  • A little bit. Yesterday went against a lot of genrushers. Today was too easy. I think it's about the same.

If i had to guess survivors are maybe compensating for how good vecna and his perks can be.

  • I enjoy new vecna because you are never truly safe and have to always be dodging. The clock interaction is satisfying. Springtrap because he feels fair in a chase and the doors can have fun interactions

Demogorgon and Pig feel pretty interactive and fair as well.

  • it must be inconsistent because i've tried vine attacking a survivor off hook with 4 WB tokens and they just take the endurance hit

  • Yes. The fact you have to hit 2 shots in a row consistently to get any value of your power otherwise you are not achieving anything is horribly unforgiving.

  • I feel like the problem with Off The Record and post hook stealth in general is that mobility killers aren't as affected by it. You can quickly follow a possible path as a mobility killer and get line of sight of the unhooked survivor meanwhile most killers if they don't see anything at the hook, they have to go somewhere else. I think this is why Elusive off hook didn't get through, and why scratch marks were removed from Off The Record.

I think it's current iteration is pretty bad though, sadly. Since i don't feel like the game favours stealth currently, i don't know how this perk should be adjusted.

  • Apparently someone on reddit asked support about this at one point and the response they got was that the entity doesn't need to give it to killers anymore. So vecna dnd will probably be the one and only.

I say good riddance because imo i think it takes too much away from their design.

Freddy is one killer that could have had it as indicated by his bio but im glad he doesn't

And you're fixating on the idea that the implementation of my idea has to be revolutionary and dramatically improve the game for killers. My suggestion is not that in any way.

Buffing/nerfing killers is something that BHVR has done a lot in the past and many players on both sides always have an issue with it.

If you buff weaker killers, then this harms low MMR players as weak killers are far more prevalent in low MMR matches.

My idea, in my opinion has no weakness. It's a nice little bonus that nobody has to comply to. The only criticism you have of it is that it doesn't revolutionise the issue you personally have with weaker killers.

Just to make it clear, you wouldn't have to comply with the weekly killer incentives if you don't want to play that killer. Just the same as there are many killer-based incentives in quests/rifts but for me they remain untouched as I don't play killer.

You are missing the fact that this kind of idea pressures people to play what they otherwise wouldn't for a progression bonus. That's hard to pass up on. It will lead to people getting frustrated because underplayed killers are underplayed for good reasons.

  • I do wish that it was used more actively but maybe it's not a wortwhile endeavour. After all they are basically putting in a mechanic from an entirely different game. It ticks a box for me in terms of representation and maybe that's all it really needs to do.

I think survivors definitely can get use out of it but you need to have a high understanding of the game and the killer. Majority of players really are just better off ignoring them.

I think one thing that could be done to make the cameras more appealing to use and close the gap between swf and solo q is make it so survivors are revealed when you are using the cameras. This makes it much easier as a solo q survivor to quickly reveal springtrap in a chase. Which btw, i dont think is as overpowered as some people seem to believe. Seeing the aura of a ranged killer is not that great. It mostly helps for the short time that you have the axe embedded in you.

But i think he should get some minor buffs at the same time. A cooldown reduction in his axe abilities seems like it could be reasonable.

  • Definitely not. Basically every streamer uses it. Anytime access to reshade has been blocked for any reason by the anti-cheat, BHVR gets it working again within hours.

No, they don't. Killers enable tunneling by going straight back to hook once they hear that unhook notification so they can immediately chase the unhooked Survivor again. And with all the Killers that have mobility and teleportation nowadays, waiting to unhook makes no difference. The Killer will be riding their bumper again in a heartbeat.

That's called punishing mistakes and getting rewarded for it. Y'know, something that usually happens in online pvp games?

Mobility options doesn't really change this. Just wait until they are chasing a survivor across the map, you will have enough time to unhook and move away from the hook before they get back.

  • I don't think the percentage nerf was a compensation for the duration increase i think it was the other way around.

Respectfully, they are not the issue. The issue is that, instead of teaching players how to play their overwhelming game, BHVR gives buffs to the Survivor role that won't make any difference if, as mentioned, players aren't taught how to play the game.

honestly agree. Too many survivors enable tunnelling by unhooking too early and they need to be held accountable rather than just removing that challenge from the game.

