because in this case there were almost 3,000 people there to witness it happen live.
And in every other case the person was extremely hostile and admitted to DCing a lot more than they'd initially said.

Yeah, i'm not excluding, it'd be great if this was actually it, so we'd have something concrete.
Just thought it'd be good to share anyway.
It's always good to share information. That's how we learn.

0% at all times, don't really encounter any problems.
Can hear injured breaths, can hear whining while downed, can hear footsteps while blinded & close to them.
Worst is probably that footsteps have just become less noticable to me ever since a patch years ago.
@Cheers said:
0%, rarely do I get a survivor that's injured not making any noises, however quite often I find a downed survivor not making any noises (I'd say once every three or four times).
Well, it could still be a cause of sound bugs. We already know that there's no universal cause.
-
Alright, next I'd like to ask everyone to put the menu music at 100% and see if the problems go away. Don't do anything else with the settings, just put the music back at 100%. If I'm right, the problems will, at least, be reduced.
@xenotimebong said:
My main music is at like 75%, and the menu music is 40% I think? Less than half.
Playing killer I notice reduced/nonexistent footstep and breathing sounds in every match. Survivors being silent on the ground isn’t as common but happens frequently enough that I notice it. Playing survivor, I’ll get the free Iron Will once every few matches, it’s not super common. There are also issues with occlusion like other people have said, and Dwight in particular is bugged (he doesn’t make a sound when he falls from a height).
Do you think that the menu music setting is messing with in-match sound balance?
Do you think that the menu music setting is messing with in-match sound balance?
That's what I think, yes. I didn't have any problems until I set it to 0%. It could just be a coincidence, though.

7%. It's noticeable, but barely.

I was doing a gen and unluckily the killer spawned nearest to me and I got in a chase.
The killer was so persistent he chased me all game until the gates were powered, then he stopped, I somehow managed to not get hit once through vaulting alot.
And then i managed to escape.
But technically if it wasn't for my long killer distraction, the gens wouldn't have been done, but they get more points because they've done gens, the killer would sometimes hit any survivors in the area near me but would still focus on me so the others would be able to get altruism for healing the Injured.
But technically if it wasn't for my long killer distraction, the gens wouldn't have been done
That's not true at all. More gens have been completed by having competent teams than just one person being chased the entire trial. You don't need one person to be chased the entire time.
With that said, this is something the devs are looking into, so that you don't depip if you run the killer the entire trial.
-
Some people are under the impression that you should cater to their wants and needs, despite being their opponent. They think you should only play in a way that is "fun" (for them, not for you), even though that's a completely arbitrary definition that changes from player to player, and that doing anything except what they want is "toxic".

Sure, anything's possible.
For the record, though, Plague is from around the time of the first human civilization, not from the middle ages.

Not really, no. If it were obvious, I wouldn't have asked.
Prestige increases the likelihood of items with higher rarity to spawn on your bloodweb. Event items have low rarity to make them easier to find on the bloodweb. So you're getting screwed by your prestige.
-
When I play killer, I measure success by how many kills I get. 0-1 is a loss, 2 is a tie, 3-4 is a win. Others may consider pipping to be the goal. Others still may consider getting points to be the goal. You need to figure out what you're going for first, and then you can tell if you suck depending on whether or not you achieved that goal.

It doesn't matter ultimately sense going in either should get you to a totem just in a different section.
I know it doesn't matter, that's why I asked how you could be sure that they spawned clockwise and not counter-clockwise, since they should be virtually identical.
-
OP, are you prestiged?
-
@Warcrafter4 said:
Totems spawn in a counter clockwise fashion around the map.
Along with if I am remembering correctly a distance minimum between them so once you spotted a totem go in a clockwise or counter clockwise fashion around the map and check each fifth of the map to see if its totem has been found and cleansed.
How can you even tell the difference between clockwise and counter-clockwise spawning?
-
I'm sorry, but hidden totem spawns are incredibly obvious. Behind obstacles when viewed from generators (or in front of obstacles so they're plainly visible), in a small dead-end, stuff like that.

