This is the fourth person I've seen collecting data and it's pretty much showing the same thing. Survivors are way underpowered right now. If you count hatch escapes as kills (If gens are still left and they didn't use a key), I bet the escape rate is even lower. This is the exact same stats I'm seeing.
Yes, if you count escapes as kills, then there are fewer escapes.

Ok, you have to tell me :D . I
I was joking. I find some killers physically attractive, but I'm not into sociopaths.

I play killer less than I play survivor, but I still play it. I think the problem here is that both sides complain about each other. Like, can't we just be happy with the game and not have a temper tantrum any time the other side has an advantage? It's a video game, dangit! When did all the sweaty fortnite kids come here?
That's easy to say when you're not the one being asked to bite the bullet. Why is it so bad to have a balanced game? What's the drawback in a balanced game?
-
I mean, I definitely know which killers turn me on...
Oh, you meant something else. My bad, as you were.
In all seriousness, it's not the character, it's the player. The player wants to do something and the character makes it easier to do so. That's all.
-
It means what is says: drop. Whether that's by the killer's own volition or some other means is irrelevant.
Pro tip: don't overthink these things. It's almost always exactly what it says on the tin.

Ignore them. That's how I do it.

That's the fault of some content creators, who started to complain about it and like a herd of sheep people started to complain too. It's a non-problem and it's stupid thinking it is.
On the other hand, you can mathematically demonstrate that killers without some sort of catch-up mechanic are left in the dust if survivors just run away in a straight line (not even taking pallets and windows into account).

Pretty much the only juke I've seen is when they double back on you. If your on the ground level to counter that just simply blink down (or up if your on a top level). Though I have no answer for this if your on a map that has a middle level.

If you're talking about a double backing survivor I totally welcome that as a nurse main, shift w absolutely doesn't work against her or any of the other top tier killers and on top of that there's only like 2 maps it can work on even against low tier killers because the maps aren't physically big enough and the killer will be able to cut you off, there's a reason why Tru3 picked red forest and made the survivor get as far away as he did and it's because that is the biggest map in the game currently due to the fact it hasn't had a rework like most of the older maps, red forest and coldwind are the only older maps that haven't been touched as of yet.
Mindless double backing is a noob strategy, and therefore only works against noob Nurses (and those who are rusty or having a bad day).
I've a headache right now, but when I'm better I'll try to explain how to counter the Nurse. I'll give you a hint: it involves object hitboxes and how the Nurse blinks through stuff.

Just wanted to correct you on a thing, in-game bans do show on profiles but only if it's a permanent ban from a game.
This is where a lot of misconception comes from like you said, temp bans don't show on profiles so people assume they've done nothing when they could have literally handed out a week temp ban etc.
Right, I meant temporary bans. I'll amend that, thanks.

I mean around what evidence is needed, how long the process takes. If it is an automated investigation or if there are individuals handling each report. And yes, some email response to the user making the report wouldn't go amiss either. As it is, you're just throwing the report into the abyss and hoping for the best.
I mean around what evidence is needed
Yes, this is written in the online resources I mentioned.
how long the process takes
Depends on the volume of reports and the number of mods. I thought this would be obvious.
If it is an automated investigation or if there are individuals handling each report.
Individuals. Who do you think reviews the videos?
And yes, some email response to the user making the report wouldn't go amiss either.
Bad faith actors would pretend the responses are fake and people who are unaware of the fact that temporary bans don't show up on Steam profiles would believe them. There's nothing to be gained from this.
As it is, you're just throwing the report into the abyss and hoping for the best.
Peanits has already proven that reports go somewhere and are read by the mods, but he shouldn't have had to anyway. Most websites don't give you feedback on your reports, they just act on them. It's only DbD that has people complaining, for some reason.
-
@AsherFrost said:
I don't think I have ever seen anyone seriously claim that there are not hackers or cheats in this, or any other competitive multiplayer game.
The reporting system sucks, and from what I understand you need to have recorded the match, reported in game and filled out a form on their website with the video evidence to have a chance of the report going anywhere. Unfortunately due to the lack of transparency around the report process, that's not even advice I feel super confident with, and could just be a waste of time.
What lack of transparency? The mods have repeatedly given out this information. It's available on various online resources as well. If you mean that you don't get an automated message saying "We acted on your report", the message would be labeled as "fake" the instant it came because temporary bans don't show up on profiles.

