I mean, he does have three eyes. It must be super easy to blind him.
On a serious note, no idea. It seems pretty useless for both sides, since when are you ever gonna have a chance to blind Victor? What good would it do?
-
It's for consistency reasons. No killer perks affect Victor, it wouldn't be fair if Survivor perks affected him. If they made it so only Survivor perks affect him, it'd be a nerf to an already average killer. So they'd probably make it so killer perks now affected Victor too.
Do you really want a Victor that can instadown people? Or can work with PWYF and move faster than Sprint Burst?
-
Unfortunately so. I haven't bought a Rift since the first one (though I was real tempted to get that last one.) And I probably won't if they continue like this.
-
Ghostface is 100% in my top 3 killers, I adore him. I love his sneaky, slowly approaching from behind cover while I stalk you" playstyle. The killer that "clicked" for me is either Wraith (if the buffs are good I probably won't play any other killer) or Oni. Pyramid Head is up there, but not nearly like the others are.
-
Look, I get it, going against BS is unfun, but the DC penalty is a necessary evil. Most multiplayer games I can name have a Disconnection penalty, because it's a incredibly selfish thing to do.
I'll put it into terms of something like Overwatch. A very different game, yes, but with Overwatch people can join if another player quits, and the player that quits still gets a penalty.
You can't join a progressing game in DbD. There is nobody to take your place, and rightly so. Once you are gone, you are gone, leaving your team a 3v1. Yes, people get frustrated, but because you get irritated at a videogame doesn't mean we should disable something that is healthy for the game.
If penalties were disabled, people would DC because: They don't like a specific killer, they got hit earlier than they would've liked, maybe they don't like the map, they're trying to de-pip, they just wanna be #########.
They are necessary.
-
Depends on what you want. Oni and Pyramid Head don't have great perks.
Clown has Pop, and Bamboozle. Oni and Pyramid Head are far better killers then Clown though.
Oni has a weak start, but has one of the strongest powers in the game, just a stronger version of Hillbilly's chainsaw.
Pyramid Head has a decent ranged attack, and a way to avoid a pretty huge margin of Survivor meta perks.
Clown has good anti-loop, and that's it. But he's also getting reworked soon, so keep that in mind.

Can we also issue a glock to every survivor?
And with those glocks, take out the killer's knees.
Can't have them moving too fast now.

They answered this in their most recent dev QnA stream. It's apparently "harder than you would think." I'm not sure how though.
It's not on their priority list, which sucks.
-
That's not a boulder!
It's a rock! Those things are great for delivery.

Last Year and Hide or Die have actually complete different core gameplay than DbD. They share setting and the assymetrical approach, but it didn't have a gameplay loop that worked well enought compared to DbD. The actual direct competitors were Identity V and Souls at Stake technically. The first one started too much as a blant copy and was too mobile focused. The second had worse Graphics and was called chinese Copy way too quick, even though they did their own spin of DbDs core gameplay.
Also Souls at Stake and Last Year weren't handled much worse than DbD.
I can remember, that it was back in 2018 I believe, that DbD was called one of the most interesting games by Japanese devs, I think. Or something like that. That gave me hope that we might see an interesting competitor in the future. I still hope somebody takes inspiration and closer look to the game, because DbD kinda found a formula for asymmetrical gameplay that works. Would be a shame, if it would be the only one.
While they weren't exactly the same (if they shared to many gameplay traits, it'd probably be called a DbD rip-off) they were still asymmetrical, horror themed, multiplayer games.
I remember when the trailer for Last Year was first shown, it was called the DbD killer by someone in the comments. Clearly, it didn't work out that way.
I fully believe DbD could use some healthy competition, but it's the giant in the genre right now. It probably won't get any, unless the game is very interesting.
-
There has been competition before. Last Year, Hide or Die. They failed. Things would more or less stay the same unless the game was very, very good. DbD already has a fan base, licenses.
There's more to why DbD has persisted when games like it have not. It's known, people are comfortable with it. That won't change unless BHVR really messes up.
-
In there most recent QnA, the devs said they were going to try and apply the same equation that's in Badham to the rest of the maps. That should solve the issues of Deadzones, or at least I hope.

