Tbf there's a lot of more important things they left out of the notes.

Do tell, please. I don't have access to the PTB.

  • People tend to bully Nurses because the Nurse is literally the strongest (and hardest) killer in the game, so if you have the stones to play her in a round then people will assume you're a very competent or arrogant killer.

Personally, I respect everyone equally until I am given a reason to do otherwise. I just hope that people do the same, but mutual respect seems to be a rare thing these days.

  • People don't like being told "no", so there's your Doctor issue solved. Stealthy bois and gals scream and go down quickly, while loopers can't vault or drop a pallet, then get hit.

As for Legion, who knows. If they keep healing, or you as the Legion keep on using Feral Frenzy, then all you do is Mend all game until you either finally power through the generators or offer yourselves up as sacrificed for the Entity. And yes, I have had this happen. I was that Legion, with a farming build no less.

1: Rank 1 survivors know it's nonsense! Why ? Because they know the Spirit. Only the low rank players are lost, how many don't engage in a chase with the Spirit thinking she is a nurse 2.0 when she is the strongest killer in the game. You shouldn't engage in a chase with the killers when you don't know them! The Doctor is much more cheated than the Spirit in loop (as in all in fact) and nobody says anything... the Spirit it asks for training, time to understand...

2: As says Clickyclicky we can hear it but it requires training to the sound. If the killer has to train why not the survivor?

3: I spent the night on her last night, I destroyed SWF teams with ease, because I know the Spirit today, even better than the nurse. I just had to listen to the sounds! Despite the birds flying away the survivors didn't have time to understand where I was.

4: Moving the grass? Useless anyway, because the new maps bring more vegetation, which means that the survivor will become paranoid and will necessarily make the mistake of looking at the grass every time instead of his loop environment, and will scream at the nerve again for his own mistakes?

5 : Maps like LAB don't have grass...

6 : Nerve the Spirit = give her something in exchange...

7 : The sound bug... sometimes when I touch a survivor I can't hear his moaning anymore, even with Stridor... Sometimes when I touch a survivor I hear it again, and it happens to me very often and it's a serious disadvantage for the Spirit !

8: If the survivors can see the grass moving, why can't the Spirit see the survivors as well (like the auras)... well, that would be really fair!😀

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1659914#Comment_1659914

I'm afraid of nerves ! You can imagine, the survivors would be able to looper the Spirit so easily... They would be almost invincible ! I find the gameplay of the Spirit even more fun than that of the Nurse, because the Spirit is based on surprise... JUMPSCARE

Spine chill can counter the Spirit phase (of all stealth killers), it helps me a lot against it, especially during loops.

That is quite a long reply for what is just my thoughts, something that you did ask for. If you wanted an echo chamber, you should have just said so!

Now then, as for your points.

    1) Rank 1 is a different game to something like Rank 4! Rank 1 is content creators and people who play this game too much. I also never seek out a killer for a chase, they find me and engage me.

    2) I have a high end headset, a RIG 800-LX. I can hear Myers and Pig breathing in an opposite room, Wraith's elephant footsteps when nobody else can and I CAN'T HEAR SPIRIT PHASING IN HER TERROR RADIUS. There is no training against something I literally cannot do.

    3) Good for you! there is no way of proving that they're SWF. Your last sentence here also proves my point about information denial, and as a stealth killer main, THAT is saying something.

    4) Where did I recommend this? Nobody looks at grass anyway. Wraith, an invisible killer, still has a shimmer that is more recognisable at body height.

    5) Yeah, and?

    6) Like what.

    7) Add it to the list. Stop phasing when it happens.

    8) Well, you already have total sound, grass movement and scratch marks. What MORE do you want? Her not seeing Survivor auras is the biggest detriment to her power, but just use Stridor and it basically works the same way. Even then it isn't that big a disadvantage. As a whole, survivors literally get nothing.