All I can say is, my ping is often lower than some people with a wired connection... so...
...So you're connecting two things that aren't related. Ping is the delay between you and the server, which is, in most cases, the physical distance the signal has to travel divided by the speed of light. We're referring to the strength and stability of the connection between your device and your router.

Wi-Fi can be more stable that some wired connections, its not that clear cut.
A good broadband connection, with a decent router and a short, clear path between it and the device is an almost negligible difference.
My PS5 is 2 meters directly above my router. It would take 10 meters of ethernet cable trawling though the house to make it wired.
A good broadband connection, with a decent router and a short, clear path between it and the device is an almost negligible difference.
It really isn't, especially across different floors/rooms. There are a lot of negative effects associated with trying to force an electromagnetic signal through the air (and walls) as opposed to a conductor.

its not just me who has this problem u know
Yes, I know, and people like you should not play online video games.
You need a stable Internet connection to play online games. It's just as much of a requirement as any piece of hardware. If your connection is not stable, then you do not meet the minimum requirements to play online games. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but that's the way it is. There is no serious online multiplayer game that doesn't have these penalties.
EDIT: Before I get accused of something, my boyfriend's connection can be unstable sometimes, as he's stuck with one of the worst ISPs in our country. When he and I play together with/against strangers and his connection starts acting up, he tries to finish up that round and then stops playing. This is how he deals with it, because he understands he's ruining the game for everyone else (intentionally or not), and I wouldn't have it any other way.
-
Bad wi-fi is your problem. Don't make it everyone else's as well. Get an ethernet cable.

Check page 2 of general discussions if you haven't seen "Survivors holding W" posts. No need for me to link it.
I've yet to see anyone call it toxic, apart from people such as yourself, who are misrepresenting what's being said.

After seeing the video of the "strat" i can say that i get why it feels like the takeaway is that its toxic or whatever. Mostly because tru3 in the video says that its frustrating when survivors run away early.
If anything this kinda shows that going after people in the distance is a bad idea and you kind ahave to think about how and when to initiate the chases. To be in the beleif that anything really has to change to make the "strat" worse is not really the way to go, as someone said before what could change is the sizes of the maps as some are really to big.
If you don't chase them, they just go right back on the gen and you lose pressure.
If you chase them, everyone else stays on their gen while you waste a ######### ton of time chasing one guy.
That's why people are complaining, it's catch-22.
I literally did the math on this years ago (wrote a program to calculate chase time and everything) to show why this is a problem, but I guess if a big streamer doesn't say it, it's not real. [shrug]

"Which is literally the entire point of the Undetectable Status and using bits of level geometry to break Line of Sight. The only time it doesn't work is if the gen is out in the open or they have Spine Chill, and Spine Chill is actually not super common."
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VQJC7DMWOGGI/image-2810-29.png
"The only time it doesn't work is if the gen is out in the open"
Even if the gen isn't out the open, Survivors' wide, third person camera allows them to peek around all kinds of corners. They can survey a huge portion of their surroundings even despite walls. And it's not even that hard to do. Just look around you as you're on a gen.
"Spine Chill is actually not super common."
What rank 20 matches are you getting that people don't run Spine Chill? I see it every single game.
"Sloppy buys you 6.4 seconds per injury outside of survivor healing perks or medkits which isn't too bad."
Where the hell did you get these numbers from? That's not true at all.
Sloppy reduces healing by 20%. It changes the speed at which you are healed at base from 1 charge per second to 0.8. Healing requires 16 charges. 16 / 0.8 = 20. It adds 4 seconds. Or at least, it's supposed to. I heard from somewhere that it's actually bugged and only adds 3 seconds of healing time. Even if it's not bugged, though, 4 seconds is barely nothing. Even if you injure all 4 Survivors, that's 16 extra seconds, less than one-fifth of a generator. It's garbo.
"Then... downing someone mid heal can buy me more time than a single instance of Pop."
I don't even know how you made this absurd deduction.
"Despite what you seem to be implying, I do know what I'm doing... and it has been working for me."
I really highly doubt you do if you don't even know the numbers behind the Perk you rate so highly.
The fact that you know the difference between speed and time gives me hope for the future (of this forum).

