Platform, region, time, rank, side (survivor/killer)?
-
Definitely not.

Not if you compensate the opposing side by making it progressively benefit them while hurting your team until you get back
If a survivor DCs it's already a big boost to the killer, since it goes from a 4v1 to a 3v1. If the devs did what you're saying, it'd be even worse.

I didn’t do it out of emotion
Whatever your reason, you ruined multiple players' trials and therefore should be punished for it.

If a few hours were enough, it wouldn't have reached 48 hours in the first place. In DbD, there's also no way to allow someone to reconnect without completely ruining the game's balance.

This makes no sense to me.
Nowhere in the in game tutorials, or perk descriptions does it say that hooking resets exhaustion.
No other timed status effects are reset upon being hooked.
Yeah, it didn't make sense to anyone when it came out, but that's the way it works.

Sounds like a bug.
Ive been on the hook and still watched my exhaustion timer tick down.
The bug is what you experienced. The way it's supposed to work is: you get hooked, Exhaustion goes away.
-
NOED used to last forever, you could Mori someone after downing them the first time, and Unrelenting was a 9% cooldown reduction.
-
I would add someone with experience in game development who's not biased. I'm not sure who fits the bill, though, hence the vague description.

it would make sense if they gave DBD for free in Stadia for Steam users
Arguably it would make sense for you to be able to purchase a game and use it on whatever platform you wished, but things are more complicated than that. However, Stadia and Steam are not comparable to previous generation consoles and current generation consoles. Stadia is not an upgrade to Steam or your PC.

What do you mean “like with a hook”?!
Exhaustion doesn’t just magically go away once someone is hooked. It just recovers as per normal because they’re not running.
It’s entirely possible to be rescued from a hook before your exhaustion has recovered. Slim, but possible.
It's not, though. Exhaustion is immediately removed upon being hooked. It's been that way for a while.

DS was initially useable by every survivor when they were first picked up. It was later nerfed so that only the obsession can use it that way while non-obsessions needed to reach 33% wiggle to free themselves. Then it got reworked into its current (and more powerful, imo) form.
You used to be able to sabotage trapper's bear traps permanently. Sabo all of his traps, and he was trapless the rest of the game.
Mettle of Man activated after 3 basic attacks on its release. This made it incredibly powerful against killer like Wraith and Hag, but nearly useless against killers like Huntress that often didn't M1 survivors.
We'll Make It used to give you a speed bonus when healing yourself. It was possible to heal yourself faster than the killer could hit you.
Sprint Burst and Balanced Landing used to be on separate 40 second cooldowns.
Nurse used to move at normal killer speed and have 3 base blinks.
Survivors used to vault incredibly fast and medium vaults weren't a thing.
Huntress didn't lose Play With Your Food stacks when tossing hatchets for a moment.
Myers could stalk multiple survivors at a time.
Good skill checks used to give you bonus progression.
Brand New Parts would instantly complete a generator, regardless of its current progression. 4 survivors each with a BNP would only have to work on 1 generator.
A very rare and ultra rare addon for medkits used to instantly heal a survivor. The ultra rare one would heal two health states.
Borrowed Time used to proc only once per match, but protected both the unhooker and the unhooked. Getting hit under its effect caused the survivor to start "bleeding out", and after 30 seconds, they would be put back in the dying state. Only healing would pause the timer, and being healed would simply put you into the normal injured state.
Dead Hard used to have no special animation. It just looked like the survivor was lagging.
If you want to see more weird, old features, look up some of these things: Pallet vacuum, dribbling, and insta-blinds
Nurse used to move at normal killer speed and have 3 base blinks.
She moved slightly faster than the survivors, but not at the same speed as a normal killer.

cause they make the cages spawn next to your team mates
Small correction: cages spawn as far away from PH as possible. Your teammates are not taken into account. What happens is that your teammates are usually going to be far away from the killer regardless, so you spawn near them, but that's a coincidence.
Anyway, cages are not hooks, so this is normal. If cages were to act as hooks, you'd also have BBQ and other killer perks being activated by them, which you do not want.

The most satisfying thing is vomiting in a hooked survivors face. Although it is annoying that I am actually supposed to be sick on their feet to infect them. I've never understood that.
Correction: you can infect a hooked survivor, but literally just one "tick". Move up and down on their entire body, you'll see.

