Correct me if I'm wrong but in 2017 I believe the profit from dbd itself was 66 million dollars. Which then take into account the amount of dlcs, cosmetics, the rift and new players. That number is probably a lot higher today tho unfortunately there aren't any numbers for last year.
I don't know. I don't follow BHVR's profit line. However, if that's so, you can probably provide a link. Keep in mind, though, that they've hired a lot more people since and paid for expensive licenses.

That's not good enough though. There not some small indie company. They make millions upon millions each year. Maybe they should just get it into their heads that they just need to wipe the rank system away and start a fresh cuz every time they add something or change something it just makes everything worse. They have no excuse for having one of the poorest excuses of a rank system in any game. There are so many examples of good rank systems out there they've had plenty of time and they have the resources to change it but their to lazy and money hungry putting energy instead into rifts and new legendary skins which are overpriced and not value for money.

Source? Keep in mind that profit is not the same as revenue.

It's not hook farming to try and save your friend off the hook, yes I could sit around and do generators and get a +1 but I don't want my mate getting a -1 and having a terrible game so I will try my best to save them, I'm happy to go down but I should be able to give them a chance first
You are able to give them a chance, if you play well. If you got grabbed, that's because you tried to unhook in the killer's face, so you screwed up your attempt.
And you may not call it hook farming, but when the killer is right there, ready to down your friend and you, that's hook farming.
-
Why are you unhooking in the killer's face? Stop hook farming.

if someone is tunneled off the hook, its bypassing DS, AND its 3 hits (2 for 1st down, and 1 for 2nd) instead of 6 hits (3x 2 hits for down) so yea its cutting game in half
Since we're speaking in hypotheticals, if the killer decides to use it on their death hook, it's not cutting the game at all.
-
A Mori makes it so the killer only has to win, at most, two chases, as opposed to three. That's not "cutting a game by half". If you're having problems with Moris, I recommend stealth.

I read an article, never saw them mentioning it never existing.
How did the human Y chromosome become so small relative to its X counterpart? This animation depicts the 300-million-year odyssey of the sex chromosomes that began when the proto X and Y were an identical pair. -
@timbologna said:
Orion, that's why I was confused, and it was a reach when I thought you meant to say Y. XY AND XX have both existed since the dawn of existence. Whoever thought it was abnormal must be someone like....someone who doesn't know which chromosome is which.
They really haven't always existed, though. Read some more advanced biology textbooks.

Again, literally nobody said anything about being oppressed. Please read and reply to what I said.

You just said normal, natural, relationships are forced down your throat. They're not. That's just nature being nature.
So did you, because LGBT relationships are normal and natural.
You didn't know that the Y chromosome is a mutated X chromosome and that's why men suffer far more from genetic disorders than women, as well as why we all start out with vaginas in the womb?
EDIT: Small typo, mixed up X and Y.

I feel like people often forget being heterosexual isn't a form of "sexuality" it's nature...being normal. Saying you're oppressed by viewing normal relationships between male and female just doesn't make sense.
Nobody said they're oppressed, we're saying heterosexual relationships are shoved down everyone's throats all the time and nobody thinks that's "political" or "shouldn't be included". Y'know, the same arguments given about LGBT relationships.
PS: Being LGBT might not be the norm, but it's also nature.

I understand and to an extent agree with you.
However, I have to say, actions speak far louder than words. I appreciate the developers making their stance clear on Twitter but it's not really worth anything if it doesn't translate into any actual support for the LGBTQ community. So far we don't actually have anything tangible in terms of representation. I've seen companies make empty promises on so many occasions.
I was thrilled when BHVR announced their support but the amount of homophobia I've seen both in-game and on social media is sending me a different message.
Please don't conflate the response from certain people with the devs' opinions. Give the devs some time, you won't regret it.

I just say, wat I di in another of these threads:
I'm not against people of different sexualities. I only have some problems when putting this in games/movies etc:
1) You can't get it right for everyone. If you add one LGBTQ character who is... let's say gay. Then there will be players wo say: "There needs to be a lesbian one now. Else you are sexist!" and so on an on. There will be always people who want their sexuality considered regardless if there are only 10 people with this or not.
2) If it is done bad, it get's annoying. Think of "The Last of Us 2". Sadly this is often the case, because it "needs" to be in this game/movie.
3) Sadly: The more LGBTQ people are "demanding" to be considered everywhere, the more other people get annoyed and won't listen anymore. And you clearly do not want this.
I would be completely fine with 1-2 killers and 1-2 survivors who are LGBTQ, but not more. Else it would be too much.
Or leave it as it is now: if you imagine character X is gay, than be it like that for you. This would be best for everyone. No one gets offended or forgotten.
3) Nobody demanded anything, the devs did this of their own free will. However, for the record, these are the same arguments given to every disenfranchised group in history. Women didn't get to vote because they kept quiet and tried not to annoy people.
I would be completely fine with 1-2 killers and 1-2 survivors who are LGBTQ, but not more. Else it would be too much.
Why? Does there need to be a specific quota?
Or leave it as it is now: if you imagine character X is gay, than be it like that for you. This would be best for everyone. No one gets offended or forgotten.
"As it is now" is heterosexuals get representation, everyone else gets shafted. That's why the devs said they would no longer restrict themselves when it came to adding relationships.