I am aware of Survivor's 3rd person camera. I'm wondering what kind of camera you've got if you think you can see most of what's going on around you when you're on a generator that's inside a Jungle Gym.
I'm in red ranks. Most people up there are much more scared of tunneling, slugging, and camping than what I do. Because of that, I don't see much in the way of Spine Chill or Healing perks. It's not unheard of mind you... but lobbies with zero spine chill is FAR more common than lobbies with four spine chill. 4 DS is way more common.
Then Sloppy is even better. 32 * 0.2 is what I did. Yes a survivor healing another takes 16 seconds, but that requires 2 Survivors to stay put. That means that total amount of time the Survivor team loses by healing is 16 * 2 or 32 seconds. If dbd is calculating things your way, then a 2 person heal takes 20 seconds for a total of 40 seconds of lost Survivor time.
The heal progress bar disappears into the ether if you down a Survivor before it completes. If 2 survivors are 15 seconds through their 20 second heal and I stab the person with the heal bar before it completes... well they can kiss that 30 seconds of time goodbye. That's 10 more seconds than Pop will buy you. Its from a different source and can end up being less than Pop's 20 seconds but it still works quite well. That doesn't even count all the time you save if they haven't even started running before you stabbed them. Closing the distance when the Survivor isn't moving is so much easier.
As for the numbers... well... its dbd. They do math weird and I forgot that when I wrote that.
As for the numbers... well... its dbd. They do math weird and I forgot that when I wrote that.
They do not, no. You're just confusing speed and time. If interaction speed (measured in charges per second) is decreased by 20%, then why are you multiplying the time (measured in seconds) by 20%?
-
No, survivors need to play to a killer's specific counters instead of demanding that all killers have the same counter. What's even the point of playing the game on either side if you have to use the same exact strategy every single time?

That is a real response, though. It doesn't seem that way to you because you're looking for a specific answer. Hell, you've already reached your conclusion (that they're trying to make the game as unfair as possible in their favor) and are working backwards from it.

-
Long story short, besides those who are experiencing game-breaking bugs, the various reasons can be summarized as entitlement.
- They feel entitled to force others to play the game they way they want (see the endless rulebooks).
- They feel entitled to ruin the game for everyone else if they don't get their way ("If you don't care about my fun, why should I care about yours?").
- They feel entitled to pick and choose what they go up against (can't play this character, can't use that perk, can't use those offerings/items/add-ons, etc.).
Basically, they feel entitled to force a private match, where they can dictate the rules, onto random players in public lobbies.
-
Depends on how lucky I get. Sometimes the Entity takes 2/3 of a massive bloodweb, sometimes She takes a handful of items worth 12k in all. Gotta steer Her toward the expensive stuff.

As usual, people confuse "listening" with "obeying orders unquestioningly".

Stability/Optimization is still a HUGE issue and people are talking about this issue (Especially us console players) for years.
FPS drops and memory leak are a thing for us and often times ruins the game experience for us.
BHVR once said they will aim for 60 FPS on PS4 and XBOX One back then in March 2019,but we pretty much didn't heard ANYTHING about it.Even after people started a thread about the state of Optimization on console with like 30+ pages.
And the only thing we got was nothing more than a useless "We'll look into it".
Just look into the Optimization category of this forum and filter for "Solved" or "Acknowledged" and you see absolutely nothing.
It's embarassing to say the least

