The best killers can't pip now

So i'm watching my favorite killer players run amok on the ptb. They are smashing people every other game.

But they aren't pipping. At best they get black pips.

I saw a few kill all 4, with 5 gens left, and depip.

Why? Cause they didn't hook them 10 times.

And yes, you're gonna say chaser is bugged. It is, but even giving them those points, they would have only black pipped for what is universally considered a perfect game for a killer.

  • Survivor mains are saying new ranking is great. Probably because they never play killer.

  • I think this pipping system won't see the light of day since the entire community seems to hate it.

  • I’m seeing good survivors hating on it as well, I don’t think any red ranks who don’t de rank are happy.

I was away at the time so you'll have to humor me, but wasn't Legion universally hated in the PTB?

  • For me good news, finally out of the sweaty red ranks

    Isn't Legion STILL universally hated?

  • Im a killer main and I like the new system.

WIth the new system only the real viable killers will be able to rank up and I wont be forced versing optimal survivors with my trash killers =)

They didn't have anything to fall back on for legion. They had a product they made that a chunk of people didn't like. It was release that product, and change it in the future, or release nothing. Which wasn't a choice, they refused to even delay him.

This is a change to an existing system, they have a fall back. I'm hoping they don't implement it though.

  • Truth hurts but yeah. We still hated.

  • New pip system is fantastic, pipping should be hard and damn near impossible in red ranks. im tired of pushing rank 1 after a reset in just a few days.

nah dude. When a perfect game nets you a depip, the system is broke.

Honestly I doubt that you can depip with 4 kills 5 gens unless you moried.

  • Whenever all your survivors disconnect for no apparent reason then you shouldn’t de-pip.

    You can. That's the problem.

  • @master if they all suicide on the hook then you de-pip

  • Yeah you don't hook all 4 survivors at least once in the red ranks, you might aswell pack your bags, cause you'll be lucky to black pip. You don't hook them at least twice each you might aswell stop.

Then if you are survivor... If the killer only made a few hooks... Forget it aswell... Killer never finds you cause you like stealth?.. Forget it. There is no stealthing in red ranks if you want to pip, you have to be chased at some point, or basically stay in the killer radius hiding the whole match.

As survivor, the killer needs to run a perfect match for more then 1 survivor to white pip in the match, if they don't every survivor in the match will be lucky to black pip.

If the survivors play too well against the killer, they hurt the team, since nobody will earn enough emblem points.

Then if the survivors say.. ######### it... and don't save anyone and let the killer start hooking them all to kill em... They just screwed over the killer and forced them to depip.

    LULS

    Love it!

  • They messed it up completely, should have just remove it altogether. Lol.

actually, if you gen rush the right way, you will black pip every time as a survivor. You just have to live.

  • Here is another scenario: You the killer killed three survivors one killed them selves on the hook for their friend you never found, then they jump in hatch. Both of you de-pip.

Yes, but they are not going to delete a character. This is a change to the pipping system that can easily not go through if the feedback is that negative on it.

  • That's the problem with the emblem system. You're entirely dependent on the opposing sides. If as a survivor you rush the gens and get out quick you'll probably safety. If as a killer you're too efficient in killing you'll safety.

  • I just came from a game where a meg was doing nothing but gens and crouching, she didn't even have Urban Evasion on but she crouched everywhere she went, and she was rank 3, i am actually hoping they do something about this, because you shouldn't be able to do just gens and get out, crouch everywhere and still be able to pip, a play-style like that doesn't belong in red ranks. Period, you can argue till your face turn blue, it just isn't fun.

Why does playing stealthy not belong?

Why is your definition of fun more important than that players?

That is the thing with fun is subjective and your way may not be enjoyable for others, you have no right to determine who and what playstyle deserves to be in red ranks, you play however you wish and let others do the same.

This is one example of what is wrong with DBD, it's play my way or else your doing it wrong and are a bad player, it's just a bunch of made up rules.

  • That's because the main goal isn't to play efficiently on the PTB.

Survivors and killers are supposed to farm each other to ensure pips. It's at least only way that I see since all my 3k and 4k games were either depips or hardly blackpips.

  • Its same for survivor and killer.

You really need a close back and forth game to pip. Plenty of hooks and unhooks.

If one side does really well and dominates the other then you get nothing.

Except the emblem system shouldn't punish stealth players. It shouldn't also force you to get into a chase because the killer wasn't able to find you. It is like saying the killer is bad and couldn't find you, so you lose out because of that.

Basically what you are trying to say is.. .That survivor is bad since the killer wasn't able to find them and they should be punished for it.

  • Wait Chaser is bugged? What's wrong with it?

The Emblem system has always been dumb in my opinion because it encourages you to give the opposing side a decent chance to win and punishes you for playing efficiently. The pip and Emblem changes implemented in this PTB just make it even dumber. I'm really hoping both of them do not see the light of day.

  • @HavelmomDaS1 welcome to the new sweaty purple ranks.

  • So the current 'pip' system is there to separate new players from experienced ones so that:

    • New players can have fun without being face rolled
    • Experienced players can be challenged without feeling it's too easy

Once this new 'pip' system is in place everyone's being tossed in together making the 'pip' system irrelevant for all bar ego for the soul purpose of attempting to fix the fact that Experienced players are having a hard time getting matches because of lack of players in end game this will cause two things:

    • New players will be facerolled and leave without giving dbd a second chance.
    • Experienced players will get more matches but wont feel challenged because they'll mostly be up against new players.

