One out of the 4 survivors still start as the obsession. So if you're the unlucky one that get's the obsession first. You're not going to get picked right back up to use it. Which still other perks to use so you don't just wait.
The perk no longer gives you a chance to be the obsession either.

I wish everyone just moved to PC. Never saw the point of consoles, such limited use. Communities seem to be more immature as well.
I guess some mild system could be useful: instead of getting a 5 seconds delay every time, it could be 10-30-60 and maybe more if quitting lobbies in a row. But then again, there are so many survivors who just ignore they have 300< ping and stay in the lobby, so many of us are often forced to quit and start another lobby.
No perfect solution I guess.
Because console users bought into the propaganda that consoles are better, even though that's demonstrably untrue.
-
The perk's power has not been changed. Tier 3 (the highest grade) remains the same. This is a QoL change, by definition. No amount of rhetoric is going to change that. End of story.

A good fix could perhaps be that the 60 seconds is counted only while you are alive and then stops once downed so if a killers downs you at 59 seconds the DS would be locked in no matter how long you spend in the downed state.
That's absurd, given that it takes four full minutes to bleed out. The perk is fine as it is in the PTB. It gives you a free escape when you actually need it (when someone performed an unsafe unhook) rather than whenever the ######### you want.

@Orion That's True, I can agree with you on that. Yea, Unbreaka-bill is a good to next choice or no-mither if you're ballsy enough mixed in with tenacity. But it's going to suck regardless if "You Are" the survivor who starts with obsession, Also I just wanna find a way better solution to the change that's still fair to survivors and killers while keeping the perk tried and true to itself. But other than that there's a few more issues I can complain bout like hit boxes.
You BECOME the obsession after using the perk. Being the obsession is no longer required for the perk to be usable.

To be clear: black pip means you neither gain nor lose pips.

No, black pip is what you've dubbed the safety pip.

And because of that BS, killers dodge survivors who dont ready up. Its a never ending circle =)
I prefer to bite the bullet and not take items nor dodge them, but that's just me, trying not to be part of the problem.

Are you saying that people who have grinded a lot don't have BBQ at tier 3?

"My point is, having a perk's main functionality only available at tier 3 made all other tiers worthless."
My argument is it's main functionality wasn't only available at Tier 3, every tier had the same abilities, just a lesser version of them. Which is the function of Tiers.
You're the one who keeps saying BBQ is useless at Tier 1 and 2, I disagree. I agree Tier 3 is better, but of course it's better, it's Tier 3.
Tier 3 is not only "better", it's the only tier of the perk worth using. That makes the tier system pointless, which is what you claim to want to avoid.

Killer main spotted
Because I think a survivor who can't win a chase is, by definition, bad at winning the chase? I mean, if using logic makes me a killer main, then by all means, label me as such. But if you want to use proper terminology, I play both sides.
-
@RoMainPuppy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/354881#Comment_354881
But BBQ's main functionality wasn't only at Tier 3. Every Tier had Aura reading (for the same amount of time), every Tier had a BP bonus. They were just better at higher tiers. Which is the point of Tiers. Higher Tier = better.
I literally mentioned the radius being the reason for the perk being useless at tiers I and II.
-
@NeonWildSurge said:
But that's the issue @Orion . All the killer has to do is not pick you back up for 60 seconds. Alas a good chunk of DBD player's don't wanna pick you up if the killer leaves because ether they're on a gen. Being chased ETC ETC. So you get screwed ether way. That's why I'm suggesting a different way to keep it fair to both survivors and killer's without it returning to a annoyance for them.
There are perks that allow you to get back up from the dying state. You can also crawl to those survivors. 60 seconds is a free escape, no matter how you look at it. Oh, and let's not forget: the killer cannot know you have Decisive Strike. That, in itself, will guarantee its activation.

Well, you are complaining about a change that only benefits newbies, so there's cause for believing that.

I could see your comparison if the convo was about NOED, before all tiers got the insta down. NOED 1 and 2 before the change were absolute garbage. But BBQ was still functional at all Tiers, maybe not as great at the lower tiers but still a valid and even meta perk.
A better comparison I feel would be when SC 1 had 30%, SC 2 had 40%, and SC 3 had 50% normal healing speed. People still used Self Care then. Now it's 50% for every tier, which means why bother grinding for SC 3 unless you really want that medkit buff (which is not what most people want SC for)?
The comparison is valid regardless. My point is, having a perk's main functionality only available at tier 3 made all other tiers worthless. Right now, we have the perks' main purposes available at all tiers, with slight improvements on the perks' "side effects" in other tiers.
BBQ was hot garbage at tier 1. The radius was so big, a survivor would have to be standing still until you got there for you to actually benefit from the perk's main use.
-
The only way for the killer to deny you DS after you've been unhooked is by literally giving you a second chance (60 seconds of doing nothing to you). Either way, you get your second chance. The perk is going to be fine.

