this post is crazy, let me count the busted survivor perks just since ive played. DS 5 seconds stun added due to endurance, endurance then changed to no longer work on DS but DS not reverted. Metal of man a perk SO busted that devs only took like 3 months to nerf it. Dead hard, stays the same for years. COH after multiple nerfs still a really strong and very viable perk. boil over a perk so strong THEY HAVE TO CHANGE MAPS built to last can take those toolboxs that got changes and refill them multiple times iron will a perk that was changed TO COUNTER ITS COUNTER PERK, object of obsession RUINED TOURNEMENT PLAY COMPLETELY .
strong killer perks just got added. we had Ruin undying and that got changed quick to be able to be completely gone in 2 minutes and it took 2 perk slots. there isnt a single perk every released that changes the game on the scale any one of those does on killer side. the closes was pain resonance i mean the closest now is overcharge but you just have to tap the gen to stop it from being full power.
this isnt even count other perks like sprint burst, spine chill, borrowed time, unbreakable, overcome. which are all strong perks but not as strong as those are. gee wilikers sure looks like killer perks are just so op
Thing is ruin undying was still very strong after its nerf. Mettle of man was completely destroyed (not that I’m complaining just an observation)
Built to last is far from meta. It makes medkits better but all other items aren’t strong enough to warrant using when you take into account time spent in lockers.
My point here isn’t that the old perks should stay the same. All but 2 of those perks mention are really old. My point is that new survivor perk releases have been terrible hence why nobody even now of all times is using them

Ok, devs said that they nerfed selfcare because they think that having the capability of healing at will is not balanced at all. Then you find Circle of Healing and bottany stacking, giving you the exact same thing they said that was too strong.
Then we have Off The Record, which has received a considerable buff that transformed it into one of the strongest perks in the game for survivors.
We also have some exhaustion perks that give haste (sprintburst, balanced landing, agility) , perks that if are used with knowledge can be also strong.
Then, about your "strong" killer perks, lethal pursuer can only be used once and needs addons and aura reading perks to be useful. Pentimento is easy to counter, just do not cleanse if it is not needed, and if shattered hope is in game, do not boon or make sure you cleanse one Pentimento totem so it does not reach 5 stacks. For pain resonance, try to be far from scourge hooks and keep repairing the gen, and have long chases. For Call of Brine, simply stop the regression and be patient. The same world for Deadlock, be patient and if the killer is camping the gen, then go repair another one.
Every perk in the game can be countered, and many times outsmarting your rival is more than necessary to avoid difficult situations, like a 5-stack Pentimento. Some counters are easy and some are difficult, but if well-executed, the match could be yours.
For your counterplay of PR the survivors actually can’t tell what’s a scourge hook or not (unless they have saboteur). By the time you figured out all 4 spawn you’re either dead or the perks already gotten insane value.
Lethal only needs to work once since it helps immensely when killers are at their weakest that being the early game. Also many killers already run aura perks/add ons so don’t make that bonus sound like a bad thing. What if the killer is camping with deadlock? You can’t really be patient in that case
My problem isn’t that these perks are strong. My issue is that survivors consistently get perks like dark theory and corrective action which just plain suck

No, I think they afraid to make a strong killer...
(About perks)
It depends on what perks for survivors considered as "strong".
My guy they made artist this year. Easily a high A tier killer. Nemmy is also pretty strong

I've noticed this too!
The last real strong survivor perk we got was CoH. Haddie's perks are mediocre at best and whilst Yoichi has a couple of good perks (Parental Guidance & Empathetic Connection), they're very situational and still don't match the power of some of the recent killer perks.
To put things into perspective, in the last year killers have received the following meta perks: Lethal Pursuer, Scourge: Pain Resonance, and two strong Hex perks (Pentimento and Plaything). A strong case can also be made for perks like Grim Embrace, Merciless Storm, Call of Brine, and Dissolution being really strong, too!
The only real 'meta' perk survivor's have had is CoH, and I suppose you could also argue Overcome too. If you look at all the survivors released in the last year or so (RE survivors, Jonah, Yoichi, and Haddie): some of their perks are mediocre/situational at best (Bite The Bullet, Blast Mine, Parental Guidance, etc.) whilst others are borderline useless (Dark Theory, Corrective Action, etc.). It's fair to assume the past few chapters they've focused on strengthening the killer, so after the recent update, it'll be interesting to see what kind of perks both sides get.
Yeah let’s hope survivors get some cool new options to play with
-
Can’t we just admit this entire community is whiny? No need to say it’s just survivor mains or killer mains
Hell remember when PTB lucky break came out. That didn’t even survive the ptb
-
I’d say just make it cap at 6 stacks so it is basically capped at 40% like before
-
I basically on,y p,any 2 survivors and 2 killers. This system doesn’t do much to benefit me and the removal of bps from WGLF and BBQ has made it worse
-
Stealth is the way to go now but you have to bring distortion to make it work. Aura perks/add ons are really common right now with new lethal pursuer
Alternatively you could bring OTR but that on,y works when you’re already caught and more than likely being tunneled so…..
But yeah stealth should not be the way to go imo. Encouraging little interaction is not good

