  • Stories like this should remind us all that behind every killer is another player, just like the rest of us.
  • Bloodlust did [BAD WORD] all against looping anyway.

A cheap painkiller is better than nothing.
  • I agree wholeheartedly communication needs to be improved so that we have less of this : https://youtu.be/8poRY3kZiNE

Is it just me or does it seem like the developers are actually trying to kill their first game? Not to mention their future products' reputations.
  • The game clearly needs to buff killers or nerf survivors, this much is certain. The only question is how.

Well, currently Death Garden is free for now so I guess I'll check it out. If it turns out more balanced than Dead by Daylight I honestly might just jump ship.

I want to stick with Dead by Daylight, I really do, but the incoming pallet buffs might honestly shut down my playtime as I will just stop playing killer entirely. With that entire half of the game becoming unappealing thanks to Bloodlust nerfs and Pallet buffs I'll likely just play survivor until the repetitive trails and lack of actual fear ultimately drive me away entirely.

The developers need to be careful with their future decisions, otherwise more players will leave than new ones join. This will ultimately result in them selling a broken product.

If both games fall short I'll just boycott Behavior.

I think this is just a connection issue honestly. If the problem persists across multiple games with different connections then maybe it's your controller.

Wait so pallet looping, and going to pallets is toxic now?

Everyone's opinions are all in a rut right now. If survivors quickly do their only objective then it's a toxic gen rush. If killers kill everyone it's toxic too. If killers use common sense to punish bad hook saves it's tunneling. If survivors attempt a blind to save a friend's life it's toxic. If a killer defends a hook from an obvious hook rush then they're camping. If survivors wait to help at the gates they're toxic. Everything is bad and we're all terrible people, apparently.

Whatever happened to just playing the game?

well if i didn't have to last second switch from nothing to what i want to use like a flashlight every lobby cause the killer at rank 4 doesn't want to "deal with the toxic" then i wouldn't be suggesting this cause the ones that dont switch to light-born and or Franklin's and the only way to really fix this problem is to not allow the killer to see the survivors only the name

The killer has every right to see survivors and prepare perks to counter them. They have to kill 4 players who each have 3 lives, all within 5 minutes. Sometimes I run sabotage on Jake. The killer has every right to counter that with Hangman's as without them I don't even have a match.

from reading the forums a lot of people thinks the game is unbalanced, going in favor off either side depending on view but most agree on it being in favor of swf, and some of the killers being to weak.

might be easier to balance the game around 2 kills 2 escapes if the stats are easier to read for the devs,
so instead of giving survivors 2 times their can be unhooked, change it to second hook is death.

the second hook on death should only take effect if 15 seconds have already passed since the first hook, to not encourage patrolling to much, and give killers incentive to go for someone else.
off course some people will just wait it out, after downing the unhooked survivor and then hook, but camping can never be completely balanced unless people died on first hook.

will make it less stressful for killers instead of survivors having up to 12+ lives,
shouldn't really effect the low ranks to much either, their either bum rush the hook unhooking within the killers sight, or saves would hardly happen.

the timer could always be adjusted and it shouldn't interfere with survivors reaching stage 2 on first hook.

Step 1 Prestige killer to P3.
Step 2 Acquire Mass Ebony Memento Moris
    Step 3 Profit

I've only done this once on Pig, prior to completing my build for her, and making it an event would just cause survivors to cleanse the totem and deny you every game.

It could be all kinds of challenges in a row.
    Getting a 4K with a 5-T H: DH would be like challenge #3.
And you'd have to do like 7 different challenges to then unlock it.

If that happens the reward should be depending on what rank you are on.
But this ain't gonna happen. I have a feeling for it, there never will be any challenges like this.

A challenge might be neat in other games, but with this community odds are you'd get 3 kills and almost have a challenge point when the last guy DCs, leaving you with no challenge point and some bloodpoints.

I honestly doubt, flashlights have the purpose to blind somebody and I dont think pressing CTRL will be seen as griefing though we know they don't have any positive meanings with doing so. I think they mean actions like purposely sandbagging/blocking and teaming up with a killer which makes it practically impossible to play the game the way it was meant to be played

I want you to take more time to rescue your friend so your not doing a gen. When you know the killer is forced away from the hook there is no fear, there is no caution, good little killer went away -.- now lets run tot he hook and get dem BPs.

what if you have make your choice and we have were gonna make it and botnay knowledge and a medkit? we can heal our friend, not get instadowned and you also wont get your devour hope chip if you have that and many other things, i run self care, botaney knowledge, were gonna make it, sprint burst. along with usually a ranger medkit with a faster heal and add 10 charges

    And about your "problem"
You will feel better that some survivor who dc on you will have 30 min break?
It won't really fix your issue you know.