Def might wanna report that to the support team because that's dangerous for it to be free when its a licensed killer.
The free Auric Cell bug was solved long ago, (or at least it should've been.) I don't know all the details, but this is probably a new bug.
@notanoedgamer said:
will the characters get refunded automatically?
Maybe. I don't know, I've never heard of this bug. If he truly did get them for free, he needs to report it.
-
It was a while ago, and I think it was a PC only thing. Probably a bug with the PTB.
-
If he got them for free, it's 100% a bug. Due to the fact that they're licensed, they will always probably cost money, or with Auric Cells, which still cost money. (Unless he was one of the people that got that bug that gave 1000 for free or something like that.)
-
No. If it's in the game, you can use it without getting banned.
-
Pop is a great perk, kinda. It's much more consistent than say, Ruin, because it can't be taken away from you, but it requires you to give up chases to pop a gen, and there's always the chance that Survivors will do a generator in your face as your walking to it. But still, a fantastic perk.
-
It would be very cool, and I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate the sentiment.
But I seriously doubt the Developers have the authority to do that. Whoever handles the financial decisions was probably the same person who decided the chapter to be pushed out, and I doubt they would let the chapter go for free.
Edit: Also, you can technically get the DLC for free. It just takes time.

bUt KeYs!!11!1!!1!
I 100% agree. The Mori changes were needed, and while the change could've been more creative/better, this is a step in the right direction. I say this as someone who plays about 85% killer as well - they were bull. Kills with them didn't feel earned, they felt cheap. If you depended on Mori's so harshly to win, you probably weren't that good of a killer anyways.
I do wish they introduced key changes at the same time, but I understand why they didn't. (Though I have a feeling we're gonna be seeing a lot more keys know that people know they're being changes "soonTM"...)

Definitely agree with you there. Didn't think I'd be seeing Silent Hill for a while after the reboot got canceled which is a shame. I just don't get why they'd be so picky about what clothes she wears if its all her anyway. Seems a bit excessive to me.
Well, apparently a new game is in the works. From the leaks I've seen, a PS5 remake/reboot of the original game. No PT (Or Silent Hills) though, which is a shame.
As to why, well, Konami is very, very protective of their IP's. The only company that might take it further is either Nintendo or Sony. I wouldn't be surprised if Pyramid Head and Cheryl's cosmetics were completely decided on Konami's part, as a stipulation of even getting them in the game
-
I can guarantee it's probably Konami's issue/decision.
They aren't known for being the most lovely of companies, after all. I can't imagine how difficult it was for them to get a Silent Hill license in the first place. If it was difficult for Nintendo, you bet it'd be difficult for BHVR.
-
No :)
-BHVR, probably.
-
Freddy's lunge is the same length and speed as all the killers. It just looks wacky because of how short he is, and how small his weapon is. He needs to travel the same distance as, say, Doctor - who is tall and has a big weapon.
-
The Writers for the game probably aren't also on the Dev team. Bugs and lore have nothing to do with eachother.
I think the difference between this game and OW is that OW, at least in my opinion, didn't have great writing from the start. The game is "Incredibles, but a little different", and most of the characters were just Cliché's. Outlaw Cowboy #1700, Japanese Warrior obsessed with honor #679 and #680 . When they introduced LGBT characters, at least to me, it came across as them trying to cover up controversy from the game. Not a place of genuine want.
BHVR seems like they want to add them in, for good reasons, and the writing is far better. Again, that's just my opinion - the main point of this reply is that the actual game and the writing within the game have very little do with eachother.
-
I think there might be more planned for them, I don't see why this couldn't have been added in ages ago if that's not the case. This is just a band-aid fix until then. Shame we didn't get one for keys at the same time.
Edit: Welp, looks like @Sonzaishinai already said this.