Because of that I'm not sure if this new 'pip' system is a good thing.

    Just saying.

  • Pretty sure the emblem system in the PTB is bugged and they will fix it.

    Exactlty!

I'm not one of those people who enjoys looping a killer for 5 gens. I tend to like hiding from the thing that's walking around the map trying to kill me.

But now I'm punished because the killer chased one person all game and I didn't jump out and slam pallets and tbag for attention just to get chased.

Not that I wouldn't even want the attention of a killer who has obviously proven that all they intend to do is tunnel someone to death. That's if they would even have an interest in me, since those people only have eyes for the first survivor they hook.

  • But if "the best" can't, then no one can pip.

And if no one pips, they'll absolutely change it.

    So nothing to worry about.

Unless of course, they're not actually the best. 😉

I'll tell you why stealthy play does not belong, and why most people that do it are bad and shouldn't be in red ranks. The only fun thing in this game is the chase, when you get in a chase with the killer you're in a run for your life, what you do now is gonna change the outcome, whether you stay off the ground or whether you eat dirt.

And time and time again i have seen people run UE and they don't know what they are doing, they crouch everywhere and hide and play like cowards, then when they get chased, they don't bother to try and mind-game, they go down in seconds, where as with me i go down usually when 2 gens pop, at least with me i was able to buy my team some time, with the person running UE they didn't do anything worth a damn to distract the killer.

I am not saying that people should play how i want them to play, but when you are sitting there, complaining about how the killer always is able to down you and how you suck at chases, maybe try this, take off UE and put on something else that will help you, i used to be scared when i encountered the killer, but when Windows of Opportunity was released i found running the killer to be extremely easy, my chases lasted longer and i bought my team enough time to get gens done.

Now you tell me who would have a better chance of surviving at red ranks. Someone who has done nothing but crouch around and do nothing but hide and do gens and get out? Doing nothing to distract and buy their team time? Or someone who is willing enough to go out of their way to try and get good at the game and buy their team enough time to get out?

  • @Detective_Jonathan

That is really not true. The fear of evading the killer is also fun.

Games like Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell didn't become popular because you got chased by enemies, they became popular because it was about getting past the enemies without being seen.

Nobody likes those games here the killer is preoccupied with one survivor the whole game, but narrowly evading the killer when they come looking for you, that tension can be fun too.

  • id say its gonna be hell for lower rank survivors, as they will face a LOT of way better killers than themselves. and high ranks are gonna be empty af.

i just hope this aint coming through the way it is rn. i get it, thousands of ppl complain about camping, but ffs why such crucial nerfs? what if i get a total wipeout as killer in a couple of seconds, cuz they basementrushed my trapper? am I going to be punished for THEIR mistake with a depip??

and i know there is going to be a ton of ppl say "Oh JuSt PlAy BeTtEr As KiLlEr", but some of these nerfs just completely screw over defensive killers like trapper. i mean, am i seriously going to get a camping penality on my chaser emblem for setting up traps? my trapper main heart is bleeding.

  • Really? Is there a video about that? Id like to see that lol

Firstly you just stated what you find fun, the chase, while other may agree it's fun they also may like to evade the killer by using the surroundings getting a thrill at not being caught, see how that is subjective!

Now you are just projecting how you think you are an amazing player, some player prefer to try and juke as looping is not skillful and it can feel cheap but hey if that floats your boat play how you wish.

Using Windows of opportunity doesn't help your case here, I could also say no good red rank player would run that perk it's not needed once you gain a little knowledge of the maps and there are other much more worthwhile perks.

The thing is you don't know what they did without following them around the whole game, they may crouch yes but they may also be valuable to the rest, who do you think did those gens while you looped till 2 gens are left? All you keep saying is they don't deserve to be in those ranks as you think it's not the way to play.

  • They needed to make pipping tougher and double pipping almost not happening.

It is a bit extreme. Survivor pipping should be harder. It was about right before, a bit easy in red ranks though.

  • I mannaged to pip once or twice during most of my playtime at Rank 1, most of my matches resulted on me losing a pip or black pipping, im always getting 4 or 3 kills, but as long as survivors keep DCing or suiciding on hooks, there is literally nothing i can do to get a pip.

    #PrettyGoodJobSoFar!

  • From now on, why even bother? They won't give you peanuts for ranking up

Both stealth and looping belong, if anything the best survivor should be able to do both. They should be able to adjust their playstyle to the killer/situation. So stealth is fine until they're found and then they should be able to loop.

I do understand where you are coming from though. In my experience those Urban Evading around the map at red ranks are usually no good at looping and go down in 5 secs. It's especially fun being hooked and watching the obsession being chased while one of them crouches from across the map to unhook you before realising they'll actually have to run to get to you before you go struggle phase.

With regards to pipping, something does need to change. I played a game against the Pig last week on The Game. 0 gens were done and I pipped, albeit I done most of the unhooking/healing and ran the killer for longest and got a few stuns. Wasn't enough time for my potato team to find ruin and do a gen. They literally just kept dropping when they were found.