You started digging up legitimate information after you have been called out, you won't be awarded an apology. On top of that, you aren't targeted specifically by any streamer streaming the game. They're just enjoying the same game that you are enjoying and streaming it. I doubt anyone in their right mind would go to court with "I saw Streamer X streaming the gameplay footage of [DATE, TIME] with me in it and demand a trial."
You started digging up legitimate information after you have been called out, you won't be awarded an apology.
Do you keep laws and legal resources bookmarked on your browser? Because I don't. I skimmed through the thing once when it was passed, to see what all the fuss was about, which is what my opinion was founded on. You implied I was knowingly spreading false information, which is why I had to dig this stuff up again.
So, yes, I started digging this stuff up because you accused me of spreading misinformation. Had I not done that, you'd just keep saying I was talking out of my ass. It's catch-22, really. If I don't show the information, it's because I'm spreading misinformation; if I do, I only did it because I was called out (like it's normal to keep this stuff bookmarked or something). What'd you expect me to do, exactly, if not look up information?
On top of that, you aren't targeted specifically by any streamer streaming the game. They're just enjoying the same game that you are enjoying and streaming it.
Indeed. However, because I'm not a lawyer, I don't know if that makes a difference. If it's anything like news reports in the streets, which censor the faces of passersby, then that could be irrelevant.
I doubt anyone in their right mind would go to court with "I saw Streamer X streaming the gameplay footage of [DATE, TIME] with me in it and demand a trial."
That's not the point, though. The point was whether there was any legal basis for doing so. I gave my answer based on my understanding of GDPR, but I advise anyone who wants a definitive answer to seek legal counsel.
Since you're not going to apologize for the accusation, can we consider this discussion closed, at least?

@Yoonz said:

I am guessing the "online identifier" is what you are so wild on. In Steam's case that would be the ID64 because that is the definitive ID to your account that does not change. Even the web address to your profile can be changed at a whim, not just the nickname. I doubt Streamers would go out of their way to fetch people's ID64 while trying to enjoy the game.
The GDPR states that for data to be processed anonymously, the process that results in anonymity must be irreversible, because
Data that has been encrypted de-identified or pseudonymized but can be used to re-identify a person is still personal data.
And now under "pseudonymization"...
Pseudonymization is when data is masked by replacing any identified or identifiable information with artificial identifiers.
Although it can be a great way to protect the security and privacy of personal data – pseudonymization is limited. Even though pseudonymous data will not identify a person directly, they can be indirectly identified relatively easily.
Some examples of this type of personal data include
- An internet user name, such as a name used to post to an online discussion forum.
- Any social networking data, such as a person’s friend list and login information.
- Internet user-generated data – data that is knowingly generated by an individual, such as discussion forum posts, internet searches, and personal data that they input into their social networking profiles.
- RFID codes (radio frequency identification)- RFID chips will usually include an identifiable unique number, which individualizes any property to which it is attached and can therefore be used to identify someone.
- Unique identification numbers on personal devices. For example, Mac addresses, IP address, Bluetooth number, International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number, or Near Field Communication number.
Source: https://www.gdpreu.org/the-regulation/key-concepts/personal-data/
Now, you can say that streamers would be unlikely to go for the ID64, and that's probably correct, but it's not what you were saying before. You were implying I was talking out of my ass and spreading misinformation. I expect an apology.
Also, keep in mind this is not just about Steam. There are multiple other platforms that do not let you change usernames at will, and people on those platforms play DbD as well.
EDIT: And, just because I don't want to be accused of providing legal counsel, I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice, and you should see a lawyer if you want legal advice.

You are very much spreading misinformation and then excusing it by going "I'm not responsible". Just don't comment for a change if you have nothing substantial to say.
(1) 'personal data' means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person ('data subject'); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person;

All of this is false as no personal information is being displayed. A nickname that can be changed at will online does not classify as personal information. Cut the crap.
- "I'm not a lawyer"
- "might"
- "can be argued"
- "not a lawyer"
- "speak with a lawyer"
I was clearly speculating and said as much, even advising @Tsulan to speak to a lawyer because I don't know which laws apply in his country. Why the hostility?
-
@Tsulan said:
How is the legal ground here? When i say before the match, that i don´t consent to participate in the stream.