I'm curious, why do you like his perks if you think they're weak?
I find them fun to use. Dissolution can be great on clown, Septic touch is a nice addition to anti heal builds and darkness revealed is great on huntress for cross map shots and pretty busted on nurse tbh
-
I’ve seen like 2 since the update. She’s more popular but compared to legion or pinhead not really
-
Me too. Been having a lot of fun with clown since I’m not forced to run slowdown perks anymore. That doesn’t stop every killer I fight from running 3-4 of them though :(
-
As random as ever really. I would say something has changed but MMR is such a bad system I can’t tell

Damn you caught me. Just when I thought I had everyone fall for it
But you saying solo queue was buffed this patch in another thread far outclasses mine. That’s bait of the year material right there

Ok that makes sense. I get your point.
I think a lot of it comes down to just how powerful the old meta perks were. It took CoH, a perk that was absolutely busted on release, to make people consider swapping their builds. I think now that the meta perks are nerfed we might get some more useful survivor perks later (and hopefully no more slowdown perks for killers :p)
We’ll have to see. With the likes of new calm spirit though I’m worried they won’t change their habits.
And yes let’s hope regression (especially repair speed debuff) perks are out of the question for awhile now. I actually quite like all 3 of dredge’s perks even if they are kinda weak so I hope they continue the trend of chase/info perks

So let me get this right....
You are saying that the New Survivor Perks are weaker then what already is in the game?
Maybe cause they realized what they did with previous Survivor Perks and didn't want that to happen again... cause maybe it's bad if 1 Survivor runs a Perk but if all 4 Survivor do it then it becomes an issue (IMO)
Also 1 Killer is in play per match so the Killer side does kinda need a little more power in the perks (again IMO)
I’m more so talking about how the devs always seem to release survivor perks very weak and then potential buff them up later. A new chapter release should have the perks be centre stage especially for survivors since the character themself is just a skin. The same generally doesn’t occur for killer (Still does in some cases like pyramid head)

A perk getting reworked to become good is still a good perk. I personally think Lucky Break is very underrated.
The hex part of Soul Guard isn't its greatest strength, it's the endurance part. But back when it released hexes were very common so it was a solid pick.
Original Prove Thyself wasn't that good as Leader outshined it. The current Prove Thyself is much better than old Prove Thyself and old Leader.
My point for lucky break is that it initially launched with very safe values as most survivor perks do. This isn’t the case as often for killer perks (PR, Deadlock, Call of Brine, Starstruck and pentimento all launched with fairly high values)
Not to say it doesn’t happen at all for killers. The likes of eruption, Gift of pain an oppression are all perks that launched pretty weak. I just feel like killer has been more opportunities to get strong perks at launch

Circle of Healing released last year and is also super strong.
Other good perks released after 2017 are Deliverance, Lucky Break, Soul Guard, and the new OTR.
Also the current version of Prove Thyself was added after 2017.
Lucky break launched extremely safe and needed a mini rework to become good. Despite this it had its duration halted before launch
Deliverance is okay but inconsistent as hell. Very balanced perk but not reliable especially in solo queue
Soul guard is decent but honestly who even uses hexes atm? Most of them suck so this perks value isn’t always guaranteed
Prove thyself is just as good as it has always been really. Definitely a solid option though

