Is there a killer or monster in the movie? And it makes sense Netflix might do more with them after Stranger Things
I'm watching it now for the first time, but (SPOILERS BELOW):
There's a guy who created an AI (Tau) and is trying to perfect it using human test subjects. Tau has brutally killed people, but the guy has serious anger issues (to the point the AI has to calm him down), so it could go either way.

Sure holding shift + W is a good strategy, but unfortunately this only works if the killer doesn't possess a pair of functioning eyes. And when a killer can move 70% faster than the survivor (minimum) you're not outrunning a Spirit who just saw you run away from the pallet while you saw nothing.
Or she spends 2 seconds breaking the pallet then 5 seconds catching up to you because you're now in an area that doesn't have anything to work with.
But I'm glad people still think it's a viable strategy against her, it gets me a LOT of free hits if I ever play Spirit
I already laid out what happens if you engage in the mindgame. I find Shift+W provides the best outcomes. There are some exceptions, obviously, but this is the stuff you need to figure out on your own.

Bro do you ever play survivor? All you do is champion anything a killer does to win. We all get that gens go too fast and 90% of the killers can't really win the game against try hard survivors. But is it really worth it? Winning at all costs? Who f'ing cares at a certain point. Not all survivors are dickheads. Its just a (noncompetitive/random) game.
I'm a survivor main. Haven't touched killer in a very long time.
If you want to change the "win at all costs" mentality in the community, you're talking with the wrong person. On the rare occasion that I do play killer for extended periods of time, I stay at rank 10 because I play casually, trying out random builds or killers I'm not good with. Survivor is a different story, because it's so easy I find myself in red ranks without even trying.

I am not a simpleton. Points dont matter but if all of the survivors have about 10K and killer has 15K the game simply wasnt good. There barely any interaction between the killer and survivors. Or they all died in 2 minutes.
Survivor escaping is not a win in my book. Killer killing everybody isnt necessarily a win either depends on how the game went.
Or they all killed themselves on the hook, one after the other, because once the first guy does it, there's really no point in sticking around.

Long enough so that I can temporary forget that the killer is going to do it 2 more times.
So an unbalanced chase, then, because you're not supposed to be able to delay the killer that long.

If they already tunneled me once at 4/5 gens, by what logic would they not do it again...?
If you (and everyone who shares your mentality of "I'm killing myself on the hook because the killer used a tactic I don't like") didn't feed them kills, they wouldn't do it nearly as much.

You have to realise one thing. I dont care what killer wants, because they dont care about what I want. If the killer tunnels/camps early, I am no longer in a match. I am either playing chase simulator for the rest of the game (which isnt so bad if the chase is decent) or gen simulator which is boring.
There is literally nothing to learn from camping. When it comes to tunneling you only learn something if you are being chased and the chase last long time.
I dont understand which portion of it isnt a time waster in your eyes, but in mine it is. I know all the endings of that match.
I see it as an investment for the future of the game and not screwing over your teammates. You may not care what the killer wants, but the fact that you're giving it to them is why they'll just keep doing it. Why would they feel compelled to change tactics when the one they're using works so well?
Just out of curiosity, what do you consider a "decent chase"?

Your thinking process is flawed. Staying on a hook for 2 minutes doesnt make me play better. Realistically it makes me play worse since I dont play the game when i am on the hook.
Doing gens for 4 minutes to then leave through the door with no killer interaction doesnt make me play better. It makes me play worse when killer actually goes for chases.
Learning to counter strategies you have trouble countering does make you play better, though. And death is not a counter, it's literally giving the killer what they want. Working on gens for 4 minutes to win or staying on a hook for 2 minutes to help your team win won't suddenly make you worse in every other aspect of the game.

Sure there is.
I want to play interesting games. I dont even have to escape to have good time. i dont have to get 4 kills to have good game.
This is why I said KYF might be better suited for you. You get to have fun with your friends instead of ruining the trial for everyone who's trying to play the game as it is.
I prefer close games where you dont know how its going to end.
You never know how it's going to end unless you take it upon yourself to end it the way you want (for example, suiciding on the hook). The game is unpredictable.

