  • I don't think they'll ever be able to balance it. Whatever perk changes they can do to help solo survivors will just help overpower swfs, which puts killers at a further disadvantage against them. I'm resigned to the current solo experience personally.

Best advice I've seen regarding playing solo is to try and not get caught first or last.

That's not to say I'm not keen on seeing the reworked perks, because I definitely am. But I just don't think there will be anything for me in there lol and the perks that I find do help me as a solo survivor could potentially no longer do so

  • Red Forest. Just based on the atmosphere, with the trees and rain. As long as I could live there alone though

  • Watched a stream where the streamer got tunnelled out first, and they decided to spectate. There was a Blendette hiding in a bush. You'd think it wouldn't make for good content but it was actually hilarious, especially when an idle crow would appear and we'd watch them panic run around trying to get rid of it. Sadly they got hatch, but even then they got low bp. You think, they did all that just for 10k bp?

  • No, I find Haddie's perks very underwhelming. And I'm not interested in playing as the Dredge, though I am looking forward to playing against him

  • Not sure, I don't keep track. I might buy a cosmetic once every couple of weeks if that?

  • Yeah I get this from time to time, as a solo player I'm used to it. It's honestly like 50/50 with swfs. They'll either band together to save you in the end or they'll leave. I remember someone on here once saying their rule when playing solo is not to be the first person caught or the last person caught (or something like that)

That is NOT true , SURVIVORS have the best perks in the game.its killers that get the short end of the stick when it comes to perks .

I don't use DH and actually sympathise when it comes to its (over)use, but I disagree with this. If you look at the chart of most used survivor perks, the only recent addition was Circle of Healing (2021) - and that has been nerfed twice already. All the rest were released 2017 and earlier. Looking at killer charts, you have many earlier perks too, but also perks from 2019, 2020, as well as of course Pain Resonance (2021).

I suspect when we get a 2022 update you'll see the recently buffed Dead Man's Switch and Call of Brine make an appearance. Us survivor mains get very little decent perks, and when we do they are nerfed. I can't imagine our 2022 stats will change much at all, especially with Haddie's lacklustre perks coming.

  • The thing is, you can't change other people. You will always come across killers or survivors who do or say things to upset you. That won't stop. So all you really can change is how you react to it.

For me, I just have the mindset that it's just a game. It's not that deep. Nodding, tbagging, whatever, pressing a button makes them feel good. Being camped, oh well I'll hang here for as long as I can and we'll just chill together. Tunnelling, oh well, maybe next game will be more interesting. Flashlights, I have Lightborn so I'm good.

  • What killer do you play? Certain killers seem to get more DCs or survivors killing themselves on hook than others, so it might be that you play a killer these teams don't like so they want out of the game asap and genrushing is how they choose to do it?

It's possible it's the double xp but I thought xp is based on how long you're in the game, as well as your emblems, so it'd be in their best interest really to not rush and actually play

  • I had Ormond 4 times in a row. I usually like that map but it was definitely a bit much

  • It could be a bug? I remember there was a bug once where survivors were all showing in the lobby in default outfits for a time. Otherwise just coincidence.

I'm not fussed on charms, I pretty much just use the Pocket Entity one. Reminds me of tamagotchis

  • Dropping MMR following the bloodhunt? Lots of players went pretty hard during the bloodhunt, might be they've seen their MMR get a bit too high for their liking. Just a guess anyway. I haven't really experienced that myself, aside from one AFK killer I had last night, but I'm a mid-rank survivor so if you're a high rank that could be why.

  • It's handy for those killers who leave hook but come back as soon as the survivor gets unhooked. A random had it the other day when they unhooked me and it saved me big time. The killer was looking all around the hook area for me but I'd gotten a good distance away by then. I don't know whether it needs any buffing tbh, it definitely did the job.

So does that mean if weve done it using the scoreboard bp we have to do another 7 surveys else we dont get rewarded?

Not too sure, sorry. The rules say to be eligible for the reward you need to share accurate bloodpoints earned. But since lots of people seem to be confused by this they might let it go? Hope so anyway because I was using scoreboard bp too

  • I'm pretty sure they said on another thread asking this same question that it's the total score, including any bonuses

Go straight to a locker if you are the first survivor to be chased by Tier 3 Michael in a match. If you are injured, jumping a window slowly will work as well.

I don't want the last few thrills to be removed from this game.

Also just sticking on a gen. He can't Tombstone you on a gen. He can wait until you're done but you just have to keep missing skill checks, and he will be forced to either grab you off or leave.

