I think we're at a point where the 'DBD killer' status is a total myth.
Asyms are inherently imbalanced and dbd has finally hit a stride of regular small but significant changes. Every other game has a glory period of 2-3 weeks, then the meta starts to settle and it gets dull.
I think tellingly every content creator who's openly disdainful toward DbD, tries to jump ship and take their content in a new direction whenever the get the chance (last year, hide and seek VhS, evil dead, dbd clone prop Hunt game I've forgotten the name of), but always they come back to producing mostly dbd content.
-
The really wild thing is that we just had 4 outfits drop (Feng, Kate, Yun jin and trickster). I don't understand why they didn't just hold one back and actually release something new and exclusive.
Truly baffling.

Unpopular opinion incoming:
Solo queue is fine. You can't fix bad players that don't want to improve and suicide/dc whenever they face a minor challenge.
Agree with this 100% I play survivor more often than killer because it's a lot less stressful.
Solo can suck sometimes, but it's always down to player decisions. I dedicate at least 1 perk slot to aura reading and can see exactly how other people are playing- hell I've been on the hook with kindred and seen 2 people in the other corner of the map while the third is getting chased. They can see each other too, they just don't care.
The whole 'fix soloQ' thing is just 'i don't want to have to give up DH IW or DS to actually coordinate with my team'.
Killer needs help before solo do (in line with nerfs to the more oppressive killers)

Incorrect, if you've been playing this game long enough, you will have killer offerings (offering that let you play as a different killer) for the trial. These offerings were retired but still sit in my inventory.
The reason the cakes should be retired is that there are many people who hoard the cakes and never use them for the intended purposes but merely sit on them. You can look at other streamers showing off how many cakes they have from past events some in the hundreds place.
So in a word... Spite?
-
Seen 'Drussy' thrown around a bit...
-
I miss being able to switch killers in lobby. The queues are longer for killer most of the time and the one I'm playing usually isn't the one that needs their bloodweb filled out.
-
I barely use the forum and I liked Orion's input- I saw him calmly express his opinion to people who make me want to pull my hair out. It says a LOT that this is a big enough deal to lead to such drastic action.
Massively respect the integrity, hope he does well.
-
Same on PS4 here too. Two crashes, once as survivor once as killer.
-
I think the perks will become general perks so they can still be tweaked and out on the shrine. They'll probably update the icons for inner strength and baby sitter to be non-specific (like unbreakable before bill was added to console).
I'll be very disappointed if they aren't able to tweak demo anymore. He doesn't need to be busted, but he never really hit a fun sweet spot for me. Some of his add-ons are still quite bad too and it's a bit depressing to have that potential locked away forever.
Also curious about the trophy situation. Are there now 6 trophies that new players just can't ever get. It's not the end of the world, but it's messy.

I don't mind if the reskin is from something that's on the store, it's truly sad when the reskin is from their base outfit
This is the saving grace for the tome in my eyes. I like to mic and match survivor outfits in particular, having recolours of store outfits is a great way to have more to play around with rather than my 6th Nea beanie I'm never going to wear.

The texture for this Zarina head was always meant to be this but they forgot to add.
Fine, but that sucks because I only got it because I liked how it looked before and now I'm not going to use it.
You can see how that is still a problem right?
-
One thing I like in this rift that I hope continues:
Nea, Zarina, Nurse, Billy, legion and maybe Jake (I can't actually tell if it's the case with his yellow outfit) are all getting mix and match outfits which are recolours of previously released BUT non-default outfits.
I like this a lot more than 70% of the rift cosmetics being recolours of the default looks- I'm not going to touch the default huntress variant from this rift, solid chance I might find something I like from the jumble sale looks of some of the others though!
-
Haven't got a before shot but one of the most random is the addition of streaky eyeliner to one of my favourite zarina heads
No on is talking about Nancy's close eyes and eye bags, so is this a known cosmetic bug?

I don’t understand how this is not feedback? the mods are still only humans and can’t move over every thread instantly, especially now that pretty much everyone posts in the wrong section..
Feedback applies to 80% of general. Just kind of sucks to be randomly picked as the person who's post is gonna get shoved into a part of the forum no one is going to see.
If I had any faith that feedback would get me anywhere I'd post here. As it is I most just want to complain and have others agree with how much things suck- which is kind of the point of general.

