Suffering is half the fun.
-
"SCREAM FOR ME Doc"
- Distressing
- Infectious Fright
- Dragon's Grip
- Iron Maiden
Add-ons: Calm and Order.
Make them scream more than a basic chick watching Paranormal Activity. All the screaming all the time.

It's only hostage holding if there is no way for them to leave unless they DC.
Like never hooking them?
Because that happened.
-
Yep. And if you keep on slugging them, and farming them, it's also holding the game hostage as you are not allowing them to die.
Unbreakable was made meta because of situations like this.

Freddy for sure, maybe doctor if you know him well. Freddy is a strong killer and is relatively simple with few addons that are great such as the paint brush or cooldown addons. Keep in mind however, that the ranking in this game really is not at its best, meaning it hardly works properly if at all. He doesn't require much mechanical skill like nurse or huntress as well. So I would recommend Freddy and maybe the doctor. I say maybe the doctor because his shock therapy is strong and his addons are pretty good for the most part.
So, Doctor is my second most played killer, BUT I always use the Calm/Order add-ons. As for Freddy, I did play a game last night before I read your reply here.
The result was a match on the Sanctum of Wrath. 3 Generators remaining, hatch escape.
No camping, no tunnelling, no Snare spam at loops. Lots of healing, surprisingly. Never got hit by a DS.

Does it though? I thought calm spirit completely counters infectious and doctor's static in terms of revealing position.
Pffft. I dunno. I just know it has a chance to negate screaming. The only Jake perk I really care about these days is Iron Will because that perk decent!

According to the people on this forum, if you're all slugged at 4 or 5 gens, you're just bad. I disagree with them.
Oh, yeah. I'm bad because my teammate fed a killer with an instant down.
They've also called me bad for pointing out that Billy running around RISK FREE was bad for the game. Overheat was added a few months later. But no. I'm the bad one, right?
It's good to see that I'm not the only one who goes against the mob mentality.

I honestly forgot Pig had UR addons
It's because they're trash and detrimental.
Ruleset No. 2, which a lot of people want as BASE KIT, forces survivors onto generators to activate the box aura. Onto generators. That you do not want completed. Ever.
Amanda's Letter reduces the RBT's to ONE trap and TWO boxes. It can still be molded by other add-ons, but still, one extra trap or box. Same timer. Gives me 12m wall hacks. Literally Wraith's All Seeing - Blood, but takes away my primary power and is worse for me because Wraith has a speed boost in cloak, whereas I have a speed penalty in crouch.

"Feels like I barely hear anyone screaming when I down someone, although I see scream bubbles around me"
I'm in T3 and I have Terror Radius, obviously, but thanks.
Are any of them using Calm Spirit? Because that's the only thing I can think of since Billy/Oni with Infectious and Doc are decently popular, and I for one am sick to death of chain instant-downs to a 4 man slug at 4 or 5 generators left.
Calm Spirit does negate screaming but the notifications might still go ahead.

I used to play a bit of pig in my day, and while the tape recorder add-on is dookie, the letter is quite nice as you are
1) crouched and barely visible through any wall over 2ft tall
2) and can see people through walls like a Chinese PUBG player
If you mean Ruleset No.2, then yes. Completely trash.
As for Amanda's Letter, you lose a majoriof your primary power for the same ability that Wraith has on a PURPLE add-on, and he's faster in his stealth form!

Funny how people keep on saying this...
People said the gen rush meta was because of the nurse:
The Nurse got nerfed and the meta didn't change.
People THEN said the gen rush meta was because of the spirit and her prayer beads:
The spirit an her prayer beads got nerfed and the meta didn't change.
People THEN SAID AGAIN said the gen rush meta was because of billy and his instant saw:
Billy and instant saw got nerfed and the meta didn't change.
Notice a pattern?
What was the response to tunnellers and campers from killers? "Just do gens."
Survivors did. They found out that doing them quickly gets you out reliably.
Spreading out also avoids Discordance, Infectious Fright, slugs, and Plague's vomit being spread to the whole team.
I am in no way insinuating that one side is to blame. Just noticing a trend myself.
-
It's based on Terror Radius. Unless you're doing something like T3 with M&A, then you aren't going to have much of a radius for it to happen.
As for volumes, I never use IF so I can't say.
-
- I've always said that needs to go
- You can place portals ANYWHERE, where Freddy is limited to 7 points, at the start of the game and reduced in number as the game progresses.
- As a Pig main, hi. Let's talk TRASH RED ADD-ONS.
- He hasn't been out THAT long and with licencing, that's also going to be an issue.
- No clue here. Probably a coding thing so you don't jump onto objects.
-
Bit more of an advanced question for you to test you: what's a good killer for a CONSOLE player to rank up with quickly that can be played without add-ons?
My rank slipped a bit because I focused on Survivor archives and slaughtering Rank 20's who literally have no clue just isn't fun. There is no thrill because there is no hunt.