I don't mind giving a Myers a Tombstone kill but yeah, not two minutes into a game lol

  • I did the surveys but a couple times I closed the results out of habit, and all I managed to see for sure was the thousands result (ie. 24k) but forgot the smaller amounts. It says to "aim" for 7 consecutive games, which says to me it's okay if it's not. I'm pretty sure the only stipulation for getting rewards is the correct Cloud ID and exact amount of bp.

  • I suspected it's related to the bp grind and how much bp earned affects our perception of a good (or balanced) game. Only because the description says bloodpoints have to be exact or no reward. But I'm probably way off.

  • Overall my experience (as a casual solo player) has been fine. I do find evenings and weekends can be a bit of a mixed bag, but I assume the game prioritises finding me a lobby over MMR to decrease waiting time. I played several games yesterday and there was one game only that I'd say I got matched with terrible team mates.

I did notice in the days following the patch that my games were all over the place but I feel like it's settled now for me, personally.

  • Typically a baby killer or a frustrated killer. I don't know where I am MMR-wise but I suspect I'm middle rank because I actually rarely have camping killers. The ones who do camp aren't all that bad when they move away from hook - they know how to chase and use their powers. So when I get a camping one I honestly assume they're trying for high MMR.

  • Only if I know the killer has BBQ&C and the second last survivor is being hooked. This way I have a chance of saving them without giving myself away. If there is more than two of us left I don't bother hiding

  • 96% of the time you go to second hook and speed up your death. That's hardly a freebie

  • I don't run into those sorts of play styles enough for them to bother me at all

I think gen rush does exist as a concept but it's not the same as efficient survivor play

To me gen rush is when a 4 man all bring good toolboxes with BNP and have loadouts specifically designed around generator repair speed. The usual stuff like prove thyself, resillience, streetwise, built to last - stuff that makes generators go as fast as possible.

Thankfully this doesn't happen too often these days, a lot of matches can feel like a 'gen rush' but there's usually a little bit more to it than that. Plus, in the current meta most people run corrupt

This is what I've always viewed as gen rushing too. When the intent is to get in and get out asap, with an arsenal to boot.

For me personally, my initial goal upon entering any match is to get a gen done - preferably on my own. Because if I get killed off before I do that, then there's a chance i could miss out on a pip. Gens are pretty much prime objective. Once I have that gen done though then the map is my oyster lol totems, chases, rifling through chests, unhooking etc.

  • They really are. Just played two games - one where two survivors worked with the killer, and the other where someone twice unhooked me right in front of the killer. The second time i just stood there and let the killer down me. The latter prob didn't matter too much since the killer was hacking anyway so I wasn't fussed about leaving but still a bad play from team mates.

  • I'm not a fan of indoor maps generally but an old castle would be awesome

  • I think I've been pretty lucky. Played for 4 hours straight today, which is a definite record for me, and killers have been overall fine. Only two were... eh.. and both Bubbas. But I feel like that's normal for Bubba, I don't have high expectations when I see one so nothing surprises me anymore lol

  • The last three games in a row I've been second last to die and I've spectated all three times and seen the last survivor walking around with a crow or two above their head lol two hadnt even been hooked once. I sit there cheering on the killer lmao killers are being killers but team mates are terrible wow

  • I'm trying to lol I put on Distortion after getting a facecamping Bubba, so I can at least buy some time to run around gathering bp, and my tokens are disappearing like mad. Every killer is decked out with aura reading perks and every team mate I do a gen with has Prove Thyself.

I've only played a handful of games so far but I don't think I've seen anyone get over 20k yet, which is unusual, so I get what you're saying.

Not really when i play survivor. It's probably my imagination but it feels like every time I burn one as a survivor, the universe decides to give me the middle finger and I have a terrible game

Adding to this - decided to burn a BPS and got a facecamping Bubba on Lerys (my least fave map) lol the universe hates my BPS

Which is why I suggested the surrender option be added to the game. One killer player may be able to find a stealth team pretty quickly while another may not be able to find them at all. It also depends on your perks and which killer you're using. I highly doubt there will ever be a survivor team that intends to stay in a match forever... for a day... or even for a few hours. If a team wanted to see how long they can last I don't think they should be penalized for that. I also don't think the killer should have to stay for it if they don't want to, hence the suggestion of surrender.

In a situation like OPs, where he was on RPD, it can be an impossible game. He could search every single locker and find no one because they could have left a second level locker to jump down into a first level locker that had already been searched. Rinse and repeat.

