kekked on that freddy
Now, I think that you and @BaldursGate2 have overlooked something within my comment. I said TYPE of skill. Not how much.
-
It depends on what we define as "skill". Killers like Trapper and Hag derive most of their skill from map knowledge and where to place traps, controlling Survivors. Killers like Clown and Deathslinger tend to have more skill in the chase, with their power easily shutting down loops.
Then you have killers like Pig, Freddy and Demogorgon. These killers require the user to be skilled in every area of the game. They borrow from the Chase and Control schools of Killer gameplay. So arguably hybrid killers.

How the hell does Bubba or any killer for that matter "promote" camping. That's nothing to do with the characters it's the players who can't play them right, bubba is fine. He's to counter huge groups of survivors zerg rising an objective that other killers just can't stop.
An area of effect instant-down on a killer with no mobility or map pressure options. How does that NOT promote camping?
And again. Antithesis of everything a Pig main enjoys.
-
Surveillance. It gives you SO MUCH information! And survivors never expect it!
-
Go to the DbD support with as many details as possible even video if you had recorded it.
They are literally holding the game hostage and that,xs a bannable offence.
-
No exhaustion perks from any of them.
Two DS users total. No Adrenaline.
Wow. They did alright.
-
I love Surveillance and I reckon that it's one of the most underrated perks in the game as no survivors expect it.
Thing is though that you need to be kicking generators if Ruin goes down, or even more than usual if you're running Pop. Not necessarily a bad thing if the survivors don't recognise what's going on.
Better than Discordance in my opinion!

I see. Thanks for the answer =)
It kinda proofs my point of pig being broken. Basically all addons do something with this box mechanic but when you need specifically 2 of them plus large map and luck with survivors finishing a gen before unhook then this system is just broken and all these addons are good for nothing. Hence why you don't need addons.
This is very disappointing. While reading the addon descriptions it sounds like they would allow to go for specific tactics or playstyles, but are actually worthless.
My playstyle on nearly every killer is to prolong the match as far as possible and chase the players across the map. By the time it is over i could slap 3 bear traps on the same survivor. This doesn't realy do anything for me.
Pig is PERFECT for stalling games!
If I get back to streaming soon, I can do a Pig game and show you what I mean. It's also been confirmed that the Devs are going to be changing a majority of Pig's add-ons.
I don't use add-ons because I'm always low on the ones I WANT to use.

The argument "Globe Icon does not have to mean Console" does not really work. It works for Console players when they see a Globe, because it can be another Console Player on a different Console OR a PC-Player. But when it comes to PC-Players, it is very likely that a Globe means it is a Console-Player. Since Crossplay between Windows Store and Steam was enabled I have seen like 3 Windows Store-Players.
Of course this does not mean that Console Players DC more often than PC-Players, I have not seen that so far. But a Globe for a PC-Player will mean that it is a player from Console in 99,99% of all cases.
It is a possibility still, and that was the point.

Here we go.
You know that the globe icon also means Windows Store users too, right? I'm also an Xbox player, and I've seen more disconnects from globe icons than I have on Xbox in general.
We've also been trying to end the stupid PC vs. Console wars on here because, surprise surprise, it was proven that PC players aren't as high and mighty as a lot of them made themselves seem!

