@Almo I had a friend test it, and it does indeed last four minutes. Thus, a 50% speed reduction.

Another poster had it right when they said it's not the velocity of the nub decreasing by 50%, it's the amount of time it takes the nub to travel a particular distance increasing by 50%.
It's an imprecision of wording, and I'm sorry if it has caused any confusion.
Usually I'd be glad to take a dev at their word, in particular a fellow physicist, but given that the same person who said a 50% speed decrease translated to a 50% time increase also said that traveling at 5 m/s for 10 seconds would allow you to travel 70-ish meters, I'm hesitant to believe this until someone can confirm it.

How can i close a closed hatch to open the exit gates myself what?
You can interact with the gates directly (if they're already powered) and open one or both of them. That will also trigger the EGC.

@Almo said:
Clarification:
The EGC lasts 2 minutes if nobody is dying or hooked. If someone is hooked or dying, the timer moves more slowly, at a rate such that the maximum possible EGC time is 3 minutes.
Put this way, there is no room for any mistakes in arithmetic. As a guy with an MSc in physics, I can do 3-dimensional boundary-valued partial differential equations, but I do make mistakes in basic arithmetic. :D
Except that's not what we were told. We were told it slowed down by 50% when someone was hooked or dying, which would bring the maximum possible time to 4 minutes.

Didn't get a chance to confirm, as I only had a moment to glance at the video, but I think a link to Killer footage is in the description?
I was watching the video here. I didn't read the description.

This is a PR disaster but he looks very well designed and rogue ish.
Seems really easy to notice he's there though due to the red stain and the terror radius only going away for a couple of seconds.
Should wait until PTB before making any assumptions but he does liook really good and very creepy.
Imagine him on dark outdoor maps peeking behind a tree!
We don't know if it's just a couple seconds. We've no idea what the killer is doing, maybe he's just turning it off for a second or two. That's why I wanted a video from the killer's perspective.

No video from the killer's perspective?

That's correct but my point still stands, why have a cap?
Because without a cap, the slowdown would be infinite (meaning, the timer would be paused).

If what they said is true then I don't know why they have a slow cap.
If they do have a cap, then it's not a 50% slowdown, it's a 50% time increase.
-

Y'all he's saying that the person will die on the hook whenever there is 1 minute remaining on the EGC timer (2 minutes passed) assuming they was hooked at the very beginning of it. Therefore, 2 minutes passed during the hook slow and 1 minute remains on the collapse timer, this adds up to a 3 minute EGC timer.
However, y'all are right, if the hook slow applied all throughout the EGC timer then we will have 4 minutes instead of 2.
I don't know if that's what he meant because a developer said, during the stream, that the maximum timer was 3 minutes if a survivor was hooked or dying.

@Almo said:

This is not quite correct. When the timer slows down, it slows down by 50%. So if someone is hooked for the entire EGC, the amount of time maxes out at 3 minutes, not 4.
@Almo If I walk at one meter per second, it takes me one second to move one meter.
If I walk at half a meter per second (half speed), it takes me two seconds (double the time) to walk one meter.
Speed is distance traveled divided by time spent. Thus, time spent is distance traveled divided by speed. If x is distance, t is time, and v is speed, you get this:
v = x/t
t = x/v
If v is reduced to v/2 and keeping the distance constant:
v/2 = x/t'
t' = x/(v/2)
t' = x*(2/v)
t' = 2*x/v
t' is, evidently, 2*t.
I'm available to work part-time, over the Internet, if you need someone to check your math.

It's not about bumping. Some threads just require short answers. For example, threads asking for Legacy just require two letters: N and O, in that order.

This coupled with the fact there's a mend bug going about which stops players from being able to mend downed allies in EGC is just crappy.
You mean heal? Mending is for Deep Wound, which can't be applied to survivors in the dying state.

If the EGC itself is any indication, they might get around to this in three years or so.
-
@SlinkyJinky said:
@RWoodrow Yeah you'd need a pretty damning example of 4k slugging all with footage and log it as an advanced report to even get a look in.
No, slugging just isn't reportable at all. It's not holding the game hostage.
-
Personally, when I manage to get all survivors in the dying state (happens unintentionally because I only run a slugging build on one killer and I don't play that killer at all), I try to hook them one by one. If they wiggle, I let them bleed out.
I'm not taking the chance that they'll be able to wiggle free (which is detrimental to me) just so I can do them a favor by hooking them. If they want to be hooked, then they should stop resisting.
Right now, however, it's mostly people who want to see the cool new animation. It'll go back to normal in a week, tops.

@ColgateAdvancedWhite said:
It is an unfun thing to do but I don't think there is a rule against that.
They should implement some sort of checkmate detection and end the game to avoid these kind of "game is obviously over but why am i forced to wait" situations. For both killers and survivors
They did that. It's called EGC.

geez, I didn't notice your downvote count I looked at it a few times noticed it was a bit high it seems to have grown tremendously why do people hate you so much?
Some people can't tell the difference between someone relaying information and someone expressing an opinion. Others just like to pretend.
For example, if I tell someone that the devs said so and so in response to an issue, they act like I'm the one expressing that opinion. If I tell someone that players do [insert annoying thing here] because of [insert poor justification here], they act like I'm defending the practice.
In short, some people hate me because they ask questions that they don't want the answer to.