Then what is your point? You keep getting stuck on the thought that you can't have a good female killer and a good killer at the same time. If the devs had a list of possible next killers, all of who would turn out great for the game but all happen to be male, I'm saying they shouldn't forget that list just to put a female killer in. That is the risk of asking for specific identity traits. Does that mean that will happen? No it does not. Just let the devs come up with whatever they want without suggesting they need a female character just for ratios.
I'm done posting on this topic after this cause it can't be broken down any further.
My point is that the lore and art departments don't influence the balance of the game, so they can make (and have made) good female killers if they so choose, without sacrificing the game's quality in any way.

if the LGBT character is solely defined for being LGBT then the character is poorly written, speaking as someone who has written stories before I can say writing a interesting LGBT character is as easy as writing a normal character, slap the LGBT label on em, and make that fact a prominent one but not the defining one
for example, I have a male LGBT character, he's a confident outgoing person who likes trying new things to see what sticks, he works at the brewery, his partner works at the local market, he goes on a adventure with his partner to do something far away because his dog got stolen by some guy off the street
the defining traits to make this character interesting are motivation and personality, the fact that he's gay is one of his traits and isn't exactly subtle but that isn't what defines him, the story isn't written around the LGBT trait, it's written as a normal story with a LGBT protagonist
TLDR: make it obvious but don't make it the defining trait
Yeah, that's what people mean when they say "don't make it obvious". "Making it obvious" is synonymous with "making the character a walking stereotype" for the majority of people.
-
@Semimatic said:
I'd be fine if it was sort of subtly added or included in a lore, but I don't want them to be inclusive just for the sake of inclusion. I just don't want them to have a character with their only character trait being they're apart of LGBTQ+, that's not adding a character, that's just being inclusive to be inclusive.
Furthermore, as much as BHVR wants to try to make this have a story, the lore aspects really aren't that important. People like the designs of the characters but they're honestly treated more like avatars you like other than "I personally relate to this character, therefore I will play them."
So yeah, there's nothing wrong with it being added, but I honestly think it doesn't really matter in a game like this because it's not actually character driven. Additionally, I'm afraid BHVR might just do it so people will like them more and not for the reason of creating an interesting character.
TLDR: Lore isn't really that important to people as much as BHVR wants it to in my opinion. An LGBTQ+ survivor in the lore wouldn't be a problem or anything, but if I'm being honest, it's not really representation because lore matters so little.
The devs have already created and added an LGBT character, it's just that they weren't confirmed. I'd say they did a good job of it.

those guys are idiots who don't know how to write a relatively decent and interesting character to save their lives, I wouldn't bother listening to em
Those guys make up the majority of people. Nobody likes a stereotypical LGBT character who's defined by the fact that they're LGBT, least of all LGBT people.

When the people you're trying to protect tell you they don't need your protection, it's a little insulting to act like they're wrong and you know best. LGBT people aren't children.
EDIT: It's a video game, not real life. IRL, LGBT people might actually need protection, as we see regularly the world over. In a video game, however, I think we can handle it.

No one threw dirt at you. Since the ratio was in your original post it stands to reason that the ratio was your main goal in wanting another female killer. I am simply saying that adding anything for the sake of a ratio risks sacrificing quality for the sake of balance.
It really doesn't, since the lore and art departments don't have anything to do with the game design/balance department.

As always, while representation is great, why do we need sexual orientations listed or labeled in a game about murdering each other. Unless using orientation to choose a target is your thing. Which is horrible.
In a game where nobodys orientation, gender, or usually age is even mentioned.
See, that's where you're wrong. If you'd read the lore, you would've seen that many characters have had their orientation confirmed, but they were all heterosexual.

Because they help capitalist societies (i.e.: all of them) function. Why invest your resources into something if someone else will reap the benefits?
And last I heard, China was implementing copyright laws precisely because they realized the problem.

I'm kinda tired right now. Was there some subtlety that went over my head? Inside joke?
For someone who isn't just starting out, you don't earn anything, it's given to you. Repeatedly over and over again.
And winning a chase with someone who's already injured or finding the hatch when you have 8 sets of eyes earns itself an eyeroll too.
I mean actually keys are balanced on the other end of the mori spectrum. You kill someone, the hatch becomes easier to find. Don't kill anyone and they have to do all 5 gens to find it.
Maybe in the future they'll have an offering that turns the hatch into a latrine. That'd be funny.
8 sets of eyes? Go rest a bit, then come back.

I have to admit though I belly laugh when the killer gets the least points cause we didn't fall for his crap.
I find it insulting when an opponent feels they have to "go easy" on me (or "play fair", as some people like to misname it) because they don't think I'm worth the effort. Maybe you like it when opponents hand you a win on a silver platter, but I don't.

It's not like pink mori's are rare in any capacity. I could bring 50 irredescent mori's in a row on a character that isn't even my main.
And my survivor I'm hard pressed to find broken keys, but I have over 80 irredescent and purple quality keys with add-ons that keep my key intact.
The issue is rarity. They're is no rarity.