And then there's those who lose connection because of some technical problem.
    Wanna punish them too?

    Seriously...

Why should survivors be spoonfed a victory in the first place, im against the hatch existing because survivors let teammates die just so they can escape

Its not that he feels good about a survivor getting punished, its that the survivors can ruin the game for others and there is nothing you can do about it because there is no punishment
And its not the games fault that your internet sucks

The game has sent me to multiple distant countries where my internet suddenly isn't as good as it normally is.
  • What killers need is to have identical sized hitboxes as the survivors. This will negate the effectiveness of looping and fat shaming which will make killers more of a threat.

    "Reported" (via their Xbox profile)
    "Sure dude"
    "baby killerino why so angry"
"Because the game is over 2 years old and the devs have yet to put in a concede option to prevent survivors from taking the game hostage. The match was over TWENTY PLUS minutes ago, yet here we still are because a survivor refuses to leave."
"You're lucky there isn't a harassment option to report you for."
"You trapped me in the basement" (I went AFK on the basement stairs. Turns out he was bluffing/lying, as I later saw visual notifications elsewhere on the map, not in the basement)
"And the killer refuses to look for me so there you go"
"I shouldn't have to look for you. The game is over. Both exits are open; the hatch is open."
"So you're refusing to play the game?"
"Sorry dude, that's a report for farming and unsportsmanship"
"There is no game left to play! There's nothing stopping a survivor from hiding somewhere on the map and just move around to different hiding spots so that the killer can never find them. You are not playing the game as intended: the survivors' goal is to escape, and you are refusing to."
"So what's your goal as the killer?"
"To sit back and let the survivors escape? That's not what the devs intended."
"So, what, the survivor gets to take the game hostage until THEY decided when the match is over? If they don't want to escape, they don't have to, and if the killer gives up you report them? What is wrong with you??"
"Nope you're refusing to play and I'm in the basement. You are blockking my way and not looking for me. YOU have the game hostage." (lies, again)
"YOU refused to leave and YOU CHOSE to hop down into the basement AFTER seeing that I was blocking the stairs! Probably did that so you could report me for taking the game hostage like the troll you are..."
"Nope. You are afk for no reason. I wanted the chest so now I'm stuck here genius."
"Move, look for me or quit. You took the game hostage."

Then I saw visual notifications across the map and went to play another game on my other monitor until he finally gave up and escaped, a full hour after the exits were powered...

You know, this reminds me of certain paragraph under the EULA, (Players shall not)

  • Perkwise I recommend using Shadowborn to increase your FOV which will also help you throw hatchets better. Ruin and BBQ are always good picks as well. Brutal Strength is great for breaking pallets/cover but Enduring + Faster wind up add-ons might work wonders.

Add-ons wise I would recommend shorter cool down and faster windup or shorter cool down and hindered.

Playstyle wise there are usually two main forms of attack: long range and short range.

With long range you should focus on landing mostly hatchet shots.

With short range you can use the hatchet + axe combo.

    My Huntress tips are:

1.) Take advantage of vault animations
     - When survivors vault/drop pallets or vault windows they always vault in the center. Use this to get a free hatchet.

    2.) Reload whenever you can
     - You only have 5 hatchets by default so you'll need to make them count. Use down time to restock so that in the next chase you will have enough.

3.) Know when to back off
     - The Huntress, despite using a rabbit mask, is one of the slower killers. This puts her at a greater disadvantage when looped compared to other killers, unless she has hatchets to throw when they drop pallets. If you run out of hatchets, back off unless they're exposed.

    4.) Use vantage points
     - Fully charged hatchets are good for sniping distant targets. If you want to track survivors climb up high and look around. You will likely spot a survivor or some scratchmarks.

    5.) Use generic tracking skills
     - Scratch marks are usually the main point emphasized in the tracking department but there are some tracking facts that will be handy to know.
    - Injured survivors leave blood trails, follow them.
    - Crows fly relatively straight up when disturbed, watch the skies to see if someone is nearby. Also take note of where crows are, an absence of crows can be just as telling as cawing ones.
    - On Coldwind Farm watch the corn. Even when crouching survivors move corn stalks. Use the hills and harvesters and watchtowers then aim at the base of moving corn.

6.) Have fun! You are the host and it's your world. Just experiment and play around with different playstyles until you find one that you like.

