  • Thanks. I'll add it to the OP.

Still say Springtrap since Ace in a Cage could also mean the same way as William Afton.

Being trapped by metal cage-like Afton is trapped in a suit full of metal.

And Carnival could just be a reference on how Fazbear Frights aka Fnaf 3 was a haunted house attraction in an amusement park/Carnival.

How does "E" fit into "Springtrap"?

  • @HaunterofShadows said:

it is we just got an E.

    Where?

  • @Exxodus21 said:

S,A, & R are the only confirmed letters. RT could have just been "retweet" since it was a retweet and they posted the red herring. The "H" was dismissed by BHVR and they said it's always been part of the saloon. The double "i" doesn't fit in with the way the other letters have been revealed. It comes from a tweet with 2 🤡 🤡 and "ii" is another way of saying two. And all of other letters have been random single letters, while the "i" was in the word "Ciircus". So it's unclear if the "i" is part of the letter hints or if it means something else.

A friend of mine looked at a screenshot of the saloon; it does not have the "H".

I bet you guys everyone at Behavior is laughing their asses off at all of us grasping at straws here.

Anyway, can someone tell me every confirmed letter we have so far? I have a small theory of what it might be spelling out.

IMO, the only truly confirmed letters are:

    SAIRH

Some people say that the devs putting "rt" in a retweet is indicative of something, but I heavily disagree.

EDIT: I'm starting to think it's Hellraiser, because the devs had mentioned they'd love to get Pinhead in the game.

I think the devs try to spell Hellraiser, I don't know why, now that I think about it, with the H uncovered, maybe they don't want to spell Springtrap and they want us to believe it's not Candyman, nor Springtrap, I think it can become Pinhead with a reference to Ace locked up as if locked in the Wailing Cube in Hellraiser.

    Yes, it could be Hellraiser.

A lot of people also don't want it. What kind of argument is that? That doesn't seem to help your case, either.

Except you said that nobody wanted or asked for it, which is blatantly false.

  • Just look into every other discussion on the subject. I'm honestly tired of having to say the same thing over and over again every time someone proposes that like it's something new.

The test showed conclusively that ONE solution did not work. That's all it did.

Then the Devs gave up on trying to fix it.

Either you weren't there, or you ignored the actual results we experienced on the PTB. I supported that idea, just for the record, but the test showed I was wrong to do so. It doesn't work.

  • @Munqaxus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2419482#Comment_2419482

Did they try another solution, besides the "Struggle timer is paused when a killer is within so much distance."

For example "Struggle timer is paused when a killer is within so much distance, the killer isn't in a chase, survivors are not present and it's not EGC". Because honestly, these conditions have an extremely good possibility of stopping camping.

They tried one thing and gave up.

The test showed, conclusively, that any punishment based on proximity to the hook is unworkable. That's all there is to it. If you want killers to stop camping, propose rewards for not camping, instead of punishments for camping.

  • I'm assuming your source isn't reliable, or else you wouldn't be coming here.

Fact is, nobody knows what EAC does or does not scan for. So it's use at your own risk, no matter what anyone else says.

  • @Rivyn said:

Their failure to be an adequate dev team. It's always irked me at just how slow they are to respond to. . . well, anything. Bugs are unresolved for years, map issues are glossed over, killers are given janky abilities, SWF is ignored, solo q is left to stagnate, perks just sit in an ever growing heap.

They do the bare minimum every few months with a one page list of fixes, put their feet up, and act like they've done something. Then half the things they do do break down almost immediately.

I just don't get why they can't give weekly fixes. Doesn't need to be much, just perk tweaks, or a few bug fixes here and there, instead of having to wait for the patch every two months. Or why they can't stomp out bugs for good. Iron Will STILL has the no audio bug, and it's been in the game for over a year. Dead Heard can still activate, and do nothing. Heck, Nurse is a walking bug herself.

This game has no serious competition. I think that's why they aren't in any hurry to change their habits. I remember hoping Predator Hunting Grounds would be that competition. Man, I had high hopes for that game.

They used to give out weekly fixes. People complained the game was updated too often and that they had to download a new patch before playing "every time".

"Also I just think personally that FNAF is just TOO high a level of CAMP in horror for DbD , personally."

How is defining camp as adjective and linking a dictionary page for some reason(which is, no doubt, a very well-perceived method of communicating on the internet) makes this phrase something other than insane ramblings? Any meaning that you could possibly extract from it is ridiculous and nonsensical, why would someone even bother to defend it is beyond me. More posts=better life mindset maybe?

Camp is an adjective and has been one for over a century. That's why I linked you to the online dictionary, so you could read it and see for yourself (or just do a little research into how, say, the original Star Trek series is described; hint, they use the adjective "camp" a lot).

The sentence may be a little awkward, but it's perfectly understandable, if you know what the adjective "camp" means.

  • @Munqaxus said:

Not addressing face-camping/proxy-camping & tunneling (When both of these are used together continuously from the beginning of the match till the end). They tried a fix and just threw up their hands and never addressed it again. They were on the right track to fix it with stopping the struggle timer, but only gave it one attempt and threw up their hands. It's about the laziest thing I've ever seen.