Bonus round, since you also have another little piece there I would like to tackle:

    9) Spine Chill only states that you're looking at the survivor in question, nothing on direction. There is still no feedback on actually phasing or not. And this is coming from someone who almost never plays without it, too.

    10) She is still literally the only killer who can win a chase by literally doing nothing. You have done nothing to show me how winning while AFK is fine in this game. Dead by Daylight is the information given and how Survivors and Killers interact and that is the thing that the Spirit's power removes. Information and interraction.

    Nice try though.

  • I go sneaky because I can't run forever, but I can hide pretty well.

Detection perks and abilities are also the bane of a stealthy player's existence.

As for a 25 minute game, you wanna swap? I'll give you my 5min slaughters with DC's and people literally throwing themselves at my Piggy.

  • It's not what you use, it's how you use it.

Pig, you've been on these forums long enough to know arguing with some people is futile. They are running iron grasp, and clinging onto their points.

I'm going at these forums like I do the game, or Dark Souls. I'm going to keep banging my head against a wall until it breaks.

It worked for me getting to red ranks as a survivor!

  • Congrats! Now do it again.

As a fellow Xbox Doctor (2nd most played for me......) I can understand the frustration here. He is great fun though!

  • People DC against my PIG. PIG FFS!

But yeah, people think that he's a toxic pick currently because he is legitimately broken currently. The fact that you can cancel your power into a slash with no animation is outright busted.

Other than that, he's fine. I can think of several killers who need to be looked at after they fix Punishment.

  • Ok, so a few pointers here. Like ToxicMyers said above, they're being looked at which is great.

But. Keys. They actually require [Living survivors +1] COMPLETED GENERATORS which means that one of 3 things happen. Either the killer is losing so badly it doesn't matter, you've already closed hatch, or two of them pushed and got out after 3 generators were complete and it was a close match.

Mori's are totally busted and flat-out deny more of the game than keys. They need a serious look, or like I've suggested before, cancel all ranks for that game.

As for NoED, it is a team effort, but in my experience it's always the one who actually does the totems who gets punished, aka me. I can regularly do 3-4 without detection perks and still get done in by NoED.

  • I'm well aware, which is why I generally try not to contribute to the problem.

Only because Survivors (primarily) and the Devs FORCE you to have to play that way or not be rewarded for your time. Because they didn't want this game to be what they originally designed it to be after it was released. They decided: Nah, let's change it so it's '######### around with each other for a few minutes' instead of 'try to kill; try to live'.

You know that this is an issue for BOTH sides, right? And you're not at all forced to play that way. Just encouraged if you care about ranks or the grind. In a custom game, go nuts.

I've wondered before why my Pig, a killer who's apparently "low tier/bottom 5" is so effective. It's because I play the game as it wants to be played.

Don't shoot the messenger. I'm just sharing my finding.

Like I said I have wasted enough time for no progress. Reports at this point make zero difference. The company doesn't need you defending them there silence speaks volumes.

Maybe their silence is BECAUSE so many people are hating on them.

    Just a thought.

  • @CalamityJane said:

This is still looking at things through the veil of what you want the objective to be.

You say it's not just do gens and get kills because the emblem system exists to tell us that saving teammates and stalling the game and getting a lot of chases are also objectives.

Well you're still skimming the point that the system punisheds you for being efficient, not because it's a shortcoming of the system, but because that's the design.

The devs want you to play in a way which achieves your goal but is fun and fulfilling for all 5 players. Why is saving others and healing them rewarded? Because not getting people off the hook is really ######### for them. Why arey ou encouraged to get a lot of chases rather than chase an unhooked injured person and down them? Because it sucks to get tunneled. Their goal isn't a game where people show that Nurse can slug and get a 4k minutes into the game, it's one where the Nurse doesn't want to do that because she'll get ######### all bloodpoints that way.

The only one I agree with is that punishing killers for using their power when their power 1-hit-downs is ridiculous.

We are arguing the same point, but for different reasons.