@MrPotato said:
Clearly they aren't scared of making survivors strong if dead hard was in the game unchanged since 2017
Killers finally get a sizeable buff for the first time in 5 years and the foundation of the world collapses lmao
Yes but that was released in 2017. Since then COH is the on,y perk to ever significantly change perk loudouts.
Witb this update not many perks have actually been made strong so it feels like the old meta is still being used
-
@Anara said:
Very nice bait ! Good job 👍
Thanks for adding nothing to the discussion👍
-
I did watch that video and kinda agree. The old meta is still stronger than the majority of perks which is a problem with a meta shake up update
-
@playhard said:
hey use lightweight thats a new meta combo with off the perk. I play killer and facing survivor with those perk. so difficult to track
Lightweight is pretty strong but it’s hard to tell when you get value from it especially without fixated

YEARS of suffering first down DS and Dead Hard and the world is ending less than a week after a patch that changes things up.
Please try some of the new perks and think about how you can use them.
I am. And by doing this I’ve realised how weak and niche the majority of them are especially newer ones
Self preservation, Overzealous, boon: dark theory, boon: exponential, clairvoyance, resurgence, rookie spirit and counterforce are all example of weak perks released fairly recently.
-
Lightborn is a waste of a slot imo. I’d rather them try for a save, fail and waste their time as opposed to figuring out I have lightborn and just sitting on gens
-
Obviously survivor perks have to be balanced differently than killer perks but besides COH survivors have been getting the short end of the stick in terms of perks for ages
Just look at overzealous and dark theory. 2 perks that launched with such menial numbers that one is already getting a pretty big buff (it still sucks though)

The thana complain is simply people jumping on a bandwagon. 0,5% increase is barely noticeble. But those threads look like its a 50% buff.
Old slowdown meta perks were all nuked.
Corrupt wasn’t nuked on the killers who actually needed it like Myers trapper or hag. Ruin was actually gutted so that’s fair, Pop is worse but still amazing and even slightly better if the gen is nearly done, PR is still meta without question
So besides ruin I don’t see it
-
@Tsulan said:
Slowdown meta isn´t as oppresive as most people think. Even stacked, the perks are okayish. I´ve played solo against full slowdown build, killer got 5 hooks during the whole match. 3 man escape.
So it pretty much looks like what we had before the patch. Only difference are the people that are refusing to play normal.
My main issue is that they said they wanted to make regression perks weaker but Ruin is the only one to get a sizeable nerf. PR is definitely weaker now but still an amazing option. Jolt and eruption are both very strong regression options on top of the old ones as well
Don’t really get all the thana complaining though. It’s annoying but the perk is hardly much stronger
-
Huntress, Billy and demo are the most fun killers to p,any against imo. They are all pretty strong while still leaving room for counterplay. They can also all snowball well if survivors misplay
-
@NightmareKT said:
Can you blame them? The speed of Gens before the new patch was so fast. How can killers play without perks like Resonance or Thana or Ruin
Problem is people still do. Regression perks were nerfed but the 90 second gens makes most of the nerf pretty unnoticeable. Some even got buffed like overcharge, Jolt and Eruption.
Survivors needed second chance perks like killers needed regression yet now there isn’t really a good anti tunnel option besides hoping you teammates have BT

Queues for Killers have been bad since the last 3-4 years. Specially in the morning-afternoon. Has nothing to do with this patch lol stop being overdramatic over losing E.
Thing is survivor queues are now quicker regardless of time if day at least for me. Killer used to be much faster during evening/night time but now it’s consistently 7+ minutes
-
Thana should just get a rework and pop will probably need changes to compensate. Rest of the changes sound pretty good though