They dropped it because it was clear any solution of that variety was unworkable, due to the survivor gameplay it would invariably create. They didn't just try it once and go "well, this didn't work, so let's not try anything of this sort ever again", they concluded, like everyone else, that it was simply not a good solution.

  • Probably the report system. Any online multiplayer game, especially with PvP, needs a good report system due to the ######### that multiplayer games attract (you know the type, the ones who didn't get any attention as children, so now they troll because it's the only way anyone will give them the time of day). Without that, it falls apart rather quickly.

I'm sorry I have to tell you that, but phrase "Fnaf would not fit into dbd becouse game is too high-camp for my liking" makes zero sense, is ridiculous, and looks like something a kid who's just learning words would type out. I'm suprised you actually "meant" something by it.

And yes, camping is not only intended, but even natural for the game type. You have to either be delusional or entitled survivor-only gamer to disagree with that. Even if devs said what you say they said(which isn't likely btw), they only did that to appease majority with sweet words, becouse let me tell you - if they didn't intend for camping to exist, it wouldn't be there after 5 years of game's existance

The merchandise being for kids I agree with, the actual games though are definitely not for kids given how they’re designed, I definitely wouldn’t want my kids to play a game that involves child-murdering robot zombies

Like I said, look at Coraline, a book (and later, a film) for children. It may not seem child-appropriate to many adults, but apparently it was deemed as such.

    @Zokenay said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2419288#Comment_2419288

Its no really for kids though, ifs anything its for teens and above, even if theres merchandise, the actual games themselves arent, but everyone knows nobody gives an F about rating which often results in stupid parents complaining about the games being violent despite buying for their young kids -_-

Whatever FNAF may look like its for kids but definitely isnt

If you make merchandise for kids, then you're marketing to kids. Whether or not the content is appropriate for children is a highly subjective matter that largely depends on social norms, but you make merchandise that targets your audience (or the audience you hope to acquire). You don't see Caillou-themed motorcycles, for instance, because they're not the target audience.

  • @DragonMasterDarren said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2419256#Comment_2419256

People will read this and still say “FNAF is for kids” and that’s honestly pretty funny

It was marketed to kids (from what I understand, some FNAF merchandise was made specifically for kids) and the playerbase consists (or consisted, naturally they've grown up since) of children and young teens.

Just because the content may not look like it's for kids doesn't mean it's not. Look at Coraline, for instance.

  • There is no "bunny on a rock", it's just a crow and some rocks. Look at the original image, not the one highlighting compression artifacts via editing. Other than that, it does seem like it could be FNAF, but it could also be anything else.

  • @lemonsway said:

They should but they won't. They rather patch the game's coding everytime than have a new game code. On Annyversary stream they promised focusing on fixing issues and Balance let's see how they avoid doing that for the next 2 years. At this point we all realise how the game is and we just accepted playing whatever there is of it when we can get to play. Expecting DbD to be a new game is like expecting Fifa and CoD to be good aswell...

Several bug fixes and balance changes have come in the last two years, what are you talking about? Have you seen the patch notes?

  • That's not feasible. They'd literally have to stop working on DbD proper for years. That means no more bug fixes, no updates, no content, nothing. For years.

  • If he's bugged, you should write bug reports.

Freedom of speech does not exist on private platforms. You do not have the right to use a private speech platform however you want any more than you have the right to [BAD WORD] the bed in a hotel room and then demand not to be kicked out.

This argument is silly, because you are making speech and action seem as one. In that situation you are to leave because at that point you are trespassing if you stay, you can still say X, but it doesn't conform with reality.

As for an ideal world, it'd be one where people don't insult others because they lost in a video game, and the ones who were insulted aren't seen as the party at fault.

What a fallacious implication, the receiving party was never at fault and I never said such things. It is however they're responsibility to not take drastic action in response however when the person in question fails to act civil.

This is why is not a good idea to bring a gun into situations when they're might be a chance to lower the tension. IE: You have to focus on your priories. If your priority is censoring everyone who acts egregious verbally, and its in a manner that doesn't directly correlate to an action as a threat (Such as yelling bomb in a theater, as that is directly exclaiming a threat in a sense that can not be logically rationed least the possible threat lead to death, and therefore incites panic, inciting harm) , then that doesn't help either. If someone believes X, stopping them from speaking they're mind isn't going to change anything. In fact, if the goal is to just upset people in the first place, you give the person what they want.

At the end of the day the person who is saying the most, and doing the most is just destroying they're own public outlook. This is why when you name certain people, even in modern day, you can correlate they're bad ideas and instantly recognize them as being a negative figure and therefore one to avoid. Just because someone isn't being censored, doesn't mean they aren't being punished.

This is not a cut and dry issue, its actually quite complicated, however there are things that both parties can do to bring about a peaceful resolution.

As said before, if someone says X thing online, you have time to rationalize what they are saying and therefore just ignore it. If people really just listened to random people at they're word just because, then I am not sure life would be how we know it to be as we know it currently.

