I mean unless they pick it up in front of you I don't really see much issue with it, as it literally respawns somewhere else as soon as its taken.

Indeed. They're not making it harder for you. My friend's had a pedestal spawn right in front of him, just as I've had one despawn right in front of me.

On a side note, I could've sworn I'd seen this thread before.

They never said "female" and "story" were mutually exclusive. But I suppose it's more fun to play that social media, "I'm going to hint that you're an -ist of some variety if you say something I don't like." game.

I never hinted they "[were] an -ist of some variety" (if that's what it sounded like, it wasn't intentional). However, when they imply that the devs should focus on good stories (as opposed to what the OP is asking), it does seem like that's what they're saying. If I'm wrong, they just have to say so and clarify their position.

No, because if I don't participate people go on thinking their point has merit.

To them, it might. Your opinion is not the only one that matters. I edited my previous comment after you quoted it. Here you go:

I do find it funny how you think creating a female killer and creating a killer with a good background are mutually exclusive concepts.

  • @EverflowingRiver said:

Another thread about a topic that is irrelevant. Why have good story telling when you can make a killer with a certain set of genitals 🙄. Or would it help the op sleep at night knowing there was a quota system?

You don't have to participate if you think it's irrelevant, but I do find it funny how you think creating a female killer and creating a killer with a good background are mutually exclusive concepts.

You could let everyone know in the lobby that cakes don't work. or in the end-game chat. I do it

TBH, BHVR should let us know that offerings don't work... Those that don't go on forums / reddit don't know or will find out too late.

If you are aware that offerings are not working... Why are you using them? And why are you asking for compensation when you know that?

This is really the crux of the issue here. At some point, you have to admit it's a little bit your fault for using something you know is bugged. It's almost like insurance fraud, TBH.

Ehy @Orion you might want to include this list to the original post, since apparently many people are confused by the "licensed" definition 🙄

The only one missing in this list I believe is William "Bill" Overback

I added a link to the Gamepedia wiki's "Licensed Characters" category. I don't want the OP to get too long.

Podrías dar un ejemplo? Yo creo que eres un experto en el tema (lo digo enserio)

Sure. I hope you don't mind me replying in English. I'm feeling a bit lazy and don't want to write in Spanish.

When that mechanic was tested in the first PTB, it was discovered that two survivors could force the killer to stay near the hook. The killer was then forced to make a choice: chase one survivor away while the other one unhooked, or stay near the hook and the fourth survivor would have more than enough time to work on generators and then come in for a rescue anyway. Since this gave all the power to survivors, even though the killer was the one who did all the work, the idea was immediately disregarded.

The devs also tried having the first hook stage last forever (unless the survivors attempted to unhook themselves), but a similar issue arose: without any pressure to unhook, the survivors could finish repairing all the generators and unhook at their leisure. The killer was forced to allow survivors to unhook, or he would receive almost no benefit for his work. Again, this idea was thrown away.

So oyur saying that doing your best to SURVIVE as a SURVIVOR is bullying? the whole point of saboing and perks like flip flop is to SURVIVE

but killer mains wouldnt understand that

I knew a comment like yours would inevitably pop up if I didn't explicitly mention I was a survivor main unprompted. If I had, the reaction would've been that my mentioning it was unprompted and irrelevant, so thank you.

Despite what people may believe, I am, and always have been, a survivor main. I main Jake, and have done so since the game launched, so guess how I know why Saboteur was used. I also almost always played with a team (yes, I was one of those survivors who dodged until they got into a lobby with their friends), and have only played SWF (when I play survivor) for a while now.

So no, I'm not saying survivors doing their best to survive are bullying. I'm saying survivors were sabotaging every hook to bully the killer, or otherwise support bullies, like I inadvertently did for a while. The fact that it was also effective to help them survive was a coincidence, and definitely not the main goal.

So tunneling and camping is toxic?

Most killers dont do it to play optimally but to annoy survivors

Imo playing optimally isnt toxic even if it bothers the other side

Btw I'm curious since your a "veteran" do you have legacy?

It can be, yes, but I disagree with your notion that most killers do it to annoy survivors. I've rarely encountered campers, and most of those that I have encountered camped when it became clear that we were rewarding them for it.

No, I don't have legacy. I have little patience for doing the same tasks over and over again, probably due to my ADD. That's why I played multiple killers (because their gameplay is different), but basically only one survivor (Jake). Hell, this event will be the first time I play most non-licensed survivors. Even so, I've never touched the likes of Laurie, Tapp, and so on.