I am not trying to justify what the legion did(They're insanely entitled) but:
Let not kind ourselves DS/Unbreakable would still be as prevalent even without people like this because its an insanely strong perk combo that forces killers into "Lose/Lose" situations.
A lot of people play to win and DS/Unbreakable is the best perk combo for survivors when it comes down to helping you win games.
I don't think that people would have really found it without being forced towards it, or at least it wouldn't be so prevalent now.
-
That sort of killer mentality is EXACTLY why I made that thread saying how we each have 4 objectives.
There is so much more to this game than kills and escapes.
If it weren't for people like them, DS wouldn't be so popular. We then wouldn't have skugging on response to DS, leading to a surge in Unbreakable use. We brought the current meta upon ourselves.

-
Congrats. You can now officially stop caring about ranks with a legitimate excuse.
My best ranks are 3 a Survivor and 7 with Killer (pre-Ruin rework.......) and I can't stand red ranks atm.
One thing that I can say is that I have never hated the GAME, only those that play it. The only time that I have ever truly stopped was when Dedicated Servers came to Xbox and I was getting stabbed from 5m away.
Honestly, the devs do deserve more credit than these forums give them. Yes there have been mistakes (initial Dedicated Servers, OG Mettle of Man, release Nurse) but they've been dealt with. If the community self-moderated a bit more, then this game would be in a healthier state.
While I don't agree with the calls to change perks like DS or UB, I can see the reasons why people are calling for them and if the devs did change them for a time then reverted them on the sly, it would help a lot. Problem is that both sides allow camping, tunnelling and gen-rushing.
I'll keep trying to remind the community that we are half of the picture and doing what I can to lower toxicity.
Anyway, enjoy Rank 1. I'm gonna try to fast-grind out of brown ranks for killer and get to Rank 10 Survivor on an alt account with no Exhaustion perks!

Region and time of day is always useful for context. I'm on Aus Syd and usually after 10pm AEST.

You know, change the OR to AND, and that's literally my Freddy build. Before someone tells at me, only Thanataphobia is level 3. I haven't levelled him up much.

I never ran add-ons. I quit playing Billy because his camera and animations are horrendous and kill the entire experience. Don't even get me started on the roar, completely unnecessary and a weird extra shadow nerf to him. I say it is a nerf because survivors can react to a Billy curving round a corner etc much easier than without the sound since you react to sound faster than something visual. Not to mention it sounds stupid.
Idk why they wanted to nerf Billy's basekit either because he wasn't even that good without add-ons, no better than Huntress or Freddy, maybe too many people complained, but they did and now we're here. I love BHVR :). At least Blight and Demo still exist. For now.
There would still have been a lot of people who played him because he was easy.
I don't get the roar, but I also don't really care about it.

He isn't "extremely easy to learn", you had to learn a bunch of tactics, like backrevs, curving etc, all hard to pull off.
The only thing he needed was a add-on change, and the only reason overheat should ever exist is to stop camping.
Funny, because majority of Hillbilly players I versed were "Rev saw in M1 distance or use it to sprint" the entire game.
-
Billy was played for the same reason Spirit is now. They're strong and extremely easy to learn.
The difference was that Billy had an isntant-down base kit that required no real work, compared to killers like Myers and Ghostface.
You have everything except stealth in your power, and it replaces his weapon for too many people.
People "quit" Billy because they couldn't cheese him out with insta-saw or Crack Billy any more. He's fine where he is now.