Can you tell me how to get the traps working? I would like to play pig but i feel like no matter the build, strat or addons, i can not get any kills from traps. I was trying to be "toxic" and slap excessive skill checks + unnerving on while just standing next to survivors on boxes, but not even that worked. She feels utterly broken. Why did u main her? Have i missed something?
She's fun and I'm in no way a red ranked killer. I'm also a SAW fanatic.
As for her traps, your issue seems to be seeing them as a tool for lethality. They are used for stall. By placing a trap on a survivor's head, you know that they are now going to be so occupied removing that trap that they will be in one of four places. Bad Pigs will see this as a sign for easy kills, good Pigs know that the survivor is essentially removed from the match, or has a death wish.
Activating the trap is simple: a generator is completed while the RBT is on a survivor. It's timer pauses while said survivor is being chased, dying or on a hook.
Without add-ons there are 4 (can be moified to 2-6) boxes, and the timer is 2:30 base (can be modifed to 2:00-2:50).
Perks that affect skill-checks such as Unnerving Presence do not work with the Jigsaw boxes. Excessive skill-checks are also bad as the Great result is part of the skill check, and can lead to the traps being removed quicker.
If you want to pop heads, then what you need for the best chances of doing so are the add-ons Tampered Timer (-30 seconds) and Crate of Gears (faster placement, slower box searches) with a large map. One of the Red Forest offerings should help. Place the trap and hope that the survivors finish a generator before the survivor is unhooked, they don't get it off in the first two boxes and maybe even slug them once but ONLY, and I cannot stress this enough, ONLY if you naturally run into them.
Your best builds are generally ones with detection and slowdown. I like Ruin/Surveillance/Nurse's/BBq, and I generally don't need add-ons. I prefer the Video Tape and Combat Straps, but the Gears and Last Will are also pretty good. A lot of people will also suggest using Monitor & Abuse with Whispers so you can get closer before crouching, but it's never been my style.
-
After seeing Otz pull off the weird attack the devs are trying to remove, I can see why they are doing so. Luckily that's ALL they seem to be doing.

I play pig, put a trap on a guy and tunnel him all game with rancor, and so what? Other 3 guys can go, right? They still can escape, so its fair right? Insidious, anti-exhaustion add-on, Bamboozle and Spirit Fury for a suprise stab doesnt count, right? Its still balanced af. Im still a good person. :^)
EDIT: if they dont get rekt by NOED or Blood Warden at the end. Ok, then Im a bit bad and it can look a little broken. It doesnt happen every game tho.
As A Pig main, this hurts. Trap tunnellers are the worst kind of Pig players.

But tunneling is just the killer doing his objective. What else is he supposed to do? He has no secondary objective like survivors do.
Each side has 4 objectives. They happen to be called the Emblems.

Maybe but it’s not really those players fault there isn’t a balanced win condition so anything goes 🤷🏻♀️
If they go into a match with the intention of screwing over four other people deliberately, then yes it is their fault. Vague win conditions or not.

I think this is a good moment to nerf DS hard. Since its used in every match and its frustrating for new players.
Compromise: Make tunnelling near impossible or bannable. It's also frustrating for new players.

Fair enough
But it would be better then saying what the dev's did
"Heres some stats... but dont read into them... they suck"
If they want, they can give it all to me and my habit of over-analysis. I'll take it as a challenge while I paint more of my way-too-many 40k miniatures!
-
@RizeAki said:
So mostly likely those guys you meet are doing it for the meme. They don’t always play like that or else you wouldn’t see them in red ranks. Doing that won’t let you pip unless survivors bum rush basement
Sadly no. There are people who don't give a damn about rank, but do about those skulls at the endscreen and frankly don't care about concepts like "community health" or "people wanting to play again because you weren't a total d*ck to them". I have a special type of hatred for those people.
-
Spine Chill or Self-Care.
Good detection to supplement my own eyes and ears, even if one of my brothers always says "JuSt UsE yOuR eYeS!" Yes. I'll do that on an INDOOR MAP AGAINST A STEALTH KILLER, GENIUS! And people are unreliable as a whole, med-kits have limited charges and Inner Strength relies on me finding totems. Think of Self-Care as a perk to say "Fine. I'll do it myself."

