October 2017 was when I began playing the game @Orion
I don't know when the review bombs occurred, but they were due to survivor nerfs.

@Hoodied said:
Just because a perk that rewarded bad play got nerfed does not mean the reviews will decrease because of it
You weren't around for the review bombs, were you?

Yeah I know it’s a suggestion really.
But they could go in a completely different direction with it. That's my point. We should at least wait until they give us the real rework before we flood them with suggestions on how to fix it. Furthermore, I'm willing to bet they're already changing the required number of hits, since that's the most obvious change you can make.
-
That's just the current rework the devs are tinkering with. It's not final.

New MoM is trash. If I see a surv with this perk next month, I'll know its you
What new MoM? Has the perk been changed in any way? All I read is that the devs were looking into changing it and explicitly mentioned the possibility they're currently tinkering with, while emphasizing that it's not final.
-
@Bongbingbing said:
The perk was broken by design, there's no doubt about that.
At least now with it requiring protection hits rather than regular it feels more balanced. It's still going to be a strong perk.
As for refunds, You should've known this was coming. People have expected a nerf since before the DLC was even released.
Keep in mind that's just one of the potential reworks they're tinkering around with.

Yeah but unlike Bubba,Billy or the Huntress for example she is still using her main weapon.
Yeah, but it's a dash attack, not a regular hit. This is like saying that every combo in a hack-and-slash game is the same just because they always use the same weapon(s).
-
@McCree said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/479161#Comment_479161
And yet she's still using her basic weapon for it.
But in a different way. The Spirit is using her weapon in the same way she always uses it, just in a specific (and arbitrary) time frame.

@Claudette_Baguette said:
So I get punished for NOT farming the unhooked survivor? I'm not sure about this behaviour...
If I go for the unhooked person they will have DS and BT, if I go for the unhooker they get MoM... Not a good design
Well, if it requires three protection hits, that shouldn't be an issue. Say you always go for the unhooker. It'd require them to be unhooked, escape, take another hit while you're hooking someone else (this is the second hook), and do it again a third time (death hook).
-
Because the Pig's Ambush is different from her regular M1 attack, whereas the Spirit attacking after a Phase Walk is just her attacking after a Phase Walk (still a basic attack, just within a very specific time frame).
-
Survivors 99% gens and force the killer to give them free unhooks.
Try thinking of rewarding killers for not camping instead of punishing them for using a tactic you don't like.
-
@Hoodied said:
Camping only punishes altruistic survivors, if you are not altruistic you will escape, literally playing the game will be much much more enjoyable than sitting there doing nothing until someone goes to unhook
Can confirm. I played with a friend of mine yesterday and we just left each other on the hook because the killer was camping.

Sure lets balance survivors around the minority that plays "SWAT squad 4man swf", that certainly won't make more casual players feel like they have to do so as well. Not to mention solo survivors.
Lets balance killers around the assumption that they're all omegablink ebony mori nurses too, that sure won't screw every other killer in the game over or anything. I mean, they COULD pick that exact loadout, so better safe than sorry right?
The problem, on both sides, is that when people do that, it completely ruins the game for everyone else, since there's no way to defend yourself against something that the game is not balanced for.

I do not dispute that it never happens. Unfortunately, some people are petty. But that some of the downvotes you get are not all from petty people.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying all the downvotes are from people like that, but a majority of them are. I usually get downvotes in clusters, like in this thread's OP, but I also get 1-3 downvotes appearing on pretty much every comment I make, no matter how innocuous or helpful, and it's those downvotes that actually make up the bulk of my downvotes, which led to me getting the crown.

I would like to admit that I often feel like downvoting you as I find your debate style arrogant and condescending. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way.
But not so much that you'd go riffling through my comments, going back six months (at least, that's the first example I found when I was looking for examples to give you in my previous comment) just to downvote those old comments, I'm guessing. You probably also wouldn't downvote me for helping out someone who was suffering from a bug and couldn't play the game.
Like I said, I know the difference.

It's a game: you want to win, the other guy wants to win, you can't have it both. If you suggested a DC exemption for the really mean move: slugging all of you but not hooking, I'd support that, because it really is only about making survivors miserable and waste their time, without any benefit to the killer. But DC-ing right before your third hook, while I admit it's not the worst kind of DC, is still a DC. Since you're dead anyway, you don't ruin your team so much, but on the other hand, you save about 20-30 seconds of your life, while losing your BP, so there's no point to it, other than expressing your frustration.
Generally, starting to make exceptions for DC-s is not a good idea.
Regarding slugging, if the survivors attempt to wiggle free or crawl to random places on the map so I can't find them, I take that as meaning they want to be slugged. I'm not taking the risk that they can get free (which is beneficial to them and harmful for me) just so I can do them a favor (which is only beneficial for them, since I'll be making myself a sandwich).

It could also be that many people do not agree with you. But it is of course easier to blame others.
Yes, people disagree with me when I state that the devs are aware of bugs and mention workarounds, or when I answer questions they asked, or go to comments I made last year - before the downvote was even introduced - just so they can downvote me, all because they disagree with me.
Trust me, I know the difference between disagreement and stalkers. Regardless, thanks to them, I'm now the King.