Kinda same with slugging really only exceptions i feel are certain killers on small maps. Otherwise its usually a result of bad positioning

  • It's because the endurance effect has a short delay when being unhooked so that it starts when you regain movement. Usually during this period you're invulnerable anyway but i guess vecna's attack goes through this so thats probably what they need to address

  • Considering they have had mechanics designed to counter this from happening, it's obviously never been intended.

If the ability is too strong, this shouldn't be the counterbalance. It's unintuitive from a newer player's perspective and i personally don't think it's fair from a killers perspective because there is already ways to prevent yourself from getting into the situation where he is grappling over a pallet already. Don't drop a pallet in a loop without stunning him and if his power is off cooldown. It's classic counterplay to many killer abilities.

It's funny how trusting this community is to BHVR. I mean, why are you so assured this whole vote is even real? There is no way to confirm it, as it's done through their own closed system. Hypothetically, nothing stops them from just making any result they want at any moment, and saying "the community has voted".

    Why would they do that..?

They are trying to make something that people actually want. If they wanted to do whatever they want, they can just do what they've done before.

  • Same. It made me reflect more about the internet as a whole than just the dbd community though. I'm pleased to find that there are like minded people on here.

    image.png

I main Sable so you can imagine that many of the other communities i was in, were echoing sentiments that i found harmful in relation to this topic, so i decided to leave them. Just remember that there are tons of pockets in the dbd community and they won't all feel bad. I choose not to engage in areas that i don't feel safe.

I find it unfortunate that this discourse is likely going to influence the votes though rather than just being based on people's first instinct though. I chose to vote the older lady, i like the pretty one but i prefer sable. But to be honest i've been tempted to vote the prettier one in protest but i'm not going to.

Take care and be kind and true to yourself

  • Overall these are pretty minor buffs and i don't think that they can remove the ability to seal portals because of the killer instinct detection ability.

That's the problem that i think people have with this killer is he is or was believed to be a balanced and fun killer when in reality he's designed for a playstyle nobody really wants to do, and thats putting portals on gens and teleporting to them when you detect survivors are on it. Then shred is your tool to pressure survivors into dropping pallets and creating dead zones.

Problems i have with demo are:
    - Placement of portals is practically illusion of (viable) choice. It's not really viable to put portals anywhere but directly on top of gens.

    - Weak add-ons

    - Camera lock on successful and missed shred hits feel awful.

    - He's overall a pretty limited killer, but many are, so maybe he's just not for me.

I don't really have any other problems with demo other than that. His stealth his very weak but i think thats just a balancing act because he has shred. When it comes to reasonable minor tweaks they could make, they've done all this overtime. His teleport is much faster, he opens portals faster, they reduced the teleport cooldown.

Ok thank you. So maybe the switch verson may get removed maybe

removed? no. They plan to continue supporting the switch, but updates are delayed compared to other platforms.

  • It is only the switch version and that's down to nintendo for making the certification process more difficult.

  • So i noticed i didnt have the badge either, but i went to the https://account.bhvr.com/twitch/dbd page and there was a small red banner at the top after completing all the steps (despite the connections already existing) that said i had 1 unclaimed drop, i clicked the claim reward button (on this bhvr page, i had already claimed them on twitch), and now i have the badge.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

The change came mainly because of their obsession with voicelines. They added voicelines to those characters, but since the original voice actors who did the screams and grunts of pain back in the day were not around anymore, new ones were used/hired. And this also resulted in new screams and grunts of pain.

This will happen more often in the future since they will probably also give the original Survivors voicelines at some point.

And well: "Nobody asked for this change"… Technically many people wanted voicelines. Obviously they would have wanted some of the original voice actors, but this did not happen.

We don't really know if this the case because they added voice lines to the old resident evil survivors when they did project w but didn't replace sounds.

edit : nevermind i didnt consider the possibility the brought back the same people

I believe in this case it was probably request of the licensors to do new voices

  • nice, i hope this is intended. Could never be bothered to practise how to do it before, which made me not want to play him.

You could always spice it up yourself if you didn‘t, you chose that yourself

Wrong, bringing map offerings means you can't bring a sac ward, so other people will bring one too, so the game is gonna choose between what would usually be 2 maps. So it's undeniable that they reduced map variety. Map variety is not the same as agency to pick a map, which is something that shouldn't be in the game because it doesn't fit the vision.