And yet killers rarely tunnel these days and DS is still meta. Funny that.
People don't run second chances because of mean nasty killers, they run them because they are strong. And there's nothing wrong with that, so long as people recognise what they are doing. The problem is the excuse of "it's all the other side's fault," which this thread seems to be drenched in, which creates the whole "it's your fault that I am immortal by jumping in a locker and you should be ashamed of yourself" situation.
Ironically I see less times where a DS could have gone off in lower ranks, where nobody runs it.
I also never stated that one side is purely at fault. While I do believe that multiple people, myself included and someone who plays both sides of the game, have been somewhat forced towards perks like DS in order to deal with legitimate tunnellers, it's the people who kept them and found more creative ways to use these perks that are now making problems for everyone else.
I've recognised that there are people who legitimately use these perks in order to screw over killers, and I've had people attempt it to me. I will never deny that. To help alleviate these problems, I've even written a guide on how I deal with these perks, but I got laughed at. Just because I'm not Otz, Tru3 or ScottJund doesn't mean that I can't actually be right on an issue.
The only thing that would have tilted my comment to the "X side started it all" would be the implication that killers tunnelled and forced DS, which they did. Tunnelling has been around since day one from what I've heard. The devs allow it, and we as a community don't stand united against them, so yes. Ultimately it is the fault of a few killers that things have spiralled out of control, or the devs to allow a "strategy" that is essentially griefing.
While I disagree with the idea of locker grabs forcing DS, if you're going after a survivor that you know has been unhooked recently, that is still on you as the killer, and I also sincerely doubt that someone can hook all four survivors, one after another, and still get hit by DS unless they're basically farming for it to happen.
One of the benefits of playing Pig is that I usually have a very clear indication on who to target next.

Hemorrhage isn't terrible if you combine it with Bloodhound lol. With this way of thinking the game is what it is now. A joke. I mean... Do you use bloodhound? Its like complaining about iri heads on huntress, but you see them 1 of 50 matches.
And no, this is not another reason to use the chainsaw. Its a consequence of being hit with it. So being hit with a chainsaw and a lego knife (legion) is the same to you?
Consequences for them ONLY using their power? Yeah, sure. Ok. I'M the one joking.
And Iridescent Heads are actually a problem, especially when combined with Infantry Belt. The fact that they still apply at point blank range is the biggest issue there is. Deathslinger's equivalent has a minimum range requirement!
-
Sure, because those two need ANOTHER reason to exclusively use their chainsaws.
Personal hatreds aside, Hemorrhage isn't terrible and of you combine it with Bloodhound, then that's a pretty good way to track. As for Mangled, I don't like it. Unbreakable is a one-time thing and for Soul Guard, you have to be running an active Hex perk. While it is still active.
As for the add-ons, we already have that for a lot of killers and their powers.

dunno how many times I have to explain this to people. if a bubba is facecamping he can never pip. Facecamping a survivor to death won't even get you a safety pip 90% of the time and unless you were dumb enough to run into basement without a plan against a bubba he can't facecamp 2 people at once
Here's the thing though. WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO SIT THROUGH THAT? If a Bubba doesn't want to play the game for more than 30 seconds, then they should just get off!
There is no reason to drag 4 other people in to your desire to play in the most infuriating and miserable way possible.
It may be because Bubba is literally the antithesis of everything that I hold dear as a Pig main, but to me Bubba is literally a case study in everything that could be wrong in killer design. He promotes one of the most toxic strategies in the game, has nothing outside of an instant-down in an AoE attack and the only redeeming quality is the teachable perks, but since the Shrine of Secrets exists, that point is basically null.