  • @Respectfulnancymain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1382544#Comment_1382544

But saboing and using iron grasp/ agitaion wasent toxic?

    Playing optimally isn't toxic imo

Survivors weren't doing it to play optimally, they were doing it because they wanted to bully killers by preventing them from getting hooks, kills, and points. When killers adapted, survivors cried out for nerfs to Iron Grasp, because it was "impossible to wiggle free", completely ignoring why killers were even taking Iron Grasp to begin with - because hooking was impossible otherwise.

There's a reason Jakes were dodged like the plague back then.

  • I've been here since launch, and while this is an unpopular fact, survivors* are responsible for the toxicity. It started with them, then killers responded in kind, and now we're here. Only the veterans like myself remember, for example, that killers didn't start leaving survivors to bleed out or take Agitation and Iron Grasp for shits and giggles, they did it because survivors sabotaged every hook on the map and made it nigh-impossible to hook them (sometimes just impossible, even with Agitation and Iron Grasp).

*#NotAllSurvivors, before someone points that out.

I think on the lunar vessel event you got bloodpoints every x seconds you carry it. You got rewarded for "exposing" yourself. And that gave you several 100 BP iirc each 10 seconds. Finsihing event gens gave you 4000 BP, using event hooks extra 2000BP. Thats why I also think that 500 BP for an escape is not really an incent to do so, after unlocking the cosmetic. I mean, escaping alone gives 5000 BP, so 500 bonus isn't that much, taking into consideration that event gens gave you almost the same amount multiple times during the match.

@Lucian typo here, just to make sure: OP says licensed can NOT get it, only original characters

Thanks for the warning about the typo, I fixed it.

I'm not really sure how that one worked. I think that's one of the events I skipped when I was getting bored with DbD.

  • @PatBrutal if you could close this thread and mark it as "not a bug", I'd appreciate it. I think it was just a misunderstanding and weird circumstances.

  • Oddly enough, I was able to try it again and it didn't work. My guess is that the Zarina did use some sort of syringe on me and I didn't see it. The score screen probably didn't show it because the item was destroyed. In conclusion, this does not appear to be a bug (or, if it is, it's very difficult to reproduce).

I realized what happened. So, the login reward for June 23-25 is the 'Pecan Crown' which is a cosmetic for the deathslinger. The crown that the deathslinger gets from interacting with a pedestal must be different?

    https://deadbydaylight.com/en/news/4th-anniversary-event

Yeah, that's a different thing. The event crown is called "Crown of Entity the Great". It's the one you see on the blue podium while waiting for a lobby.

  • @DWolfAlpha said:

    Mask.

  • There are more people playing killer now. This is not something that can be fixed.

  • I'm ambivalent about this. On the one hand, sure, it sucks when you reveal him and he figures out more or less where you are. On the other hand, I feel like he'd be too weak otherwise.

  • @Todgeweiht said:

They should just rework OoO already, it only benefits SWF and tryhards. Just an overall extremely unhealthy perk.

Yeah, the real issue here is OoO, not the map itself. No survivor would be able to just sit in a hallway and escape the killer if they didn't have "wallhacks".

How is it fair? Did you not read the post explaining everything? You can not avoid being the last one, there can be bad teamates and just unlucky games. When that happens, yes you can race to find hatch but the killers finds the hatch before you. Or even if you avoid finding the hatch and go to a door asap, the killer will most likely get to you before you get to open the door. You have no choice but to try for gate and usually they spawn not far from each other. Which mean the killer can easily camp or walk to both doors. How is it fair that you have no choice but to die, you should have a better chance to live and not just give up a free kill. I can see a senario where you do live, such as if you get a big map & you use a septic to get in an extra hit and open the gate but that is so rng. I'm talking about getting a fair fight when the hatch is closed and the doors are close to eachother.

How is it fair that the killer outplays your entire team, yet is punished by increasing your odds of escape?

  • Even if you run spinechill & quentin's perk and get to a door asap you're doomed unless you're in a huge map but that chance is so rng.

Yes, that's what "chance" means, it's based on probability.

