  • No, everything does not "go back to normal" because if you turn off crossplay then you will only be matched with other people on the same platform as you who have also disabled crossplay.

You will not be matched with people on your own platform that have crossplay enabled if you have it disabled.

As an Xbox player that refuses to play vs PC if I disable crossplay it means the queue times are so long that the game is a waste of time.

I do think crossplay overall is healthy and fun for the game (especially if you're on PC) but for me personally DBD has been uninstalled off my Xbox for now.

  • Watching Bahroo play DBD before it was out on console.

I liked it so when Bahroo was not playing I started to watch Hexy & Pug play instead.

Then DBD finally released on console so I bought it.

  • I was just about to post the same thing, you know it's comming now at some point, one of them stupid power gauge boxes around your power icon that has to fill up again before you can use your power.

They are a "feature" of most of the modern killers with the old original ones not having one such as Nurse/Billy but after this:

"Previously, the Nurse could double blink, go through fatigue, then immediately double blink again. A recharge mechanic for blink charges has been added to limit how quickly she can perform multiple blinks."

Expect Billy to get one of these really annoying and unfun to use "power refill gauge boxes" for his chainsaw icon somtime soon.

  • Another thing, "Xbox One X enhancement".

In a game that needs to run at a higher frame rate why would an "enhancement" patch be a GOOD thing?

Look at games like The Elder Scrolls Online where the enhancement patch gives higher resolutions and improves textures at the COST of frame rate.

PS4 Pro in boost mode at 1080p no enhancement runs ESO at a much better frame rate than X1X with the enhancement patch.

Fallout 4 is another example of the enhancement patch adding higher reolution and improved textures more trees etc again at the COST of frame rate which sees a lot of players using mods to revert the changes the "enhancement" patch brought.

Destiny 2 is another example, they didn't get the game to run at 60fps on X1X so they cap it at 30fps and "enhance" it making it often run lower than 30fps as a result due to the "enhancements"

If DBD got "X1X enhancements" such as 4k instead of 1080p and standard textures bring upgraded to higher quality ones do you really think the frame rate would go UP?

  • The game runs great on X1X since 2.7 and it's about to get another "BIG" performance improvement this June with chapter 12 as per the roadmap.

The 2.7 update brought optimization improvements which on X1X sees survivor hitting 60fps and killer a little behind but it's BY FAR the best performance the game as seen in a long time.

I don't understand how anyone can think it runs badly on X1X at this point let alone compare it to the original Xbox One.

What do other X1X players think?

I hope we're getting more maps per realm. Sucks how unique realms like Gideon Meat Plant and Mount Ormond Resort only have one map to them while Coldwind Farm has 5 maps.

1 Haddonfield, 1 Meat Plant and 1 Hospital map is ALL we need of those horrible "tilesets" (killer main), personally I'd even say 1 is 1 too many ;P

This thread is going to turn into a thread about weather or not you should use Ruin though, just you watch.

It's already started and the thread only has a handful of replies.

The game has never ran better than it currently runs on console.

It's not perfect, but I'll take it.

Indeed, runs just fine as survivor and a little bit less so as killer but still great on the 1X.

I can still remember launch day on the original Xbox back then what we had was terrible.

I'd love to see some sort of frame rate counter on the 1X version todayy with 2.7, I'd wager it's running between 50-60fps depending on killer/survivor/map.

  • Runs great on mine almost as good as other 60fps titles such as Overwatch, Warframe, BO 4 etc.

No idea why its bad on your 1X though, I use a 50" 1080p (non HDR no 4k) TV but can't see why that would make it run better on mine compared to yours.

  • I really wish you could see how amazing the game runs now on the X1X which is also "on console". (50-60fps)

I wonder if all those still on the original base PS4/Xbox will invest in the PS5 (announced) or Xbox 2 (if they call it that) which may be as early as 2020.

How old are the base consoles now anyway, (looked it up) they will be 6 years old in November, TBH I thought they were older than that.

  • Yep as unbelievable as it sounds (for the X1X at least) 60fps has become a reality.

I didn't think they would do it when they made that statement post about it either but the last patch has been amazing for the 1X.

I'd imagine the PS4 Pro is looking good too but there's probably more work needed for the original PS4/Xbox to run at the same performance level (IDK don't own them ).

Now I'm looking at my razer mouse and keyboard from the WoW days and wanting to use them to play DBD on console.