That's what you think. Mushwin got a big head start, but I seem to have a few stalkers who're downvoting every comment I make, no matter what it is. I've already surpassed Mushwin. Paradoxically, I also have as many upvotes as I do comments, give or take a few, so make of that what you will.

I'm expecting not to pass from being pipped to depipped/black pipped just for 1 unsafe unhook in endgame collapse. Maybe I'm stupid, I don't know, but I think the punishment is too HIGH, I'm in red ranks so every emblem % counts there.
If you know the unhook is going to be unsafe but choose to do it anyway, then you deserve whatever happens to you.
IMO unsafe unhooks when the killer is in a small radius of the hook should instantly put the "rescuer" in the dying state and give them a permanent Broken status, just to really emphasize that it's not OK to farm other people, but the devs went with the softer approach.
-
@Groxiverde said:
I appreciate all the answers I'm getting and I see your point. I still think the punishment is so damn high, like -40% of the emblem, but I understand. There are situations that this punishment is well deserved for the rescuer, but in the endgame collapse is like there is no choice, u must farm him and take the risk if you really want your teammate to survive.
How awful that the killer's presence should make something risky. Seriously, what'd you expect?
-
@Groxiverde said:
Guys why is it hard to understand, I'm a killer main myself but the suggestion I'm explaining to you is very logical. In end game collapse would almost never be a real "safe rescue" because the killer will always be camping the hooked guy. The brave survivor who dares to go and unhook his hooked teammate doesn't deserve to be depipped just for that. It is unfair... At least reduce the -% of emblem he gets.
Why doesn't the reckless and vulturous survivor deserve to be depipped for performing a rescue they knew to be unsafe?

Sounds thousand times better than the current one, even if it was without the Exposed bonus.
The idea is that the basement is the Monstrous Shrine, where one can be closest to the Entity, and the Entity would reward the killer for recognizing that. Exposed in the basement would just make sense.

Just to make sure: If you chase someone down there and they unhook the only hooked one there just before you hit them, it'll do normal damage, correct?
That would have to be tested, but in principle, yes.

You kinda did say anything is justified because they're killers. So if they hold you it's okay, but not the other way around. Basically, your own words.
Except I didn't kinda say that, at all. That's just you putting words in my mouth.
-
Monstrous Shrine. I was thinking about changing it so it'd buff killers if someone was hooked in the basement, as well as any time the killer is in the basement.
Since it'd still be highly situational, the buffs would have to be appropriately powerful. I'm thinking double damage within the basement if someone was hooked there, and increased movement speed, and hit and miss recovery speeds while outside the basement.

Killers didn't have a timer either when bodyblocking people at the basement or deadends.
And that was fixed, even though the EGC would guarantee a timer.

So, if a Claudette hides in a map for 15 mins until she gets tired and gets out or until the killer dcs, that's bad, but if a killer makes you lay on the floor for 4 mins it's okay. So where is the line? In 7 minutes or in being killer or survivor while holding the game?
Survivors should not have power over the killers, ever. That's the line. It's an asymmetrical game.

Which gets addressed with bans for using hacks, so I don't see the problem. I also got a killer running Legion teleporting to me and hitting me from the other side of an obstacle. I got hit, I didn't get many bloodpoints, but I reported him for hacks to DbD and also to Steam and I'm pretty sure he'll get ANOTHER Steam ban soon (yeah, he got banned several times already in different games for hacks, so it was very obvious).
I mean, they are addressing the situation of survivors hiding forever in a map just for the sake of it, which is okay even if they're being huge hypocrites because they supported survivors doing this in the past, so this is cool. It's cool that a killer or a survivor can't be hold hostage or doesn't have to wait for 15 mins to find a survivor, but that doesn't mean making them bleed for 4 minutes is okay. It's better than 15, sure, but it's not okay.
It's 4 minutes. The only difference from regular slugging is that you get a cool animation afterward.

Survivors could never hold the game hostage. They can hide, they can teabag at gates, but not hold the game forever. Killer could hold the game forever, it happened a lot of times. Devs always supported people teabagging at gates or hiding, or farming points by looking for totems or opening chests for 10 minutes. So don't try to make a point like this is survivor-sided, because it is not. It is not okay to make any side wait for minutes, same as it is not okay to make people break their keyboards or mouses wheels in phase 2.
It's impossible to find a single survivor hiding on a large map unless you have specific tracking perks. They also occasionally have exploits that allow them to climb out of the killer's reach. Survivors can and do hold the game hostage.

