How would they not? Killer movement towards a running survivor will initiate chase, hitting a survivor at any point will initiate the chase.
The survivor can choose not to run and instead just be hiding around a corner. If the killer hits one survivor, the other can rescue without any danger.

In the event of that, switching targets will maintain the chase ,making the entity progression continue at normal speed. Essentially them staying near the survivors running around the hook are killing the hooked one as long as they are being chased.
What if they don't trigger the chase conditions at all?

I may advocate for having EGC gate spawns be dictated by some sort of system, but I kind of agree with you on that one.
Survivors now a days blame a perk because they themselves were too lazy to stop it when they had plenty of chances.
I made a thread a long time ago saying that low survival rates are due to survivors having too many second chances.
It sounds counter-intuitive, but the same principle is observed in car crashes, for example. People who feel safe and confident in their vehicles have more accidents, since they tend to pay less attention to the road, because they believe nothing's going to happen to them.
Likewise, survivors who feel safe due to knowing they have DH, DS, BT, etc., will often make stupid plays.
TL;DR: Take away survivors' second chances and they'll play more efficiently and intelligently, which will create a significant rise in survival rates.

I used to argue that NOED is bad, and only bad killers use it. Now I realize its just bait for bad survivors to die on.
If any person with a brain knows the killer has NOED and is camping the hook you DON'T go after that survivor unless you wanna die with him. But people don't learn do they?
They did just that when NOED lasted forever and couldn't be disabled. It's like if they didn't have as many second chances, they actually played better.

Nothings perfect i'm afraid, but room for improvement is there.
Oh, definitely. Now that Starbreeze is out of the picture, the devs have full creative control, at least where game design is concerned. Obviously license holders have some say in how their characters look, but probably not the perks.

I'm not familiar with these new things you guys came up with.
I don't remember anyone using that before I left so, all I remember was people posting stuff with a Legion pin image at the end of their post.
It's not that new, but it's understandable.
On-topic: Yes, it has come a long way, but I don't think it was all good. Getting out from under Starbreeze's thumb was definitely a step in the right direction, but some design choices are questionable at best.

"fast", as in three seconds shaved off. "faster" is more appropriate. To be honest, it did save me once.
Sloppy Butcher adds 4 seconds to a heal and is considered OP by survivors. 3 seconds must therefore be quite powerful.

@SmokePotion so when killers take Nurses Calling you basically have "you heal i see you" build.
Also distortion isnt that great.
Which would cost two perks slots, and unlike A Nurse's Calling, this would only trigger after you've fully healed outside the killer's TR (which can be bigger than A Nurse's Calling's radius).

You should probably try out survive so you get a 50 50 perspective of the game instead of this killer bias, you're also forgetting survivors are actual human players, not AI. Devs want DbD to be about 3 die and 1 lives to tell the tale, like in any other horror movie or asymmetrical game. Welcome to the gaming world, Orion.
I already play both sides, thanks. Yes, I know all players are human players and not AI, but guess what? They're gonna have to learn that after ######### up during the entire round, they deserve to lose.

Still bugged, but that's what the chase is for, chasing will start the progression even near hooked survivor
Have you ever had 2+ survivors hovering around the hook like vultures? Chasing any of them is not the right tactical decision.

Man why are you so negative about such an addition? Everyone is biased towards one sides, even the devs are. We are humans with feelings and preferences. My suggestion would just filter out those extreme mains who play 99% one side cuz they are 100% biased.
Im personally not amazed by the maps of the devs, especially not the last 3 ones. And I played a lot of different game, trust me: the community can pull off some insane and awesome stuff which the devs wouldn't have even thought in their dreams about.
I know the benefits of workshops, but you don't know them or at least are just seeing and blowing up the negative sides.
Man, why do you pretend that this wouldn't be abused?
I'm not against the addition, I just don't want it implemented in a way that can be abused. Is that so wrong?

People are suggesting ideas because it is virtually impossible to open an exit gate while in some kind of chase. Which is what the prompt will be once the EGC is active, that or immerse which will have the same outcome as surrender and die.
I'm done trying to make sense with you. I can see how biased you are towards one side. Have a nice day.
So people are complaining that a chase, by design, stops you from doing anything that isn't dealing with the killer?
I'm not biased at all. That 1v1 in the end-game was earned and any 1v1 in an asymmetrical game should be in favor of the power role. It's just basic game design.
-
@HavelmomDaS1 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/476412#Comment_476412
The game keeps tracks on how many sacrifices you made as killer and how many gens you made and how often you escape. It probably also tracks how much time you spend playing each role. With that, only balanced players would be allowed to vote. Problem fixed.
Just because they play both sides more or less equally doesn't mean they're not biased, and it certainly doesn't mean they're perfect. You're also just making it needlessly more complicated when a simple fix is just restricting it to KYF.

