Once again. Fixing an issue no one complained about to say they did something.
You and I must have read different forum threads, then.

Still, it's a pretty big issue and needs to be said.
Why, if the "Known issues" section has never been used that way? It'd just give people the impression that console performance got worse as a result of the update.
-
@GrimoireWeiss said:
They didn't even MENTION last gen consoles on this patch. There are tons of posts regarding how killer powers with charge bars are lagging constantly, and they didn't even mention it on the "Known Issues" part.
Like, seriously, just drop the support for last gen already.
It's a minor update and the "known issues" part pertains to this update, not the game as a whole. The "Known issues" section has always pertained to whatever update it's a part of, so I'm not sure why you suddenly seem to believe that it pertains to the game as a whole.
-
Same way they introduced non-LGBT characters: a quick mention of a same-sex partner or love interest in the lore (it's literally just swapping male pronouns for female pronouns, it's not that complicated).

It's also interesting how many anti-MMR people are all the very best of the best. An acquaintance of mine whose been playing since April with a couple of hundred hours is also in this elite bracket, he's informed me that MMR has been switched on secretly but just for him after he's dominated so many comp swf teams. It's been a while since I did high school maths but at an estimate it's possible that about 40% of all players are in the top 1%
Wasn't there a study that showed almost 90% of drivers consider themselves better than average?

The only people MMR benefits are people who are bad at the game, at least in terms of DBD. That's.. most of the community. In my opinion.
No, MMR benefits everyone who wants people of similar skill levels to be matched together. I'd hope that's most people.

I wouldn't put it as harshly as that but I am getting the impression that a lot of very experienced killers feel that maybe one in ten games should be an actual challenge and the other nine should basically be clubbing some baby seals to death at 5 gens. And that not having these seals available to them is a form of "punishment for being good at the game"
Don't make this a killer vs survivor thing. A lot of survivors don't like MMR either, because they think they'll always go up against strong killers if MMR is enabled.

That's not what I told you. You collect or lose points depending on how the match went and the killer you went against. Those points are saved to yourself not the general stats they show on streams
I'm pretty sure rank hasn't been stored on your end for some time now, but since I'm not completely sure, I'll drop it.

it's server sided and you can check the stats associated with your client after updating each one, anyone who studied high TIC level might be aware of these programs and regularly use them on their PCs to track their own connections and cookies
You'll forgive me if I'm skeptical that you can know how an algorithm you have no access to works.
The devs have been collecting kill rates for years now. That information was always being gathered, it's not related to MMR.

How does it make no sense to have it by simply having PC only lobbies as a option for those who are on the same platform. They can be fit in either a PC lobby or a crossplay lobby. Having it on or off should only be determining the filter for you and your party.
How does it make no sense to have it by simply having PC only lobbies as a option for those who are on the same platform.
Because if people who have it off are matched with people who have it on, there's a conflict that can only be solved in one of two ways:
- The choice of the people who have it on is ignored and they can't be matched with anyone on other platforms
- The choice of the people who have it off is ignored and they can be matched with anyone on other platforms
Either way, someone gets the short end of the stick. I don't see why your decision to have crossplay off should be imposed on me.

it's not public but checkable by your own client with normal progams, not against the EULA
That'd be quite something, given that MMR is completely server-side.

the system does not work like that. It's simple:
You die a lot to x killer?
Your past matches have been optimal from your side?
That's all, and I can assure you I saw myself how those points works and why Hillbilly has been bugged the past 3 tests with the same mistake every time
I wasn't aware that they'd made the algorithm public. Where did you get this information?
-

The general changes of the game does not influence by any instance the matchmaking system
I'm pretty sure at least one killer had their power completely redesigned in that time. Since MMR is going to be killer-specific, it'd need to be adapted.
-
If killers need to be buffed, MMR will show that.
-
Do some math on average BP gain per unit of time. The raw amount of BP is meaningless by itself. I will say, though, that you're unlocking everything and essentially being done with the game, so it's normal that it'll take a long time.

"first time" its development has started almost 2 years ago in 2 months and there has been several tests and data collecting over the months
It's a complex system, it's going to take some time. The game also had several changes in those years, so the system also had to be changed.