  • @Langweilig said:

You don‘t have to bring one if don’t you have a problem with them. It’s a decision you’ve made. I never used the sacrificial ward as killer nor as survivor, because I didn‘t care whether someone uses them. I was bringing midwich, lerry’s, games and Hawkins offerings on both sides, not because of their strenght. I just liked their aesthetics and that they are indoor maps. The normal map rotation is ######### in my opinion and map offerings allowed you to get diffrent maps to spice things up from time to time than getting the same 5 over and over again. It made the game way more interesting, but it got taken out because people cry over everything in this community and behavior classically listens to them.

It made the game repetitive because the majority were just bringing the same, unbalanced maps. So the issue you have with their removal… is an issue that it was causing anyway.

  • DS is currently the only thing that has risk to tunnelling since they trashed off the record. It's becoming a general perk as well so there's no issue with it being paywalled anymore.

  • @Langweilig said:

Map offerings were fine the way they were. If someone didn‘t like them they could always just use a sacrificial ward and remove them.

They would have to use them all the time. Thats the problem

  • I don't like it. A huge face just makes it hard to take serious

  • Yeah i honestly wish it would stay kill switched. I have not missed it at all

  • @HaliAndEx said:

No, I find the complete opposite to be true. Original killers are more exciting for me. A lot of licenses DBD pulls from are popular, which isn't a problem, but popular = mainstream and that typically comes with types of horror that we've already seen before. Original chapters break that as a lot of the non-licensed killers in the game do have an archetype written around them but is twisted to feel organic and unique to the game.

Licensed chapters I feel as if have more of an opportunity to let players down or just be underwhelming. Springtrap is a prime example of this. Everyone was expecting a full chapter with a killer, survivor, and map, but we practically got a sidegraded huntress and a map that was decent but could have been expanded on much more. Not only that but we've been getting WAY too much licensed chapters recently, the devs are losing popular IP's to pull from.

So you are one of those people who only played Krasue because she was busted. Because she was unenjoyable before, she was just super strong and therefore common. Now that she is not super strong anymore (but she is still a very good Killer), people dont play her, because she is boring.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4048487#Comment_4048487

100% this. Springtrap in particular is a good example - because FNAF is such a huge license, the Devs did not need to make him really strong or unique. People would buy him anyway. Springtrap is ok as Killer, but I dont think anyone would put him into their Top 10 Killer List. Ghoul on the other hand was made extremely strong and easy, because Anime was controversial in DBD and they needed a buying argument for people who would not buy him because of the license.

And you dont have stuff like that with original Chapters.

You guys make good points but what i am starting to think is that they make original killers appear novelty to attract sales but the consequences are that their gameplay is more complicated. But they dont have to do that with licensed killers.

Whilst this approach probably does attract attention and sales short term but when they aren't as simple to play long term as licenses they will just become niche.

I find that quite unfortunate but it makes sense.

  • I voted for the older lady but i strongly dislike that people will shame others for voting for the other lady. It makes no sense to me why we should shame for liking conventionally attractive females… Just let people enjoy things…

  • It's fair to feel frustrated. They should have done better.

  • @THE_Crazy_Hyena said:

I voted for the old woman. DBD really needs a "super-granny" type of character, in a similar fashion to Ana from Overwatch.

ana from overwatch! i was trying to remember who that portrait reminded me of yesterday and it's her. I do think it would be a really great addition, that's what i voted.

  • I don't really agree because survivors reaching a new hook stage passively is one of the most frustrating things that can happen. It often causes solo queue teams to give up. I don't think it's something that killers should be able to force or have much influence over

  • It's mainly to stay in the loop of how the game is developing and how other players are reacting. To see what the hot topics are and speculate on how that might affect the developers decisions.

I sometimes share my feedback when i feel strongly about something but it's not often. I often feel misunderstood by other users here when i do frustratingly but i at least hope that the developers might read it.