I'm not a lawyer, but under GDPR you might have some sort of argument for having the video censored and/or deleted, since it can be argued that it contains personal information. Of course, that presupposes you are in the EU. Not many places have passed privacy protection laws that apply online.
EDIT: Again, not a lawyer. If you want legal counsel, then speak with a lawyer and/or some institution in your country that provides legal counsel. We can't know which laws apply to your country.

Ya, see, my issue is telling people "use perk X to counter killer Y" because that advice serves no purpose or function after the fact. Telling someone to run something very specific against a very specific Killer or perk is bad advice, as they don't know if they will be up against that Killer or perk. Telling them the gameplay counters, not perk counters, is MUCH better and will actually service the Survivor FAR better than "Oh well you should have just run THIS perk or had THIS item on you".
If you'd been here as long as I have, you'd know that most people don't respond well when you call their skill into question. They also expect a counter to be a 100% win guarantee, even though that's ridiculous. They don't want to run perks to cover their weaknesses and they don't want to admit that maybe they're just not as good as they think and need to learn how to play better. They just want a way to win every time, without lifting a finger.
-
Almost everything in the game has a gameplay counter. Some are easier to do, others not so much. When you lack the skill to counter something with gameplay alone, or if you're unwilling to learn, that's when you slot in perks, add-ons, or items.
So when people say "use perk X to counter killer Y", they're skipping over the gameplay counters that you (most likely) know about, yet can't (or don't want to) use. For example, stealth, which is "boring" according to some players, yet serves as a gameplay counter to a lot of survivor grievances (Spirit, Nurse, and more).
Now, should everything have a gameplay counter? It's a tough question to answer, IMO:
- If everything has a gameplay counter, it essentially means that anything and everything you use provides little to no advantage. No matter what you use, on either side, the other side can just do something that nullifies what you have. Every character effectively becomes a jack-of-all-trades, with no strengths or weaknesses; just a generic blob that's great at everything.
- On the other hand, some things are so powerful that they probably should have some kind of gameplay mitigation, so players aren't forced to run certain builds just to play the game.

Well, i guess 90% of the players on this forum has a PC weaker than a PS5 (Ryzen 3600 underclocked + RTX 2070/2080).
40% weaker than a PS4 (Pentium G4400 + GTX 980).
So no, PC is not Masterrace unless you have money and you change your hardware every two years.
My GTX 1070 (released in 2016) and i7-4770K (released in 2013) are/were still going strong. The only reason I had to change my CPU was because my motherboard, of all things, was dying (3 out of 4 RAM slots were gone), and the CPU was simply too old to fit in the new motherboards. Otherwise, it was a damn fine CPU.
Sure, they can't play every game maxed out (in fact, they are approximately the recommended specs for many AAA games nowadays), but they're very good, despite being almost 5 and 8 years old, respectively. PC gaming is not as expensive as people like to claim, nor does it require as many upgrades as people like to claim.
Getting back on-topic, the game's not perfect, but it's not this insane pile of bugs people like to claim it is, either. Most people do not experience all these stability issues, or there'd be a lot more complaints and a lot fewer players. Furthermore, each and every patch has a ton of bug fixes, stability fixes, and so on. I'm not quite sure why you believe the devs aren't addressing the issues.

Just for the record, you do not have to write a URL manually. You can send in a support ticket afterward, as long as you also filed an in-game report. I'm not saying it's perfect, but automatically recording everything is a bad idea.
Do you know how big video files can be? I record LPs (not of DbD, but that's beside the point), and they can take up to 10 GB for a little over half an hour. Now, that's due to the encoding, which I set up to minimize the impact on my CPU, but it's the best way if you want to avoid increasing hardware requirements and worsening the game experience. With people playing sessions that can last for several hours, they'd be running out of space pretty quickly.
You could say that the devs can set up the recordings on their end, but that would just shift the problem to the servers. That means increased costs (and/or worse server performance).
Bottom line, if you need to record, you can record everything on your own. Yes, the report system needs improvements, but this is not the way.