"It would be pandering" is not a valid excuse when the game is built on the back of pandering.
I'd go one step further and say that every product ever made is built on the back of pandering. That's literally why things are made, because people want to buy them. It's the basis of capitalism - you pander to a specific group of people with your product.
Exactly this. If it was made to make money, it is probably pandering in some way, especially in capitalist economy. I never saw people complaining about Silent Hill pandering, or SAW pandering. It's only pandering, apparently, if it's towards LGBTQ+ people.
-
I say this as a straight dude. Why can't we let LGBTQ+ people have their representation? I can name right now if you asked me the characters in this game that reflect one or more things about me. A lot of LGBT people don't have that, at least not to the degree they would like.
What's the problem with being more inclusive? If the character is well written, adda something to the lore and just happens to also be LGBT, that's a good thing. It means more people are happy, and isn't that a good thing?
It doesn't affect me in the slightest, and if it makes people happy, I see no harm in it. I personally couldn't care about representation, but it is very important to some people.
On the note of pandering - this entire game is pandering. It panders to classic horror fans, it panders Silent Hill fans, it panders to Halloween fans, and so on. Most media is pandering in some way. Hell, considering the Entity is an eldritch, inter-dimensional monster with no form and a buncha tentacles, you could say it's pandering to Lovecraftian, cosmic horror.
"It would be pandering" is not a valid excuse when the game is built on the back of pandering.

The Twins unfortunately won't be fully fixed until the next mid-chapter update
Source?
I think they're talking about changes, I'm pretty sure the fixes are coming soon. In the QnA someone asked if there were any more changes to The Twins planned, after the locker thing and bugfixes, and they said they were gonna wait until the next Mid-Chapter, for the reviews they're starting to do.
Like they did with the Silent Hill chapter, and probably with Descend Beyond in the coming up mid-chapter. I'm pretty sure we're still getting the previously mentioned fixes, just not new ones until the next, next mid-chapter
-
Maybe once they eventually rework Keys and Mori's they'll change the add-ons? It does seem a little weird they're focusing on making Killer add-ons consistent and not doing the same for Survs.
-
Yeah, this is... Really disappointing. I was expecting a jump up to 50k at least but 10k still is just... Pathetic. And, oh neat, a sweater for a Survivor I don't own.
The only thing slightly worth it is the Iri shards. And that's still just barely.

the best way to deal with LOS blockers as nurse is to blink to where you will have los on them and use the 2nd one to adjust unless you can predict survivor gameplay, if you can thats one of the steps on the road to becoming a good nurse, and yes nurses road has steps thats why she is considered hard
There were multiple times where I hit a survivor and they just disappeared, and I didn't wanna stick around and look due to her slooow movement speed. When people were out in the open, it was 100% easier to at least get to them. I'm still enjoying her challenge though.

@ALostPuppy said:
Are you on some kind of alt account? You're only level 21 and you said you've been playing for 2 years...
But anyway, low rank players (not new players) can sometimes be even harder to play against than high ranks because their movements are completely unpredictable. You think they have an understanding of the game and will try to do something smart but NOPE they just hold forward like there's no tomorrow and don't give a single #########. And they also really like to crouch around, which is the biggest and only counter to Nurse. High rank players are much more predictable and don't like stealth, so generally it's a lot easier. If you've played a lot of survivor and are in purple and red ranks you'll find Nurse really easy once you get to those ranks because survivors make their movement so incredibly obvious.
I used to play on PS4, but my console has broken. The game was on sale on Steam, so a friend of mine bought it as an early Christmas present. I bought the game the day before the new chapter came out, so the experience has been interesting.

Congrats dude! The nurse is a killer I have never dared even attempt to try and get good at.
The first game I tried, which was at like rank 15, I got my ass thoroughly handed to me. She's difficult, but it feels really good when you just nail a blink.

I agree Myers is weaker than both Ghostface and Oni. BUT Myers is the only killer who can do the cool stuff he does with his add-ons. His basekit isn't as good but if you made it stronger he would be utterly broken with his add-ons.
In this hypothetical base-kit pipe dream I have, his add-ons would be changed in response to the buffs - at least slightly.

Pffft, you think Cyberpunk is actually getting released? They're fooling you! Just like Elden Ring, Cyperpunk doesn't exist.