Honestly guys just because survivors have exploited the game horrendously doesn't give you grounds to be just as bad. Killers like Hannibal expect class from their peers its pathetic that this bug hasn't been fixed yet but irregardless I'm avoiding tinkerer perk until its fixed.

Tinkerer I and III are fine, only the middle one is bugged. (Not sure why a Pig would need Tinkerer though.)
  • Apologies if you think rank doesn't matter but in game balance rank matters considerably. Given the toxicity of this community it's extra important. Higher rank competitive players will discover exploits and overpowered features faster and can use them most efficiently. Take a look at the "Survivor" meta and the recent changes.

Sprint Burst - Sprint Burst used to trigger multiple times in a chase which severely countered the power role's faster speed. Now it can be triggered less and thus lets the power role actually use their speed.

Borrowed Time - Borrowed Time used to grant two survivors a get out of jail free card at hook rescue attempts which proved too powerful at the end game.

Decisive Strike - While the change is not currently present in the current build this perk that currently acts as a "get out of jail free" perk will soon require teamwork to be truly effective.

The devs are balancing the game so that the power role can have power. They are working to make sure that no player has too much power over the each other. They even nerf the power role on occasion. All I'm asking for is a longer game that way the survivors actually have cause to be scared.
  •    My only question is why do you still bother with PS4? They delay updates for the longest times and lock peoples' EpicGames accounts to their consoles. All so you can play killer with a controller? Do yourself a favor and get a PC. If you don't have money now then save up for it.

In the meantime don't bother calling out bad killers as that will just deter good people from buying if they think the community is bad. Just "be the change you wish to see in the world."

It depends. On the Storehouse it depends on if they heard Bamboozle shut down the cancer window. If you Bamboozle the cancer window and get rid of a pallet or two in that loop spot you have a pretty decent chance at getting them.

No it really doesn't help. Bambo usually lasts just until they get to the window again, I ran it a few times on that map with Huntress and they just kept going around like it wasn't even there. It helps with the shack, pig tree, jungle gyms, and double L walls but for some major structures it does nothing. Torment Creek is another map where it fails. Bambo is also completely useless on Lery's because of the sheer amount of windows, and is mostly useless on Game because of severe lack of windows that can be looped (most of the windows on this map are a 1 time use, prolly the only one that you can use to loop is the freezer window).

I personally find Brutal Strength to be more reliable overall compared to Bambo just because there's never a spot where it's not that great to use.

Or how about you don't run the window and find another survivor who isn't running that loop easy fix..

Right, because if they're the last one left I should just give them the hatch?
  • In the current state of the game the generator times are fine. Killers can hook and chase down survivors too easily. If the killer is doing his job properly he is sabotaging every generator that is being worked on and slowing their progress.

If they balanced it out more so that there were less hooks and the wiggle timer was fixed, then yeah, expanding generator repair times would be a fair way to balance it out..
What rank are you at killer-wise? I was at rank 7 a few days ago as Doctor. During a match the survivors popped three generators just as I hooked the first survivor. The shouldn't be able to activate three gens within the span of a minute forty-five.

If they remove it, they better replace it with something else. Killers are much faster than survivors, and if we're just going to slowly remove window vaults, pallets, etc. without replacing it with other things then the game is just going to turn into short chases where the killer almost always wins.

There aren't enough ways right now to break chase that aren't looping, and while I agree that looping is boring (on BOTH sides) it's ridiculous how often people bring it up as toxic behavior or something to just straight up eliminate instead of replacing it with something else. Do you want to actually have a challenge as a killer or do you just want 4ks every game? The waits for matches trying to play killer are already absurd, I think the devs should avoid making more changes that will just keep pushing them longer and this is one that would.

    What about juking the killer?

You know, double back up and losing the killer.

Doesn't work against good killers with a brain, ears and eyes.

Have you tried using Iron Will, Lightweight, Quick& Quiet and Dance with me or Lithe?

Again, they are nice perks to use against killers who can't think.

So i take it you never tried to use those perks then.

As a person who's used all five let me tell you that the perks' counters are too strong.

    - Quick and Quiet - Only really helps with lockers which can be opened if the killer cannot find you quickly.

    - Dance with Me - Removing scratch marks is alright but you'll only need them gone if you run out of a locker, which gives a notification. Technically you could pair it with Quick and Quiet, but that's half of your perk slots being used for a combo that could effectively insta-down you if time it wrong.

    - Iron Will - This perk is a good perk by all means, however being silent doesn't work against Bloodhound or an observant killer as you still leave trails of blood.