the main thing is the lack of communication means that often solos will have no idea how many totems have been done and how many are left, which discourages people from even trying to cleanse them all without a SWF. (source: my solo games/hell)
as for leaving after the gen, they still need to open the gate and do the mandatory T-bag, and that bit of time could make all the difference between letting them escape or getting the kill. (source: I main killer/hell 2: hell harder)
If you are discouraged from cleansing totems, that's a you problem, not a solo problem. You often have no idea if other survivors are working on gens either (unless you're hooked or in the dying state), but you still work on them. You need to do the same for totems.
If survivors stick around without cleansing totems to taunt the killer, getting hit by NOED is just the natural outcome and 100% deserved. There's nothing that needs to be fixed.
-
If not for the healing part, I'd swear this was me. I was hook farmed by one of my "teammates" (ended up dying with 5.7k BP or something like that), who immediately hid in a locker. When the killer returned, I went to the locker and opened it to point out that she was in it, because ######### hook farmers.

You are either refusing to see the nuance here or you're just incapable of seeing it. The OP specifically said that they think it can be done well, but they're worried that it won't be. I don't know where you're reading "I don't want diversity in my games keep it out I hate it," or anything of that sort. He even says that he doesn't think the two examples (Batwoman/TLOU2) are equally representative either, so where in all that is he saying anything about not wanting any equal representation in his media? I'd love for you to find me that quote.
Until then, sure. Try to demonize people if it helps you sleep at night.
Slight misunderstanding here: I'm not talking about the OP in this thread, but the overall complaints about giving LGBT characters the same treatment as non-LGBT characters.

And there you are again proving you're incapable of taking criticism of something you like, and would instead assume the feelings of your enemy.
Indeed two sides of the same coin.
I'm not assuming anything, that's what's being explicitly said over and over. If anything, I'm assuming people are being truthful.

Hey that’s actually a really neat / unique idea. I figure they’d go with like, the most iconic monster of the series but I honestly don’t know what that is.
That would be either a wendigo, a werewolf, or a vampire. Depends on who you ask.

She looks too much like a survivor IMO. There has to be something from the Supernatural Universe thats more....Monster like....
Well, there's the literal monsters. You could have a Djinn, for instance, although that'd probably get the game banned in certain countries.
-
Darkness Among Us (Legion) was the most disappointing chapter. From the name and description, we were expecting a multi-body killer. From the trailer, we expected a killer who could disguise himself as a survivor. Instead, what we got was Legion. Very fun to play as due to his high mobility, but highly inefficient (especially after all the nerfs) and annoying due to their self-stunning power that just makes survivors have to hold M1.

Yes.

I don't mean to sound arrogant at all. But you really couldn't think of a bug being a possibility from the get go?
Sure, but when every person who reported this as a bug so far later admitted to having disconnected a lot more than they let on, I dismissed it as a possibility.
EDIT: While yes, it is technically possible this is a heretofore unseen bug, I don't think it's worth considering until if and when OP gives us some actual data about how often they disconnect instead of using vague terms and contradicting themselves in the OP itself.

I don’t get that though, as a red rank survivor I’m waiting which implies no red or purple killers are playing... but as red killer I’m waiting which implies no red or purple survivors are playing... but my team is always 2-3 red rank survivors against a 15 killer it’s just off
Like I said, it was just a possible explanation. The simplest explanation is obvious and probably correct: matchmaking is just not working properly.
-
A possible explanation:
Queues are long because the matchmaker is trying to get you people of similar rank. You don't get matched with people of similar rank because you've been waiting too long so it just tosses you into a lobby.

Probably more I can't think of right now.

I wouldn't say those are the ONLY possibilities. DBD is far from a perfect game. It would not at all surprise me if the game bugged out and gave him a ban much higher then it intended. I'm not saying it's super likely, just saying it's not impossible.
I wouldn't say those are the ONLY possibilities.
Neither would I, which is why I said this:
Probably more I can't think of right now.
I will note, however, that such a bug has never been reported. When pressed, people have always admitted to having disconnected a lot more than they claimed.

I play this game day in and day out since I bought it because my nefew said it was good.
This games great.
But this is weird.
Luckily I play on console and can just switch account to avoid a banhammer but jeez.
Is there a way I can get this checked out?
Like a helpline for dbd?
It's not possible to be banned for 6 hours on your first DC. A few things are possible:
- You disconnect a lot more often than you realize.
- Your last disconnect was much more recent than you realize.
- Someone was playing on your account and disconnected a lot.
Probably more I can't think of right now. Regardless, you will not be able to get this lock-out lifted.
-
I do not disconnect from games EVER
I haven't disconnected for a long time and when I do it's usually because of the storms in my area.
You need to calm down and analyze how often you actually have disconnected. My guess is, you disconnect a lot more than you think. Also, I would avoid playing when there are storms if they shut off the power like that. That can damage electronic equipment like your PC - I once had to throw out an entire extension cord because it fried when the power went out. Thankfully it had a surge protector, but I shudder to think what could've happened if it didn't.
-
Because that's the most obvious conclusion taking into account all the facts.

