes.