3 kills does not mean you get to have the last one as a freebie.
There is no way to counter opening a gate while you're being in a chase. The hatch endgame FORCES you to immerse, which is yet another version of a "stand off". Just a really unbalanced one. Where is the "Hope" in that. Its not fun, its not exciting, SO, this is why people are suggesting ideas.
It's not free, which was my whole point. Survivors don't put themselves on hooks. That 1v1 was earned by the killer doing their objective, and the fact that it's in the killer's favor is just the result of the game being asymmetrical. A 1v1 should be in the killer's favor.
There's no way to repair a generator while you're in a chase either. That's normal. It's kinda the point of a chase.
People aren't suggesting "ideas", they're suggesting ways to get their free escape back. And yes, it would actually be a free escape, since survivors have to systematically fail at everything they're supposed to do to even get into a 1v1.
EDIT: Tell me, do you also believe a gate escape is "free" after the survivors repair all the generators? Because that's the same logic you're peddling here.

U could create some kind of voting system for maps + devs have to approve them first. This should solve this issue to create balanced maps
Survivors outnumber killers (at least) 4 to 1, and the devs can't get their own maps right on the first try. Sorry, but this is just one of those things that cannot make it into regular matches.
-
@Johnny_XMan said:

Sometimes the there are disconnects (Legit) ones. The hatch opens regardless of what happens to the other survivors.
Assuming that by "legit" you mean game crashes and the like, that's a problem with the game, which has no bearing on balance.
In a normal hatch closing scenario (no disconnects), the last kill is anything but free. Those three survivors didn't put themselves on the hooks.
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/476364#Comment_476364
Oh I wasn't aware that is was THAT same scenario every single time. OP Never once said "Killing 3 survivors before they fix all gens means killers get a free kill"
Nice try tho.
That (3 kills) is literally what needs to happen for the hatch to open. Closing the hatch is what needs to happen for the EGC to start. Afterward, the last survivor only has two locations that they might go to (the gates).
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
Love how people who play killers are claiming survivors want a "free escape".... but let's talk about how YOU get a "free kill". It's the same bs on both sides.
What's free about killing three survivors before they repair all the generators, then finding the hatch before the fourth survivor, closing it, and getting to the fourth survivor before they can open one of the gates and escape?
-
Depends on your region.
-
@OMagic_ManO said:
Use loop denial killers, like Huntress and Clown.
Yeah, just predict the future to know what map you're going to get so you can pick a killer suited for it.
-
In KYF, sure. For regular matches, no way. Toxic survivor mains would create heavily survivor-sided maps, and toxic killer mains would create heavily killer-sided maps.
-
True, but that's probably just the libido talking.

Oh, please. If every developer spent their time denying fake leaks, they'd never get any work done. And even if they were to deny it, people wouldn't believe them anyway!

I don't want destroy your suspections, I want more than anything that this is all fake, but it isn't.
Then it should be easy to get video proof, as opposed to easily-faked screenshots. Specifically, a recording of a monitor using an external camera, which is harder to fake than using streaming software or whatever.

@legion_main said:
@Orion problem is you often find yourself in situations where survivors D/C or kill themselves on first hook which you have no control over
Those are different problems that the devs need to fix. There's no reason to balance around unintended behavior, be it from the game or from the players.
-
I think it's fine that a 1v1 is in the killer's favor. It's an asymmetrical game, that's how it should be if you find yourself in a 1v1.

Punishing disconnects isn't going to give you this. It's just going to give you a different kind of bad teammate in a lot of your games.
Unskilled people are still infinitely more significant in determining the outcome of a trial than people who aren't there.
-
@Elegant said:

A better example would be imagine that they have rules to punish people for leaving that football example you gave, but didn't have any kind of punishment or way of tracking how the players behave on the field. So, instead of playing the football game out the angry player or players decide to fake an injury and leave the field as soon as they get angry or, the angry player decides to fumble the ball every time he got it, or let the other team run past him with the ball every time, or even blocked his teammates into the other team. Without rules to enforce this kind of bad behavior, it's kind of pointless to just punish them for leaving.
It doesn't matter what the other team did as long as they played by the rules. Most disconnects aren't due to other players breaking the rules - the real rules, not the imaginary ones like not playing certain characters or using certain perks, items, or add-ons - in any way.

Pretty soon you won't have any survivors to catch, is that what you want?
I want teammates I can rely on and opponents who can handle a loss, as opposed to teammates who will leave at the first sign of trouble and opponents who throw a hissy fit when I take advantage of their mistakes.

Imagine if they banned people from going to movies for leaving a movie half way through because it was a krap movie. I'm pretty sure the film company / cinema / actors / everyone involved in the film would soon be out of a job.
Bad comparison. Here's a better one.
Imagine if they banned people from football if they left the field when they didn't like the other team's tactics. Oh, wait, they absolutely would and have, because you don't get to do that.

Long queue times will actually kill the game. No one is going to sit there for 10 minutes as killer just to play a single game. Without those players the game dies.
Keep telling yourself that.