So what about those on the killers side? Outside of a full endgame build, NoED is basically "I messed up, but now I get free kills" the perk.
Hex: Undying saves the totems you failed to defend, Enduring and Spirit Fury both reward you for being bad around pallets, and Unrelenting's entire existence.

Racist, homophobic, or sexist language being viewed as ethically and morally wrong is not a fad. (Language that could also potentially be seen by people under the age of 18).
You’re kind of implying that gaming has been around for ages but gamers don’t grow up.
As someome who works in liquor retail, NOBODY grows up. My customers prove that to me every day.

Normally I send words of encouragement to them first.

As an Xbox player, it's a bit harder to test and do, since people can just ignore messages or think that you're trolling.
That being said, I have sent some positive messages to people and they have been grateful and benefited from them.

Sometimes its really impossible to win, but at least 50% of the games are still winable, as long as you are good at the game.
There are games as killer where you literally can't do anything in order to do well.

I already max pig at level 50 with almost 5 bar killer skills and now I regret .... It's better to spend the bloodpoint at nurse, spirit , oni and doc....
I rarely see Pig, and you know who else J never see? Trapper, Clown, Freddy, Demo, Plague, Oni, Deathslinger, never seen a Blight..........
So please. Tell me that ALL of these are on the same level as Pig.

WARHAMMER 40,000!
Just played a game today with my Harlequins, a group of space-elf murder clowns. Went up against the Space Marines Deathwatch, a group of anti-alien super soldiers.
That and Among Us, Borderlands 2, Rainbow Six: Siege (go team Spetsnaz!) or even Crush Crush. Hopefully work backs off a bit so I can stream the Destroy All Humans! remake.

Ambush is fine. It's great even. And landing a perfectly tipped Ambush is the most satisfying thing in the game for me.
What she needs if anything from GF's crouch is the walking speed, nothing else.

A 25 minute game where the survivors aren't doing anything is not equal to you losing quickly. To my knowledge, the only equivalent way a killer can hold a game hostage is if you get trapped in a corner and they body block you and refuse to hit you. And even then if a single other survivor is alive your team can still win, but regardless of whether your team wins or not, the killer would still be violating the rules by doing that.
Just like stealthing around for 25 minutes can get you banned. Do the objectives or leave the game. Don't intentionally waste everyone's time. Losing quickly just means you get into the next game quicker. Stealthing around means you're hoping the killer DCs so you can "win" by something besides doing your objective.
Facecamping, moris, tunneling, all of that is annoying, but none of it wastes a huge amount of your time or breaks any rules.
I said I play stealth. Not immersed.
What's the difference? I do the damn objective!

Aren't you the one who plays Gen Defender? I know several times I've gotten into Gen Defense mode, and survivors just hide it out. Just the other day I played a group who gen rushed the HELL out of me. I had two hooked, and they still got three gens done somehow. Then they got a 4th gen done, but they three gen'd themselves. Thanks to PGTW I managed to drain the one gen they had done much on, then they spent a good 5-10 minutes hiding in the basement. I couldn't find them anywhere on the map.
Yeah. And by "slaughters" I mean 4-5 generators remaining. I am also playing what can be considered the slowest killers in the game. I spend more time than the average Pig crouched, especially since I don't like Monitor/Whispers on her, Doctor slows himself when using Static Blast and Legion's the Legion.
There is only so much I can do with Ruin, Surveillance, BBq and Nurse's.
-
I don't like being a red ranked survivor. Lately I've barely been able to hold Rank 5 because the survivors are all purple or lower against Rank 1 killers.
I'm also just done with the general sweat level of Reds.

You've never had matches where the last 2 or 3 survivors play for the hatch because they can't finish the gens, then I guess.
No, because my matches are usually slaughters or I get rushed into oblivion.
-
@Mandy said:
There is no way to reset your rank but the good news is that if you're not doing that great in the matches you're in then you will naturally depip to be in a rank that's more suitable for you.
The other thing I would say, is practise as much as you can - even in KYF, practice chases, loops, learning the maps etc.
Also, play both sides - you learn so much about the other side when playing in the opposite roll.
You can, however, naturally de-rank over time by not playing.
Or "not play" by having an alternate account to play on! Even better if you're a console player and it's free!

