No it totally doesnt give you more snow ball at all by making it so you have built in PTGW and ruin /s. Dude you're idea is quite literally "give killers 2 free perk slots for doing nothing"

Maybe it does sound a little crazy I'll admit, but it's for the health of the game. I mean, look, you see many people get turned off by many things in this game such as gen-rush, tunneling, camping, insta-heals, and so on; I can list many more things if you want me to.

Sure, my idea isn't perfect, nothing is perfect, but I feel like this would make the game more enjoyable. Survivors and killers have their own problems, I feel like it would in our best interest to make both sides enjoyable. Survivors don't want to get camped a lot, which is understandable because it does prevent you from doing anything. However, at the end of the day, we should be encouraging the killer to go out there and find some new blood, ya know?

I also understand there are times where you're supposed to camp, that's fine. My idea is supposed to stop unnecessary camping, and encourage a more interactive game. :)

The idea can always be changed later to fit the balance of the game. Since you do seem to have a problem with my idea, which is completely fine, do you have any suggestions to make it better? I can't do anything with, "Bad idea, bad thread" ya know?

  • The graphics, they were fine before but now... Ugh! :(

The fact killers already gain pressure and map control from one hook is the reward for not camping. You gain more pressure and snowball this is literally an easier step to snowballing

You know survivors don't have to get off of generators when someone is hooked, they can keep repairing the generator until the hooked survivor is about to progress to the next phase. Also, this doesn't make snowball potential any better because you have to go to a generator in order to get these effects - it doesn't help you take down more survivors.

  • @CoffengMin said:

i dont like it tbh i really dont need the killer to have built in ruin

Originally, I had the generator become harder to repair by slowing down your repair speed for 60/90/120 seconds. However, we all know how boring it is to M1 a generator forever. Therefore, if you can hit greats, the Ruin effect won't keep you at that generator any longer than normal.

Well I'm not an expert but I think no matter how much spaghetti your code is, this would be just a simple if-else line and shouldnt break anything. Shouldn't is the keyword here tho. At least we should try that in a PTB

Ooo, JavaScript, I'm an expert with that programming language! :)

They could make a function or an array that detects what maps are reworked, and therefore, disable Bloodlust.

Tunneling is a legit strat. You want killers to stop tunneling? Make games go by slower. Until then, no buffs to anything that stops tunneling.

I don't think he's saying tunneling ISN'T a viable strategy, because I think he's implying it isn't healthy for the game I think.

  • @Masantonio is picking up Nurse right now, and when he gets done, he's gonna be a monster Nurse! :)

Yes, a free kill that only required the killer stomped the survivors. Truly, it's 100% free and required absolutely no effort on the killer's behalf.

I think he's saying you can destroy 3/4th if the survivor team, and if you know where the hatch is at, you'll also destroy the remaining 1/4 of the survivor team.

This is true, but only if the Exit Gates spawn in a way that makes it impossible to escape, not difficult. :)

  • It's not Suggestive's fault, she's just the messenger, not the person who ultimately decides what happens. However, you shouldn't really be doing it for the reward, you should be doing it for the passion and growth of the game, ya know?

Anyways, I feel like they might give you a reward, but only 18/20 of the total reward.

  • Entity Displeased ;)

Edit: Only @Masantonio gets the joke. :D

"Using Decisive Strike will no longer spawn an obsession at the start of the match, a survivor has to use this perk in order to become the obsession."

Basically the killer can just slug whoever gets unhooked and wait 60 seconds, thus no one gets to even use DS and obsession dosen't spawn.

If you the killer uses an Obsession perk, regardless of what Obsession perks the survivors are using, there will always be an Obsession. DS don't hide the Obsession icon unless it's the ONLY Obsession perk being used on BOTH sides.

  • Poor guy, I was talking to him while he was playing Nurse and he told me it was very very difficult! :(

He's taking a break right now, but he'll be back very soon! I encourage him to keep trying her out because it's going to be amazing once you learn her! :)

But there is no 'when not to camp'. If a Killer wants to camp, it's time to camp.

You're trying to yank that decision out of the Killer player's hands with mechanics that reward or punish based on rules you make up.

Again: The game is not smart. The game cannot tell WHY a player is camping. Therefor, the game should not be able to decide if THIS camp is more important than THAT camp.

What if I want to camp someone because they have a key & I'm scared it's pink?

Or if they keep Flashlight stunning me?

Or they happen to be on a hook near a 3-gen patrol route?

Or the closest non-sabo'd hook was near an open exit gate & I know they will get away if they're unhooked?

Or it's on The Game & I'm not camping, because I'm on the floor ABOVE the hooked Survivor but because of mechanics, this still puts them in my terror radius?

The list goes on and on. Once again; you're just trying to make up rules based on what you think is a legit play style and, to you, camping is not legit.

But it IS legit. And there are tons of reasons why someone may camp, and you can't program all those reasons into the game. It's just not possible.

So stop asking for mechanics to 'encourage' or 'punish' campers.

Actually the game can tell why you're camping because it doesn't punish you when there are survivors near the hook. The other reasons why you would camp isn't really a valid reason, but hey, suit yourself. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Also, why do you keep assuming I hate camping? I camp as well, but I only do it only when it benefits me as the killer. Yes, even as a Nurse main, I will camp if you give me enough of a reason to camp (I.E. Survivors Near The Hook, Gates Opened, and so on).

