Cheaters have the capabilities to target players to increase the chance of joining their lobbies. Streamers are more often targeted by this.

They were doing this to Tru3 for several months, even admitting it in post-game chat. He got one of them banned and it just made the guy's mates go harder. He was called paranoid but I'm seeing lately more and more streamers are copping it. It's gone from a seemingly isolated incident to completely widespread. As I recall, it's been happening as far back as Nov 2021.

  • I'd wager there was probably more, most are just very subtle

  • I don't think it's Legion, I think it's the *amount* of Legions playing at the moment. I've seen people report having 5+ games in a row of Legion since the buff. I think once the novelty wears off and people go back to using a variety of other killers then survivors will stop DCing. I played against a Legion last night and no one DC'd, which was nice.

  • Current SBMM is apparently based on kills, not hooks, for killers. So to get a higher MMR, killers really do only need to aim for 4 hooks. They can camp said hook/s until the person dies. For a killer trying to get into high MMR they probably see no reason to sweat for the 12 hooks.

  • I play a bit of killer but I do prefer survivor. I'm a pretty chill player and the only time I get any real anxiety is when I can hear hatch but can't find the bloody thing. Especially so when I can the killer's terror radius getting louder

I don't understand the dead zone in the middle comments. I don't think I've ever been there when there has not been at least one or two pallets in between the cars in the street.

I'm not high MMR, they're used up pretty quickly in my games

  • I try and spend as little time as possible in that middle dead zone. I go around the sides.

  • But that's really the point of competitive games, is it not? To arm yourself with that which gives you the best advantage over other players? The people that use arguably weaker or niche perks are usually those who just want to meme around and don't usually have the goal of coming out on top.

I mean, I don't use CoH or DH or any items other than an occasional medkit, and I'd consider myself a pretty average player. If I wanted to be better, then I'd probably take advantage of those for sure.

  • I'm a solo survivor and honestly, Legion only *just* got a buff. It's going to take time to adjust and adapt. I guarantee in a few months you'll be totally chill going against them.

  • I'd love an older Laurie. It'd be cool if Jamie Lee Curtis ever signed off on using her current likeness.

DH - can’t time anything when it’s used outside your swinging range.

    Spine Chill - I agree.

CoH - And how exactly do I know who booned? If there’s a Mikaela, solid chance it’s her, but then that results in unwarranted tunneling just because of the character.

In my experience, as a solo survivor, I see more Neas putting down boons than I do Mikaelas. I find when I play Mikaela that I have an easier time if I bring a medkit, otherwise the killer does seem to assume I placed the boon (I don't even bring boons lol)

  • Maybe they can web up areas, or even the inside of lockers, so survivors get stuck. Same kind of mechanic I guess as Trapper's traps, though you'd be blind to the ones inside the lockers until you enter.

  • I'm a solo player and love kindred. Also Overcome or Lithe, Iron Will, Windows of Opportunity, Distortion, and Prove Thyself. They tend to be the ones I alternate through, though I use others of course when doing certain challenges.

Edit: oh and BT on occasion too

  • Had a horrific thought. I imagine the fog exists outside of time, since the survivors don't age, so imagine being pregnant and getting taken by the entity. You'd presumably be pregnant forever.

  • Congrats! My goal at the moment is to unlock all survivor perks and get them on as many characters as I can (so far Zarina and Mikaela have all perks ive unlocked and im working on Laurie (only have a handful of perks to go too)) so I've been forgoing P3, and honestly probably won't ever P3 them at this point. I want to do the same for killers eventually, if I ever get there. The grind is rough.

  • Solo q are typically the weak links when matched with swfs - we can't communicate and get a heads up about killer perks or location, and swfs won't stick their neck out as much for us as they would each other. Killers know this, and they won't cut us any slack. 100% if they have to settle for a kill it will be the solo players they go for. Killers being able to see who is a swf and who is solo would just be another disadvantage to solo players imo

  • Just had a camping Bubba tonight! Haven't actually seen one in awhile. I was solo and figured the first person on hook would sacrifice themselves but they didn't and we smashed the gens. I got downed with NOED after the last gen popped and was camped, and thankfully the last two survivors opened the gate and left. He still got 2k but I did lead him on a decent chase and no one validated his strategy, so i was content.

  • ONE survivor is gay. Just one. Out of a couple dozen. That's hardly attention seeking or screaming it out to the world or whatever other overreaction you want to liken it to. A small percentage of the population is gay, and that's now reflected in the game with one single solitary survivor.

