Im unsure if youre being sarcastic or memeing but isnt the game not supposed to be 1v1? And if it isnt, Shouldnt the killer be strongest in a 1v1 but weaker in a 4v1?
Deathslinger is strong in a 1v1, but at least with him I can understand and see how I was beaten.
Spirit just appears. There is no way of telling what she's doing.

That might come from adding the unexpected. The start of any game is a little unnerving, not knowing who the killer is. Yet once that aspect is discovered the game takes on familiarity and the sense of fear goes.
I agree interraction is important. In fact, it's key since no matter how scary any game is, the experience of the player is what's most important. You could have the best graphics ever, but if the player's not into it then it loses any sense of fear.
The game could benefit from various random game modes, more randomization of maps and map tiles, a more powerful killer and a sense of urgency. Probably more if I think of any. But the sense of immersion and the unexpected is certainly a big factor in bringing fear back.
Spot on! As soon as the match starts, if I hear a chainsaw, Static Blast or a tear in reality, I know EXACTLY who the killer is and how to counter them.
The scariest games for me are when I DON'T interract with the killer for the first 4 minutes and two generators pop with no indication to who it is.

What about the people you're going against who have no chance against you and and whom you're basically toying with? It's bad enough that those players are in red ranks, but deliberately choosing to play against them? How do you think it makes them feel to know that even if they win it's because you took pity on them?
DbD may be a casual game, but that's not a feeling that ever lessens because of that. Good players should be stuck with good players, for better or for worse.
Well, I'm not going back to Rank 20. And I literally can't compete against Rank 1 killers with teams all Rank 5 or less, but I can safety pip. It sucks and I've had enough.
I'm also attempting to get to Purple with only Claudette and Jake. No Exhaustion perk at all. Currently also levelling up Adam for something different as well, try some new stuff.
My main strength is stealth, and it isn't 100% reliable. Iron Will is FANTASTIC for loosing people in a chase, but if they have line of sight, it's useless.
As for killer, I just don't devote enough time to it for my rank to reflect my skill level. And I admit that I need to play more killer. But half the characters I have levelled are all at lv.1/2 perks across the board.
-
Half of them are playing Spirit now because she's the strongest killer that you can play braindead. Jumped ship as soon as they heard "Overheat" as "nerf".
-
Trying to make the community realise that we are half the issue.
Work's moving close to Summer and Xmas. What a greaaaaat time to be working is Aus liquor!
Painting a Lord of Change for my Tzeentch Daemons, but that boi swol. It's gonna take a while. Especially when I'm trying to work 4 different blues on it with fades and shading. Stabbed myself with a scalpel cutting out parts for it. It's fine now.

That is correct Professor PigMainClaudette! Great analysis!
Then heed my warning carefully;
If you do this, you are hurting more people than the survivors you do this to. Those survivors will move to the perks that infuriate killers, OTHER killers. People have a hard enough time dealing DS abusers, BT bodyblockers, and gen-rush hit squads.
Your actions will continue to promote this.
Cease now and break the cycle.
-
So, you're going to perpetuate the cycle of hate between killers and survivors and reinforce the current meta because you don't like taunts designed to annoy you and grab your attention, punishing a whole team for the actions of potentially ONE of them?
Sure. I don't see anything wrong with that at all.
-
"I realised that what's wrong with DbD is the community"
I've been saying that for a while!
As for the emblem system, I much prefer it to straight kills. If you play your cards right, it's very easy to rank up as a killer.

It is equally both. Matchmaking should never match low skill players versus high skill players. Players, Killers nor Survivors, should be able to de-rank more than 4 ranks from their highest. I would go so far as to say that ranking should also take into account the amount of time someone has invested into the game.
So, what about people who leave the game for a few months? Or people like me who don't want to be anywhere near Red ranks any more because of the sweat?
-
This seems more like a matchmaking issue than smurfing. I have smurf accounts, but one's for the Rank 20 friend I rarely play with and the other is because I'm bored of getting smashed by rank 1's against teams that are at 5 or less.
If they are a true smurf account, then they generally have weaker perks due to not having teachables available.
-

it seems like he wasn’t mad but realized what your plan was and adjusted accordingly. I’m guessing here I wasn’t there and this is from your perspective.
To a degree, yes, but unless the entire team was doing it, that's a total overreaction. I've had people sabo in front of me, and tbh I just went for them for the next hook. They're right in front of me and taking away hook states is more likely to get them to stop as they now have less chance of recovery.
-
Dropping a Survivor because of a Sabo is a smart move. Slugging EVERYONE because of one sabo?
Yikes.

Which makes red unbalanced as ######### and because of the massive power disparity between killers its gonna be hard to balance the core game mechanics before buff/nerfing killers
Highest ranks are ALWAYS going to be unbalanced because those players will ALWAYS gravitate towards the strongest options available and it becomes a never ending cycle.
Should we balance more around higher players? Sure. But not the whole game around Red ranks. I'm leaving them for a reason.