We are both in agreeance that yes, the emblem system wants you to cover all aspects of the game and punishes raw efficiency because it is designed that way. What I'm arguing here is that it is a good thing and more players should be paying attention it, as it is more of a clearly defined win condition than something vague and exploitable like "X Kills" or "Escaping".

I didn't skim over being punished for efficiency as that is the entire point of this. You are being punished for focusing so hard on ONE OBJECTIVE OUT OF FOUR. Yes, it is what I did indeed call the "Ultimate Objective", but similar to something like LoZ: Breath of the Wild, you are highly encouraged to go and gather some gear before taking on Calamity Gannon to actually stand half a chance, the Emblem system encourages you to do well in all areas of the game.

Healing a teammate isn't just good because not doing it sucks for them, but they are also able to be a distraction for longer. THEY can occupy the killer with chases while you work on that generator and get it done. Later, you take the chase as they've had more hooks. You work as a team and are rewarded as a team.

Gen-rushing and killers going kill-crazy are something that gets complained on here a lot, so I've just gone "Here's a way to stop that, PLAY THE FULL GAME." It's like I said at the start, by focusing on the ultimate objective of kills or gens, we are literally ignoring so much of what this game is.

  • Ah, yes. My favourite Second Chance perks of BOND, SELF-CARE, SPRINT BURST AND SPINE CHILL.

Or my Kate build full of crutches. Dance with Me, Lithe, Q&Q all seem pretty crutch.

Even my now main of Yui only uses Decisive Strike after I've been tunnelled. Otherwise it's Lithe, Spine Chill, Resilience and Self-Care.

I've also seen more Cheryl players use some of the more crutch builds than I have someone like Kate. Bill is also up there considering that Borrowed Time and Unbreakable are two of his perks.

  • She is literally anti-game. Her entire power is based around the idea of removing information from the other side with little to no real loss of information for herself. This ENTIRE GAME is based on rhe information given and what you do with it.

You can also stand still and have it be just as effective as actually using your power. In other words you are rewarded for doing literally nothing.

  • @Ghoste said:

Nice write-up! But... Do people actually care about emblems? Rank means nothing to me personally. All of this doesn't apply if your goal is to escape or 4k.

Like them or not, they are our current system and I think that they're important because they cover ALL aspects of the game.

Part of this is to also share that there is more to this game than escaping or a 4k. When I play a normal game as survivor, I can double pip even though I died. I did my job and was rewarded for it. In an SWF, then gens pop quickly, we all escape but there were hardly any downs and hooks. I've also had a 1k where I got Merciless as Legion, proving that kills aren't everything.

Like them or not, same with rankings, you are still forsaking a large portion of the game if escapes and kills are literally the only things you strive for.

  • @KingFrost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1657926#Comment_1657926

Or, and hear me out -- you go and get into a new chase and down another survivor because kicking a gen on the other side of the map is a poor use of time. Best way to defend gens is hook survivors. It takes more people off of generators, and as soon as one kicks the bucket the game slows down immensely.

    So does slugging.

Like I said, by not kicking generators you are sacrificing Gatekeeper.

The whole point of this entire thread is that the mentality you are proposing literally deprives all sides of their emblems and a large portion of mechanical counterplay!

If you force a survivor off that generator while it's regressing, that's more time you have later. If they start tapping gens, then run Surveillance or Overcharge! I can't tell you how many times forcing a far-off survivor off their generator has helped me.

While I don't care much about the nerf to Pop, I disagree with your opinion on DS.

Almo's description of why they nerfed Pop is the exact issue with DS currently. It was a perfect response in my opinion.

DS Itself is fine. It's how people use it that's currently the issue.

I don't think it needs changing.

  • At this point, I'd remake the game from the ground up. Same mechanics and all that, but re-code the game to clean up the spaghetti.

Then I'd look at making the stealth killers stronger as the concept of a killer's position being unknown is much scarier.