We don't know if it's just a couple seconds. We've no idea what the killer is doing, maybe he's just turning it off for a second or two. That's why I wanted a video from the killer's perspective.

yeah, I edited my post a little :)

  • This is a PR disaster but he looks very well designed and rogue ish.

Seems really easy to notice he's there though due to the red stain and the terror radius only going away for a couple of seconds.

Should wait until PTB before making any assumptions but he does look really cool and very creepy.

Imagine him on dark outdoor maps peeking behind a tree!

Also, look at how fast he can Tbag lol.

  • X1X Player and this new update has made a drastic improvement to the games frame rate, if I had to guess I'd say survivor is 60fps and killer around 50fps based of other games that I know run at 60fps such as Overwatch.

Amazing job, now if they can just add mouse support it would be ideal considering keyboard support is allready in the game on console.

  • Survivor on X1X is easilly 60fps, yes 60fps.

It runs as well as Overwtach for example which is a 60fps game.

Killer is a little behind but not much, even playing as Doctor on maps like the Game or the Hospital map is decent now.

Killers such as Billy on older maps like Shelter Woods feels very close to 60fps as well.

DBD isn't capped at 30fps if anyone still thought it was by the way.

If there are more improvements to come then this game will of accomplished a massive turn around in performance but of course I am talking from an Xbox One X owners perspective.

Imagine how the game wil run on PS5/Xbox 2 as "early" as next year, it will be amazing for console players.

Now all we need is MOUSE AND KEYBOARD SUPPORT!

Both the Playstation and now the Xbox family have native support but it's down to developers to implement it.

I really hope these floating tapes won't be in actual release. Are they gonna keep this crap? Looks incredibly ugly and also makes him more noticeable.

I IMMEDIATELY noticed those about 2 seconds into the animation as well.

It's as if they were added to his design just to make sure that he's not super hard to notice and to give survivors a chance at spotting him before he get's too close.

If they float and flap about as he moves he will stand out a lot more than if he didn't have them, giving that "what was that moving?! ah there he is!" scenario.

  • It's already out on Xbox by the way.

  • On my Xbox One X todays patch has made the game run tremendously better.

It was good with the last patch too but todays performance increase is nothing short of amazing considering how bad this game ran just before Christmas.

I think PS4/Pro users are reporting the same, are you guys both on the original Xbox/S?

  • On the 1X the frame rate is FAR better than pre 2.6 (playing Trapper on Autohaven map last night felt like near 60fps) and it doesn't appear blurry to me at least.

There does seem to be some kind of slight "fish eye" thing going on though, the kind of thing you see when you increase FOV above 90 in other games.

The frame rate is gorgeous though so I'll take it, if they improve it even further it'll be interesting to see how the game runs on the 1X.

A lot of Playstation users are complaining about it being blurry though so something must be up with the Sony console version.

  • It isn't 30fps locked, at least not on X1X.

Feels closer to 45-50 when playing on the older maps like Coldwind / McMillan.

Especially with less demanding killers such as Trapper or Billy.

  • Just played Trapper on Coldwind and when it's down to 1v1 the killer frame rate feels like the tutorial, 60fps.

If you can just squeeze some more optimization out of it I'd say the game running at 60fps regardless of killer/map and player count is certainly doable, at least on the X1X anyway.

Now to try Doc on a map like Haddonfield or Red Forest and see if the freame rate tanks :P

  • For the frame rate to not be crap on console, I guess PS5 and Xbox 2 in 2020/21 might do it if BHVR can't.

  • I'm starting to lose a bit of interest finally. I'll still play, and I love this game, but finally... I'm starting to play less and less.

You mentioned The Division, the new Division 2 goes live for the standard edition on the 15th or rather on the stroke of midnight just as Thursday ends your local time.

That's 22 hours from now at time of writing.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/50989/2-6-0-patch-release-and-optimization

This patch only upgrade the unreal engine to 4.21, there is not any optimization in this update.

    The patch notes say this:

"Feature - Integrated an updated version of the Unreal Engine (4.21, from 4.20)."

"This update also contains some additional optimizations for all platforms"

It says both of those lines here:

https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/360/5VENNOCL67JX.png DEAD BY DAYLIGHT | 2.6.0 – CHAPTER 11 – PLAYER TEST BUILD live at 1PM EST People of The Fog, Thank you for participating in the Player Test Build!

That appears to indicate two things, an upgrade to 4.21 Unreal Engine and some additional optimization as well.

  • Unreal Engine 4.20 -> 4.21 and "optimization improvements across all platforms" was in the patch notes for the PTB so we "should" see some kind of improved frame rate (not 60fps though) when it goes live.

