Can't see them doing this. Streaming is good advertising for the game, and if there was an option to opt out then I suspect alot of people would select it and streaming queue times would increase. Which wouldn't be a good look. I see alot of streamers when I play at night, so I generally go into anonymous mode at night for that reason.

Is anti camp thing even going live ? last time they scrapped anti slug PTB
The Finisher Mori PTB was never intended to go live immediately after its PTB. They said it was a test feature for a *potential* update that they wanted feedback on.

The same could be said about lots of perks. Like if I wasn't running Overcome or Lithe or BL then I may not have made it safely to the next pallet. If i wasn't running Distortion then I may not have lasted so long unfound. If I wasn't running Saboteur then we might have been down an extra person that we needed. If I wasn't running Deja Vu we wouldn't have gotten that last gen done in the nick of time. If I wasn't running Lethal Pursuer or Corrupt Intervention then it might have taken me too long to find that first survivor and I could have lost more gens faster. If I wasn't running Lightborn then that flashlight save would have cost me. If I didn't have NOED I'd have ended up with a 0k.
I feel like the point of perks is to help with perceived areas of weaknesses. I watch a streamer who hasn't used a single perk for 3 years and they do amazingly well. I hope to achieve that one day. I've actually been thinking to only start using 3 perks and slowly work my way down.
-
Oh that's gorgeous... I'd play Ada alot more if she got that cosmetic
-
Yup, looks like a typical solo queue game 😅

Em... I know? And technically, it's a "draw".
You mentioned it in the context of "for your MMR rating," hence why I clarified.
-
I don't think it's OP, but I'm so confused as to who at BHVR saw the most annoying aspect of this game (the screaming - especially since most people play with headphones) and was like 'oh hey, we should have MORE of this'.

That is only true when you are in a SWF squad. If you are SoloQ, it would only count your escape, hatch, or death for your MMR rating.
https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Skill-Based_Matchmaking_Rating#Team-based_MMR
So, if you can't build MMR while SoloQueuing, it's on you.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3548220#Comment_3548220
Wish granted. Just try to not let any potatoes in your squad when you are in SWF and you are good.
Hatch is null, just FYI. Doesn't affect MMR at all.

Welcome! When I started I levelled up Feng first because of Technician - great beginner perk until you get used to skill checks. Windows of Opportunity (Kate perk) is also great for learning maps/tiles. Get in the habit of looking behind you when in chase, and I'd also advise familiarising yourself with killer powers and perks, particularly the popular meta ones. There's a site called Nightlight, which isn't 100% accurate (small sample sizing, unlikely to be used by non-english speakers, etc) but it's accurate enough when it comes to most used perks. So you can get a general idea of what perks you're more likely to see in your games and among certain killers.
@GeneralV also makes a very very good point - don't get used to any one perk in particular. I like to switch up my builds, though I do have my favourites of course (my favourite exhaustion perk is Overcome, but it's easy enough to play without it). Perk changes have become common place recently, so that's one reason, but you also develop better natural game sense when you don't get used to relying on certain perks.
-
It's always a staple perk for me when I play killer. I know, I know, you can take action to avoid the Blinds, but the blinding effect is one of those things I find annoying (along with screaming and the Clown's bottle effect) so it's nice being able to chuck on a perk and something not be an issue anymore.
-
I'll always try take a protection hit. I don't care if the killer comes for me afterwards. I need the chase practice. So I think it's fine the way it is.
-
There were sales last year for the Halloween event, so there's definitely a good chance

I'd agree if this was a middle fork as can be seen in the top left between the 2 Survivor Glyph challenges, or right near the end, but this is one of the starting paths. Can you go around? Sure. Should one of the starting tomes be among the hardest ones in the lot? Most certainly not.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/ZHGTNOTEDI5L/16dash4.png
Edit: I already addressed how obtuse it would be to go around for a starter tome, I guess you didn't read my first post.
I'm doing the challenge last (currently on 2/3), but yeah, one of the starting challenges probably shouldn't be one of the hardest. I went clockwise through the tome.

Can you build high MMR through playing solo queue, or do you need a SWF for that?
I've always wondered if solo queue survivors get judged as harshly as survivors in SWF. The escape rate for solo queue must be pretty rough.
I'd say it's possible but would just take longer to build playing solo than it would playing swf.
-
The best is when I'm on hook and the killer is chasing another survivor on the opposite side of the map, and the other two are crouched near me but too scared to move so I go to second stage.
-
Dunno. I've always assumed campers don't have much confidence in their chase skills, hence why they immediately try to secure the first down they get. Successful sluggers are generally good in chase, or at least have some degree of confidence in their ability to track and find survivors.

