Never watched Hellraiser so can someone tell me what Pinhead does? Or what his powers are?
I'm open for any killer at this point, but Pinhead does look pretty cool.
Hellraiser is the original "Pain is pleasure" franchise. The Cennobites inflict pain on themselves and each other and get pleasure from it. They almost seem to worship pain. Pinhead is one of them.

I still have hope that it is Springtrap. I would love to play as a Cenobite, but I think the phrase being spelt out might be 'I am still here'. Which was Stringtrap's catchphrase.
Nothing is being spelled out, the letters are jumbled. This isn't Tom Marvolo Riddle.

I agree.
The Ranks got worse when they adjusted Reset.
I do not understand why they don't at least TRY to revert that change and see where it goes. Seems a lot simpler than designing a new system which may or may not work.
Because we had that before and it didn't work then either. Why would they try something we already know doesn't work?

Then it isn't working.
You shouldn't be escaping and getting a pip every match.
Two people should escape and you should safety, if it were truly balanced.
That's if the game got their MMR right. They must be at a lower rank than they should be. The algorithm will adjust their MMR as required.

It's this attitude that I don't understand, personally. I win when I have a fun game - regardless if I escape as a survivor, or kill everyone as killer.
If you escape as survivor, but you didn't have fun - did you really win? Is 'winning' the most important thing to you? If you kill all the survivors, but they just lined up and walked into you - did you win?
For most people, winning is fun. They're not opposite goals.

Being matched with players of similar skill is not the issue, the problem is their new SBMM is not working as intended. People are NOT matched with equal teammates and against equal opponents, and this is why everyone is complaining about it.
Yes it is, based on the complaints I've seen that they'll only be matched with the very best of the best. They're severely overestimating their own ability, but the fact is they're complaining about being matched with people of (what they believe to be) similar skill level.

Have you not played much the past couple months because supposedly its using data thats been collected over a several months period of time.
Yup. I was waiting for MMR. I'm not playing regularly until they either get a proper ranking system (which MMR is) or Candyman is added to the game (because Candyman), because I find the game is not fun otherwise.
A lot of people complain when I tell them they should stop playing if they don't think the game is fun, but I live by what I say.

Putting aside the fact that it's not a scam do you not want higher player retention?

What is SBMM can someone explain?
Skill-Based Match Making. The idea is to attribute a number to your skill level, based on several parameters, then use that to match you with players of similar skill. It's meant to be a more comprehensive ranking system than what we have now, but some people are heavily against being matched with players of similar skill, for various reasons.

When people think they play against hackers or cheaters all day they usualy cant admit that they play worse then others!
Btw If you dont know every perk effect you could missunderstand this as cheating.
And I am sorry but hearing:
"cheats like "little bit mor movementspeed". More Genspeed..... never ending toolboxes"this sound so biased! No normal human could tell the difference between slightly different speeds on all those things or monitor the toolboxes uses when you clearly dont know when a toolbox is used. To me it sounds you are a bad loser who searches for an excuse for his loses (not meant to insult you of course, just a figure of speach).
I saw one person who wanted to report someone because they had legacy prestige and a private profile. It's no wonder reports take time to go through when people report for such reasons.
-
It's been rough the first few trials, but I understand the algorithm doesn't know where to put me because I haven't played much.

How so? How would dbds matchmaking be more exploitable then any other games mmr?
How so?
Because an algorithm is 100% deterministic. Hell, even RNG is deterministic, it's just made to appear random, from an end-user PoV and a statistical PoV.
How would dbds matchmaking be more exploitable then any other games mmr?
It wouldn't, it'd be just as exploitable as those games. However, those games don't have a portion of the playerbase actively trying to get those games killed.
-
@gilgamer said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2421867#Comment_2421867
Yes and if they make the right things rewarding then how would it be exploitable?
If you understand how the algorithm works, it's always going to be exploitable because everything is.
-
@gilgamer said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2421848#Comment_2421848
A well made algorithm wouldn't be so easily exploitable, so I dont see that as a good reason at all.
How does that make sense? An algorithm is an algorithm. Unless the devs add RNG to it, the results are 100% predictable.
-
@gilgamer said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2421828#Comment_2421828
Yes I'm talking about how I can't think of a single good reason to hide someone's sbmm score.
Someone already told you that the devs don't want people exploiting the algorithm.
-
How do you make losing fun? Actually, let's go deeper. Why should losing be fun in the first place?
-
@gilgamer said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2421794#Comment_2421794
Then they should tell us what it means so we know. Having a system that's easily misunderstood is not a good thing either. Like all you have to say is your score is basically between 100 and 1000 with 100 being the lowest and 1000 being the highest so obviously if your a 200 and your matched with a 900 you should know, because regardless of how the match went its a failure of the system and people should know that. It very clearly shows they have no faith in their own ability to make a proper system
Even if they said anything, people would still complain, because they don't read. This is one of the few games I've seen where the in-game news appear as an unskippable, impossible-to-disable pop-up, and yet people still don't read the patch notes.
Besides, they don't want people to affect their MMR.