I'll be no life'ing it up on The Division 2 by then tough so I'll check the forum instead :)

  • The tutorial runs at 60fps as killer on the 1X already btw, not quite the same thing but still it shows that the game "can" do it.

A large factor in frame rate on the console version when playing as the killer has to do with player count, as each survivor dies and is removed from the game in turn the frame rate significantly improves.

When it's down to the last survivor and you stand near a building or something similar such as a tree in first person the games peformance is similar (but not as good) to that of the Trapper tutorial.

Many streamers run the game at 60fps+ on PC and have no issues with overheating either.

I'd say it's certainly doable but knowing the devs it could take them a long time to get it done, unless fixing the frame rate before the Nintendo Switch version is released (does the switch version have a release date btw?) is something they are aiming for.

Not true, it only applies to menus or specific games. Gears of War 4, a MS own franchise, still doesn't have mouse support on Xbox (it has keyboard support but you can only use it for menus).

Native mouse and keyboard support rolled out for Xbox One in November 2018:

This enables both developers and players with more choice on how they want to play."

Since November of 2018 (the update rolled out on schedule and did indeed contain native mouse and keyboard support as announced) it is now down to game developers to enable mouse and keyboard support within their games not Microsoft.
The two main games to take advantage of native mouse and keyboard support for Xbox One so far are both Fortnite and Warframe amongst other titles.

  • Been playing the Overwatch winter event atm, the DBD one is next week?
Thought they didn't say when it was yet, at least it's something to look forward to next week then :)

  • I just tried this on Xbox as well which just got native mouse and keyboard support (game devs still need to support it in their game) and I was able to use WASD to move as well.
I plugged in a mouse but sadly it didn't operate the camera, I also noticed that if you hold enter on the keyboard on the pre-lobby screen the game switches to keyboard controls in the UI.
Shame we cant set keyboard controls up or they could just add M&K support via an update one day.

  • Just left the dev stream where they said that optimisation is a PASS (not a patch) and that it's... (wait for it) an "ongoing process" so I wouldn't hold your breath for a patch to fix the frame rate in the next 2 weeks of December.
I don't want to complain too much because the unreal engine upgrade made the game run better for me (especially as killer) on Xbox One "X" for sure so I'll keep the faith... for now.
We may see more improvements to performance in December or we may not, it's an "ongoing process" (the first of which was the unreal engine upgrade) so who knows when :)

  • Ask them on today's dev stream, I know I will be doing so too.
Hopefully we get some info and/or confirmation it's still comming in December as there's only a couple of weeks left.

  • @Peanits said:
It's purely RNG. Your chance of getting it isn't higher than any other map, barring offerings people use to check it out. I haven't got it once yet.

In the patch notes the new "map scheduler" was added to the game and the general consensus is that the new map has been tuned to appear more often at the moment, which certainly "seems" to be the case.

  • @Bravo0413 said:
Finishing up the download now... is it any better on console or has there been no improvement really?

It's sharper, brighter and runs a little bit better due to the unreal engine upgrade that the game runs on which was included in this update along witht he new chapter.
The patch to address optimisation later in December should see a big difference.

I must admit as an xbox one x owner I am happy with the graphical improvements and has no fps penalty. How about your views?

How smooth is it right now? Is it as smooth as PC. If it is I'll probably come back to xbox for survivor and only main Nurse on PC.

Nowhere near PC performance (as killer) hopefully the upcoming optimisation patch later this month will improve the frame rate substantially, I'd check back then.

  • I play in 720p on the One X and since the update to the new unreal engine the frame rate is better but far from good enough, oh that's playing as the killer BTW.
I hope this update did NOT include the "optomisation patch" too because if it did... oh dear.
However, if the optomisation patch is still to come then should be awesome, 720p + unreal engine update + optomisation patch should see the game running at arond 50fps on the One X/PS4 Pro hopefully.

  • Hillbilly

Hang Man's Trick - Iron Grasp - Agitation - Ruin

Had enough survivor chops for the hammer in somewhere between 2-3 hours, it was easy.
Although I did have a BBQ offering every game on top of the default 2 you start with.
90 Generators seems like the more long winded task to me especially considering the reward for Kate is a bit weak.
You're going to get event generator campers and event hook saboteurs/blockers on both sides of the coin in an event like this but with the right perks and some patience it's still not a problem and imo a lot of fun.

Only a few weeks until Chapter 9 in September now too :)

  • Wonder how long it will be before he comes back "again".