First, learn to relax. I saw in your other comment that you get very nervous when chasing survivors; you have to get rid of that. Relax, you're just playing a game. When you've stopped being so nervous, you can start to look at the map tiles and figure out where survivors are likely to loop you and how you can trick them during chases. Keep in mind that some killers are too tall or have some other indication of where they're going (like the Plague's censer), so you can't always trick survivors.
You also have to get rid of the notion that there's such a thing as "playing dirty". There is not. There are only plays, and some are more efficient than others. Play how you think you'll be most efficient.
Finally, you may just need some new perks. If you find yourself getting bodyblocked a lot, I recommend Mad Grit.
-
How about 2?
@Wiitab360 said:
What about somethint like only headshots instadown?
Not sure we could trust Behavior with hitboxes like that though...
The hitboxes for survivors do not differentiate between body parts. You get hit or you don't, that's it.
-
Right? This is why I loved playing the Plague back in her PTB, it's hilarious to puke on survivors.
Side note: These threads about having fun as killer are making me want to play killer again.
-
Oni is a lot of fun, IMO. I love it when the power meter fills up and I can go full rage mode and just tear survivors to pieces. His Mori animation has one cool thing (ripping out and crushing the survivor's tongue), but the rest of the animation is just OK.
Deathslinger is also fun (I mean, who doesn't like shooting survivors?) and probably slightly easier to play, but he gets shafted a lot by simple debris. On the other hand, his Mori is ######### brutal.
-
I'm guessing it's the fact that new consoles are being treated as hardware and software upgrades (finally), the same way you don't have to repurchase the game if you change your GPU or get a new OS on your PC.

Survivor gameplay is much simpler than killer gameplay, mechanically speaking, so it's much easier to reproduce bugs with them. Killers are very complex by comparison, so it's harder to reproduce bugs on their end.

You just said you'd hate if half your team was out to troll the Killer, which is Theoretical because I doubt if event hooks were breakable every game you'd get would be sabo squads looking to troll the Killer so you're basing your opinion on assumptions and not facts. Hooks don't stay broken for long anymore either, so really don't see why they should remained blocked.
No, I'm basing my opinion on multiple things, but you're choosing to focus on an irrelevant statement regarding my preference in teammates (which, by the way, is based on real experiences, though not my own) as opposed to the fact that killers were being trolled back when event hooks could be sabotaged.
I don't see why they should be unblocked, since it seems a lot of people are still looking to sabotage event hooks and only event hooks.

Define "#########". Like the people who flashlight click and teabag, bring moris and tunnel etc. aka the people that aren't really doing anything bad, they're just kinda annoying. Or do you mean those people who are actually toxic and send homophobic and racial slurs etc and generally go out of their way to insult a player?
The latter.

This is all theoretical not every Survivor squad is out to troll the killer. Same goes for balancing. Feel like all I see is people trying to suggest every game is the top 10% of sweaty SWF's because it's not and i'm tired of seeing this as an excuse.
What is theoretical? I didn't say that every survivor squad is out to troll the killer, nor did I make any statement regarding game balance. What I said was that, this way, killers can't be trolled by sabo squads, which is an objective fact.

Yep and look how that's turning out for the game
In this particular instance it's turning out great. Killers can't be trolled by sabo squads and trials can progress more or less normally. I'd hate to be in a trial where half my teammates are just out to troll the killer by sabotaging event hooks.

The simplest solution is almost always the best.

I mean it doesn't work fine because I wouldn't be on the forums complaining about it. Shouldn't stop a survivor from doing something just because it could be "trolling"...
If survivors hadn't trolled killers en masse before, this wouldn't be necessary. Unfortunately they did, so it is. You'll just have to hold off on sabotaging hooks until after the event, I suppose.

me and my friends joke around and have fun in the game so we sabotage whenever we have a toolbox if we can. Either way, just because something isn’t used often doesn’t mean it should be completely useless. A good sabotage can save that player from dying and even possibly win you guys the game.
I'm just saying, it's temporary.
-
There's a difference in input controls, which means that regardless of their skill, they're inherently capped at a certain level of play. Since this game requires quick, precise movements, keyboard and mouse are just better, so console players will seem of lower skill.
-
No, there is no name and shame. Did you record them and send in the recording?
-
Sabotage isn't really used anyway and it's just for the duration of the event, so I don't see the problem.

As someone else suggested it would of been better if they did it so the event hook moves to a different one after Sabotage
The current system works just fine, so there's no reason to waste time implementing a different one.