  • As a Zarina main... this is accurate lol

  • Sucks for Otz but it doesn't happen enough imo to really be a problem. If there's at least one survivor running around, most hooked survivors will wait for them to come. There is a massive risk in trying to unhook yourself, most don't do it because it speeds up the sacrifice. It only pays off for that tiny percentage.

  • I'd get Starstruck if you ever have the chance. It sends everyone running lol

  • I'm a solo player and swfs absolutely directly (and often negatively) affect my gameplay, but stopping people from playing a *game* with friends isn't the solution. I'm not even sure there is a solution tbh. If given the option to not play against swfs, majority of killers will take it. The devs won't let swf die out.

I do feel like every time survivors get thrown a bone (a buff or new beneficial perk) it gets abused by coordinated swfs and it's solo survivors who bear the brunt of the inevitable nerfs more than anyone. So I do sympathise with killers on the swf issue.

  • All this really does though is ensure solo survivors don't equip it, which they're already unlikely to do with the upcoming slight nerf. The issue to me is that CoH can be problematic in the hands of coordinated swfs, and not being able to heal yourself probably won't matter to swfs who all "reset" themselves together in CoH when in a snowball situation. That's why one or more bring it. No self healing just punishes solo q survivors again. I honestly feel like we cop the brunt of the punishment because of swfs on comms.

  • My survivor experience has been the same as yours. I'm not sure whether it's the double xp weekend and maybe all the people playing have thrown things out of whack, but I'm going to see if it's still the same during the week. Killers have been really skilled, my chase times have become woeful, and I'm getting terrible team mates leaving me until second hook. It's definitely been an off weekend.

  • Is it usually like that or just a one off? You might have just had some bad luck with people trying to take advantage of double XP. I don't like farming and I rarely actually come across it thankfully. I also don't usually play on weekends because I find matchmaking to be all over the place, but I'm playing this weekend for the XP and my games are weird. Terrible team mates all around.

  • Not yet. There was supposed to be but it seems they hit a snag. I use Switch and while having a handheld copy is great, it's definitely the worst visually. I'd love to be able to move to my PS5 without starting over.

  • IMO, a bot mode would help. So if you're new to killer you can just try different killers out and practice on ones you want to get better at. So you're not just jumping into the deep end and having to learn while potentially getting bullied.

  • I'm in the same boat. Started on Switch and want to play now on my PS5. The grind is way too hard to start again

  • People are home from work in the evenings and want to play with their friends. So lots of survivors online

  • Yeah I'm having an odd evening. Spent more time queued up than I have in game. First game was a super skilled killer who had everyone out before a single gen had popped. Second killer was a hacker and I have no idea how the team managed to get two gens done before we all died but we managed. Third match was going okay but killer DC'd.

  • Most are very subtle. As a survivor, I've been running Distortion a bit and I can see how common wall hacks are. Most will try and be subtle and come right to you after hooking, thinking you'll assume it's BBQ & Chilli. But when I don't lose a token I obviously get sus and wait to check perks. Usually it's just that killer's three starting perks. A few times I've purposely waited in a corner where a completed gen is for a laugh and they'll still come directly to me lol

The next most common one I see is a survivor "escaping" the game when exit gates aren't even open, or else the instant gen one.

  • I don't care about prestige and I still definitely have a hard time. I don't get hours a day to play though, so I guess just not having enough time is really my primary issue. But we do get a new killer and survivor/s every few months, so for those who started playing years ago they might be able to keep up but for newer players it's a struggle for sure. I'd like to play more killer but since I'm still grinding away on survivor perks i don't have the extra to put into unlocking my preferred killer perks.

  • I really hated it at first but the more I played it, the more familiar I got. I'm still not 100% familiar (maybe 70%?) but I'm slowly getting there. Eventually I'll know it like the back of my hand I'm sure lol and I've actually faced a few Huntresses on there and got my butt kicked, especially down the long hallways

  • I imagine Plague would smell like rotten meat and patchouli

  • I'm a survivor main, and NOED actually doesn't bother me. Not fussed at all if i die, as long as I pulled my weight during the game. I usually get NOED vibes off certain killers anyway and cleanse or take note of totem locations so I can hit the hex totem if NOED activates. Then I die trying to get everyone out anyway lol

Quick and Quiet plus Lithe is one of my go to combos. Break line of sight, hit a window/pallet and you're long gone while the killer is still searching around the loop.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2907332#Comment_2907332

I'm All Ears is one of my favorite killer perks, and is super strong on certain killers. I play a lot of PH, and on him I run it pretty much every time.