I always play with Tinkerer in mind, but it doesn’t change that once one or two people are eliminated that the only way you can play against it is to hope for the hatch. At that point there simply is not enough distractions left to make repairs viable. It gets very boring.
This is something I haven't really thought of.
I think there should be more effort to balance perks around game state.
So killer perks that start very strong and get weaker for each player who is eliminated, survivor perks that get stronger for the same.
-
I enjoy playing against nurse- as a solo console player I rarely survive against a good one, but there's an intensity to nurse chases that other killers truly lack.
I don't feel rewarded for running a strong loop against an M1 killer. I do feel rewarded for making use of LOS breaks/last minute changes in direction against nurse.
The skill ceiling (and floor) are both high enough that a truly dangerous nurse is a very rare thing to come across.
-
Small game is in an amazing spot as an anti-totem counter- been using it for the archive and the counter in particular is incredibly powerful- I know when to stop bothering seeking out totems as well as where they are so minimal time is wasted.
I wish killers had more/stronger options to disable survivor perks in the way that survivors can do to killers.
Seems like the team with 16 perks between them shouldn't have such a strong advantage over the team with 4 but idk.

3 original realms with no main building map (Shelfter wood, wreck yard, rot field) should be deleted.
Those are basically the same map with different environment
I agree, but I'd move the shelter tree to another map.
Possibly delete Azarov's and move it's structure to wreckers and the map shape is much nicer to play in.

You don't want to reduce things to sides yet you do just that.
The thread is talking about why people are saying wraith is unfun and why people are complaining, so I gave an anecdote based on my personal experiences as to why that might be.
Also, I never even said bamboozle was meta, I said it was annoying and not fun to go against when paired with Wraith's mobility and addons and that lots of wraiths are running it (Which they are)
Actually baffled that you take someone's personal opinion and try to discount it as 'survivor sided comment'.
I don't see how it's survivor sided to criticise a style of gameplay that I don't find enjoyable.
Let me simplify:
Wraith is mid tier at best.
Bamboozle is a pathetic perk to complain about.
Play the game for more than 8 hours before giving anecdotes.
:)
-
@Brokenbones said:
My main complaint about wraith isn't the killer himself, it's how people are playing him
They rarely commit to chases and it just robs survivors of the fun part of the game most of the time. That's not a wraith exclusive problem but that's probably why people have started calling him boring
Not to mention the amount of bamboozle using wraiths I've seen. Basically "no you don't get to play the game"
I don't like reducing things to sides, but:
This is an incredibly survivor sided comment. Running around in circles isn't interesting for the killer.
Any number of survivor perks are 'no you don't get to play the game perks' to a degree that bamboozle doesn't even get close to. Blocking 1 window for a short period of time is no where near as bad as successfully mindgaming a survivor only to have them dead hard out of a well earnt hit and extending the chase indefinitely. Bamboozle isn't even meta lol.
Hit and run gameplay is generally more rewarding for the killers who can get away with it and it doesn't eliminate the ability to play well on the survivors part.

the changes don't even address the issue with her playstyle.
they just make it clunky and frustrating for the user. It's so ######### dumb. How can devs claim bad clunky gameplay design is balance?
This.
Now instead being strong at camping and slugging, they're just strong at camping.
They needed to reduce respawn time on Victor after he gets kicked while also giving Charlotte something in her kit to compensate. Maybe some kind of rage mode that activates if Victor is hurt?
But whatevs yeah, it's frustrating
-
I agree. I'd love to run something other than BBQ, but it's basically a lock based on the bloodpoints alone. Even bad games are less tilting when you leave with double what you'd earn by default.
Maybe they could ameliorate the problem by adding this effect to otherwise really bad perks and having the effect stack- like if predator awarded up to 100% bonus in hunting for example it might actually see use.
At this point allowing this kind of stacking wouldn't even be game breaking- if I managed to make 300k from a single game it still wouldn't put a dent in unlocking all perks on everyone.

New cosmetics :
- Trapper = liking the weapon and the body, mask gives him a goofy look but it's ok !
- Plague = amazing body that i can already see mix and match with other helmet <3
- Kate = love the hair style, and i see some great mix and match potential even tho i don't play her at all, i know people love it
- Bill = i don't know Left 4 Dead, so no idea if it's a skin from the game or no, but it's really nice to have a new cosmetic for him. Kinda disappointed he stays the same age tho, was expecting to see him young like in the trailer.
- Claudette = it's a cool cosmetic, i'm not sure it fit Claudette personnality 100% but i definitly will mix and match it ! (great job to the artist <3)
- Zarina = loving to see more diversity in her outfits ! she only get good cosmetics quite honestly and this one is another great one !
This is a really solid rift. The last couple of have been lacking (last one was carried by how ridiculously good the Oni skin was), so I consider this one a return to form.
Really dig that this one fills out the rift with less supported killers and survivors rather than the usual Claudette, Dwight and meg reskins.

