We got plenty of video games about WW2 already.
All the more reason not to do it, the market's already saturated.

I think it would be perfectly fine. I honestly don't see any problem with that.
I don't believe you. You might not have a problem with it, but you're smart enough to see why there is a problem with it.

I'm thinking about making a build around poised.
Vigil
Poised
Sprint burst
And spine chill/technician/self care.
What is your build?
I'm currently experimenting with Diversion and Red Herring, but my stealth gen jockey build is:
- Inner Strength (just because it's an amazing perk, though I may swap it with something more gen-related)
- Dark Sense
- Poised
- Sprint Burst

I use kindred, and I don’t see only 1 match in which all survs do gens and don’t come to the hook. Can’t remember in 4.000 hours only 1 match
That's a problem with the survivors, then, not the killers. The game should not be designed around people who purposefully make bad decisions.

I love this idea. My only problem with it is it sounds like a gen monkey kind of strategy lol
Which I mean hey, I like to do that sometimes. Being that one person that never gets found all match and does all the gens constantly is powerful.
I still recommend Dance With Me + Lithe + Quick and Quiet for a simple Houdini build if you want something tried and true. Throw in Iron Will and you'll be a true magician
Indeed, it's part of my stealth gen jockey build.

because you play swf. Playing solo survs go to the hook, see the trash camper and they can do only 1/2 gen. Also if the killer has ruin is less than this
Kindred?
-
Bigger than putting all the power in your opponents' hands and doing nothing? You literally have the power to win the trial without lifting a finger (literally, since you have to hold down M1) if the killer camps. What more do you want?
-
I find a combination of Poised and Sprint Burst works wonders. Finish a gen and be gone before the killer comes to check the area, all without leaving scratch marks - this confuses killers like crazy and makes them check the area for several seconds (since they think you're hiding somewhere nearby). Furthermore, with the right timing (usually requires SWF), you can even get rid of your scratch marks at crucial moments.
-
Do I want a killer whose power is a flamethrower, which is objectively the most awesome non-supernatural power in existence? Yes. Yes I do.
Yes, I know it's a subjective opinion. It's in jest.

I dont understand what that has to do with how bad they're releases are now though?
As a software developer, I'm sure you're familiar with how difficult it is to rewrite, maintain, or even use code that was improperly written ("spaghetti code", for example) without causing any problems elsewhere in your program, especially when that code is the basis for everything else in your program.
If you're not familiar with this, then I suggest you try to find an example of spaghetti code and untangle it, or just write some yourself. You basically just have to ignore every good practice in coding, make something moderately complex, and then try to fix the code so it follows best practices, without breaking everything else. Give it some time between the writing and fixing, because forgetting what the code does is also part of the problem.

It's the amount of bugs every single patch that gets me. I'm a software dev for a small engineering company so I get how some bugs slip by. But bhvr is a large company with supposedly dedicated testers, and honestly gameplay doesn't drastically change that iften between patches, so why does every patch feel like it's part of a beta release?
Because the initial budget for the game was too small (the publisher had no faith in the project) and corners had to be cut.

Oh well, then better wait.
But still 5 times is a little too rare for an older perk.
That's RNG for you. Fun fact: the odds of BBQ (or any other perk) being in the Shrine actually decrease as time goes on, because there are more perks overall.
-
Left Behind has only been in the Shrine twice, compared to BBQ's 5 times, despite being an older perk.
It's just random. It looks like it's rare because you're waiting for it and ignoring every other result.

Yea but i don't want to i it to be more likely there's an obsession in my game anyway having perks always ran is boring i dont like how when im killer i SHOULD always bring a regression perk or how on survivor I SHOULD always have an exhaustion perk adding one more is bad
So don't bring it, and deal with the consequences. You don't get to have the benefits of Decisive Strike without actually using Decisive Strike.

Not to mention its the only Meta obsession perk on the survivors side apart from object so if its used less more killers will be given free reign to tunnel in more games.
I agree with this post so much because most people don't realise the presence of DS in as many game as possible is important because the devs started to treat it like a mechanic to combat an issue rather than a perk, which is annoying but if its usage decreases and there's less a threat of it then it become unhealthy for the game its why i want unbreakable and soulgard nerfed instead to stop the small pp meta but keep DS in games.
The perk is not being removed, nobody's stopping you from using it.
-
@indieeden7 said:
They really should have increased the time that it is active for, you shouldn't have to purposefully lose a chase in order to use it. Even if the times went 60/75/90 it would serve better as an anti-tunnelling perk.
The whole point of DS is to have it when you really need it, even if you don't get to use it. The threat of DS is often enough on its own to deter killers from tunneling. However, increasing the timer would not make it better as an anti-tunneling perk. What will make it better as an anti-tunneling perk is to actually design it as such.
-
Just to play Devil's advocate for a minute, what would it mean to "be lucky" with chests? Is it just higher item rarity? But a Rainbow Map is not as useful as a Skeleton Key. And if you're injured, you'll probably want a Ranger Med-Kit over a toolbox of equal rarity, unless you have Adrenaline and want to rush that last gen so you and your teammates can open a door and escape.

