I don't know the exact stream where they said it was a failure nor the PTB where they tried it, nor do I care enough to look for either of them.

You played on a console, and consoles don't get the PTB. I play on PC, and PCs do get the PTB.
You've played for a year, give or take, I've played since the game was released.
I am telling you it's already been tried. You can either take me and everyone who's been here for a long time at our words (seriously, just look in any thread with people saying some variation of this solution thinking it's innovative or something) or you can stick to your guns and act like you know more than people who've been playing this game since its release.

i dont know more than people who have been with the game since release but if you had been and people have suggested this as much as you say then why dont you know when this was tested? i mean dont you think you would remember? i also said if you didnt have proof to back yourself up to not say anything and what did you do? you said something fully opinion based with no proof to make them facts.

You wouldn't be asking that question if you knew how many PTBs and streams there have been. And no, I don't think I would remember the exact date it was tried. Do you remember the exact date of a gaming event from last year? Do you have any idea how unreasonable it is to expect someone to remember? Can you even remember what you ate last week?

These are facts. The fact that you refuse to accept what everyone who experienced it already knows doesn't make it less true.

i remember that last year the overwatch summer games 2017 was on august 2nd and what i ate exactly one week ago for dinner was pizza from dominos that my dad got since he got off work late. im sorry i have a photographic memory but you could just stop saying stuff unless your going to take the time to look up the proof of your comments you even said you dont feel like it so then leave this post alone until you do.

You don't have a photographic memory because there's no such thing, but keep believing if it makes you feel special. Overwatch Summer games 2017 was on August 8th, actually - https://www.polygon.com/2017/8/8/16114094/overwatch-summer-games-2017-skins-cosmetics-blizzard - thus proving that no, you don't remember the exact date of an event from last year. And unless you ate pizza the entire day, you're still missing at least two meals.

Terrible idea. MLGA started good, with a list of lag switching killers. But then the list got amplified by other things and in the end it black listed Freddy players.
Your idea would end the same way. People get salty when they lose. This system would be spammed with false positives. Killer dared to look at the hook from a distance of 30 meters? Face camper!

Indeed. Any idea that automatically punishes people for reports is a bad idea.

  • @Billou said:
Azazer > Haha so naive. Sorry friend, i don't know what rank you are, but low rank (18) to more average rank (6) there is facecamp. The facecamp you said, with the breath on your face, and you can't get rescued. Facecamp exist.

Face camping does not exist. Face camping was blocking the "unhook" prompt, so that the interaction was mechanically impossible. What you get right now is simply a Killer who's close enough to grab you when you attempt the unhook.

Ruin is the perk that teaches you to hit great skill checks.
Once you do, it's just an issue if server lags or not.
Eventually it will only take you 80 seconds to do gens with ruin, opposed ~70 with skillchecks.
Can't find ruin in 10 seconds? don't look for it.

    Skill checks are client-side.

Then you really didn't spend much time doing your research. Your idea has been suggested with countless small variations, but the core idea remained the same: if Killer in radius x around hook, execute anti-camping mechanic y.

As for the PTB in which a slowed Hook regression was tested, that was the very first PTB in September 2016: https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Public_Test_Build#PTB_.231_-_September_2016

Wow, it wasn't even last year, it was two years ago and the very first PTB. I really suck with dates and time intervals.

That sounds like a great idea!!! So like the father you are from the hook the faster the progression is? I also think that if a survivor is hooked and the killer is far gens should go considerably slower

That's the gist of it - go past a certain radius, and the Entity progression is faster and speeds up more the further you are from the hook. This would put pressure on the Survivors to rescue, as opposed to putting pressure on the Killer to prevent rescues, and reward Killers for leaving the hook.

where is said proof of this being tried and abused by survivors? or did you just see the post and fall off the deep end.

It was tried in a PTB last year, if I'm not mistaken. If you haven't even been around that long, you have no business telling me that I've "fallen off the deep end" when I tell you this is a bad idea that has already failed. Furthermore, absence of punishment is not the same as a reward.

  • I suggested faster progression the further away a Killer is from the hook (starting after a certain radius), but Survivors shot it down. They just don't want Killers to be rewarded for playing in the way that they want, for some reason.

  • Already tried and abused by the Survivors, like everything else. Camping will never be punished. Deal with it.

Again, I think the crow idea is a legitimate one. I'm not a noob, but when you play with noob killers or noob teammates (due to randomness) it makes for an unfun playing situation. I'm not saying nerf the killers but apply the same anti-camping crows that survivors have to put up with.

If the Killer is a noob, how come you're the one who lost?

getting hooked isn't the same as losing. I'm doing fine, thank you. It was a suggestion for more fun play. I've played both Killer and Survivor and Killer is way way easier to get massive point games.

You lost at stealth and lost the chase twice. That's losing in my book. But sure, define "losing" and "noob" in a way that doesn't include you if it makes you feel better...

Thanks Orion. I was thinking more of what I've noticed from watching other players and what could help make the game more fun for all. Again it would not stop or prevent camping just increase the likelihood such killers would have motivation to try something else.

Punishment is not motivation. Camping is here to stay, so either stay off the hook or learn to take the loss.

As opposed to you showing the video and nothing happening because players can't ban other players. You filed a report, the team will analyze it. If people weren't abusing the report system, they'd get through it a lot faster.