If they would let people on the same platform that have it on still be in the potential player pool I would keep it off. Also if they would actually combine window store with steam without having crossplay on considering they are just different stores on PCs.
If they would let people on the same platform that have it on still be in the potential player pool I would keep it off.
That would effectively nullify their decision to have it on, since you can't be matched with people outside your platform. It'd make no sense to do that.
Also if they would actually combine window store with steam without having crossplay on considering they are just different stores on PCs.
That'd make sense, yes. It's not like an XBOX and a PS4, which actually are different platforms.

On all my P3 characters, and I'm P3ing all of them, I didn't notice having more chance to get the next tier of a perk.
Because that's not a thing. There's a slightly higher chance to get higher-rarity things in your bloodweb, but it's not noticeable unless you've got a spreadsheet and go through several hundred bloodwebs.

I had this beautiful experience right now. I'm paired with a tryhard red rank SWF that leaves me to die after I finish the last two gens because they found hatch and who cares about the random online, right? MMR is trash not just for the player they match you against, the teams they make are horribly unbalanced.
MMR isn't on. You just provided evidence for why MMR is needed.
-
Whatever gets me into a trial faster.
-
The current system carries me to red ranks just fine, thanks. I just don't want to have to carry my team or play around because the killer is so bad that I'll be stuck in "hold M1 simulator" once they give up due to how unbalanced the trial is, is all.
-
It's a crow, not an ear. Look closely at the original image, the one that wasn't degraded by making it brighter and highlighting compression artifacts.

please, i'm not intrested in a discussion on who thinks is right about playing games and having a blast or not.
I'm starting a discussion that could counter a lot of dc's or early death's on the first hook.
no hurt in keeping the player in the rank he is currently in, if you do good you move higher, if not you stay the same......you made it there in the first place so you did something right....and not to talk about the matchmaking when you are set up against a red rank level 1 killer when your whole team is green.
Have you ever played a ranked game where losing didn't make you drop in rank?
The point of any ranking system is to get you to play against people of equal skill. If you lose over a prolonged period of time, it's because your skill doesn't measure up. If you lose a few times, you'll get your rank back. This isn't a problem.

You don't need to be an expert or work in the same field as someone to give an opinion on something
A layman's opinion doesn't carry the same weight as an expert's. If the expert says it can be done, based on their knowledge and understanding of the problem, and the layman says it can't because it's taking too long and they don't see how it can be done, the expert is invariably correct. As an example, look at the Wright Brothers.

i absolutely dont.
honestly, i feel like most just havent realized how much this is going to screw Killer gameplay over (regardless of your rating btw - if you have to give your absolute best in a game just to barely make a 2k in every single one of your games, that is not going to be a healthy thing for DbD overall. trust me, a lot of people are going to get burned out from DbD once they reached that point).
also, high rank DbD is going to be essentially unplayable.
well, unless you really enjoy going against / playing as super tryhard Nurses and Spirits that camp, slug and tunnel as much as they can to secure their kills.
If you don't try hard, you won't go up against people who tryhard either. If you always play to win, you will go up against people who also play to win, just as it should be.
-
Yes. I am literally avoiding playing until it comes out.
-
Play the other side. If you have difficulty going up against a specific perk and/or killer, use that perk and/or killer, figure out how they work, come up with counters, then try those counters.

I used to play FNAF a lot. I know Springtrap and that’s gotta be him.
You see him because you're looking for him. I see a crow and some rocks.
-
It worked just fine for me in every test. If you're having problems with it, you should report those. The devs want to fix the problems you have, hence the long time it's taking to implement MMR, but they can't if you don't tell them your problems.
-

Something is in that picture. It could just as easily be a crow, some rocks, and pareidolia.

Actually good point.
most of those teases/hints we got were misleading. So it would be surprising if the letter would hint directly towards the killers name
Having read the entire thread, though, I can see why people would think it's a FNAF chapter. That shape does resemble an animatronic from the series, although I think the "ear" could just be a crow.
-
Say his name? Could also just be summer.
-
No. If you were to nerf characters due to how their interactions can be used to BM, you'd end up with survivors who are punished for repairing gens and/or escaping and killers who are punished for chasing and/or killing survivors.
-

The map is horrible from a gameplay standpoint but it is likely going to remain exactly the same. The Devs can be pretty stubborn as evidenced by the fact that the game map has still gone untouched after it's rework.
Why is that evidence of stubbornness, as opposed to just them liking the way the map is now, the same way many people like RCPD?
-
A lot of competition has come and gone, because it sucks. I'm guessing this is going to be another one.