Yeah okay mate 👍

Flashlights are no longer killswitched
-
Not just you. I couldnt play a couple days ago due to this error, and while I was able to play yesterday I did get kicked from one lobby with this error again. The rest of my games were okay. There is a post about it anyway in the bug section and it's under review.
-
I changed platforms fully at the start of the year so had alot to get again. I put my bloodpoints into P1ing survivors, starting with my favourite perks, and I used my iri shards to get killer perks from the Shrine of Secrets. This made the most sense to me as I only play a few killers, and not often at that, so I'd prefer to not have to put bloodpoints into the ones I don't use. I still have some perks to go but I have my favourites plus more so it worked out well.
-
So last night, I'm being chased by a Huntress. She's a fair distance away and I'm dodging hatchets, turn around in time to see bot Leon running across my path. A second later I'm blinded... he dropped a flashbang on me. Got hit moments later. Wth lol
-
Why though? Just do that challenge last. That's what I'm doing. That way there's no hurry to finish it, you can just get it done naturally. I agree though that it's a difficult challenge and I'm noticing alot of team mates are throwing.

I mean David's popularity can be changed.
Some people left him because he revealed as gay.
Some people left him for new male survivors: Vittorio, Renato and now Gabriel.
Maybe you are right and some people left him because he did not get costumes.
But whatever was reason, BHVR did not see value on him. I don't think BHVR ignored him because he is gay. BHVR is just doing what other companies are doing: Use resources on valueable characters.
They changed their politics on that tho, that's good sign. Now they are giving costumes to all survivors.
Dead Hard also used to be lauded as the best survivor perk. I've never used it but i remember how often new players were told to level up David for DH. After its nerfs I don't see it as often, which may also be why David's popularity dropped.

I mean, fair but I mostly don't even look at my lobbies. There are better things to do than looking at each character. And honestly I thought this was pretty common at least for pc players.
Also, wouldn't they notice that P20s and higher aren't really that different from everyone else and grow more confident playing with and against high prestige players? I kind of doubt that even new players would dodge everyone who has a slightly higher prestige level than them. I'd barely find a game as killer, if I did that. Even as a survivor I still get my fair share of P100s. And I'm really not a great survivor.
Yeah I see a P100 at least every third game so no point in dodging (or at least a P80+). I've played 3 survivor games today and seen two, and one was hiding/throwing with a key. Against a Wraith no less. I suppose some killers see them differently to other high prestiges because 100 is the max amount, so anyone on less than that is perceived to still have room to grow? I dunno.
-
Agree. Not because of me (I'm doing this challenge last so I can just get it naturally without hurry) but team mates are hiding and throwing the game so hard clearly to get this challenge done. It's a bit ridiculous at this point.
-
@Xernoton said:
Gotta be new players, right? Everyone else should know by now that prestige does not equal skill.
I would understand maybe dodging a full P100 squad because not every killer is in the mood dealing with a SWF but then again, if I can beat them with pallet Freddy and a meme build, then even that is no indicator of how difficult the match will be.
I'm not opposed to the idea of hiding prestige though. But if we're gonna go that route, then they should also allow players to keep their prestige hidden after the game.
Those of us who play with or against P100s know that prestige doesn't equal skill. The people who dodge them don't know that because they avoid playing with them.
-
I hope so. Lobby dodging will never be fully eliminated but anything that helps decrease instances is welcome imo

People who think it’s fine to lose 1 or even 2 gens quickly often turn out to be the same people who can’t understand why killers end up tunnelling and camping.
The pace of the game should be slower and in turn camping and tunnelling should be very sub optimal strategies or even outright removed as options. Then the game could be in a much healthier state.
We had a gen kick meta for several months, where in some games gens weren't getting any progress, and camping and tunnelling were still prominent complaints. Not sure how they could feasibly be removed.

Just throwing my name in the ring too, can't play survivor (can play killer though)

I've had a bot open the exit gate on its own and run out, leaving me to rescue the person on the hook without any help.
I've had bots crouch around the edges of the map doing nothing. I've had bots who refused to heal me. I've had bots stand around and do nothing, getting birds.
Today, during the EGC, I had a bot that kept crouching around a little ways from a teammate on the hook. I went and made the save, got downed for it, and got to watch the bot continue to crouch a little ways off while I was on the hook. The person I unhooked came back, got downed before getting to me, and when the killer picked them up and took them to a hook, the bot continued to crouch around and do nothing. Finally, after we died, the bot went out through the open exit gate.
I hate the bots. I want to know what they need that precious BP for that has them prioritize escaping over their teammates. Is there some Bloodpoint charity those points go into?
My favourite was when I needed one more unhook for a challenge so I left the exit gate to go on a kamikaze bot rescue. For some reason one of the other survivors decided to join me. We got the bot unhooked and I went down, then the killer took off after the other survivor and the bot made a beeline for the exit gate and left 🤣