When this happens, you have four options:

    1. Try to open the gate without being seen. Usually this involves a combination of stealth and misdirection. For example, opening a gate until the first light then GTFOing to the other (stealthily), or creating a noise notification by exiting a locker far enough away from the gates that you can get there and open them before the killer is finished searching the area.
    2. Try to find a key. You have 2 minutes and the killer's not going anywhere, might as well try. I once found a Skeleton Key in a chest without any perks to improve my odds.
    3. Let the Entity take you during the EGC.
    4. Surrender yourself to the killer and hope for the best.

None of those guarantee your success because that's how games work. If a strategy could guarantee you'd succeed 100% of the time, it'd be broken.

  • @White_Owl said:

Once a player interacts with a pedestal, or after a certain amount of time passes, that pedestal will disappear and a new pedestal will appear somewhere else on the map.

Why they didn't explain this? Without this info people act toxic towards the first guy who got the crown.

I think they figured it'd be pretty obvious once someone spotted the new pedestal that there could be more than one.

  • @Customapple0 said:

If the killer is Camping then a tooltip should pop up informing survivors that if the killer is making it unsafe to unhook then they should do gens. I’d also throw in the aura reveal within 16m of the hook so that survivors can see that someone is being camped.

Camping is a strong tactic against solo survivors as there’s no communication. It takes like 20s for you to figure out that someone is being camped, the same applies to the others when they try to save.

Also some have a habit of just hiding near the hook hoping the killer walks away....maybe the survivors are uneducated about camping idk.

Also the survivor being camped has no incentive to stay on the hook, they could just Hook-icide and be in another, more fun match. Maybe they should gain distraction points or something if the killer stays within the vicinity of them so that the game isn’t a total loss for them.

    Use Kindred.

It'd still be much faster to just suicide. It takes, what, 1 minute to find a crown?

  • I'm up to 6 so far. It's a pain because most of my survivors are level 1.

  • @Spooky13 said:

Spirit and Oni are the only really big stinkers I can think of. Their hair just hides the crown. I'd also argue Plague, cause she already kinda has a gold crown/headdress, and of course stealth killers. Imagine if Ghostface or Pig had one, you'd never be able to stalk or get Ambush hits.

Oni? The crown makes it look like he has golden horns, come on.

They do appear all the time. However, they also despawn after a while, which can make them hard to find.

Yes again, there are dicks on BOTH sides. Both. There are also killers who would purposely try to prevent people from working on special gens in past events. Tunnel and mori anyone with lanterns and #########. Or even this event, where OP states that killers seem to be tryharding like whoa, bringing every nasty thing in their box of tricks, not because they want to play normally and don't care about the event, but are seemingly doing this BECAUSE of the event. Then they're being dicks. They're just trying to prevent people from having a fun time, and that's not cool.

Btw, those people who would go around sabo-ing event hooks just because they could? Know what I think of them? They were grade-A 100% dicks. They were just trying to make people mad or ruin someone's day. Which is a horrible thing to do during a time that's supposed to bring people together.

I've been here for 4 years and survivors are much, much more toxic than killers. So sure, there are dicks on both sides, but you're equating 5% of killers who intentionally go out of their way to ruin survivors' trials to something like 30% of survivors who do the same. It's not proportional in the slightest and to dismiss that fact as "there are dicks on both sides" is insulting.

  • @cenoflame said:

My PSA details what I've learned. I don't know of any mechanic that can make you lose the crown.

Because the Demogorgon is a licensed character, and like it says in the OP, only non-licensed characters can get it.

So, if I walk into a pedestal as a cloaked Wraith and it disappears, does that mean I have acquired a crown? And if not, how was I meant to secure that crown until the end of the match?

Wraith can't pick up crowns while cloaked. You need to interact with it. You'll know if you've acquired one because your screen will have gold particle effects on the sides.

  • @Puffieball said:

I know the devs posted that the event cakes are granting 140% bonus instead of 104% and wont stack but I don't get the bonus at all unless I use it. But in the matches where I don't put any offering and lets say one other player does, I don't get that bonus.one bonus at all. Hopefully that issue gets fixed to.

It's not that it doesn't stack, it's just not applying to everyone.

Oh yeah, survivors totally have never let killers get their objectives in past events, and farmed with them, let them get their special hooks. Nah all survivors are and forever will be dicks, no if ands or buts. No exceptions. There is no good survivor. You're right, how could I have been so blind?

The devs literally had to make those hooks impossible to sabotage so survivors wouldn't destroy them and deny the killer any chance to get the points.

  • @daggersnight said:
