You don't necessarily need a gen-defense perk to replace Ruin. You can also go for a perk that helps you in chases. Bamboozle is probably a good choice.
Or try a fun endgame perk like Bloodwarden.
-
He gets used as often as the other M1 killers like Trapper, Doc etc.

I used to play on a good tv but if you want to play killer in a serious way you need to buy a gaming monitor which supports 60 fps like this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07HS7B1DC/ref=ppxyodtbasintitleo01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 tried and tested on dbd, works like wonder
Did you post a ref link?
-
Sure, that would bring solos one step closer to SWF.
(In general: If solos are brought closer to SWF-level, don't forget that killers also need to receive buffs.)
-
@Entità Tastes are different. Some players may like it. But liking something for esthetic reasons and having a feeling of horror are different things.
-
@Entità Okay, thanks for clarifying. However, it doesn't change my opinion. When you've reached a certain level of playtime, the horror is gone. No matter the choice of music etc.
-
A forum is a collection of different opinions, of inexperienced players and veterans. Read the argumentations and form your own opinion.
-
If everybody would disable the chat or consequently report abusive messages so that these kind of people would get punished, then we wouldn't have such a problem with the chat/messages for a couple of years. So what is going wrong?
Also, a related issue: Assuming in-game voice chat would come to the game, how could threats be reported? I hope voice chat won't come to DbD. It would make toxicity so much worse.
-
I want "thank you" and "hello" and "be quiet" the most.
-
@Entità Again: It absolutely makes a difference whether you hear terror radius in the basement or not, especially when you are facing non-stealth killers. The solo player doesn't know whether the killer is near, the SWF player gets this information from his teammates. Also, there is no horror element for the SWF player because they know what's going on and it is not necessary to have a full 4-men-SWF for this scenario.
The horror aspect isn't relevant. There is no horror after playing this game for houndreds or even thousands of hours. A darker environment and no terror radius is not going to change that.
Btw: Did you want to make the maps darker only for survivors or for killers as well?
-
So there will be changes to Nurse's base kit. I'm worried that after the changes she won't be playable anymore without add-ons.
-
@Entità I don't think it's a good idea to introduce things to the game which would widen the gap between SWF and solos while the devs are trying to close this gap.
-
After you have played this game (or any game) for a while, the horror is gone. Bad lightning or music won't change that.
Concerning the basement idea: That wouldn't affect SWF. The survivors would just tell each other what the killer is doing.

What bugs? It's just generator and hook cosmetics.
In theory, yes. But practice is something different.

You guys could just simply recycle the old bbq event. Give us the cool hooks and gens + double bp. Easy and not much work
I'm afraid that would bring old bugs from last year's BBQ back to the game.
-
Sadly the blocks' effects are not going to change soon. :(
-
Besides all the already existing counters to BBQ:
BBQ is an incentive for the killer to go away from the hook and not camp. That is what we want. If the killer doesn't see any auras, he/she can assume that the other survivors are already close to the hook so there wouldn't be a reason to leave.
-
I really hope the devs are only going to adjust her add-ons. If her power would get a real cooldown, then she would have to get 110%/115% speed. Also there wouldn't be a killer anymore who would be viable against good groups with strong equipment.
-
That would lead to less survivor variety in lobbies. And it would make balancing unnecessarily harder.
-