I mean if you play toxic towards me i can just make sure you die, aka face camping with michael while holding stalk, which makes people think im waiting to grab thn i pop tier 3 and slug
Well, like I said. It was about mutual respect.
If one side throws out manners, then I don't see why the other wouldn't.

Yeah. I thought it was Green-Purple.
-
On the forums it's a term to shut down discussion.
For some players, it's a way to demean and belittle other players.
For sensible people it's "Don't be a colossal douche to me, because I'm not to you. Please" type of deal.

You can't expect the community to abide by a certain set of rules just because the devs won't balance their game properly.
This is a game development issue 100%
Is it though?
And I never said anything about "rules", so nice putting words in my mouth. I mentioned certain playstyles, mindsets and always using the top stuff. That was it.
@ToxicMyers said:

Or hear me out now, they change the game where rank 8 to 1 is balanced, and rank 20-9 is a learning process to learn the game. Maybe like perks have different effects at different ranks. This could be adapted for mmr too
I thought it was already balanced around the sort of 10-5 area......
As in decent players, but not just the top.
-
Top level players always use the best options available to them. They essentially use all of about 5% of what the game has to offer.
Mid ranks have WAY more players and they're more likely to use a wider variety of perks and killers. Catering to a larger audience is always the better option too.
As for the weird builds, there are basically 3 types of people who hold Rank 1:
- The Tryhards: People who must win at all costs, and are likely to 4-man slug, tunnel, camp, gen-rush, infinite loop and all that fun stuff everyone complains about because "much win".
- Don't Care Anymore: These players have a simple mentality of "I reached Rank 1, I can now run whatever I want and not care." This is where you get more meme builds that don't make much sense without explanation.
- Content Creators: Streamers and Youtubers who play the game so much because they are making content that they naturally stay in the highest ranks.
None of these fit the "average" player at all. I'm more of an average player, and I CAN hold rank 3-5, but I've versed so many tryhard sweatlords that I'm actively dripping my rank now to get away from them.
Maybe it isn't the devs who need to change the game, but the community that needs to change it's mindset.
-
Well, the spaghetti code issue is simple. Just re-do the game from the ground up, then half the bugs will most likely go with them.
As for other game modes, yes it would divide the playerbase, but there are issues with something like a 2:8 such as killer synergies, perk pools for Hexes, mori offerings, bodyblocking issues.......

Fear of the unknown still exists within perks, add-ons, and the killer's decision-making, but overall I just think it's kind of weak.
Not always. Perks like Ruin are blatantly obvious, and even some of the more hidden ones are easy to figure out. Yellow generator aura? Probably Trail of Torment. Killer find you while you're healing? Probably Nurse's.
Even add-ons like Iridescent Queen or Flask of Bleach reveal themselves when applied.
It's not so much that the unknown is weak, but rather that it's easy to figure out.
-
Well, fear of the unknown is the most powerful type of fear, but we all cancel that by playing repeatedly.
Paranoia and hope are our only other options. Camping, tunnelling and NoED all give a sense of dread, rather than fear.
Honestly, good stealth killers/builds playing "fair" is the scariest thing in this game.
-
When you load into a lobby, check the small coloured bar in the bottom right above the "Readied" status. If it's green then you're clear. Yellow is generally fine and red is check your internet.
-
Sidney Prescott from Scream. This game is suck a joke anyway!
KIDDING!
Well, I do want Sidney in here though. Maybe have her introduce some advanced perks that really mess with a killer, such as delaying aura reveals.
-
No. It's the exposure thing.
I did already make a thread about why that is the case too.
-
Iron Will, Decisive Strike, No Mither and Dead Hard. Keep playing until you get out.
Worst comes to worst, I can try to help you if you need and I have time. I'm also an Xbox player, but as RespectfulNancyMain and I have found out, region is important for lag. I'm on Aus Sydney servers.

Yeah it is true.
I usually play at rank 1, but after a couple of resets, I have been trying to get good with survivor, I just wanted some quick pips.
Also in my time as survivor I have learned many killers will just take advantage of a situation like that , which greatly increases their odds of winning.
Those types of killers seem rather insecure or bloodthirsty to me.
It's also as @MadLordJack said above. There's winning, but there's also the fact that this is still a game. We play for fun, and for me at least, the hunt is way more thrilling than the kill.
-
I'd just leave. Especially with that build.
I've also found that you can still play nice, but still play hard and you rank up rather quickly still.
-
Physical age does not equal mental age. My work proves that DAILY.
-
I think that it is ultimately up to the killer to punish bad unhooks, but not by targeting the one being unhooked.
Instead, go after the one who unhook and PUNISH THEM for their mistake.