Ok, so what does "Stun or Blind the Killer 4 times" mean?
I see your point, yes.

Two unhooks or two gens, not one unhook and one gen.
-
And the same applies to the survivors. It's why they were chosen for the Entity's realm, after all.

Eh, I mean, I keep reporting it as unsportsmanlike behaviour unless it's a basement bubba. It's basically forcing a survivor to depip and earn 0 BP with nothing they can do against it. Forcing a player to depip used to be bannable when survivors did it to killers, but it's never been bannable as a killer to survivors.
So I've been annoying the devs with unsportsmanlike behaviour reports with messages that a survivor shouldnt be forced to depip with only 6k bp because of a Bubba facecamping. And I will keep spamming that untill they either give survivors a black pip and a 5k BP bonus in survival for being facecamped to death(I mean, you've been distracting the killer for 2 minutes by hanging on the hook, you've been "surviving" for 3 full hookstates instead of just suiciding on hook, that should be rewarded) or untill they make emblems and bp global for people who are being chased/on the hook.
Forcing a player to depip used to be bannable when survivors did it to killers, but it's never been bannable as a killer to survivors.
That has never been bannable, period.
Stop filing false reports, you're just clogging up the system and making it worse.
-
I don't get it. If this isn't for the devs, are you asking us to fix the maps?
-
A corollary (of sorts) of 2 is that you have to put in some effort to make your comments readable. If you just have a long string of words with little to no punctuation and run-on sentences, or a massive wall of text, very few people (if any) are going to read it. It's a matter of showing basic respect for the person/people you're speaking with, IMO.

It doesn't work because in early PTBs for the game when it came out, survivors abused it by running loops purposefully around the hooks to punish the killer. In other words, survivors back then played and screwed themselves for the future.
And now, if OP hasn't read the other suggestions like I said, they're going to say something like "disable it if the killer is chasing a survivor" or "disable it if a survivor is near the hook".

I can tell this is just gonna be the "Slenderman in Dead by Daylight" Discussion all over it again with back and forth comments, so just gonna make a final statement and move on cause not gonna get involved with this again.
I also include everyone that mentions Candyman in any discussion of who the next killer is going to be. Even though there is not many discussions about Candyman as much as Springtrap there is just as many comments about Candyman that matches the amount of discussions about Springtrap.
Springtrap might have fake hype but Candyman also has the same thought of "It's gonna be him this time".
Also I am not trying to "Both sides" IT IS both sides due to same amount of spam both of them get.
Candyman is just gonna keep being mentioned until he is ingame just like Springtrap so no point on arguing about it on "Who has the real Hype"
That's my statement and leaving at that.
I also include everyone that mentions Candyman in any discussion of who the next killer is going to be. Even though there is not many discussions about Candyman as much as Springtrap there is just as many comments about Candyman that matches the amount of discussions about Springtrap.
Why, though, if people are complaining about the threads about FNAF, and not the comments about FNAF in threads about who you want the next killer to be?
-
Yes. I'd wager they'll add Trapper's dad and possibly Wraith's boss.

@Mr_Madness said:

Um....yeah there was lot of Candyman discussions around every chapter release ever since the tweets including the Actor even if was not around chapter release dates.
Candyman has the same thing that Springtrap with everyone making a discussion about it all the time.
In this case if everyone spams Candyman no one complains but if it's Springtrap people complain even though he killed a lot and in the non cannon books he is a sociopath.
So again people also do spam Candyman which is no different then spamming Springtrap.
There are always a lot of discussions around chapter releases, that's not unusual and it is the appropriate time.
What is unusual is people continuously making threads about a license that most people clearly don't want. Note that the Candyman threads stop after the releases, but FNAF threads don't. They just keep coming, almost like that's the point, to try to fake hype.
Don't try to "both sides" this.
-
Since I'm a rank 20 killer due to not playing it, that should be easy.
I'll put my chips on Candyman, but it's mostly wishful thinking.

In appropriate threads, where you're supposed to comment on what killers/chapters/whatever you want. You don't see Candyman fans opening up 5 threads per day that all end the same way, then get surprised when they all end the same way.