Trapper for me is the weakest. By the time he’s fully set up, 2 gens will fly and his snowball is much weaker than hag’s. He also takes extreme skill to get good results from, and the average red rank killer will struggle.
He has to go out of his way to collect his traps too, which are based on RNG and can be in places you’d never go otherwise.
Fair play. I think we're using different approaches to evaluate weakness- I find trapper immensely enjoyable and often do well with him.
I do agree that he needs some love- basekit brown trapper bag would make a world of difference and actually open up options when it comes to load out.
But yeah for me trickster is 100% the weakest killer.
-
@WexlerWendigo said:
They added his buffs to live during the PTB. He’s been buffed for a while now, and is no longer the weakest killer imo.
Can I ask who is the weakest killer?
I see clown and trapper thrown around a lot, but clown downs survivors faster than trickster and trapper is pretty powerful with game knowledge and good reads on survivors (imo).
-
I'm glad hag isn't legendary as she doesn't have to be and mixing and matching skins is pretty much the best part of cosmetics.

DWM can used every 40 seconds. Lucky Break eventually runs out entirely.
*edit, not sure why I replied to this comment, think I misread it as a defense of baby sitter
At maximum: If you run babysitter and unhook every other survivor twice you generate 48 seconds of this effect and reveal your aura for a total of 24 seconds.
As opposed to lucky break granting the effect for 90 seconds at undoubtedly more useful times.
-
Twins need a soft rework. Their base power is ok, but it needs more complexity. I think giving Charlotte some kind of power based on whether she's attached to Victor or not is one way to add this complexity.
Changing how Charlotte plays after Victor gets crushed is another really interesting idea.
There's nothing wrong with altering the mechanics to avoid unfun gameplay for survivors but the idea that we're now moving away from the twins heyday is kind of depressing considering how little they've done with them.
-
I do this too. I really liked the challenge of playing with a limited perk pool, especially when i was learning the game and specific killer strength weaknesses. For survivor it has meant that certain survivors use different perk combinations based on what they have unlocked- means every game isn't necessarily identical and sometimes I have to be a bit creative with builds.
It's also a good thing to get a feel for playing the game without the strongest stuff available- can be painful at times, but definitely stops complacency.
I'm on the other side now and almost all of my killers are p3 and of those around 5 have all perks.
For survivor I do something similar but only have a single one at p3 + all perks at a time. Have Dwight and Claud drained of BP offerings, meg is active and Jane is waiting in the wings to be the next one.

I usually like Scott's input on things but this felt like a really random topic he just pulled out of literally nowhere.
Felt awkward tbh. I just wish he'd be happy he's actually beyond miserable when he talks about or plays this game like my god man, if you aren't enjoying yourself just play something else. I literally only watch him for his constructive thinking / rework vids of late but actual gameplay feels depressing to watch when all the person does is complain and say how much the game sucks lol
I've not interacted with the dbd subreddit (not sure I want to bcuz I just don't care much for reddit) but I really don't see what the point is of generalizing entire groups of people like he does.
This is how I feel. I like Scott a lot, but he's one of a few dbd content creators that seem to despise the game on a profound level (Farmer John also comes to mind), while justifying it through faults with the game.

Generally if it is a SWF they don't do this. Instead a SWF will have one try to get the killers attention and die because they know where the hatch is. Or they will try to raid chests in hopes of finding a key if enough gens were done and they can do a key escape. So if you suspect a SWF that COULD escape if they found a key - closely monitor chests and you will find at least one of them :)
Swf+key makes the most sense! I'm just gonna chalk it up to coincidence as no one else seems to be experiencing the same thing.

Well, thats what killers taught solo survivors. When 2 are left, and you do gens, then you are the one that is found and gets killed, while the one hidding often survives.
And while some killers claim they go for the other one instead, i never had such a killer myself. I had one telling me he would have liked to kill the other instead but couldn´t find him, which is kind of the point of hidding.
It starts happen with 3 ppl alive, but very rarly, and most often if 2 of them are an swf and just wait for the last to get caught or finish a gen so the hatch spawns or something.
Well killers, survivors do learn the lessons you teach them.
Pretty bad take. Once a game is being held hostage, I'll just to what I can to end it, so I can play with people who want to play the game.
Pretty galxay brain to blame survivors taking the game hostage on killer behaviour so props I guess.