    EDIT

Of course though, this is a forum. So it actually makes sense for them to censor people when they say stuff like that with warnings, because of the outlook of the company. I stress, I don't disagree with the action taken here by the mods, and find it completely fair.

This argument is silly, because you are making speech and action seem as one. In that situation you are to leave because at that point you are trespassing if you stay, you can still say X, but it doesn't conform with reality.

You are "virtually trespassing" if you break the EULA.

This is not a cut and dry issue, its actually quite complicated, however there are things that both parties can do to bring about a peaceful resolution.

Yes, it is. The party slinging hateful rhetoric is at fault. It's that simple.

Candyman’s entire deal is that he was killed because “haha 1800s racism go brrrr” and wants to avenge his death by killing those who doubt his existence

how did he die? Simple, a lynch mob cut off his hand with a saw (hence why he has a hook hand) and then covered him in honey, causing the nearby bees to sting him to death, they then put him on a pyre and spread his ashes across the entire region

one of his abilities is unleashing a swarm of bees, which is why I think the orange ring MIGHT have something to do with him

wants to avenge his death by killing those who doubt his existence

That's not right. His goal is, essentially, to perpetuate his existence. If people doubt his existence, if they stop believing or just forget him, he will literally cease to be, so he needs to keep killing people, to keep his myth (and therefore existence) alive. He sees it as a "blessed existence", likely because of what he experienced in life.

Idk, I disagree I think actually. I strongly believe if someone is going to act childish that you should just ignore them because at the end of the day just because someone who you don't know online says something, it shouldn't influence you.

Either act childish back, or block them. In any case, I certainly don't think anyone should say these things either though, I just value freedom of speech.

In all likelihood, I am pretty sure that OP wanted these reactions and is trolling, or is someone who is young considering they're behavior and they're inability to or diswant of actually understanding arguments.

Although I suppose people not taking offense to random strangers would be a "perfect" world, and perfect things don't exist.

Freedom of speech does not exist on private platforms. You do not have the right to use a private speech platform however you want any more than you have the right to ######### the bed in a hotel room and then demand not to be kicked out.

Oh so insults only need reports in game? That's odd, I've never seen anyone I reported in game get banned for any of that.

    • You don't see temporary in-game bans, which the vast majority of bans for insults would be
    • Some insults just won't get you banned unless you do it repeatedly. If I were to call someone a "doo-doo head", the mods would be more likely to laugh at me than ban me

It ruins the game for content creators, it ruins the game for skilled players, and the only people that would be lucky to benefit from it are people who are just not very good at the game, but even they will run into issues with it. For example, equally skilled survivors and killers at green-yellow ranks will favor the killer because everyone is still clueless regardless of how good you are. Nobody asked for it, nobody wants it, but two years later we're still here trying to make it work.

Why does it ruin the game for content creators and skilled players to go up against people of equal skill?

A lot of people asked for it and want it. Claiming otherwise doesn't help your case.

  • I mean literally look up the acronym "FNAF" using the forum search, then look up "Candyman". See the difference?

FNAF threads are actually spammed on the forum. Candyman threads, not so much, because Candyman fans stick to threads that already exist (like threads asking what license/character you want, or Candyman threads that already exist and aren't old).

FNAF fans open up multiple threads to say the same thing as each other, which pisses people off (also a cause for the disparity in comments mentioning FNAF vs. comments mentioning Candyman).

TL;DR: Candyman threads aren't spammed. Most Candyman fans stick to threads asking who/what license they want, FNAF fans open up multiple threads, which is why people get annoyed.

The last time I played FIFA, there was a bug with certain character, it was fixed same day. But I mean REALLY fixed.

I got irreversibly stuck in ME:A twice (had to reload, lost several minutes of progress) and went "out of bounds" by trying to drive up a hill instead of taking the long path around, even though I ended up in the same place.

That's not even mentioning much-needed QoL changes, like not having random spawns for tasks that change from time to time (so you need to check every possible location all the time, because it might have respawned there).

Name another game like dbd that's even close to competing? It's a no brainer to drag it out fixing issues because they've got everyone wrapped around their thumb , they won't seriously begin to rush on anything until some other game comes out to compete

I'm not invalidating the expert opinion, but what I'm still saying a laymans opinion still matters, especially since what the "experts" in this case the programmers are designing is a system for the laymans meaning their feedback on it still matters since they are the target audience for the end product, sure while ops feedback of its taking too long scrap it doesn't match what I think since I would prefer it scrapped for different ways I still think their opinion matters

OP didn't share an opinion, they made a claim, that the MMR doesn't work, and therefore should be abandoned.

An opinion would be "I don't like the idea of MMR". What they said was that the devs should "just admit it doesn't work" (implying that the devs are lying to us and OP knows "the truth"). This is not an opinion, it is a claim, one that can be objectively looked at (and discarded, since experts say otherwise).

Long story short, if you say his name five times in front of a mirror, you summon him. It was part of the tagline for the original film, something like "We dare you to say his name" or "We dare you to say Candyman". Y'know, stuff that sounds cheesy nowadays, but back then was meant to entice audiences.