Q&Q, Lithe, and Dance With Me. Takes up a few spots but it'll end chases pretty quick

  • I had a survivor on my team hacking and they revealed themselves after the last gen popped with the usual hacker shenanigans and at the same time i started getting unreal lag. I opened the gate and left immediately because it was just constant shuddering.

I was wondering how they managed to achieve this or if it was just a side effect of their hacks?

  • I haven't received it yet either. I bought the DLC on the day of release. I've given up on getting it now.

  • So I discovered this game through a streamer and they had been playing since the game was released so were obviously really confident and knew how to play. They made it look easy. I went into it with the same confidence and was just running around the map like no worries. Was the first to die all the time obviously, but it's definitely helped my gameplay in the long term so I look back at that stupidity fondly.

  • I don't mind them, I just avoid them lol for something different I had a basement hag recently. Downed and hooked the 3-man swf I was matched with in no time and had herself a lovely Christmas tree down there. I watched it all go down with Kindred while I worked on gens.

  • There is an ability to leave a game without DCing though, if you feel strongly about the opportunity to leave as you please. You can intentionally die on hook.

Edit: reading your other replies I see you are a killer

I'll quit the game before I start a fresh account on PC. I have too much progress and DLC on the Switch.

It has been said in the past that all DLC is supposed to transfer with cross-progression. There's even a thread where someone specifically contacted BHVR about the Stranger Things chapter: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/275028/crossprog-and-stranger-things-question

Unfortunately, as much as I'd love for it to happen, I'm not holding my breath for Switch cross-progression.

Good to know re DLC. I remember there was an announcement that Switch cross progression was originally on the cards but then it was updated that it was delayed and there's no ETA. I can't remember if it was dev confirmed or just speculation sorry, but people were saying the licensing was causing the issue. Again, not sure how true that was. It'd be great to have my DLC transfer should cross progression be back on the cards

  • I'm seeing mostly wall hacks. They think they can just pass it off as BBQ and Chilli but it's obvious if you run a perk like Distortion.

  • I'm in the same boat. I don't have hours available to me to play, and I started on the Switch, so the thought of putting all that time and grind into another console is hard. If the grind wasnt so rough then i'd probably consider it but it is what it is. I have a PS5 that I'd love to play dbd on but I'm patiently waiting and hoping for cross progression. If it's because of Nintendo pushing back, well I can honestly say I wouldn't abandon the Switch because having handheld available is still convenient even if the graphics are poor. Plus I have the ST chapter on Switch, and I imagine licenses wouldn't be part of cross progression.

I've always been in support of a second Survivor objective.

Few people enjoy sitting on gens and Killers don't enjoy seeing gens pop quickly.

I feel like BHVR have been attempting to push survivors away from gens lately though. We got Pinhead with his cube objective, Artist who can drive survivors off gens from across the map, Onryo with her video tape objective (I would not be surprised if they buff her condemned soon). Perks lately like SH:PR, CoB, Merciless Storm, and the DMS buff, etc, all designed to drive survivors off gens. I do feel like they're trying.

  • I think it's worth a try. It's not going to solve toxicity 100% but I could see it helping to reduce it by some degree.

  • I'm a solo player and honestly I just accept the disadvantages and play how I feel. Sometimes I feel altruistic, sometimes I feel selfish, sometimes I look forward to getting into chases, sometimes I cbf and just want to smash out some challenges. I also don't play expecting to escape. I go in expecting to die, so escape is just a nice surprise.

  • At 2000 hours I'd assume you're an experienced killer. Why do you want to go against baby survivors? That doesn't seem like great MMR imo

  • It sucks when it happens but I move on after, i don't hold a grudge. I play solo and if it's happening too much I'll switch to a stealthy build for awhile to get a break and be able to complete objectives. Easy.

I agree that its absolutely a strategy, but it's also not a skilled one. Anybody could just pick the game up for the first time today and get a bunch of kills by camping.

I remember someone in the community once saying something like 'camping, tunnelling, tbagging, flashlights... it's not that deep.' And that's kind of my motto when playing. Knocked down in the first few minutes and face camped to death? It's not that deep, move onto the next game.

  • I can't even get videos (playing on Switch, until cross progression happens so I can move to my ps5) so I just report hackers at the end of the game but I'm not sure if it actually does anything. My thinking is that if someone gets enough reports against them without video then they might get looked into but who knows.