so then basically is a problem, what about killers? should always face Sweaty de pip squads all the tiem aswell because they do a little bit more decent than average? makes again no sense.
Really? "A little bit more decent than average" is automatically "Sweaty de pip squads" (sic)?
You are, in all likelihood, not in the top 1% of DbD players, so stop worrying like you are. If you are, though, then you need to be put up against other such players and not be allowed to noob stomp.
-
@gilgamer said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2421762#Comment_2421762
Okay then it being invisible only means you can't see when you are getting matched up with people way better or worse and just have to assume. If it was matching you up with people your score and the matches went well then it being visible would only be a good thing since they'd be able to show how well their system works. It being invisible only tells me they have no confidence in their own product.
Or people would see someone with a score that's 100 higher than their own and claim it's unbalanced, when, in fact, that difference might be essentially irrelevant in the algorithm they devised.
-
I've been given the hatch or had killers farm after several DCs/suicides more times than I've had survivors give killers some kills after a ######### trial.
-
@hiken said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2421749#Comment_2421749
how can be one of the most unbalanced games in existence competitive? where also RNG is a main thing, offerings changing the maps, LOL this game has everything to not get called competitive, i do understand what you say about people wanting to win and stuff but this game isnt balanced and is completely terrible for solo q players at that level.
If you're not playing competitively (i.e.: to win), why are you so worried about MMR? It'll just match you with other people of similar skill (who, presumably, aren't playing competitively either).
-
Because despite claiming that the chase is the fun part of the game, what people want is to be chased so that it benefits them. No "tunneling" (which is really defined as "being chased at any point during the trial in such a way that it makes me lose (die)"), no "camping", nothing that could actually have a chance at making them lose.

You know those gimmicks that content creators do? Well they wont be able to do that anymore if an actual functioning MMR system is added
So now every content creator will be forced into high level play since some of them is their literal full time job playing this game. And this game is not enjoyable in the slightest at the highest level.
Im not a content creator and I dont want MMR, I play this game almost every day and racked up 4k hours in the game. And while I do find the challenge of receiving the occasional top tier SWF or even tourney squad, I dont want to face that every game. I want to be able to enjoy other killers and not be forced to play the top tiers
You are not forced to play the top killers, unless you're always trying to win and never play casually. Furthermore, MMR is killer-specific, so if you have killers you use when you want to play casually, you'll be matched with weaker survivors than if you'd picked other killers.

Basically same situation.
I can still say its "I am still here" or "I always come back".
Just because that situation change does not mean I can use it for Springtrap.
Sure, you can say whatever you want, but they're different situations. I was saying it could be Candyman because the letters seemed to be spelling something. I then abandoned the notion because the letters were clearly not spelling anything. You're saying it could be Springtrap for some other reason.
-
Some teasers have been shown, mostly letters. However, that information is outdated, it's most likely Pinhead (Hellraiser).

Nope, I'm certain they just turned rank off entirely for matchmaking. Purple killer on pc but went to test a match on old xbox account that's been reset to rank 20 killer and went up against a very obvious red rank meta build swf, don't need to see the rank numbers to know.
That's not relevant for the test, though. The goal is to see if the trial was fair, stop focusing so much on flawed ranks that really only show how much someone played between rank resets.
Keep in mind that the more you play, the more accurate MMR becomes.
-
That's on purpose. The devs don't want people influencing their MMR.

Well you kept using "Say it" for Candy Man
A and I is pretty much used as E
Just doing the same thing you were doing, commenting quotes from the franchise.
I was saying it could be "Say his name" or "Say Candyman" ("Say it" was someone else) because we got the letters "S" and "A" one after the other. I was assuming it was spelling something. It wasn't until we got more letters that I realized it was just a jumble of letters and dropped that notion. Don't compare the situations.
-
Unless there was an announcement, assume this is a bug.

"E" is the most common letter in the English language (just count how many are in this sentence alone). I'd be surprised if there weren't any words with the letter "E" associated with FNAF.

Have a look at the OP, I'm trying to keep everything up to date. The "H" thing was debunked by BHVR themselves, so I haven't included that.
BHVR claimed that the H wasn't relevant, the same way they acted clueless about the "S" in the first image we got. That "H" is not present on the saloon, it was fabricated for/added to that image.