Maybe also have a customisation option in Custom Games so the community can experiment with perk and killer stat values to get a better idea of balancing.

  • About Pop lasting too long so they reduced it to 45 seconds as killers were able to chase and down someone before using Pop, then some bright sparks had the inevitable 'Just like Decisive Strike?" argument-but-not-really.

They’re specifically talking about Thana+DL on Plague, making The Obsessions boost to altruism redundant.

I wasn't strictly. I mentioned Plague because her vomit always keeps survivors Broken unless they cleanse, nullifying altruism anyway, and Legion as people either heal and make the fame last forever or stay injured and are always easier to down.

It was that the killers who WANT those perks don't care about healing.

  • @CalamityJane said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1657973#Comment_1657973

You're forgetting that DL gives a survivor an insane healing speed boost,so your thana is going to do almost nothing all game when you run them together now.

I've forgotten nothing. I'm aware that DL gives an Altruism bonus, but it also wasn't the main point.

If you also put it on Plague, there is quite literally no downside.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1657947#Comment_1657947

Yes like BBQ and Chilli? I wasn't implying that was a bad thing

My point was that people are acting like the healing on slugged survivors isn't that good and it is, very good.

Well, after the DS/Pop comments with a similar thing I thought it's only fair to pull them same when the roles are reversed.

  • 1 View, no comments, no upvotes.

    ;_;

  • They're also forgetting that you can easily stack it with Dying Light and a killer like Legion or Plague who basically always have everyone injured. Forever Freddy didn't care that Thanataphobia was ONLY 4%, but when you stacked them all together, with Dying Light, Swinging Chains and Jump Rope, it was literally impossible for Survivors to accomplish anything against a competent killer.

  • It's 12:30pm for me, because I'm in Australia. I start 1pm.

Most of the time I post full threads, it's about 2am and I'm about to go to bed.

  • Change it to those that are cleansing totems and the problem should be fixed. They can still be obscured by objects like Generators or other survivor Auras.

  • @bubbabrotha said:

Could you add a TL;DR? If not, fine, but I'm pretty tired lol

Gotta go for work in 15, and I also don't use them so people actually read the full thing.

Basically it's a case of if you rush one of you ultimate objectives (Generators or Kills) you are sacrificing at least two emblems, and a majority of what the game has to offer. This goes for both sides. Gen-rushers, Campers and Tunnellers deny Chaser/Malicious, Benevolent/Evader with middling Lightbringer. Killers who are "super efficient" deny less Benevolent and Evader, but are still hindered as two health states are more ideal for emblems. Billy, Bubba, Plague and any Exposed effects are also terrible as they halve Chaser and Malicious.

If we slow the game, and go for all four of our emblems, then there will be way less problems.

  • @Blueberry said:

I wouldn't mind if it gave stacks for picking people up off the ground. Would be some extra encouragement when running the perk.

I'll also say that people are vastly underestimating 100% heal speed on slugged survivors, that is insanely strong. I would run that even if it didn't have a BP component on it. Might even be too strong honestly.

    Like BBq & Chilli?

But yeah, back on topic. WGLF is a perk that I went with instantly after Dead Hard when I created an extra account to play with a mate who almost never plays. Since I've held red rank for a while, I'm not only a more skilled survivor than a majority of what you'd face at those ranks, so going for those saves for extra BP is better for me as I'm less likely to be caught and hooked.

  • Depends on what you want. I normally run Self-Care in order to heal up and have two health states, but on an alternate account I have been running Iron Will in lower ranks, with Resilience/Spine Chill/Botany Knowledge and it's actually been really fun and surprisingly effective.

  • @KingFrost said:

Best way to defend generators? Kill a survivor.

    @GoodBoyKaru is right.

It's also why I suggested the one tactical slug with 4 alive, and literally an explanation of how that goes down. Like I also said, I'm that weirdo that usually runs Surveillance, so kicking a generator and having survivors freak out while I return silently is actually extremely beneficial to me.