Two sides of the same coin, these people. You're either an "SJW trying to force an agenda" or you're just a "phobic hater."
I wish people could just like or dislike something and not be accused of it having anything to do with politics. I haven't personally played the game myself, but I've heard how the story kind of goes and can understand why people would find it underwhelming. Can I personally say that I hate it? No, I haven't played it, but it's pretty pathetic to just disregard anybody who dislikes something as a "hater."
Eh, these people will always be, like I said, "two sides of the same coin." It isn't beneath some people unfortunately to be hypocritically closed-minded. :|
Indeed. One side wants to be afforded the same representation that the other already gets, whereas the other doesn't want that and thinks representation of groups other than their own is "political" or "agenda-pushing" and shouldn't be done.
Two sides of the same coin, definitely.

You may be thinking of psychopathy actually. From what I read, sociopathy tends to form from both social and environmental factors where psychopathy is biological or psychological. Meaning, psychopaths are natural born while socoipaths are molded from various factors.
DSM-5 says the terms are interchangeable and makes no distinction between them. In fact, as @LastShoe correctly pointed out, the term used is "Antisocial Personality Disorder".
-
@LastShoe said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1393075#Comment_1393075
While you are right about the first part, the second is not necessary true. If a sociophat was growing up in a good, healthy environment, he will be even able to somewhat process empathy. Even that his empathy would be compeltely different than of a healthy person.
Sociopaths will also have a moral system, which won't be based on consience, but just a strict set of rules that they will make themselfes.
When it comes to emotions... well, even the serial killer Icemen had them, mostly anger, which is suspected to be the case because of his environment, when he was a child, where he only could learn what anger and fear is.
DSM-5 says sociopathy is characterized, among other things, by a lack of concern for others. That's lack of empathy in a nutshell.
-
No.

Did you ever heard of proxi? He wasnt staying still, my dear teammates came near the hook, got cought, somebody came to unhook, he came back at the unhooked survivor, repeat this every time and you have a proxi camper, simple story, not to mention that i rushed the basement once for 2 stacks and remained there to heal after i got unhooked and he came back immediatly. I didnt give a ######### about him, i just wanted my missions and that resulted in my death. Dont give me that ######### with rank 12 rank 4, i have seen ranks 15 playing better than ranks 1 in 1.9k hours
So your team fed; say that, then, don't blame the killer. Anyway, it sounds like you made multiple mistakes. You can't just rush headlong if you want to complete challenges. You especially can't ignore the killer's presence. Finally, this situation will hopefully be prevented with the new MMR system.
PS: It's "proxy", and that's not what it means at all.

Its abit annoying, but It doesnt really affect him in nearly the same way slowing down from bottle throws did. Bottle throw slowdown affected ya during the chases, which could result in chases lasting alot longer. Slowdown from reload typically happens outside of a chase, so sure...youll get to the next gen 1 second slower than you would have otherwise, but its not typically a game changer.
I played Clown, but I didn't experience this bug. What's it like, exactly?

@OniKobayashi said:

Doesn't always have to be natural. Adverse experiences in life can cause mental breaking and turn people who were never naturally apathetic into sociopaths. Again, excessive stress can cause outlashes from anyone.
"Breaks" and the coping mechanisms developed thereafter are not the same as sociopathy, though. Sociopaths are violent individuals, which is why, sooner or later, they land in prison.
-
To answer the OP, I'm a bit of a pyromaniac, so I'd probably have some fire-related abilities. I'm thinking something with a flamethrower (or just shooting fire from my hands because that'd be about 10x cooler) that leaves behind fire surfaces not unlike the Executioner's trails, but they damage survivors.
-
@OniKobayashi said:

We all are, but our upbringing conditions us to see it as wrong. When pushed to our limits, sometimes that conditioning fails.
Except sociopaths have abnormal brain structures that resemble brain damage in key structures of the brain related to normal human emotions like empathy. So no, we're really not.