This is waste of my time, waste of my teams time and you are accusing me of ruining the game? I really hope you quoted wrong person, otherwise you are a lost cause.
No, I quoted the right person. I quoted the person who would rather kill themselves on the hook than take one for the team so everyone can escape. I quoted the person who gets everyone else killed (with the possible exception of one hatch escape) because they'd rather get back into the queue than even try to play better.

Lions dont go for the young per se, they go for the weak/secluded animals. Also they hunt animals to live. If you tunnel someone to death at 5 gens it is more of a "small man syndrome".
Do you play to win, by any chance?

Not really because when they do it i stop playing. Its waste of my time so i usually get them to hook me and move on to hopefully a better game. There is no reason to tunnel at 5 gens...
It sounds like KYF would be better suited for your needs, instead of ruining the game for everyone else. [shrug]

Look I don't mind spirit, its just stridor AND spirit is so cheese it destroys her form of counter and then all you have is RNG, "maybe she wont be on this side of the pallet".
Just keep running instead of giving her the chance to mindgame you.
When you run, then either:
- She's standing still (not phasing) and you gained some distance.
- She's phasing to the other side of the pallet and you gained slightly less distance, depending on the route she takes.
The best case-scenario when you run is that you gain some distance. The worst case-scenario is you gain less distance. Both are positives.
When you engage in the mindgame, you can either vault back or stand still.
If you vault back, then either:
- She was standing still (not phasing) and you get hit.
- She was phasing and you're in the same situation as before, but on opposite sides of the pallet.
If you stand still, then either:
- She was also standing still and you're stuck in the same situation until one of you makes a move.
- She was phasing and you get hit.
The best case-scenario when you engage in the mindgame is that you end up in the same situation as when you started. The worst case-scenario is that you get hit. One is neutral at best, the other is negative.
Don't engage, hold Shift+W.

If people can play killers like Wraith and Trapper at top level no one has an excuse
If people can win against Stridor Spirit and Nurse at top level, then nobody has any reason to complain about them either.
It goes both ways.
-
MMR has been disabled for almost 21 hours. If you're having trouble with Spirit, you should look up some guides, maybe play as her so you can understand her better.
-
A few reasons:
- There are more killer challenges than survivor challenges, because killer gameplay has more mechanics. As such, you're more likely to get killer challenges. This is something the devs are working to fix, last I heard.
- You play survivor more often, so you complete survivor challenges and are left with killer challenges. This is normal. If you eat all the red M&Ms because it's the color you prefer, you're left with every other color in the bag.
- The game can't tell which side you prefer playing, so it can't bias for (or against) your preference.

I hope his nerf causes a drop in Freddy players because man I’m so sick of facing him every other game. I don’t want him nerfed to the ground, I just want him to have a higher skill ceiling while being just as strong.
A higher skill ceiling would be a buff, not a nerf. You mean a higher skill floor.
This is not complicated, just think of where the ceiling is: the top.
-
As the mechanic exists, yes, I would mind. If you want an obsession, bring an obsession perk. Tunneling is a valid strategy, whether you like it or not.

Spirit does not need to know that lol
Just control gens, if you hear something, track them and hit easly. Easiest killer in DbD.
Survivors fall asleep true but you can awake. It is not to hard. And after awake you have enough time to finish one gen or heal someone. And when survivors are in dreamworld they are not dying. Freddy still need to find and hit them. And in dreamworld survivors still have counterplay. Freddy still need to play smart.

Have you actually played Spirit against good survivors?

Yes, you can wake up, you just need to travel to the opposite end of the map or miss a skill check and give away your location, in addition to setting back your progress on whatever it is that you're doing. You could also have someone wake you, but that gets slower every single time, to the point it's not worthwhile any more.
60 seconds is not enough to finish a gen, gens take 80 seconds.
The more survivors are in the Dream World, the stronger Freddy gets. And survivors get in the Dream World automatically, through no effort of your own.

Those things obviously don't count. And please ignore the fact that the Trickster is one of the few truly realistic killers of the bunch, because mass-murdering psychopaths don't wear scary masks and try to "act creepy". They make you drop your guard first and then kill you in horrible ways.