If you tunnel or camp out one survivor, you have two or three literally with nothing to do but generators. It is literally more beneficial for both sides for you to literally walk to the other side of the map and kick the furthest generator even if you're playing someone like Trapper or even Deathslinger in terms of the emblem system.

  • I'm not mad at them. I'm just disappointed in them.

The sad thing was, she was completely healthy. She was in her 80's but she acted like she was in her 50's.

It wasn't dragged out like with my grandmother. The day I heard about it, it was when my mum said that the call to my dad was "get here now to say your goodbyes." She was still clinically alive for another two weeks until they cut the machines off.

I would have rathered it that day.

Sounds like she was at least having fun up until the end! Still getting out there and doing something and not stuck in a bed unable to move without help. You didn't see her being kept alive by machines, and that's a rare thing. No pain, no torment, no longing. Just peace.

I am really terrible at this comforting thing.

  • At least she died peacefully. She will no longer suffer either.

My mother works in an aged care facility, and after seeing the state of some of those residents, all I can say is that death is a blessing for some of them as what they have is not life. Not really.

One of my grandmothers went about 2 years ago, due to multiple organ failure, and seeing my dad rush an hour and a half's drive away all the time to be with her, his siblings and his dad to then come home and look so exhausted was rough. My work colleagues were getting worried for me with how bad I was starting to sound, and I can handle quite a bit emotionally!

The advice I can give from my own experiences is to just keep looking forward. Carry the memories of her with you, but don't let them weigh you down.

  • I much prefer solo-queue than SWF because I generally get to do more in a match. If we're all of equal rank (great joke, I know......) then I'll have a longer and more involved match in solo-queue than in SWF. Usually more deaths, but as long as I do well enough to not de-pip then I'm fine.

De-pips for me aren't usually a lack of my skill either. The times that I do are genuinely because the killer doesn't feel like playing the game at all and face-camps or tunnels me into oblivion, or they're some tryhard Rank 1 against an all purple team with a green that goes ham with a killer like Oni with Infectious and 4-Man slugs. Also the type to then complain about DS/UB when they won't take the time to have an actual game. Just saying.

  • @Skelemania said:

I only play solo queue & it's fine.

I will say, console players are... You can definitely tell that they play differently. Even at red ranks. A lot more stealth. They dive bomb hooks. They always run & never heal or stay to get healed - even if you're running we'll make it.

I actually had to disable crossplay because they're so...not my playstyle. Even with longer queues, it's worth it.

I heal. I stay to get healed. I'm on console. The only time I run off is if Spine Chill is active.

As a whole, console players are just more deliberate than PC players, they're more cautious and less likely to take a risk unless they feel like there is no choice. As for healing, if it's right after a hook the general mentality is "don't stick around, the killer'll probably come back here."

  • Monto JUST did a video on this, and yes. No I can't send a link because this comment was done on mobile.

  • I'm assuming you mean "rank" and not "level".

I also agree. After staying in ranks 5-3 for a few months, I've switched to an alternate account to de-rank over time because I'm so tired of versing sweatlord rank 1's with teams all ranging of all purples.

The worst part is that there isn't even an achievement for reaching rank 1 on console as far as I know.

  • Walk away and I won't Kobe in your face then!

Yeah, I always thought Escape (the Pina Colada Song) was pretty shady. Rather than talk with each other about things they were interested in to improve the relationship, they both took out personal ads for some side action. I am pretty sure neither of them would have been thrilled when they went to the bar to meet their hookup and discovered the other half was trying to do them dirty like that....

She sent the ad out, he responded.

My dad thinks it's this beautiful live song because "They're learning new things about each other!" and my mum and I are like:

People's obvious personal biases aside though, this is true for ANY part of the game. People who play both sides not only know the struggles of both, but CAN compare them and make appropriate calls.

Sadly though, there are people who then call them "entitled [other side] mains" for pointing out the other side of the story.