What's wrong with that exactly?
Survivors can hide in bushes all they like and have it be as effective if not more effective than running loops.
Well, for starters you can actually counter stealth with normal gameplay.
I can see a stealthy player with my eyes and tell what they are doing outside of a rare few exceptions.
If they're also stealthy survivor, unless they're trying to make you DC out of sheer boredom, then they're usually going to be in one of 7 spots that you as killer have full aura readings on.
Stealthy killers also have a telltale audio queue. Myers and Pig have their breathing, Ghostface has his cloak and Wraith has elephant footsteps and the bell. These killers naturally gain Undetectable as part of their kit, yet deny less information than Spirit. These killers have legitimate drawbacks, and I should know. I regularly play them!
-
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia - the fear of long words.
Killer: For each word in your character bio, you gain the Bloodlust status effect 0.01/0.02/0.03% faster, but perform the Vault action 0.01% slower
Survivor: For each word in your character bio, you perform actions 0.01% faster but have a chance to scream when a perk is used/activates equal to 0.1/0.2/0.3% of the total number of words in the perks decription.
Nyctophobia - the fear of darkness or night
Killer: For each powered generator, you kick them 10/20/30% quicker and they regress 5/10/15% faster.
Survivor: Every 10/20/30 seconds that you spend in a dark area, you scream and give the killer a scream notification. While in a lit area, you perform actions 3/4/5% faster.

Again, why would the survivor be the only one to deceive the killer ?
One question, the parchment can break totems (we know), but can it also break the traps of the Trapper? If so, I find it's quite incredible for you to cry for a killer who still needs a minimum of guessing, compared to the survivors who still have a great advantage over the killers' possessions? There are a lot of little things like that but I'll stop here on this subject.
I beat rank 1 with the Spirit, I am level 9. Why? Because they absolutely wanted to looper ! It's not the killer that needs to be changed, but the survivors we need to change strategy (we all know that high ranking survivors like to play this, LOOP). And like I said and I will say it again, the spirit is the only killer able to counter the loop effectively (but can still get beaten, I manage to beat the Spirit... Why rank 1 and you even do not can't beat her?) .. can't find an excuse for me "survivors rank 20", beginners can easily be fooled by all killers! What bothers the survivors is not being able to loop efficiently around the same pallet for a long time, that's all your problem, and Spirit can counteract that. A stealthy Claudette is able to counter (without perk) so stop making excuses, there is no need for perk to counter Spirit, it's all in the game of hide and seek !
I happened to lose some very careful and calm survivors, NINJAs. How many NINJA on DBD? Not a lot, most survivors prefer to run paletts on paletts, that's why you get knocked down! Noise is what attracts the spirit, without noise the spirit is lost. Easy like hello
When. Did. I. Ever. Say. That.
You're also ignoring Deathslinger, NURSE, Hag, Doctor and Freddy for anti-looping. Hell, I can do anti-loop as Pig.
I am not making excuses, and despite my name, I'm a Yui main now. Spirit literally has no feedback, therefore NO TRUE COUNTERPLAY.
Hell, I've even taken down Rank 2 survivors as a Rank 16 Pig. One of the "weakest" killers in the game..
Counter my points or admit that you have no real argument. Stop putting words into my mouth, I never mentioned survivor stealth or one side deceiving the other.
If you want to play on easy mode, I won't stop you, but you're not going to convince me with weak arguments like you are providing.

But the reason the game is M-rated is so little kids don't play it. I don't see any issue here. Plus, FNAF is rated "PG-13 for disturbing/violent content, some language, and horror", pretty much on-par with what is in DBD, though not as much blood-and-gore. It's up the parents to monitor what their kids play.
"It's up the parents to monitor what their kids play."
OH BOY! If only they actually did! I've actually had a game where a survivor ran out with an active Reverse Bear Trap, die, and question me on what happened. Then also admitted to being too young to watch the actual SAW movies, and I'm like "######### KID? THIS GAME IS MA15+!" to myself.
If a minor comes into my work and tries to buy something, they're removed pretty bloody quickly. The joys of working in liquor.