So what you're saying with that whole text is "it is what it is".
Want to any anything that actually goes against anything of what I just said or how to make it better for solo Q?
Ok.
-
@Marigoria said:
As someone who mostly plays Solo Q and doesn't use DS, the new nerf doesn't affect me too much.
The only issue I see with it would be in a situation like:
I'm on my last hook and injured, I see with Kindred the killer chasing someone else when someone is on their first hook.
I go to rescue the person on hook, and they refuse to heal me because they don't want to lose their DS, even though I am on my last hook and they aren't.
Anyone who has played solo Q, knows that you get a lot of selfish survivors as team mates, and I feel like with DS deactivating when you heal someone else, it will promote more selfish behaviors. Maybe even make more people bring self care, which IMO isn't ideal.
Another issue I have with DS, is not really with the nerf itself, since in this case it still acts the same way.
Example situation: I get unhooked, I have DS, get tunneled off of hook and get downed. I hit DS. Run the killer a bit more, get downed again and hooked.
Then I get unhooked again, and there's not really much stopping the killer from tunneling me a second time.
I feel like with this new nerf, it would be fair to make DS activate on both hook stages, maybe with a shorter timer (lets say 30 seconds each time).
Disclaimer: I think lately these forums don't really promote healthy discussion, and there's a certain narrative of "x bad y good" being pushed. So with that in mind, I'd like to have an actual intelligent conversation about what can and can't be done about the examples I just stated above.
Technically a lot of survivor perks prioritise individual safety over team safety. When meg sprintbursts past you she's decided you're taking the chase, not her. When Claudette spends a minute selfcaring in the corner of the map, she's decided her 1 health state is more important than getting a gen done. Etc. Etc.
If someone wants to use empathy or bond to lead a chase to another survivor they can do that- it's selfish and potentially harmful gameplay, but this is an inherent part of the survivor experience: you are placed with 3 random people and the variety in skill and teamwork dictates how each game goes.
Basically your example is very niche and the kind of player who is playing that way is already a selfish player, they're just finding new ways to express that selfishness.
As for tunnelling a survivor who has already used their DS makes total sense to me- I think this will be less of an issue now that DS isn't likely to be used as abusively though.
-
Yeah I understand what's happening with 2 people- it's when I've got 3 or 4 people hiding pretty much from the getgo.
I've never been under the impression the report system actually does something, but I suppose reporting when it happens is probably my best bet.
I dunno. It's just been happening a lot recently, might just be bad luck.

Yeah what makes huntress and slinger fun is the fact that dodging the shot feels satisfying. Dodging trickster feels like “great another 59 to go”
Also you aren't actually dodging- the spread means you can easily move into shots and also means that the killer can miss at point blank range. Unskillet and unrewarding for the killer, unskilled and unrewarding for the survivor.
-
I made a post yesterday about how bad he was and I totally forgot to rant about how terrible main event is.
It's like the opposite if a normal release where players find niche ways to play to a killers strengths: instead everytime I look on here someone has found a new way in which he's bad.

The build: Monitor and abuse, enduring (fun) or ruin (good), corrupt, any other perk (pref pop or sloppy).
The point of this build is completely reliant on monitor and abuse, his near enough silent terror radius and his very short height.
See where I'm going with this?
Literally just play him like a stealth killer but you want to get hits as soon as possible, if you get a hit with m1 or laceration, drop chase and go to someone else. Then keep up the momentum of injures or go back to anyone injured to secure a down. Nurses would help and if you have weak gamesense I would most certainly recommend taking it or whispers as your last perk
PRIORITISE M1S OVER LACERATION, only use blades at loops where you know you cannot m1 them.
Basically hit and run.
His power is so weak that playing him the "intended" way will result in more losses than playing perkless clown against 4 mans. How this weak of a killer managed to actually make it live is beyond me.
If anyone else has found any strategies please feel free to comment it I really want this dude to be good.
EDIT: If you are trying this I would recommend purchasing one of his darker cosmetics so you don't stand out like a sore thumb when traversing the map.
You don't want pop as his mobility is too bad to make use of it.
Ruin+undying is slightly better though he can't protect totems well or pressure gens so he gets terrible value from them.
I'm gonna be honest. Endgame builds based around noed are probably the best bet!
-
I think one of the worst things is that survivors aren't holding back at all- trickster is just bullying fodder to the survs I play against.
-
Every game is basically:
-Going to try and get value out of his power
-Oh no 2 gens are done better just M1 to end this chase
-Oh no I'm being looped on a Z wall because I'm so slow
- guess I'll camp since by the time I head to a gen it'll be done?
I made a post with a couple of changes when I saw him originally, but I think I might've undershot the things I was suggesting.
I objected to people requesting the laceration be permanent at the time, can't help but agree it makes total sense now.