    - Lightweight - This perk works fairly well for runners however the killer can still track you with crows. Or you could always run into a trap

    - Lithe - Just drags out a chase. It buys you a little time, but not enough to juke. Usually it will let you get to a pallet though. So it only helps with loops.
  • I'm sorry friend, but this is too strong of an ability. Unless you give killers the power to board up windows pallets shouldn't be renewable.

They need to introduce a debuff to camping killers that works similar to exhaustion for survivors. Make them loose move speed or make them reduce damage so they need 3 hits to downa survivor and let it gradually degrade over time.

You do realize that Mathieu Cote the game director likes and probably inspired camping right? Look at dev diary 3 for the quote.
  • I just farm with people when there an event.

Well regrettably not all killers want to farm. Hence the guide.
  • It's simply horrific how abusive some survivors are to killers. We all need to remember, killers are the hosts and the antagonists. No killers, no game. I'm not asking us to celebrate being killed off but we do with a little more common decency.

Nice guide! May I also suggest detective's hunch? Also, the new dark sense is great for when you're trying to squeeze in as many special generators as possible. :)

Due to the taller/brighter generators I think detective's hunch is more situational. As in most situations you'll likely see the event generators unless they're indoors.
  • Have you by chance read the yellow pop-up at the top of the webpage? I'll paste it for you if you can't see it.

We are currently experiencing Connection issues on all platforms.
Our team is investigating the issue.
  • The key to Saboteur lies in Empathy. You should by no means ever completely sabotage a hook unless it's by an opened exit and you're leaving. The hooks stay broken for 3 minutes, so make those minutes count. Sabotage hooks to 98-99% then when the killer brings over your friend just run in and finish the job. Experiment and test perks until you find a set that help you achieve your goal. As for Agitation and Iron Grasp, just be ready to run to another hook. The only counter is Hangman's, which will only really be seen during hook related events.
  • When I play killer I usually main Doctor (for the points). Let me tell you right now, you don't need to kill to pip. Killing helps considerably, but you can get away with a good Chaser and a good Malicious emblem. In my philosophy you are a winner as long as you see yourself as one. I personally set a handful of custom goals for myself:
    - Earn points/BBQ tokens
    - Scare survivors
    - D E S T R O Y  F L A S H L I G H T S
    - Spare the last survivor if I'm content with the match.
As long as I can do at least one of these goals I consider it a good game. Experiment, try your best and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
  • I'd have to say Huntress. Myers is good but his instakill requires survivors to be in melee range. With Huntress you can insta-down survivors at a distance and then hook them. Naturally this add-on forces you to use only one hatchet but the infantry belt can change this to three. Combine this with a Mori and as long as you can hit your shots you'll shred through survivors.
  • For the record, this isn't a stealth brag, I got the new Billy weapon in roughly 5-6 hours. So I don't know why there's dudes running around saying "OMG! I need to equip Agitation and Hangman's Trick to fight those dang dirty trolls!" It's really not that hard to achieve.

It's just Howling Grounds PTSD. That event was just like this one except you needed offerings for any objectives to spawn. Also the toxicity was much higher as well.

I played against a handful of hillbillies who thought it was hilllllarrrrious to play Tinkerer 2 and then just slug everyone in the match as soon as one generator was started. Yeah that's really fun, being slugged on the ground in a minute because you're basically exploiting a broken system. A+.

Like survivors don't exploit enough for wins? Just sayin lol

    Oh please.

Of course there are some survivors who exploit BUGS for wins, but the number of people I ran into exploiting the tinkerer BUG for kicks and giggles was incredibly discouraging.

If you're comparing that to "looping" or "gen rush" or "bringing in a flashlight" or even "SWF" (all mechanics that are put in the game by the developers even if you don't like them) then that's not a great way to view the game play.

I believe CallMeRusty420 was referring to exploits such as Dead Hard jumps and the infamous Pale Rose put trap.

I don't see the dead hard jumps that often and what is the Pale Roe put trap? I don't really watch the live streams or see that enough to know what it is.

This information is for educational purposes only, mind you. The Pale Rose pit trap is an exploit involing the drop-off on the second floor of the boat and a survivor. If a survivor stands at the correct section of the fall's landing then the killer can become trapped. This is due to the fact that the killer cannot hit survivors directly underneath themselves. It's a nightmare to deal with as it strips ALL power from the killer. If you want videos of it try searching "Ochido Hillbilly Pale Rose". That should get you into the ballpark.

So, how does the attitude shift in the community? Do people play the same? Harder? More generous, or more trolley?
Last time there was an event like this there were roaming Saboteur squads that would farm the gens and deny special hooks all game. I hope that this time will be different, but only time will tell.