I want an explanation when team mates decide they're going to be toxic for no reason and the same with a killer. Then to see OH thats cool. I'm the only person here who isn't allowed to SEE the chat taking place let alone participate.
If you're going to force console players to play at a disadvantage against PC players all because they want to play with the other consoles. The least they can do is add the chat in. How hard could that be.
You can disable crossplay if you don't like playing with PC players.

This would be insane with killers like Oni that were also using Infectious Fright.

Honestly yes I wouldnt mind. If you have ping over 100 you are matchmaking banned. It gives you a significant advantage. Games like fortnite with 100 players have bette latency. Why does the worse ping player have the advantage?
With rng they could have static placements like Thompson house. It has a guarenteed 2 jungle gyms. That's an example of static placements. I should never see multiple LT walls especially with how bad they are.
Sorry but I dont see any latency issues with killer when they have priority over hits. I can litterally pull multiple clips of bad hits. Theh are so consistent it's almost every game. I cant even vault or throw pallets down.
It's fine tthough I quit dbd, game is bad, devs are amatuer at best.
Honestly yes I wouldnt mind. If you have ping over 100 you are matchmaking banned.
That's not how ping works, at all.

Yes, we are supposed to ignore stats that are "contaminated" by external factors. That's how statistical analysis works.

Dude all I see is you on the forums trying to constantly 1up people who give an honest opinion on the game. Do you actually play the game yourself? How are they exactly irrelevant stats when the whole game is about surviving and getting kills.
No doubt they would be relevant if it showed 20 million Kills vs 6.7 million Escapes.
They are irrelevant because the devs explicitly stated those stats were just from trials that advanced the challenges.
-
@ItzPixelYT said:

and why is that? because i'm giving my opinion on a dumb mechanic? lol the game is 2 sided...you're going to have people who are defending their side of the coin. I play both and personally I couldn't give a f if someone sabotaged a event hook. Stop making assumptions about me when you don't know how I play the game.
Just makes me laugh when all I read is people complaining with how "OP" survivors are when Killers clearly get a lot more Kills than survivors escape. Take kills out of the equation and look at the bloodpoint difference too.
Feel like most people just see this game as oh look a killer getting abused by some top 5% SWF's...let's go complain about it, when really most games are, getting hooked once, lucky to get saved by randoms, dead.
No, because you're using irrelevant stats to justify your attempt at ruining other players' trials.

I was playing against a Wraith on Dead Dawg Saloon. I was in the saloon, going to fix the upstairs gen, but then I noticed the Wraith (cloaked) was coming toward the area, so I used Urban Evasion to try to sneak away. I ended up on the other side of a breakable wall while the Wraith (still cloaked) was chasing someone else.
The survivor vaults through the window next to the breakable wall and drops down the hole shortly before I hear a loud "crack" and the wall just explodes in my face The Wraith drops down the hole upstairs and continues his chase without seeing me, thankfully, but that was definitely one of the scariest things that has ever happened to me in DbD.

Camping is not bannable. You're wasting the support team's time, as well as your own.

@TheButcher said:
This happens to me all the time, and I think it's because of the Hatch. Originally there wasn't a hatch. Wanna know why it was added? Well. There were a lot of complaints of SURVIVORS taking the game hostage by hiding and not doing gens at the end of the match. So the killer was forced to dc or would get bored and go afk letting the last survivor do the last gen and escape for free, or the killer dc and the last survivor escaped for free.
They responded to this blatant abuse - by creating the Hatch.
Yeah I am not kidding. BHVR thought it was a GOOD IDEA to give playres taking the game hostage by giving them a free win mechanic. That's not even the worst part.
Today now the hatch gets abused where the last 2 survivors take the game hostage because they want to fight over the hatch, players sabotage each other because winning via the hatch as solo is easier than doing objectives, and Killers have to slug making the game boring for survivors to secure wins they deserve when the survivors were complete trash and none deserved to escape.
So yeah. TLDR; BHVR responded to survivors taking the game hostage, by giving them a free win mechanic. Now that free win mechanic causes players to take the game hostage because it's easier to win that way then to do the actual objective.
The hatch has been in the game since release, what are you talking about?
-
If they win and you lose, how come they're the bad players?

We can agree to disagree.
You can't know because you can't access the information. This is not a matter of opinion, it is not possible for you to know every single person who was banned (temporarily or otherwise) and why they were banned unless every single one of them explicitly told you about it.

It's not an instant permanent ban though. It's a warning, then a temp ban, then another, then another, then a permanent one. So you'd have to have some serious repeat offenses for it.
Exactly, and after the first two or three temporary bans, people tend to get the message. Those who don't get what they deserve.