@Boss said:
The common use for doing the struggle is to warn that the Killer is nearby.
Doing nothing IS the way to tell you that it's safe.
At least that's how it started, after a year or so, people started mixing it up.
Flailing is usually a sign of camping. Almost attempting is usually "NOBODY'S COMING MORONS, GET ME OFF NOW." Or at least that's what I've been told.
-
It stops all auras, but the perks Spine Chill and Object of Obsession still light up on the survivor's perk list when they are activated.
-
I'm at a loss for words. She's considered one of the weakest killers in the game, and people find her toxic? I know that trap tunnellers are an issue, but still.
That's.....
Wow.
-
They said that BEFORE everyone started consistently tunnelling and DS/UB became the meta thing.
-
A necessary evil of playing this game. If the devs allow the hardcore targeting and removal of specific players within a match, then people are going to use a perk or item to prevent that.
-
Tunnelling is borderline griefing. You are targeting one specific player in order to make them miserable and ruin their gaming experience.
As a tactic, it is understandable but survivors are also prone to outright ignoring someone if they're tunnelled into their second hook, which can affect the match in leading to the infamous gen-rush.
I also find it more effective and enjoyable for them to all lose it as they all start dying at the same time.
-
I've stopped using them for a while now at all ranks across my 3 accounts because I always have worse games when I do ironically.
-
Killers tunnel, Survivors equip DS. Natural response.
Killers slug for DS, Survivors equip Unbreakable.
Killers wait out the slug, Survivors now have Soul Guard.
And I am in no way saying that ALL killers do this, as I for one NEVER do any if this. Just that enough have done this to make these builds permanent.
@Godot said:
What about Killers who use meta perks, an Ebony Mori and end the game within 5 minutes, forcing Survivors to literally DC because of how overpowered they are?
Yes yes, I don't care about whataboutism. Shut up.
You're right though. Why should I play fair of a meta-hu...... hugging Oni slugs everyone in Blood Fury because M&A/IF at 5 GENS LEFT?
I had a game where I was playing Pig with my usual build of Ruin/Surveillance/Nurse's/BBq with a Last Will and Blindness for some spice. Mother's Dwelling. No tunnelling and slight patrolling at the end with two people.
Didn't SEE anyone until the first generator had popped, and the first death was at 2 left. I spread hooks for a reason. 2 left, 3 dead and hatch closed. Last one got to a gate.
It was long, it was tense and it was GREAT. The two survivors I messages after said that they had a great time with it too.
-
Lithe.
-
So, kills are what is classed as your "Ultimate objective", in the same way that escaping is the ultimate objective of a Survivor.
It is a goal to work towards but it is not the only one for you to achieve.
Your four goals as killer are as follows:
- Stop generators and exit gates from powering. This is arguably the most important one.
- HOOK Survivors and kill them.
- Hit survivors and inflict pain.
- Start and win chases.
This is why the act of slugging one person is so effective for the emblem system. You have won a chase, inflicted pain and now at least one survivor is not on a generator with another one possibly having to come and get them up. 3/4 objectives done.
-
Disagree as that can be quite easily farmed and because we already have the 3 hooks for an immediate death.
If you are slugging them with No Mither, then their escape is on you.

Yeah cause right now litteraly a survivor can search one box and almost always get it taken off. In my opinion she needs a full on rework instead of just an add on
She DOESN'T need a full rework, but there are certain limits that should be lifted. Unfortunately one of the ones I'd suggest has already been made impossible.
-
If my theory is to be believed, ALL of them are.
-
Half the time you had Pop, you didn't use it. Also, that first gen you had a free kick but didn't.
Early chases were too long too. Either commit to one part and force them to another loop or even take the pallet out too so other cases can't utilise them.
-
Well, majority of the killer issues can be solved with the "Because Entity" argument. And Huntress is SWOL. Like, she dummy buff. Puts me to shame.
If this game was realistic as well, Clown would have a heart attack mid-match, David King could fight off the Legion with a maybe exception to Joe and everyone's most likely die in one hit. I mean, look at the original opening scene with Trapper.
-
Demo has them for literally anything. Hearing it roar every 5 seconds actually makes me feel SAFE to go and do stuff because I know that it ISN'T NEAR ME.
-
Sometimes I'll do it ONCE to an annoying survivor, as in a pallet flashligher, but that's it.
"Treat others as you wish to be treated" is a phrase that I commonly follow.
-
GF is sneaky, so GF there.
Huntress. She has range.
Powers not considered? Lore only? Freddy beats EVERYONE then. He IS the power!

If you really just want to rank up and take advantage of the emblem system, play Legion. He's really easy to rank up with and is definitely playable on console. Just be really careful with your first frenzy hit because of all of the spins. Getting knocked out of your power for a miss on the first swing is ridiculously punishing
3rd most played killer for me. Played a game but was 1 off Merciless.

So did you rank up? If not, then try again, but this time try to kick gens a bunch of times as well as use your power too. Try to hook survivors many times until they die, kick a bunch of gens, and use your power as much as you can without losing too much pressure (so you should do things like snare spamming). Just remember, the ranking system SUCKS, like really badly right now so it might take you a few times before your get it. DC's can also hinder it entirely if it happens at all at any point in the match too. Getting 4k's consistently will also help you rank up fast. But you have to get them for most of your games.
Funny thing is that I did all that, double-pipped and I actually like the emblem system.
It's been around since I started in Darkness Among Us. My highest ranks are 3 on Surv and 7 on Killer. I just got caught up doing other things and my rank decayed.
