How would you keep the retaining infection on hook without massively incentivizing tunneling?

Hm, i don't really know. I think her design is deeply flawed, but i was enjoying her anyways until that point. To be clear i do think it was a problem but i just feel like bhvr have left us with a killer that just isn't interesting

  • I was very interested in playing her on PTB, i liked the idea of manipulating the mushroom economy to make survivors stay broken and vulnerable kinda like plague. She got buffed quite a bit for a live and became too overpowered. In the following hotfixes she got various nerfs and one of them completely killed any interactivity she had for me - leech is lost on being hooked.

It honestly doesn't feel like i am playing a game when i play as Krasue anymore. Infecting a survivor takes no skill and from there it's just a case of brute forcing loops with the head form. Survivors have counterplay and if they try to do it you have to always respond in the same way. She has a lot of fixed delays in her power, its really boring. A huge failure in design imo and continues the streak of unenjoyable original killers.

  • For survivors it's quality of the voice acting and if i like their style.

For killers, i'd like them to feel engaging and satisfying to play and ability to achieve max bloodpoints and emblems is preferred but not required. Generally i value mobility on killers a lot because it makes them versatile, and i like some chase lethality. I also like atmospheric and thematic killers. Also i like killers that have a variety of fun add-ons, this is very important because it contributes their longevity and worthiness of p100'ing.

  • I think he will be fine because he has mobility. Pyramid Head especially feels like garbage because Hold W. Pinhead has other problems but lack of mobility means he is not very forgiving.

  • Chaos shuffle because its the only real way to add some variety to the game.

I also quite enjoyed Lights Out 2.0, the atmosphere was great.

  • yeah, i like him a lot.

Problem with Krasue is that her infection and the potential to put the mushroom economy in your favour was the only interesting thing, but it also highly encouraged tunelling, so it was basically removed. Now there is nothing interesting about playing her… she is the least interactive killer in the game imo for both sides. She's good at downing isolated survivors but if you get body blocked you are probably just gonna lose it's that simple

  • He is a lot of fun. Infact i really like kaneki, springtrap, vecna. But Krasue and Houndmaster have been awful to play. In general, i just wish original killers were more fun to play.

  • Yeah

  • I hope they can make vecna really cool in dbd. I like him in stranger things but he was super underwhelming in season 5. If dbd can portray him in the way i wish season 5 did, i will appreciate bhvr so much.

I initially really didn't like the survivor choices but i am eager to see how it will be done anyways. The cover art is great and you can see there is a boon totem, i would be really excited for a new boon totem perk as i currently run circle of healing and illumination regularly.

  • why would they do that? that'd make the map extremely barren and less unique

  • It does not, because it's programmed to not activate on team wide killer aura reveals.

  • Uh, i mean they explicitly said they didn't forget about him.

Does that mean he will be added at some point, not necessarily. We'll just have to wait and see

I've played in multiple time zones and what I've noticed is it's not the place that matters, it's the time of day. I mostly play between midnight and 6am in my region and I get sweaty survivor teams with flashlights, DH, DS, Made for This, We're Gonna Live Forever, and Background Player who play super aggressive. But on my days off, if I can get on at 2pm or something reasonable like that, it's a bit less psychotic. Not 100%, but better.

Hopefully whatever they have in store for next year's matchmaking changes isn't crap. I would also like to feel like I'm consistently facing people on my same level.

I mean both matters. Just look at Asia for example, survivors are actually dominant in that region and killer is clearly the unpopular role.

In my region, killers feel dominant and super sweaty whereas survivors are super casual

  • Maybe its your loadouts? Once i started restricting myself to killers that i like and suit my playstyle i have barely felt any frustration as killer since, more boredom and dissatisfaction with the quality of the game.

  • They said they are not gonna pursue this anymore because after two iterations, both failed to make the game better overall. Instead they are looking at better tutorials and matchamaking.

Like it or not i think it is time to accept tunnelling as part of the game.

Just to note that the actors are both full age and if there is any problems with their characters age that they portrait in the show they can just make the entity take them few years later in the lore. So in short this conversation is odd as there has been few cases already in earlier DLC's where the survivors and killers are not taken from the same time. Good example is Yui and Oni and Yoichi and Onryo.

I would bet that they will address it with the lore stating when they were taken by the entity. Simple and easy.

    You missed the point entirely

The technacility is what matters and will go through because its legal part that makes it go through and be released, I get you dont like it but there isnt much you can do to stop it because stranger things fun base in DBD is pretty big I would say and they wanted this long time ago or something simular.

The thing is some people might look like kids or be shorter than kids but if their id is valid and they are 18+ they can buy a beer in some countries, so if they dont be under 18 then its ok legaly.

um no bhvr is not legally obligated to do this, it's their decision and yes it has many factors including netflix however i disapprove of what they are doing and i want that to be known

First inpression is one thing, having concern is nice but changes nothing untill we are 100% sure how its done so only in PTB we will know and those “legal” parts are quite very important than you think because the kids being in most contries people under age of 18 is the legal part that you have concern about.

Hate it,down vote it as you like or repert it but thats just cold facts.