Community interaction and information is part of their job as a big modern gaming company. That they dont give any information or release dates in advance is a flaw in itself and originales from bad time management. If they would know what they are doing, they could give valuable information a week in advance. Like for example no release next week because of ... or estimated release on... before that.
They used to do that, and people complained when those releases were delayed. When they weren't delayed, people complained about the quality of the releases. Now, without the devs saying anything, people still hype themselves up and blame the devs because their completely self-made expectations aren't met.
There's no winning this. I don't blame the devs for shutting down most communication when people complain every single time. They might as well save themselves the trouble and do nothing, it's easier on the nerves.

I stopped believing this with Cyberpunk 2077
CP2077 was rushed, though. The devs (not the people in charge of PR, but the actual coders and such) said so themselves. And it's still a great game.

But by the logic you're using, nobody should have assumed it was to begin with, so why have anyone say anything at all? Oh right, because there were understandable expectations.
You can argue whether people SHOULD have expectations or not, but this is them acknowledging it in weird, roundabout way. And that's what makes it confusing.
Nobody forced the FW to say anything, though. The FW asked if they could say it, and the devs said yes. You're reading too much into it, like the devs specifically ordered this FW to tweet this.

No one said anything of that sort; now you are just reaching for false narratives.
The fact remains these issues could be solved with clear communication; without the need for actual release dates even. There are plenty of games and developers that don't give release dates because it's generally risky and can cause problems and disappoint people.
However they don't attract ire or upset people because they are still forward about what is happening. It's not hard to say "We are currently still developing the 4.6.0 update, however based on user feedback and internal testing coupled with PTB we have found that there is still more work to be done than originally anticipated. Please bear with us and stand by, we will update you further when we are ready and have more information on the update and it's intended release"
No release date given, yet most ire completely mitigated except for the unreasonable few. People are generally pretty understanding; but our sources of information shouldn't be left to only be guesses and estimations; that just breeds confusion and contempt.
No release date given, just heavily implied that tomorrow would've been the release date anyway. And people would still complain, because they'd still perceive it as a delay (for proof, see this entire thread).
It's not even leaking really it's them giving someone else the go ahead to tell people....maybe...I mean did they? We don't know, we can't know for sure. It's not first hand; but apparently they are able to actually say something themselves but still are not? Why is that? It's just so unnecessarily confusing for no real reason.
The fact that you don't know isn't what's causing your confusion, it's the fact that you're trying to guess what you don't know instead of focusing on the data that is actually available.

I have to agree, not the DEVs fault for your expectations ( and I'm usually quite negative to the dev's)
And that's why the devs no longer communicate with us as much as they did when the game was released. We used to have weekly streams where we got to shoot the ######### with them and people complained. Now they only give out release dates and such when they're a certainty, and people still complain. Worse, they try to make them out to be the bad guys because they can't control their own imaginations.
I mean, if people are going to complain whether you do something or not, then you might as well do nothing, save yourself the trouble. They're gonna complain either way, but you get more free time that way.

This is my exactly point.
If you want to use the cop out of "we never gave an official date wink wink", don't have a fog whisperer essentially unannounce something you didn't announce to begin with.
That's just messy and confusing for everyone, both in it's language and in the source it's coming from.
Who used the word "delayed", though? The FW didn't use it. The devs didn't use it. It was OP. All the FW said was "it's not coming out tomorrow".
-
@Zarr0ch said:
How can it be "Delayed" if they never published at date to begin with?
Because people had expectations (based on no information), and thus it's the devs' fault for... something.

They set the general timeframe themselves and created expectation, it's on them if they want to address that or leave it be, but in either situation they are responsible for the outcome and reception that entails.
They also finally did give information, but put it through a fog whisperer where I mean it could be a joke and we wouldn't know, because of their lack of any official word. This only exacerbates the situation further.
Turmoil cause by lack of any effort on their part to communicate whatsoever is still a fault on them in my book; especially because the communication problem with BHVR expands way beyond merely just release dates and into every conceivable aspect and issue within DBD.
So it's the devs' fault that people hype themselves up and then get disappointed when their 100% self-made expectations are shattered, despite the devs never saying anything, but at the same time any info the devs give through established channels (and yes, that includes FWs) is suspect and unreliable. And if they do say something, they're still to blame if people misunderstand (or blatantly misrepresent) what they said and get hyped. Sounds like catch-22.
Just for the record, you (or the devs, in this case) are not responsible for other people's fabrications in the absence of information. The devs created no expectations because they literally confirmed nothing regarding release dates, that was all on the forumgoers. It's not the devs' responsibility to shoot down every fabricated story, especially when doing so will create the notion that any story they don't shoot down must be real.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I mean there is like no communication, so people are lead to believe whatever. If they paid any attention they would know that people are expecting something on a certain date and could just tell us that it's not happening. They could fix almost all major issues by communicating.....
But again, if they actually FINALLY listen to what people have been telling them and make changes to this update, mainly with the new killer, it will be worth waiting even 2 more weeks if necessary. However long it takes just for the love of god fix this killer BHVR < . >
Even when they say something, people are "led to believe whatever". And if something gets delayed, well, that's borderline apocalyptic. Maybe it's just time to stop assuming stuff in the absence of information.