When someone REALLY quits a game you don't make a goodbye video/speech or a big long post on forums as to why you're quitting etc.
People who do that just want the developers to take note and change the game so they can keep playing because they're addicted and don't want to leave the game.

Here's what you do when you don't want to play a game anymore and are actually quitting for good.
I played World Of Warcraft from 2004 to 2013 for that 9 years I was totally addicted.
One day, I decided I would quit, I uninstalled the game, deleted the forums from my favourites and turned the PC off... that was 5 YEARS ago now.
I didn't make a goodbye video/forum post etc, I simply uninstalled it and walked away having never looked back since.

"I'm quitting guys, here's my video / long forum post to explain why, goodbye guys it was fun while it lasted!"

    Translated:

"I'm addicted to this game and don't want to quit, please hear why I'm leaving and make changes so I can keep playing! I'll leave for a few days/weeks and be back again soon to give it another go!"

And yes I dealt with bad apples on both sides, but I like how Killers pretend their side are innocent angels while also posting how they'll troll the other side.

Trying to stop survivors doing generators as the killer particularly the special ones for the event is neither petty or being a bad apple and has nothing to do with trolling.
I'll be going for any generator that is being worked on weather it's an event generator or not, regardless of that it will still be difficult to get event generators done (or any generator for that matter) vs Overcharge, PGTW and Ruin.
You make it sound like I'll be ignoring everything besides event generators and camping them which is NOT what I said.

So a Survivor sabo'ing your hooks to keep Survivors from being hooked is ok then?

You just said "good luck doing gens with that build", thats petty.

    You're stupid.

Yes it's fine by me , I don't mind survivors trying to sabo event hooks, I'll just use Hangman's Trick like last time during the Howling Grounds event where it was no problem then too, I enjoyed the challenge of it tbh.
Good luck doing event generators and any generator as it's the build I usually use to slow the game down as gens get done very fast nowadays.

If survivors wanna be trolls then we have every right to do so in retaliation.

If Killers want to troll, then we have every right to retaliate!

See the process of toxicity and BM that creates? So cause this group of Survivors sabo'd hooks, this other group of Survivors has to deal with me running OHKO Ebony Mori Huntress blocking the event gens.

Petty breeds petty. Try to be above it? Yes?

As long as we don't see any attempts to sabotage the event hooks we won't tryhard.

But the guy above expressed clear indications of trolling all Survivors after he meets his requirements on Killer side and denying the event token for them. Clearly you're blind to your own side's toxic behavior to not read that and see that the Killer side is just as disgusting as the Survivor side, but the truth is that there is more for a Killer to do to counter their hooks being sabo'd with Hangman's paired with IG and just having them slugged till it reforms if desperate. A Killer literally sitting on a Gen can deny it fully. He/she won't be killing anyone off, but they can stall out the game for a rather absurd amount of time if the Survivors want their tokens.

Also the Survivor side cosmetic is rather lame and uninspired compared to what the Killer's get. At least David's jacket had some wow factor to it to match the Huntress's wolf mask. This one just feels like simple recolor placed on hold. They could of at least gave her a swimsuit outfit.

I mean you really can't really make everyone agree to not do that unfortunately. I personally won't unless i have Sabo Squads trying to sabotage my hooks.

True. I'm just pointing out the Killer side is just as bad in these events. I remember getting sabo'd and getting gen rushed when trying to play it cool as Killer. I also remember MANY gen camping Nurses, Billys, Huntresses, and Leatherfaces. Hag will likely show up often this event cause she is a lot stronger.

Overall though, I remember more Survivors wanting to work together than bad groups. It's the same with regular play. The other night I had a group abusing the window glitch (they don't actually get blocked) to really stall out chases. Then they would body block and flashlight spam me when I did get someone. Painful times that make you think why you play this game. But most Survivors groups aren't that.

But always on the discussions it's a bunch of Killer mains calling it out like every Survivor is evil and mean to them while the Killers are all poor and desperate to just have fun.

That's what I got from it too.
I watched a near 30 minute video preview of things comming in Chapter 9 and the good things for killer to look forward to was... 0, zero, nothing.

  • Me too, on X1X though not PC.

  • Probably the store bug.
If you so much as even click on the "store" icon then try to play a match you will experience a soft freeze or "hiccup" every few seconds until you restart the game.
This bug was introduced when they recently added the new Ace, Dwight and "white hair" Meg skins.
Restarting the game fixes it as long as you don't click on the store icon again.