How little effort? Freddy is one of the area control killers. You need to play smart. You need to use your dream pallets or snares good places. Also you need to keep people in dreamworld. He is good gen def killer. That is perfect against gen rushing. And also you need luck. If you teleport wrong gen, you will lose time and prob survs will finish other gen. Clearly fair killer.
Can you explain me how Spirit mains need effort? Her power is unstoppable. And when you hit surv, that surv cant escape or hide if he/she has not iron will. Spirit is only op killer for now.
Survivors fall asleep every minute just because Freddy is on the map. That's literally effortless.
Spirit needs to know how a lot of things work in DbD, because she literally can't see survivors or blood pools.

This happened nearly a week ago and you are telling us this now? I get not wanting to cause an unecessary stir within the community, but that was the wrong way to go about it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but according to the General Data Protection Laws (GPDR), a company that holds its users data needs to inform them immediately if any of their data has been leaked; regardless of whether it can be used to identify them or not (including personal data such as ID's).
Could a moderator or developer get in touch with us on the forum in public because we need honest answers about what happened on the 13th of March, please.
Also could you explain how a player ID cannot be used to identify us when its primary means of existence is to identify and help differentiate players?
Thank you in advance.

I don't feel too worried, but if all they got access to were our names / account numbers, and nothing that could be used to manipulate our accounts or financials, what constitutes 'suspicious behavior'? besides, perhaps, getting an email saying somebody attempted to get into my Steam account, which I doubt would happen? (I am a PC-Steam player.)
Q: Basically, I'm not going to worry. But what should I keep a lookout for?
People did talk about it, a lot. However, it's really no big deal. Hackers got usernames and account identifiers (y'know, like your Steam ID64, which anyone can get from your profile).

I'm glad BHVR was transparent about this, but it should be noted the information the hackers acquired is worthless. It'd be like someone hacking your computer to find out what your GPU is; they could literally just ask and you'd likely tell them without a second thought.

This gamemode already exists, its called crossplay on vs crossplay off, casual vs competitive, I just want it to stay around after they make mmr without a 2 hour queue time
If it already exists, as you claim, then your problem is player count, which is not something the devs can fix.
-
What makes you say that?
-
You can play casually if you want, MMR or no. However, if you're not playing to win, then you shouldn't care nor be surprised that you lose. You need to accept that you will lose if you're not playing to win, because everyone else is playing to win.
Unfortunately, people don't want to "play casually", they want to win all the time (or feel like they could've won), even if they barely make an effort.
If people really wanted to "play casually", they'd all naturally derank to the same rank, where they could all play casually together. I speak from experience: I stay at around rank 10 as killer (when I bother to play killer for prolonged periods of time) because I play casually. Were I to play to win, I'd get to rank 1. You don't get to rank 1/high MMR by playing casually; you do it by playing to win.
-
The PTB ends when the number of concurrent players drops to a certain level. It's not like they have a set date, it depends on community interest. The overall reason they don't give specific dates is because people get pissy when devs delay something, just look at CP2077.
-
Just bring Unbreakable if you're tired of being slugged.
-
Nobody knows. Just play to the best of your ability and see if the matches are fair or not.

I agree with your previous comment saying that it didn’t redefine the horror game genre. We could say that if it would bring something new and innovative to the table, but it didn’t. Jump scares where common even before FNAF.
However I disagree with the games not being popular. They most definitely are. Probably not as much lately but that’s what happens to most media after some time. But there is a huge following and because of the simplicity of the games even non-gamers tried them out.

MMR can take a bit to be accurate. Yesterday I played four trials as a survivor and escaped in three of them, go figure. It was especially funny in the second or third trial because I'd been reset to rank 20 (long absence) and there were green and red rank survivors, but I had the highest score.
-
No. Here's what Mandy said in another thread (keeping in mind that these numbers are examples, like she says at the end):
Basically the information that I have right now is that everyone will be set back to Rank 20 on the 13th of each month, you will gain pips as you progress and put the time in but you won't depip. You will receive a BP reward based on your rank prior to the reset then - so if you get to rank 1 you will gain 250k for example, but if you get to rank 4 you will gain 200k (these numbers are examples for now).
-
Absolutely not. That would make it rewarding to miss blinks.