  • @Justicar said:

The name and shame rule exists because of mob mentality. Justice is not equal retribution and people aren't guilty just because it looks that way to you, no matter how much knee-jerk reactionaries want to believe otherwise.

  • In theory, the Survivors are supposed to know when to leave others behind on the hook and do so regularly. They don't want to get to know each other. Imagine if you got to know people whom you knew would leave you to be killed and vice-versa.

There really is not much to prevent Killers from face camping or camping in general, which is a bit unfortunate.  I just buy time and let my teammates take advantaged it.

A perk might work though.  I literally just thought of the idea while posting this - they could add a perk called Entity’s Favor for Survivors.  Basically the perk applies the blindness effect to killers if they are too close to the Survivor that is hooked assuming they have the perk equipped.  The additional ranks would improve the range of the effect.

Hopefully you guys like the idea.  It would help prevent camping and tunneling unhooked Survivors as it encourages Killers to go after other Survivors.

Why should the Killer be forced to play in a sub-optimal way just because you can't handle losing?

    Camping is sub-optimal way -_-

there are only small number of build where camping actually helps. Otherwise Camping from first hook actually hinders killers ability to win.

Camping is only sub-optimal if the Survivors don't feed. In any case, that just makes it worse - why should a sub-optimal play be made even shittier?

Just saying "Not today, it was a rumor" whould have solved this.

Everyone knew it was a rumor. Stop pretending otherwise.

  • Please, stop pretending they spread the rumor or forced people to accept it as factual. Everyone did it to themselves, and the reasonable people took the "Soon" statement as the joke it was.

    1. It was meant as a joke, since it's become a community meme, and that's how people should've taken it.
    2. They don't know for sure, which is why no date was stated. Even if they did say it and then failed to meet the deadline, they'd get a bigger shitstorm.

    You can't fathom fun?

  • I sabotaged a hook near a generator that was next to the exit because I knew the Killer would come for me eventually, and I wanted the safety of not having that hook around in case I was caught. I failed to see the second nearby hook, but had I 99% both and dropped them almost simultaneously, I wouldn't have been hooked. Just the time spent to carry me from one to the other was enough for me to almost completely wiggle free.

  • But if you wanna watch me rank up/die with Survivor (stealth play only), I'm gonna stream it tonight, in roughly 20 minutes. I'll make a thread in the Media Lounge.

I don't really play Nurse all that much, TBH. I just like that she's the one Killer that puts the fear of the Entity into Survivors' hearts. Furthermore, since I've adopted a more casual playstyle, I had to let her go, or else I'd find myself at high ranks very quickly.

There was a date posted on the dbd wiki for 2 weeks. This date was based upon the schedule for clown. A company letting that sit there for 2 weeks and not giving us at least a release date today is "unprofessional at best and disrespectful to your community at worst".

The wiki is not run by the devs, and it was made very clear that it was speculative.

And I was very clear, leaving up a false date on the wiki without a plan to give a date was (say it with me) "unprofessional at best and disrespectful to your community at worst". Bonus points for having their community manager flaunting around the forums saying "soon" to all the hype posts. Maybe she isn't supposed to give us information, but then why is she increasing expectations?

Imagine if they had just said a week ago (or shoot, even 5-6 hours ago) that they have no release date yet, they would've avoided this mess.

None of the devs left a false date on the wiki because they have no control over it. You have based your argument on a faulty premise.

You run a game company and have an upcoming dlc that you know many people are excited for. You see a false release date based on your previous releases pop up on the wiki for your game and decide to NOT correct that date in any way. All the negative emotions that stem from that are directly on the devs, they allowed people to be misled when a small "release date TBA" would've stopped this entire situation. Just because they didn't put the date there doesn't mean their negligence in correcting the date was an "okay" way to handle the ordeal.

They allowed nothing. You assumed a fansite's information was an official statement from the developers - despite the fact that the fansite made it very clear the information was speculative - and are now looking for someone to blame other than yourself. You and only you are to blame for your false assumption.

Careful with the fallacies there, I assumed nothing. I knew the date was speculative, but that doesn't change the fact that it was based on release patterns and left up without any plan to correct the information. To be honest I don't even know why they are letting this happen, it is killing their hype and is going to easily lose them sales.

"Left up" without any plan to correct the information. Correct to what if no further information is available? There was a fat, red "not confirmed" right after the date. If people can't be bothered to read, it's their fault.

The devs are not at fault in this case, solely the community who can't read.

The "not confirmed" was added a few days ago, and was solely added as a "cover my butt" move from a FANSITE. If a fansite is doing damage control then you would think the company in question would have some sort of plan to avert people from thinking it was today.

They did have a plan. Unfortunately, it relied on people understanding the difference between a rumor and an official statement. In short, it relied on people being somewhat intelligent. That's where the plan fell apart.

A plan that involves "everyone needs to assume that we will have no pattern to our releases and will not address any sort of release date" is a really ######### plan. I wonder if you can actually find another company that has such a lackadaisical approach to such a large money making event like a dlc release.

The plan involved people listening to official statements (roadmap, streams, Twitter) instead of taking speculation as fact. It's your fault.

  • I understand it as well, but in this community, having a modicum of understanding is anathema.

    It's mind boggling.

Because when they did and the releases were delayed, they got ######### for it. Now the official release date is "when it's ready", though they do give a specific interval of when it's due for release.

1 … 306 307 308 309 310 … 343