"Yours are based on extrapolating from one day of unverifiable anecdotes and ignore literally all the actual evidence."
My prediction that while the frequency of this will die down, people will still do it because there are plenty of trolls in online gaming? That's the prediction you're struggling with? Lol.
And I'd rather address the issue now while there are plenty of people talking about it and the devs are even more likely to see the feedback.
The devs also have a habit of taking months to years to fix issues that should have been addressed ASAP. That's why holding the game hostage was a thing for so damn long. People stopped complaining about it as much because it became an accepted reality of playing the game. I'd rather not see that happen yet again and nip it in the bud. The only reason you'd be against that is because you feel it's justified because survivors did worse for so long. Which, again, was allowed to happen because the devs would rather pump out DLC than fix core problems with the game.
You're not even addressing either of my potential solutions to this, you're arguing to argue. And that's why I will no longer respond to you.
I'm not addressing any of your potential solutions because I don't think there's a problem. If I told you the sky was going to fall and that we needed to build giant rooftops to protect ourselves, would you suggest an alternative to the rooftops, or would you try to show me that the sky wasn't going to fall?

About body blocking? But y’all whine when survivors do it? Okay. Lol and it’s kinda hard to outsmart let’s say a billy that can rub back and forth to both gates that aren’t 95% of the time right next to each other haha I’m not saying egc is bad but when it’s one killer amen survivor I think there’s something’s they needn’t to fix
Yes, the Hillbilly has great mobility. That's his thing. There are over a dozen other killers, all with their own strong points. Complaining about the Hillbilly having an advantage when it comes to mobility is like complaining about the Wraith having an advantage when it comes to traversing the map without being seen.

Uhm I don’t mind that at all but when it’s impossible why even bother trying? I might as well put the controller down and go make a snack while I die then
Then do it. There's nothing abusive about taking the safer route. If you can't outsmart the killer, that's your problem.

Have you not repeatedly told others to stop predicting the future? 🤔
I have no doubt that it will happen less often but if you think there aren't plenty of players that will find any and every chance to be a **** to someone else then I'm not sure you've actually played this game.
Feel free to stop responding if my complaining bothers you. This is a place to voice opinions to the devs, don't feel obligated to respond like you're doing anyone a favor.
My predictions are based on what has become a pattern every single time something new has been released for the last three years, not to mention every other game ever made. Yours are based on extrapolating from one day of unverifiable anecdotes and ignore literally all the actual evidence.
If and when this is deemed an actual problem, once sufficient time has passed, then this can be addressed. Right now this is no different from people complaining that "everyone is playing killer X" after a new killer has been released. Do you seriously not see the similarities?
-
@Taelance said:
The things is that the devs implemented something to fix it.
Just that now killers feel entitled to do the same thing back, when the game could be over easy.
Problem has not been eliminated but just reversed.
Honestly I thought it was disgraceful that survivors would do that. So I think the same thing for Killers.
One day. This has been out for one day, and you're already making generalizations about how every single killer will play from now until the end of time.

Oh, bullshit. It's been out for a day or so, if we were to apply that same logic to every other release, then everyone should be playing the Plague right now. They aren't because that's not how things have ever worked in any game in the entire history of mankind.

Oh god just please stop. I even acknowledged that survivors holding the game hostage was a problem in the very post you replied to. Stop making this about you. Because something was crappy before is not a reason for it to be okay to be less crappy now. There are solutions that the devs are refusing to do.
You're right, this is about you and a bunch of other people complaining about a problem that will go away in a week or so.
When new stuff comes out, people want to see it. They want to try it. It's been the case with new perks, new maps, new offerings, new maps, new survivors, new killers, and even new mechanics. It all goes back to normal very quickly.
So instead of complaining about something that's been out for a day or so, how about you let people enjoy their new toy until they get bored?
-
@brokedownpalace said:
Here's one more wild idea: allow survivors to leave the game in the EDC but their character stays behind for the killer to do what they want with. If they want to slug them so they can see the animation, cool. If they want to hook them for the better BP yield, great.
Honestly, I defend the devs a lot but when they come in here and say "it's just 4 minutes, no big deal" it's kind of insulting. Here we got killers and survivors arguing about really petty crap and the devs could easily create a solution. It's insulting that they allowed survivors and killers to hold the game hostage before EGC and now it's insulting to say "just wait 4 minutes." People have lives. If a game is hopeless you should be able to move on to the next one or get on with your day. Cause you're certainly not allowed to DC.
Killers have been held hostage for hours at a time, with no end in sight. 4 minutes with a badass animation to top it off is a ######### blessing compared to that. And let's not forget, this will go away in about a week or so. You are literally complaining about a problem that will solve itself.
-
A long time ago, they said they just didn't want to have to create a ######### ton of new animations and other stuff for every body type in existence. Humanoid-only allows for some shortcuts.

It's not about fixing a problem for some of them it's all about revenge.
Can you blame them, when many people were all about causing the problem in the first place? Now you're asking them to bite the bullet again and deal with double standards again.
-
No, your argument was that it will keep happening ad infinitum, or close enough. The reality is that it will go away on its own, in time.