I also never said to get over it, I simply was stating that if OP was truly going to quit a game because he doesn’t like words that a player said and the devs didn’t do anything about it then maybe he should stick to offline single player games. Where he doesn’t have to deal with other people saying things he doesn’t like. If he’s overreacting that much about it then maybe he shouldn’t be in a place that’s prone to have it. Online gaming.
so then I’m I supposed to accept the fact that you called me “ignorant” or am I supposed to get you banned from this forum?
Kid if you’re going to whine and “not play” an online game because of that then maybe you shouldn’t be playing online games in general.
That seems like you saying "get over it" but if I misconstrued, that's on me. That doesn't change the fact that you added nothing other then saying "If you don't like it, don't play". It's just my personal belief that we shouldn't try to gloss over people acting like this because it's over an online game.
And if you want to, go ahead. I've never been banned or jailed before, so the most it will do is just jail me.
-
Gameplay wise, the Totem time is for balance. Lore wise, it would make sense to kick the dull totems. Maybe they still have dormant power held within, and the only way to solve it is to grunt at those bones.
Or maybe the Entity put stupid juice in the Survivor's hot cocoa.

Okay, so just look at Oni, Deathslinger, Pyramid Head, Pig, Ghostface and Demogorgon.
Ghostface Caught on Camera is an amazing Iri, what are you talking about? If you stalk while leaning, they're stalked within a second. You should never stalk out in the open as Ghostface anyways, it's a terrible idea for him. Pretty much everyone else I can agree with, yeah.
I still firmly believe Iridescent Family Crest is the worst Iri addon in the game.
-
While the people that just slug and watch people bleed out for shits n giggles suck, I have lost plenty of people simply due to them crawling away while I was pressuring another survivor, then I can't find them because sounds are broken and they bleed out.
-
It's a neat idea, but I think Obsession perks do too much at the moment. Some, you wanna stay away from the Obsession, with some you wanna go after them...
-
Goes to boot up Dead By Daylight.
Clicks on the application.
"Why is there a 68GB patch?"
Jokes aside, I would not be surprised if the hotfix is bigger then the actual patch
-
It's a bug with them, and I think on a few other killers, but that may be wrong. It's 100% a bug with the Twins though. Let's just hope it get's fixed in the hotfix.
That hotfix is going to be gigantic (hopefully)

Fair enough, you didn't. But you still can't just say "That happens in every game, don't play if you don't like it." At best, it does nothing further the discussion and at worst it's excusing that type of behavior because "it's the internet". Yeah, the internet is a pretty ######### place sometimes - doesn't mean we should just accept it in every corner of the internet.

“I’m 460 hours into this game and I may just quit over this”
While that is an overreaction to quit, this kind of behavior is in every game, you can't just say "It's an online game, get over it lol". You are actively just saying that kind of behavior is okay because it's over the internet. People should get banned for that type of #########.

What an ignorant, piece of ######### world view you have. There's a difference between whining about a facecamper, and literal racism and homophobia over a video game.
-
I would love for more unique things for the killers, or just more customization options, because if I'm being honest, the charms kinda suck. I would 100% rather have them be Iri shards in the Rift then charms, but that's just my opinion.
I'm more partial to the idea of the Basements being unique based on killers. Imagine Ghostface's, it'd be filled with newpaper articles of his crimes. It'd be sick. Blight could have a whole bunch of alchemy and Pustula Serum all around. The Twin's could have whatever random garbage they had. It'd be awesome.
-
I mean, I've ran into pretty much the same amount of 'scummy' survivors as I have 'scummy' killers. Seems pretty even to me, a split of facecamping, hitting on hook killers and Survivors who teabag and clicky at every stun, then DC when they get downed (most of the time on the first down). I've had people that ran into me with an obvious "I've got DS haha", get downed (because they ran into me) then proceed to DC because I didn't pick them up.
Then I've also ran into people who Facecamp with a mori because they didn't down somebody in the first seven seconds of the game. It's just an online game thing, both sides can be full of #########-heads.
-
I'm partial to thinking Oni's base power is balanced.
-
Iron Maiden is a little busted, but I do like the idea of it holding Survivor's inside for a limited amount of time, but the rest of the ideas are pretty good
I particularly like Visionary. Idk why it doesn't do that already.