And again we are kicking someone who looks like baby since twins chapter so by feeling it not being right is good moral concern but I dont think it will change anything when money are at the table.

The technicality of what a child is, is not important, it's simply the fact that these characters as survivors as a concept makes me uncomfortable.

It absolutely does change things when we are the customers. I am already very frustrated with the quality of… most of the content in the game right now and if the killer is mid and i dislike the survivors as much as i predict. I am probably not going to end up buying the chapter.

As I mentioned above this is probably already solved by the devs so wait a while and then rage, now you can just ask and wait (their age will be changed so its legal to beat dustin in DBD).

I am not "raging" i am just sharing a concern. I am doing that now whilst it's on my mind, i am not denying the possibility that my opinion will chance on PTB, these are just first impressions. And again, i do not care about legality, it's not appropriate in a discussion about how a decision or choices about content makes me feel. Because even if there are laws against these things. As we've already elaborated you can just find loop holes around them by saying these character are 18 when clearly it does not feel that way.

  • @BongoBoys said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/462069/dustin-and-eleven-as-survivors-is-wrong

There are plenty of Horror and horror games of kids getting killed plus they are 16 years old now and that's legal adult age in many places I don't see why this is a big deal if they were still 13 and under then i would have agreed they shouldn't be in dbd but this is just a nothing burger to complain about.

    name ONE

  • @Pulsar said:

Yeah, it's a weird choice for them to choose the kids.

Hopper and Joyce are right there.

    Yeah that's how i feel.

I'm a bit conflicted on Joyce because similar to the kids she also doesn't really ever get harmed however that would be an opportunity to make it scary.

Doing the same thing with the children just makes me uncomfortable… like MCote has said before "We don't kill kids" but they are willing to add characters that are 16 yrs old?

My first impressions are sour because of this

  • @Wezqu said:

Yeah but it was just tunneling feature when survivors did not lose it on hooking.

This is fair and a real flaw with the design of it

However now that it gets removed from survivors for free, there's practically no way to manage the mushroom economy to your advantage as a Krasue anymore.

Which means that it's just been turned into a prerequisite before you can injure them with your power which is very boring imo and has been done many times with other killers. It also makes her play very unbalanced because the infection is braindead easy, head form is very oppressive but it's restricted to only attacking leeched survivors.

Not weak, possibly still OP, but very uninteresting and frustrating imo.

  • You will get flamed for this opinion but i agree with you

She was overpowered before her nerfs but the nerfs removed any strategical potential she has and made her more restrictive to play. She's very oppressive at most pallet loops but that's it. Her mobility is too slow with a 40m terror radius to be used like other mobility options in the game.

  • This hillbilly outfit was in a bundle last year but not this year afaik.

They likely will not sell it in the store because the legs are the exact same as the default and they cant sell it as an outfit without that piece but they also really can't sell that piece. So they need to remake that but they have not

  • I don't think it was a waste of time because we finally saw in practise what both radical solutions and minor encouragements did to affect tunnelling and ultimately both of them were not good for the game.

I also think and hope that they didn't actually spend that much time on these things but only promised them very far in advance because i'd be disappointed if the things that were put on ptb took any more than a few weeks of design/planning.

The time they have been spending is hopefully on ensuring quality and stability of the upcoming stranger things chapter.

If it doesn't show then it will be devastating

  • I hate the idea of Dustin and Eleven being survivors. They are still basically children and i dont care about age technicalities or the fact other survivors were aged up. It should always be avoided and these choices over Hopper, Joyce and/or Robin would be so… wrong.

While I'm thinking of Feedback to give for the new Betahub, there are no directions that I can find that instruct players how to find and attach their Log files, yet I see plenty of Steam players reporting bugs without actually including their log files.

    Some instructions may be helpful.

Apparently they can access it from your Cloud ID

  • have you tried to do it, maybe it would reject it

  • @ShanoaLegendaryPlz said:

Usualy get them on the year they came out and they seemed to refuse giving her a sweater last year let alone this one. Im guessing the license was being passed to new owners at the time or something. I dont know when her contract is up for renewal but if it is new license owners maybe theyl be up for more cosmetics or a sweater like how they gave her the latest 2. Maybe even more outfits once the 2 new games release. But im guessing they are stearing away from "survivor" lara and trying to do stuff with the new version.

The simplest answer is that the license holders just said No. Trevor doesnt have one despite konami being a big collaborator

  • What would you suggest that the devs to do alleviate killer anxiety?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4039592#Comment_4039592

She isnt bad, if she worked than she would be better in power than wesker (unless that wesker player is using all his techs on first try like hug tech or instahug tech or bluetooth or whats it called etc. than wesker can be way unpredicteable and can work better), she gets acces to better mobility, stealth (dog when send on search mode has lulaby but when you are in his lullaby range you cant see killers radius indicator or hear it so she has basicaly some stealth, I got catched by it of guard two times on indoor map so thats how i know about it), she has solid aniloop and I would say with same dificulty as wesker but with all he qualities she beats him in potencial only problem are tens of bugs that make her unplayable compare to wesker.