I've always found them overpriced. True for all games it seems.
Having said that I've always felt the dlc was cheaper than it could be so it kind of balances out. Better to have the dlc cheap and the optional cosmetics expensive.
@KillerRaccoon True that 80's was cheaper but lets be honest whats in the store now blows the 80's suitcase away.
Most people find skins overpriced or underwhelming no matter the price of the game relative to the skins (or just the absolute price of the skins). I've seen people complain about €3 skins in a €60 game. I've seen people complain about free skins in a free game. I've seen people complain about free skins in a paid game. No matter what, people will always complain.

weird to bring in skill on a topic about tunneling
You can't win a chase. That's why you never stop being chased. I think it's weirder to complain about the killer taking advantage of your lack of skill.

I only want one licensed killer at this point: Candyman.

I know some survivor perks got buffs too, the Kindred buff for example has a similar "problem" to BBQ. There's not enough of a difference between Tiers now to make Tiers matter much at all.
I'd rather have tiers matter a little bit than some tiers just being worthless.
-
@RoMainPuppy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/353588#Comment_353588
I don't think something has to affect all tiers to be considered a buff. I would classify tiers 1 and 2 of BBQ now buffed. Not saying they're OP, or that they need a nerf, just that they got buffed.
If the perk overall is the same, then this is just a QoL change.

The argument that "the game's cheap, therefore high prices on skins are OK!" is pretty #########, @Orion .
No, the argument is that the price-to-gametime ratio is so low (i.e.: the game is exceedingly cheap relative to the amount of playtime you get out of it) that it's not an issue if the skins are more expensive than average.

There's a reason I call people who get easily excited for skins "cattle". They don't see the problem with $10 dollar skins and will happily purchase anything new Behavior pump out.
It's the same sort of people who pre-order AAA games, or buy "Deluxe" editions or other ######### that turned the gaming industry into such a garbage dump.
Don't compare DbD to that garbage. Most people have invested thousands of hours into a game that costs €20 (€81 if you buy all the chapter DLC). Even if the skins are overpriced (I wouldn't know, I don't care about skins), the game itself is dirt cheap compared to the literal hundreds or thousands of hours of entertainment it can provide.

The third sentence in the 9 month old OP says "it's not about money, it's about value" I'm sure you know the difference between the two.
He didn't directly disagree with the post and I didn't say he was wrong.
Stop being unnecessarily inflammatory.
Value is a subjective attribute, and thus different people ascribe different values to the same item. To say that it's about value is to say that the OP, personally, doesn't think it's worth their money, which is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

People who think “don’t buy it,” is a good argument need to put their dad’s credit card away for a couple days. People who spend their own money have a sense of wanting value for their buck, and BHVR has just made a paradox of charging insane prices and cutting out so many potential customers. At 5$ an outfit I can confidently say there would be 5x as many sales. But as long as fornite charges 20$ an outfit, BHVR will continue to feel 10$ is a bargain for a pay to win game (yes, it is pay to win, you have to buy chapters to get rlly amazing perks and some great killers (spirit, Myers, clown, pig, etc.) or spend years waiting on the shrine to give you the perks you want).
It's not P2W. The top two killers (Hillbilly and Nurse) are free. You also don't need DLC perks to succeed, that's just silly.

The perks already have diminishing returns due to how the math is done on stacking debuffs. Given that you also have the choice of perks, as @Delfador and @tt_ivi_99 mentioned, this is a non-issue.

It's not nerfed. There is no map bigger than 128 m, and the lower tiers were buffed. It's just standardizing how things are written.

So far all we've got is "God secret oil/press/net hey!". The last symbol is untranslatable. I think the last three symbols may actually be a single word, but due to the nature of the language, this makes the translation somewhat difficult, as a single character can have multiple pronunciations.
-
New update: it may not be gibberish after all. We assumed it was Akkadian, but it might be Sumerian. The symbol I couldn't understand, which looks like an asterisk, is Sumerian for "God". I'll get back to you with more news.

Hmm...guess we'll find out
We have the textures for the tablet in the highest possible resolution. I've ascertained that the entire tablet is a single string of characters repeating itself over and over again. Either it's gibberish, or the string itself is the message.

I know it's not gibberish. Now, I'm not sure if it's still like this, but I remember reading that they have been trying to translate this language for decades with little or no progress, they have probably translated quite a lot by now so you might be able to find something
Keep in mind, though, that the devs didn't travel back to Babylon to learn the language and then put it on the tablets. If it's not gibberish, they likely used an online tool, meaning we can do the same, only in reverse.
-
Trust me, if it's not just gibberish, we should be able to figure it out. This isn't like the Entity's language in those weapons that goes untranslated to this day because nobody can even figure out what language it is. This is cuneiform, which has been studied to death.
-
@LCGaster said:

She is Babylonian in fact
Well, duh. That's why I immediately went for cuneiform, the first (proper) written language. However, it has many variants. Akkadian cuneiform is Doc's best guess.