  • I completely agree. Its very frustrating to deal with and not at all satisfying to apply as a killer. Because you never really know what kind of effect it's having unless you are taking it to the extremes. Needs a rework and they really shouldn't keep putting it on new killer add-ons/perks until then

which goes back to what someone else stated where it feels like to win you have to pray the killer misses or isnt good, which honestly yeah, I think is kinda unfair…

he has a lot more ways to get pressure than any other killers, he can teleport across the map and see a lot of the map in bat mode, has a counter to pretty much every survivor defence(pallets/vaults/exhaustion perks), hes the tallest killer in the game and can see over everything most other killers cant, ya know, I definitely do feel he is over powered in a bunch of ways. hence why I find him so frustrating to verse, and my feedback being based on chaos shuffle making me verse him multiple times in a row for some reason… just makes certain things stand out when you play against him multiple times in a row I think

I don't think that is really true. You can delay opportunities for dracula to hit you which is what the goal is against this killer. Don't vault or pre-drop if he has hellfire out, pre-drop if he is about to pounce in wolf form. Stay at a vault if he's in bat form. He will eventually get you but thats how he is balanced, and it's how he is different from many other killers.

  • To add on to what was said by Shanoa. If the dracula isn't on point he can lose his grasp on the game really quickly. He has no real way to get pressure other than getting downs and getting hooks. He can't really hit and run because healthy survivors are almost undetectable in bat form.

He is strong but i don't think he is overpowered. I think his most recent tweaks put him in a pretty great spot.

  • I feel like maps are better now with the pallet update, i don't feel like i'm ever running into dead zones anymore. Or i mean at least places where a pallet did not spawn there to begin with.

I think fog vials have been handled very poorly. They have yet to fix the bug that affects it's consistency across maps despite it being acknowledged when they were released. Very bad item for the game overall.

I think syringes and styptic did need changes but i do not like the reworks. Styptic is just straight up useless. Syringes encourage using exhaustion perks even more which is not what has been wanted at all. I don't think they should have gone through with the reworks when they aren't any good, i think i would have preferred they kept them unchanged until they can come up with better designs.

I think keys are mostly okay although i think blood amber could do with a slight buff. Maps are pretty bad and really impractical. I only like them for totem revealing, however if ESP comes through, i won't need to be using a map again. A WOO effect that you have to charge the item for is just really annoying. They are terrible at finding gens.

In terms of overpowered killers. Nurse definitely is still really boring. However it depends on how small the map is. I also still really hate Blight, it just doesn't feel like he has a turn limit when i play against him. I also just dont like him as a character and how many people him. Other than that i don't really feel like any other killer is particularly OP.

  • I feel like this must be a left over from the cancelled chaos shuffle anti-slug test that was planned

  • I think survivors can pick items because killers can choose the killer. And i really don't want random killers.

  • I'm sad to see Haddonfield go, after the recent pallet update it started to feel more balanced than it's ever been. It's also very nice looking. Pretty devastating loss of a map

  • Wraith probably has the most simple power, so least likely to break.

Rework myers also doesn't seem too buggy.

I also never really notice any issues when playing as Demogorgon.

Krasue and First were also in solid states in their PTBs which is possibly due to the fact both releases were delayed.

  • Jason, Terrifier, Slenderman.

  • Not all killers should have mobility, you should have to adapt to the fact that some killers don't. Because it doesn't support the main point of their power or it's a counterbalance. Just play the killers that have mobility if you want that.

  • Whilst i don't disagree with any of your bullet points, i wouldn't say she is extremely weak despite all these things. However she is pretty boring and lacks depth and thats what i think they need to focus on.

Another thing i want to say is i think her mobility is actually pretty weak. 7m/s is relatively slow, but worst of all it's a resource that charges slowly. 40m TR means survivors will certainly have enough time to react which just solidifies the idea that you have to commit to one survivor.

  • I don't know what happened exactly but i am sad to see you go. You had constructive ideas and presented them in a professional way. I really appreciated your post that demonstrated the idea of adjusting Chucky's speed curve which ended up being the way they went.

I can't blame you for your disdain for the game. It's something i came to the realisation of aswell, they balance the game in a way that favours what the majority like. They just dont value all characters the same, it's quite sad.

I agree the forum escalation system is too unforgiving. I am also one more offence from being permanently banned too. My 2 infractions were years apart. I did ask about this and they told me if it's your last offence they will be more lenient before permanently banning you which isn't the most reassuring but it's something i guess.