@NuclearBurrito I haven't played a lot of killer in the past week but I have seen a few interesting situations in streams, thats true. I have nothing against the ecg as such, it can add an interesting element for both killer and survivor.
But they need to address the situations were the killer basically holds the survivor hostage during the whole ecg when they could just easily hook them and end the game. At least if it keeps happening anywhere near as frequently as it does now. If the other player was doing a hatch standoff at least I could concede the game by jumping into the hatch or hitting the surv.
I also think, that the killer deserves to win if the survs don't manage to finish the objective. Still, I feel like the scale is tipped a little too far in favor of the killers right now. In my experience it's next to impossible to get out as the last surv. But maybe other players fair better and the statistics prove me wrong. Who knows. It just feels like it would be better right now if they just skipped the endgame timer and killed me instantly when the killer closes the hatch because its pointless anyway.
Why do you think the scale is tipped too far in the killers' favor? The killer did their job, killed 3 survivors and got to the hatch before the fourth one, while the survivors failed every step of the way, ending in a 1v1. Is the scale not simply the natural result of the trial?

imagine going on the internet and thinking you are better than someone because they spend some more time on a sight you frequent
It's the same with fandoms. Anyone less obsessed with the subject than you isn't a "real fan", and anyone more obsessed with the subject than you has no life.

Bbq appears on the shrine, very slim but it can. For the survivor that failed to be evasive how will they learn if they are kept on a hook the whole game? True , the killer capitalizes upon this mistake but camping isn't correct.
Also you could be right about rewarding a non camping killer but isnt rewarding them for something they are supposed to do a little unjust?
It's appeared twice, I think, since it was released. It's still a double standard to expect survivors to be rewarded for failure by a built-in mechanic, yet if killers want to be rewarded, they need to take a perk.
The survivor learns by thinking about what they did wrong. Maybe play a little killer as well, to see what killers see.
Camping isn't "correct" according to you. In reality, it doesn't break any rules. It's a tactic like any other. Killers aren't "supposed" to not camp any more than survivors are "supposed" to let killers hit them.
And finally, rewarding people for doing what you want them to do is the basis for literally everything in life. Do you think companies pay their employees for shits and giggles? No, they do it because that's how you get people to do things you want them to do, by making it worth their while.
-
@LastShoe said:
@Orion What if they were rewarded for a gen progress when they are camper? After all they are participating in it, they are buying time by not killing themselfes. It doesen't have to be a big amount, just something that will make stop some people crying after being camped.
And don't start with"There shouldn't be a reward for failing", well, you fail completely when you suicide on the hook when camped... you just gifted the killer with a map pressure.
I can see that as an incentive not to suicide on the hook, but how does that address camping?

Idk what to tell you, other than I disagree on it being irrelevant. In a game where time is everything this could be very crutch. Especially if the survivors are gen rushing.
The perk as it is now shaves off a little under 10 seconds and is utterly worthless in everything it does. So you're telling me that shaving off an additional 3 seconds is incredibly significant?
-
@Mr_Qwayzar said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/477168#Comment_477168
BBQ does that already and give locations. Why not give the survivor a bonus when the killer wont allow them to do anything, including gaining BP the way they should?
Because not only is BBQ a DLC-only perk that the killer has to willingly equip, but the survivor failed at stealth and failed to win the chase. Why should their failure be rewarded just because their opponent wants to capitalize on it?
Also, I want to note your double standard. It's fine if killers are punished or if survivors are rewarded as part of a game mechanic, but if killers want to be rewarded, they have to spend a perk slot.

It doesn’t need to be significant it just needs to be less situational. 😑
Again, what's the point if it's still gonna be irrelevant? If the point of buffing it is just to buff it, then you can just apply it to all the hooks. If the point is to make it useful, however, then it needs to actually do something.
-
@Star99er said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/477139#Comment_477139
It’s a passive perk, it’s not meant to be significant. Also certain killers would benefit from this more than others. It would be worth while to use for certain killers.
If it's not meant to be significant, then why are we even talking about buffing it? By your own admission, it should always be something that's not worth using.
-
@SlinkyJinky said:
Best camping fix is to make the reward for sacraficing a Survivor:
When your 12 meters away: 100bp
When your 24 meters away: 200bp
When your 38 meters away: 2000bp
When your 48 meters away +: 5000bp
So make sure killers aren't rewarded for killing unless the survivors willingly let someone die (since a third hook will guarantee you're going to receive 100 BP), and give hooked survivors absolute control over how much BP killers get (since they can suicide before the killer gets away). Totally not biased.
-
@Star99er said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/477125#Comment_477125
I feel like it would depend on how much pressure you’re putting on the other survivors. It would still be an improvement compared to the current version.
It's 13 seconds. It's not significant. Also, do you want to improve the perk, or make it worthwhile to use?
-
@Mr_Qwayzar said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/477105#Comment_477105
Survivor choses not to run they get hit and chase starts, as for the other survivor hiding that's a sacrifice of time to gen repair, and if they attempt to rescue as the killer is leaving, the killer can look behind them and intercept if they want.
They could also position themselves in such a way that they could rescue before the killer reached either of them, then run away.
I'm not gonna argue about this any more. It was tried and empirically proven to be a failure. Try to think of something different.
-
Still wouldn't be worth it. 12% faster progression would cut down a little under 13 seconds.