I went on killer, then went to survivor and spammed the survivor tab. I am now playing survivor. I'm also on PS5.
Yeah I tried that, went killer then tried survivor. Kept spamming but no go. Playing Tears of the Kingdom now lol will wait till it's sorted
-
Yeah, I can't play. On PS5
-
I doubt it. Tunnelling is different to facecamping in that everyone still gets to participate in gameplay, even if it's just chase. Plus tunnelling doesn't always pay off for the killer, especially when their MMR increases and they start getting matched with survivors more experienced at running tiles. So it can come with risks.
The only thing they need to do is address depipping. If you're first found and tunnelled out, a depip can suck because your ability to engage in other objectives is out of your hands.
-
You didn't do anything wrong, they did. They massively overreacted. I personally don't use shack pallet early game, even if it means I'm gonna take a hit, but if others do then oh well. It's just a game.
-
I agree re vaulting. I've been dropping my controller in frustration alot lately. Once upon a time you'd hit the ground and the killer would hit the window, not you. That never happens anymore. They could be ages away and I'll still get hit after clearing the window

Killers shouldn't be able to make comebacks with such a skilless and unfun strategy. That's just not good game design.
If killers end up too weak because of changes like this, then they can be buffed in other, more healthy ways. But it's important that this game gains balance changes that improve the overall enjoyment of the game.
This is my stance too. If a mechanic like this affects kill rates then healthier buffs can take place, which is a positive for everyone. I don't anticipate much change in my games as I don't see much facecamping in my MMR bracket (I think it's mostly low MMR) and I certainly don't facecamp, but if a killer is lacking in some way then I'd rather they get individual buffs than having to feel like they need to fall back on facecamping.
-
Thank you for this. I was trying to wrap my head around it all. Sounds much better than a one hour stalemate, so looking forward to it.
-
They only have limited bandwidth or whatever in their updates. I'm glad they prioritised SM over Blight tbh.
-
Need? Probably not. But I welcome a bit of variety.
-
Missing a hit now has a consequence. I guess just don't miss.
-
It exists because some people have too much time on their hands
-
My last 10 games were Xeno, Spirit, Xeno, Myers, Onryo, Pinhead, Xeno, Wesker, Demo, Ghostface. Even with the Xenos I feel like I get good variety at my bracket.

I have had literal death threats. I've had people wish death on not only me, but my children..in detail, the way that they hope they will meet their demise as adults. I've had every single thing about me thoroughly insulted from my looks to my voice to my this to my that. I've been told my partner will leave me because dot dot dot...all people who have found me on some social media platform, because they were mad that they died in a match. I'm a bad killer. I'm a bad survivor etc..those ones I don't really care so much about..but the personal ones..especially people who went out of their way to find me on Instagram or Discord..those ones are more concerning. I stream, so I understand it takes minimal effort to shoot a message through on Twitch..but the rest......................................
You will never make me believe any community is more toxic than this one.
I can't even post here, without people scrolling by if they have nothing of depth to offer (whether it agrees or disagrees with my post).
Wow! Sorry you had to go through all that. My ingame username isn't Nazzzak for reasons like that. I have no link between my social media and in-game identity, because some people are so unhinged.
-
I'm still getting multiple Xenos a day. It's still very popular in my MMR bracket.
-
I got given Left For Dead by a killer (Singularity). He was very insistent that I do it. It made my day honestly.

You forget the mentality of some survivors if they see a way to abuse a mechanic to annoy the killer they absolutely will regardless if it's "easier to just unhook" or not
"points to last time they tried implementing an anti camping mechanic"
When was the last anti-camp mechanic? Original Reassurance? Because that was a group of friends (including the killer) testing the limits of the perk in PTB. It didn't even go live.
-
I've had it happen twice since Alien release, in survivor games. No penalty either time, which was nice, so evidently not my fault.
-
Well yes, lots of us have been saying this for awhile. Have no expectations and you'll have no disappointment. That goes for any game really. It's not a bad thing.
-
I don't dislike Pinhead, but I don't enjoy playing against him in solo queue as teamwork is important and solo queue is... solo queue. I played against him this morning and none of the other survivors, not a single one, would touch the box except me. Then they left me to die in endgame lol so he gets my vote