If they're not even going to attempt to do their objective, then honestly they should be the ones to forfeit the game, not the killer. I'm sure the killer didn't sign up to play a half hour plus long game of hide and seek when he logged onto DBD. And this hide and seek seems to typically happen when a killer has the upper hand, so why a killer should concede or "surrender" because a couple of survivors can't face the prospect of losing a game is a bit baffling tbh. Instead of a surrender option, I'd much rather the entity consume remaining survivors if x-amount of time has passed without any significant gen progress.

Heck they put BBQ and Chili on the list....I mean why does that need changed or even looked at?

My assumption is because alot of the complaints around DH was that too many people used it. I think BBQ&C is used just as often on the killer side, so BHVR figured if they're going to rework one because of excessive use by survivors then they need to rework the other because of excessive use by killers.

In the stream I'm pretty sure they used the prospect of "variety" as the main point behind these reworks. Just trying to get people to use a variety of perks instead of the same old ones every game.

  • Ada Wong for sure. I've lost count of how many times people have said they want her in the game over the last year.

Survivors can't hold a game hostage. They can only hide until you eventually find them. Matches like this are why there is constant tension between survivors and killers.

As a survivor main, I absolutely consider this taking the game hostage. Both are usually vying for hatch and hoping the other gets found before they do. OP shouldn't have to run around the largest map multiple times to try and get a game moving.

I've seen more Nea and Claudette players with COH than I ever have Mikaela players I'm ngl.

So accurate, it's always a Nea or Claudette. When I play Mikaela and hear a boon go up I cringe because I'm positive the killer is going to hunt me down. I think the fact that I carry a medkit all the time is what saves me lol

  • Lots of constant negative feedback from players around the same perks being used and there being no variety. So I'm not surprised this is happening. BBQ&C is a frequently used perk, so they're trying to get players to vary it up a bit. I think that's pretty much all it comes down to

  • Really excited guys, thanks so much BHVR. I really enjoyed watching the stream and this summary is great GoodBoyKaru. Looking forward to the Masquerade event, prestige rework, and the bots! I'd like to branch out and play/learn more killers without the stress of having to navigate a live match while learning the killers powers. Really pleased. The only thing I was sad to see not covered (unless I missed it) was cross progression. But with the grind being reduced I might just try it on the PS5 afterall

  • I don't use Boons but I can't see this being that big an issue. I see a boon maybe once every 5-6 games and the boon totem is highlighted for survivors. So we know where to go immediately to cleanse it if the killer has Pentimento

  • Deathslinger is actually my least favourite to go against. Nurse is probably my favourite, as I find her very challenging. It used to be Spirit pre-nerf.

  • Dark Theory and Shadow Step are useless that far from a gen / killer. They're only beneficial around an active gen where survivors are likely to be chased. Exponential too generally since, again, you're likely to be chased and downed near a gen. CoH is really the only useful one there.

  • Do some folks just sit and watch these charts religiously? I feel like I'm seeing this posted constantly on here

I picked up Evil Dead earlier today (played 4 games total, 2 survivor and 2 Deadites)

Really the only similarity is that they're both Asymmetrical Horror Multiplayer games. They play very different from one another. Survivor in the game has a bunch of objectives they have to do and they fight back with weapons. Survivor is more Left 4 Dead than it is DBD.

Killer is VERY different from DBD. For one, you control what's more of a director than a direct combatant. If you are one of the five people who played Resident Evil Resistance, it's that, not DBD. You set traps, possess characters, and for the most part indirectly fight (you can take control of a Deadite but that's a small chunk of killer gameplay).

I suppose the only reason it might syphon players away is people only have so much time in the day to devote to gaming but the two games in terms of gameplay are not all that similar.

This. I watched a streamer play it yesterday and it's really its own game. It's not a copy of DBD at all. I think alot of people that enjoy DBD will also enjoy ED, but as a separate game and not as a replacement. After watching the stream it really doesn't appeal to me personally.

  • Watched JRM streaming it earlier, and I don't think it's for me personally. It does look like a decent game though, just not something I can see myself playing long-term.

  • I remember reading that Bruce Campbell owns the rights to Ash Williams, apparently was part of his payment terms way back when with ED. If true then it’s another income stream for him so I can’t see him taking Ash out of DBD. It’s not like his inclusion in this game will make or break the ED game. If Ash were as popular as Feng then maybe.

Why'd she bring you to Midwich, the most Killer-sided Map in the game?

Probably wasn’t aware that exploitable spot at the top of those stairs had been patched

  • It reminded me that I had been meaning to buy Alessa for awhile, so I guess that works. Be nice if there was a sale for sure though.

  • I read it was first introduced as a means of preventing the game from being held hostage and/or carrying on for longer than necessary. Killers can use it to start the endgame.

  • She's my favourite to go against. Chases are just different and change is good sometimes