Chases where you are given the opportunity to outsmart your opponent and must utilize your movement and wits to win are fun.
Chases where all both parties do is hold W in a straight line because they're running around a pallet or window that literally cannot be circumnavigated and won't let you try to outplay them is not.
True. But I wouldn't even be bothered that much by these bad loops as a killer if I just had enough time for chases.
-
@George_Soros I'm not going to argue about whether the same term should be used for a military "strategy" that is widely known for being used by a racist regime and burdening the relationship between neighbouring European states until today and for doing an objective in a video game.
The answer is clear.
-
I agree that chases are the fun part in DbD. They are the magic ingredient that make DbD so successful compared to the other games in this genre.
-
Please don't use the term "Blitzkrieg". This is really offensive, at least from an European point of view.
-
BBQ is balanced. It has a nice effect, but this effect has several counters. If it weren't for the bonus bloodpoints, I would use another tracking perk.
-
Sure that's okay. For example, I don't see why you should play with a random teammate who you know is going to dc if they get downed early in the game.
As long as you don't dodge players simply because you know they are good players, I don't think it's morally wrong.
-
Yes, I think #1 with locations instead of auras and #2 with 15% would be fine.
And I could live with a warning for the exposed status. :)
-
@PolarBear Aura reading is much more precise than locations and therefore more powerful in the majority of cases. Have you seen Nurses with I'm All Ears, for example?
-
@NMCKE Restrictions: I overread that part with the reduced speed. However, it wouldn't change the basic problem. In this case, the killer returns to the hook for camping after 45 instead of 30 seconds. Might be even better for the killer. You are more likely to find and down a survivor in 45 seconds than in 30.
Devil's Deal: So the unhooker is supposed to just hide for a minute in case the unhooked person gets hit? Also, Devil's Deal could be combined with Deerstalker. And the main problem remains: Why should a survivor get downed/punished for something he/she can't influence? That is unfair and frustrating.
Hex:Rush Hour. You will not always find all the totems or have time to do so, especially if you play solo. You can't compare it to NOED, since with NOED you always have the option to hide from/loop the killer and not go down, even when NOED is activated.
Last Stand: There shouldn't be an additional hook state. It's not about how difficult something is to code/program/implement. It's about that you don't change fundamental core mechanics with perks.
Perseverance: You just assume that the survivor runs it. Like survivors do with BBQ. Or like killers did with old MoM and brought moris. Why take a risk, when tunneling would eliminate the risk? It would encourage unwanted playstyles.
Survivalist: Not sure yet, would have to think about it some more.
-
Survivalist: The basic idea can work. The numbers would probably need some tweaking.
-
Perseverance would encourage camping, tunneling and slugging. Perks should do the opposite.
-
Hex:Rush Hour and Last Stand change the core mechanics of the game. Perks shouldn't do that.
Also both perks feel extremely unfair to survivors/the killer.
-
Devil's Deal:
One survivor gets unhooked. This person is a bad player, isn't stealthy and can't loop. Or even wants to troll. The killer can easily attack the unhooked person.
On the other side: The person who did the save. A skilled player who just wants to play a normal game. He/she is getting downed because the person who got unhooked didn't play well. It isn't something the unhooker could have influenced. The unhooker gets punished for the unhooked person's bad play. The unhooked person doesn't suffer any consequences for playing bad.
This perk would be super frustrating, especially for solo players. Unfair and unfun.
-
@NMCKE Thank you for the praise, don't make me blush! :) I'll write my thoughts step by step. Let's start with Restrictions:
That's basically 100% camping for half the price. The killer can look for survivors the first 30 seconds and then come back to the hook to camp. It would make camping efficient and meta. We don't want that.
-
@NMCKE #1 isn't balanced. There is a reason why Infectious Fright shows locations instead of auras.
I kind of agree with #2. Increase it to 20%. 10% is not enough of a bonus speed.
Last, #3 isn't balanced, either. I explained above why that is.
-
@NMCKE You think #1 is balanced? Tuning down #2 is indeed easy to be done by just lowering the percentage. What about #3?
-
You can be stealthy while wearing bright clothes. Just don't be in the killer's LOS.
-
I don't see a lot of people complaining. I feel the majority believes it's a good rework.
-
The devs stated that they plan to release a reworked ranking system at the beginning of 2020.
-
@NMCKE Oh, I didn't mean that you should put it into perk format. I think it was understandable from the original post. :)
I wanted to ask whether you would like to talk about the perk's effects. :)
-
Wiggling off the killer's shoulder and hook sabo rescues are not supposed to be the rule. It's not a problem.
-
It's only been a couple of hours since the devs stated last that there's no ETA yet. What exactly do you think they should do more than that?
Edit: You wrote yourself that they posted a tweet earlier today. How often do you want to get "no ETA yet"-tweets?
-
@Bravo0413 Blocking gens like Thrilling Tremors? I'm not a fan, that perk isn't good for most killers.
The basic concept of getting different effects for tokens is fine. Do you have another idea for effect #3?
Effects #1 and #2 would need some tweaking (it's currently unbalanced without aura reading range and the percentage number is too high).
@NMCKE Do you want to get back into the discussion? You only wrote that it would be a great perk on all killers.
-
Haddonfield is the map most in need of an update.
-
What would be their power? I don't know the films.
-
This forum is useful when it comes to bug reports and minor changes to the game. When it comes to big changes, time will tell.
That bugs often aren't fixed fast is probably caused by the high workload of the developers.
-
@NMCKE Come on, be serious. The matchmaking has a lot of problems. If we pretend everything is working as intended and don't talk about problems, nothing will improve.
-

Only 4 man SWF. I duo with a friend frequently and we never know how many totems are killed beyond us.
@Eninya If I play with one or two guys and we cleanse all the totems between us, we know that we have cleansed everything. It doesn't need a 4-men-SWF at all.
-
@xCarrie Exactly this would happen. This would hurt the game badly, not a good idea.
-
Some people don't care about BBQ.
Also, BBQ is intented as an incentive for the killer not to camp. If you don't hide your aura, you motivate the killer to leave the hook, which is a good thing in the majority of cases.
-
@NMCKE How do you explain that after rank reset (when nearly everybody was at green and yellow ranks) I had to wait quite some time both as survivor and as killer?
There surely still are a lot of problems with the matchmaking.