Do you know if you decelerate when making sharp turns?
Yes, you do.
-
No, and for the same reason you shouldn't keep add-ons if you get a 4k: because it creates a snowball effect where you use powerful add-ons that virtually guarantee you escape, and then you keep them, so you get to use them again next trial.
-
Survivors and killers accelerate at the same rate. However, because survivors have a lower top speed, they reach it before killers do. This is partly why looping works - killers will slow down "considerably" when turning corners, etc., relative to survivors.

Yet when they make a character's race they're clearly choosing an ethnicity on purpose.
It's the same entire argument, just race instead of sexuality, but you tell this person to wait when that answer isn't good enough for you.
Kinda hypocritical tbh
There's a difference between choosing one option out of hundreds to cycle through them, and just ignoring all the options to begin with.
You're conflating someone who's choosing restaurant A one time instead of restaurants B-Z, and someone who doesn't consider restaurants B-Z viable options to begin with. There's a big difference between the two.
The devs are not purposefully excluding any country or ethnicity, as evidenced by the multitude of countries that survivors and killers originate from, but they were purposefully excluding LGBT lore, by their own admission.

You know this is somewhat rich coming from you when you're wanting LGBT representation and the answer "be patient" doesn't seem to be enough.
200 countries that are not being purposefully excluded (and keeping in mind that original characters come from all walks of life and countries) vs. LGBT lore which was purposefully being excluded (by the devs' own admission, and keeping in mind that original characters' lore has been exclusively heterosexual). Doesn't seem like a fair comparison, IMO.

I see. I understand what you mean, but without playing Nurse, which is not gonna happen, it is basically impossible to determine where she is going to end up on.
But it certainly helps. Thank you, I appreciate it.
There's a lot more to it, like the fact that the landing zone has collision, but yes, unless you play and understand her, it's borderline impossible to truly grasp how best to counter her.
-

How is that even possible? Please, teach me.
It's hard to explain. I wanted to explain this in another thread, but it's something you can only truly understand if you've played Nurse yourself.
Due to the way hitboxes work, when the Nurse charges a blink to go through, say, a tree, there's a window where no matter how much she charges, she'll end up in the same place. If you understand how her blink landing zone travels, you can determine which side of an object the Nurse is going to end up on and, sometimes quite literally, put up a wall between you and her. If she tries to blink back, you still have a window of opportunity to get on the other side (if it's a small object like a tree) or just GTFO (if it's a true LoS blocker like a wall).
Now, you can understand the theory behind it as I've explained it, but unless you've played the Nurse yourself and truly understand her, these are just words.

Glad to see that someone agrees with me! I love how unique they are, especially Spirit. Nurse is fun as well, but an actual god-tier Nurse just makes you want to pray for mercy sometimes.
I make Nurses pray for mercy (though I must admit I am a bit rusty).

I'm sorry, OP, but your complaint doesn't make much sense to me.
You say that you're doing the same thing over and over again with the Nurse and Spirit, and present this as an issue. However, you already do the same thing over and over again with every other killer, yet this isn't an issue for you (in fact, you say that those killers are "fun" to go against).
For me, Nurse and Spirit are fun to go against precisely because they're different. They're fun because you need to change your playstyle, instead of doing the same thing you do against every other killer.
-
This sounds like an interesting mechanic to use during a chase (deciding whether it's better to let yourself get hit by the killer or breaking a wall), but I doubt it'd see much use, because breaking a wall is almost always a bad idea for survivors.
-
10k BP is nothing. However, if the Wraith was rewarded, he was rewarded by the survivor who unhooked you in his face.
Camping is only rewarded by the survivors' actions. There is no in-game mechanical reward for camping.
-
Nobody, apart from the devs, knows how the MMR system works to begin with. However, chases are not the only thing in DbD and the game should not be boiled down to just chases.

It's not like the concept of small black hole-esque portals materialising out of thin air is unique to either media, and I can't really see them doing a Chapter licensed from a three year old Netflix exclusive film that I can't imagine too many fans of DBD even know exists.
Especially since that movie isn't even in the horror genre, from what I can tell.
The film is definitely in the horror genre, at least IMO. It's about people being held prisoner so someone can experiment on them. However, I will say that the shape could be a coincidence.