Thing is, up to this patch, it didn't matter what cool strong option would get released for survivors, nothing they could ever release would come close to the game breaking potential DH had, so we would still only ever see the exact same 5-6 perks in every survivor in every single match. Maybe from this point on they'll release new stuff, if the tears of the E widows don't drown the devs into going back and un-nerfing it.
I agree that the 5-6 meta perks needed adjustment but that shouldn’t have stopped them from making other strong options. Again buffing 2/3 of haddies perks only a month and a half after launch perfectly shows this
-
@Carth said:
CoH, the most recent survivor meta perk has gone through 4 nerfs(2 on PTB and 2 live) and is still an amazing perk. I think devs are doing ok with making strong survivor perks
Which was the last super strong survivor perk though? It was dead hard released in July 2017
Off the top of my head killers have got pain resonance, hex undying, no way out, Corrupt intervention and pop goes the weasel in that same time frame.
-
@Arkmenhah said:
Devs release the first killer sided patch in years and this kind of post shows up not even a week in?
This has been an issue before this patch. Anyway I’m happy killers got the buffs I just wish survivors got some cool new strong options as well and more consistently good perks every chapter release
-
@AndyKuky said:
I mean… none of the killer perks you listed are exactly meta or anything. They’re all decent perks you can throw in certain builds with certain killers or throw onto any killer if you want to play a certain style. Just like all the recent survivor perks.
Personally I think CoH is very strong. And Overcome is a top tier exhaustion perk. I run Overcome with Lucky Break and it’s amazing how easy it is to lose killers. And now they even buffed Lucky Break.
Pain resonance, no way out and deadlock are all definitely meta options imo just not used as often since people enjoyed the old meta more (And BBQ for BP)
COH is still pretty strong but overcome is just an alright perk, it has more weaknesses than strengths imo and pails in comparison to sprint burst
-
Survivor is now always the fastest regardless of the time. Killer varies between 10+ minutes in the morning and 5+ minutes at night
-
I just hate how random it is especially if you don’t run fixated you can’t tell when your marks disappear
-
It should be capped at 40% imo. Regression perks shouldn’t really synergise especially ones that just slow down repair times
-
OTR isn’t DS on crack. It’s our slightly worse replacement for old DS after it got gutted
-
It’ll be interesting to see how they take the increased kill rate stats. They did say they wanted it but at what point is it too much?
-
Doubt we’ll get any changes besides maybe a few bug fixes. They’ll probably change some stuff up when the new chapter comes out I’d say
-

I don’t have to spend 5 minutes on 1 gen
Only if you didn’t know how to wake up. Plus new Freddy is just holding W except every time he hooks your gen loses 20% progress from pop
-
What would stop sweaty killers from just playing casual to stomp casual players?
-
I’m still enjoying it but that just because I never took it seriously. I just play for archives and to try out fun builds
Don’t blame you for leaving though especially with how some killers are playing
-

She had 4 blinks that's why they were lowered.
She was rebalanced, not because she was "OP".#
If survivors want to hook dive someone with star-struck that's a you problem.
Lowering her blinks was nice sure but she can still ignore survivor defences and still end chases in 15 seconds so it doesn’t really matter.
How can you avoid a 44 metre ring on a small map like the game for example when she can move around fast t spread the effect through agaitation?
She’s a problem that will only get worse the longer she stays the same. Best just deal with her now
-
@Oscarnator said:
Yea I miss having 20 minute matches of holding M1 :( so sad he’s gone. /s
How is new Freddy any more fun?
-
Serious question does anyone even like new Freddy? I feel like he’s just bland, uninspired, weak and doesn’t represent his source material well.
They said the reason they reworked him was because he was too weak but then they released killers like sadako and keep killers like Myers in the gutter
Just bring him back with his new teleport and some QOL changes like incapacitated in the dream transition and a hard cap on action speed penalties so he can’t stack slowdown perks
-
@MilManson said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3080154#Comment_3080154
Toolboxes were re-worked because they were OP, 4x BNP ending the game within seconds, one toolbox basically repairing an entire gen.
Nurse fits in the game.
And nurse is OP as well hence why she needs a rework imo. Toolboxes with BNP’s we’re broken for ending the game in seconds yet nurse with starstruck ending the game in minutes is okay?
Fact of the matter is that if they want to buff the bottom half of the roster nurse will need to be changed to compensate since any base killer buff/survivor nerf just gives her more power
-
So bring back dead hard for distance VS M1 killers? No chance in hell the devs are doing that
-
@Aztreonam78 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3080133#Comment_3080133
Why Nurse needs a rework? Yes, she is the strongest, but is it a bad thing? Why she shouldn't be the strongest Killer?
Because her power is outdated and doesn’t suit new dbd well. She was added back when infinites were on all maps and Brand new parts completed gens instantly
Those have all been changed at their core (Entity blocking on windows and Toolboxes getting reworked) yet nurse’s core design remains the same to the detriment of the game. So long as nurse can ignore pallets and windows she’ll always be the strongest killer basically