Its his choice and he has point in one thing that she should be already fixed because if he would complain here she is weak than I would give him same advice to switch to better killer but that isnt houndmasters case, she is buged most of all things in the game and for year or more and ignored (Im starting to believe its intentional) which is something no one can deny and it should be changed.

I never said she was bad. However in either case the solution is the same… just play a different killer. There's little reason to believe BHVR are going to fix the issues she has. I mean sure complaining here is valid however i don't think it's gonna do anything cuz everyone knows houndmaster is in a horrible state the devs just have decided not to act on it.

  • Tbh i've accepted that the developers have abandoned this killer. She always felt unfinished and she still does. 1yr later, minimal changes AND cosmetics. I wouldn't hold out hope for them improving her, i think they lack incentive + motivation. They did improve Knight a lot and i was hoping they would do the same thing with houndmaster but it doesn't seem to be happening. They couldn't even be bothered to change the rope add-on after saying they would revisit it this year.

For your own sanity, i suggest playing a more popular killer.

  • Because it breaks the DS prompt thats the only reason. It wasn't present on the kaneki ptb but using forever entwined with fire up would result in this issue so the cap is how they addressed it.

You sound like you didnt know that same thing blight, bubba, billy can do and much easier what a shock, on top of that two of them are way harder to counter than mayers.

Myers is not like these killers. You can loop blight unless the loop is long with straight edges. You can also loop bubba, its very hard to him to outplay an undropped pallet without going into a tantrum. Billy requires precision and as well an appropriately shaped loop.

Myers attack is extremely flexible like pig or chucky except it instadowns. You must pre-drop if he is in evil incarnate. I don't think it's overpowered but i think it's pretty boring. Decent myers are going to steam roll survivors that don't have this level of understanding that i do

  • @drag27 said:

well i mean you guys that were complaining about tombstone asked for this. you wanted a rework, you got one so you cant complain just because it wasnt in the exact specified way.

we literally can also this is 100% worth taking over tombstone

The problem is the killer itself not the perk it only makes sense to Killswitch Dracula

Debatable but the thing is nemesis had a similar bug and they decided to kill switch the perk.

  • Impossible to loop doesn't really mean he's overpowered. You just have to pre-drop. He's boring to play against but i guess a straight forward brute basic killer is what he's supposed to be

The nerfs you are suggesting are just reverts and in that he was literally downgraded from his original design.

  • @Skillfulstone said:

Honestly, it doesn't change much, won't be forever, and could honestly have long-term benefits.

The perks will become free and general perks, which means Killers get a new half-decent slowdown (Dying Light) and half-decent chase perk (STBFL) without having to pay, and Survivors get DS no longer paywalled. Less paywalled stuff is always nice and anti-tunnel perks that aren't paywalled is even better.

We all know the new game will flop in about a year (since Illfonic and Gun Media are behind the game, it's doomed to fail by default) and the license holders will come crawling back to BHVR.

It's a shame for new players who won't be able to get him, it's also a shame to see the chapter that truly put DBD on the map temporarily leave, but it's not only temporary but also gives a couple nice things to free players.

The game might flop but honestly. I think it looks quite good and i think for the sake of brand and character integrity i think the exclusivity is beneficial.

I hope that if/when halloween returns to dbd, john carpenter will be involved to improve myers.

  • The loss of Halloween license doesn't really concern me. It's unusual for live service games to sell collabs year round, let alone for 9yrs straight. And tbh i don't feel myers has really been done justice in dbd anyway. They turned him into a brute, only identifiable playstyle that remains is using scratched mirror. I think the loss of the map is a shame though.

  • Im guessing there may be a surge of new people using it. Not sure if they'll stick with it though, the recent changes although seemingly minor have decreased the effectiveness of tunnelling moderately in my experience.

  • this happens repeatedly and preventative measures have yet to be implemented

    thanks for the heads up

  • The only problem i have is that you need to share your cloud ID. Was gonna report a bug a couple days ago but cloud id is a requirement and i couldn't be bothered to open the game for it. And i don't have it written down anywhere because that's not secure apparently.

  • I guess but wouldn't they already have done it between 2019-2021? generally i've noticed if a licensed character is eligible for an ugly sweater or blighted cosmetic it happens in their introductory year.

  • Definitely kindred. I've always felt like Bond gives too much irrelevant info, that is sometimes relevant but my brain just tunes it out.

  • It was awful and it discouraged me from playing because it was the more popular queue. But i don't believe thats because it what the people wanted i think it's more because the average person will see orange banner, limited time thing, "i should do this". Same with survivor 2v8 i think people were more willing to play because of the bloodpoint bonus not because it's actually a better mode

  • I havent seen much but i've noticed the edge map pallets on pale rose are much stronger than theyve ever been.

Pallet quantity also didnt seem to go down

  • @MoZo said:

the audio bugs are very frustrating to play with. every time i pull out my axe as springtrap, my audio cuts in and out. at the start of the match the audio will just be completely muted sometimes. also apparently Pyramid head can once again get the loud noise notification for someone uncaging a survivor. i hope that the update is soon and they get a lot of the newly introduced bugs fixed.

I'm glad someone else has brought up the springtrap audio bug. I find it mildly irritating but it's been enough to make me not want to play him.