Hi Salty AF, I'm DFP! :p
Alright, bad joke aside, I'm with ya. Being able to have more than one contextual button or just a way to flick from one available action to another would be super helpful to both sides, though I can see it being super buggy on release with what actions take... precedence? over another. ._.'
YOU STOLE MY JOKE.
-
RS2 base is a terrible idea. It forces survivors towards generators.
I like the idea of the first box not having the key as it is now guaranteed time for the Pig.
Hatch activating traps isn't really necessary but I do like it. As an experienced Pig though, if someone has a trap and you close hatch, you're doing it wrong.
Super in need of changing half the add-ons, but other than that it's small number tweaks to her base kit that's needed.

how can you make a free smurf? I don't want to buy the game and then the DLCs again because i need some perks. That's what holding me back.
Easy. Xbox profiles are free and once the game and DLC are in the console, it's there for everyone.
I'm the one that buys the games a day DLC, but I have two brothers I share them with.

Actually finished BNA on Netflix recently. Decent show.
Also love Seven Deadly Sins from them too. Hellsing Ultimate will always be a favourite though. Quite enjoy Overlord too.
For something a little lighter, I did enjoy Plastic Memories, even if a more emotional person would burst into tears.
Still watching JoJo's Bizzare Adventure. Just finished Part 3, or at least the first half. For anyone who knows the show, they've just arrived to Egypt.
Death Note is also great.
Code Geass is another top pick for me, but much like Black Lagoon, watch the Dub. The dub of Code Geass was just better than the sub.
Party and Stocking with Garterbelt is also great and both sub and dub are worth it. Yes it is a real series.

That sounds like another example of a poorly thought out port. On PC ever since they nerfed ruin survivors dont need to hit great skill checks to finish a gen now. It's why I hate investing the time to learn something and then the devs make it irrelevant.
It depends on a lot of factors. The fact that I commonly have to contend with at least 3 other devices in the same wifi, one of which is running Netflix, on Aus NBN, really doesn't help my console.
I'm sure that there were/are people who can 100% hit Greats on their console, but most of us console players are to casual to dedicate that much to it.
-
@EvilJoshy said:
I blame the ruin nerf. Ever since that change I'm seeing higher ranked survivors who can't hit great skill checks or they can't even loop.
Disagree as a console player. Hitting a "Great" result for us is like rolling a set of dice half the time.
-
As a fellow Xbox player, all I can say is that if you want to learn a new killer, either wait to de-rank or make a free smurf to practice.
I have 3 accounts!

Me and a hook.

I'd argue current Freddy, Demo, Plague, Oni, Deathslinger and Blight are better than Pig, personally.
- Freddy has insane map control and a bullshit chase power
- Demo has similar map control to Freddy, and a much more balanced chase power that's easily-executable
- Plague is either a perma-T3 Myers or a 115 Huntress, depending on how survivors play
- Oni is Oni
- Blight has the perfect balance of map control and chase
Not denying that! It's just that I was taking a sledgehammer to BestGame's little theory/statement that killers you rarely see are "bad".
Nurse is almost never played, yet is always considered to be the top killer in the game, after all.

Who in the cinnamon toast ######### cares what build he's using? Are we seriously perk shaming now? This thread isn't about ruin and pop.
Before any of you call me biased, perk shaming survivors for using DS and unbreakable is wrong as well.

To me it's more a case of the OP having the redundancy in their build in case this sort of thing happens, and still complaining.
-
"Treat others as you wish to be treated" is a code that I like to live by.
That and if I can win without having to resort to underhanded tactics, then I think that says volumes about me as a player.
-
Yeah, Ace is right.
Unless they have Unrelenting or carry someone with Mad Grit, then there is a significant delay before they can attack again.
-
I've already reported the game crashing on my Xbox. Go through bHVR support and have them monitor the situation as well. The more players they see this happen to, the easier it'll be to fix.
-
WHAT THE F*CK HAPPENED THIS TIME?
-
Well, for Survivor I'd take Spine Chill, Lightweight, Resilience and Iron Will. Basic med-kit deal, so lots of charges. Obviously I'm taking Jake for Iron Will.
As for Killer, I'll start with the Doctor. Perks I'll take Distressing, Whispers, Sloppy Butcher and Overcharge. My Doc build already has Distressing and Whispers, so this was an easy choice. Add-ons will be my tried and true Order/Calm.
-
Literally depends on the killer in question and other perks.
I like Ruin as it is instant regression and faster than kicking. Bu the time Ruin is cleansed, I've hopefully applied enough pressure that kicking a generator late game isn't a huge issue. It also helps that I've been running Surveillance since before the Ruin rework.
-
I had originally thought that it was some version of Latin, but it looks like I was wrong!
-
ONE!
It's a start. Maybe if I get enough attention on my 40k models thread, they'll notice and put something like that in the game!
-
If they're ghosting you, f*ck 'em.
I make jokes about MY mates, but we all know it's for fun, and I expect they do the same.
I've also been ghosted by a long-term friend and care not for them any more. Just forget and move on. If they ask, be truthful, but not strictly polite.