  • @Sneaky_Dwight said:

Here's what you're not getting, dude:

Camping is legit for various reasons the game can't ever recognize.

Hell, I'll bring up an example from just yesterday:

I was on the snowy cabin level (forget the name) and the Survivors messed up and 3-Genned themselves. I could literally patrol all 3 remaining generators in under 4 seconds; it was a straight line from the ski lodge gen to a gen RIGHT outside the hole in the wall made by the plow, to a third gen RIGHT past that.

I downed a Survivor and hooked him on the closest hook..which was maybe 15 meters from the first gen outside the ski lodge.

He went from full to dead because he was inside my TR while I patrolled the gens. Nothing I could do about it; I did not have to leave the gens and give the Survivors their final repair or the unhook.

The point being; I deserved neither a punishment for 'camping' nor a reward for walking away; they 3-genned themselves and I hooked the Survivor in a good spot (even without realizing it until after the hooking).

So, again; stop asking/suggesting/demanding for 'camping fixes'. It's part of the game to secure the kill, and anyone asking for this change is basically expecting the devs to change the game based on their OPINION of a perfectly legitimate playstyle.

It would be like going to Overwatch and saying 'I don't think sniping is fair. It encourages people to not play the objective. Plz remove all snipers.'

    SMH

I'm not saying you aren't allowed to camp, there's a time and place for camping. However, I feel like you should get rewarded for knowing when NOT to camp.

  • You got this! Don't give up my dude!

You're not seeing the point, this would be a huge power curve for no trade off. You camp cool free kill, dont camp cool free perk slots. There is no trade off for the play you're just getting rewarded either way.

Not really, I can get many hooks and downs just to be gen-blitzkrieg'd because survivors are that efficient with generators. Overall, it's not as bad as you think, we don't even know how it could play out yet. Maybe it needs a nerf? Maybe it needs a buff? Maybe it's perfect? We don't know for sure yet.

  • @undeadmauler said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/614811#Comment_614811

This change is literally a win/lose. Killers will get a massive buff and survivors who will already be pressured to save and will get nerfed and forced into a loss with just one hook. Itll make ruin obselite and it's just another huge power curve for no reason other than people arnt using the counterplays given to them. You just want more free strength with 0 downsides.

If the killer wants that power, they will need to distance themselves from the hooked survivor, and even then, they won't always have this amount of power. They will lose it over time when there is no survivors hooked. Also, the downsides are rather small, you can tap the generator and power through Ruin like most survivors do nowadays.

  • @ArecBalrin said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/614803#Comment_614803

This makes it sound worse. Bloodlust needs removing from the game so the devs can't use it to pretend they addressed pallet-looping.

Actually, Bloodlust is a compensation mechanic for killers who happen to get bad map RNG. It's not supposed to stop looping, it's supposed to stop any nonsense survivors can do when they hit the map lottery (I.E. Lumpkin Lane)

  • @undeadmauler said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/614804#Comment_614804

That makes no sense. You get rewarded already by map pressure and control of the game if you camp you only get rewarded when people are too altruistic. You're suggestions are just handholding for bad plays

Actually it's rewarding killers for good plays, which encourages them to go out for some new blood! :)

Camping is annoying, but necessary in the game. We want to reduce as much camping as possible while still giving killers the option to camp when the situation is right (I.E. Exit Gates Opened, Survivors Near Hook)

  • @undeadmauler said:

Another reward for not camping thread even tho camping is a viable strategy and is countered by doing gens or bt or dstirke how strange

I would rather get rewarded for not camping, then to get punished for camping - At least that's what most if the community thinks is the best choice.

  • There are some good killers such as @Masantonio:

We happened to stumble into a game with each other and his Spirit is really nasty! Luckily I had Iron Will, but still, he knows what he's doing! :)

Except that they don't because it's very easy to deduce what perks the killer is using. Also let me know when it take 60 seconds to cleanse a totem.

60 seconds is a bit ridiculous, you would have to nerf every Hex perk in the game to compensate for that amount of time, let alone what Thrill of The Hunt can do.

  • @TAG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/614701#Comment_614701

What about scenarios when you don't tunnel the Survivor with DS but instead just randomly down them later on by chance, only to find that they still have DS?

Usually you can tell if a survivor has DS if they want to be downed.

  • @Tzeentchling9 said:

So where is the #CoUnTeRpLaY for Killers to use against DS? Or is that just a Survivor privilege?

Well survivors have to act like every killer is using NOED, which has a healthy impact of slowing the game down. This is called counter balance because you don't have enough evidence to prove someone isn't running this perk, so you have to assume they do or take the risk of them actually having the perk. :)

  • Y'all, he's saying that you can tell if there is a DS in your game if you see an Obsession, usually. If you don't see an Obsession, that means there's no Obsession perks in your game, which means you can tunnel without worrying about DS. He wants to make it where you can't differentiate between the two so the killers will have act like every survivor is using DS.

  • @ArecBalrin said:

It would mean Pop Goes The Weasel would become excessively-strong, unless it was nerfed. That's the obvious bit.

Ruin would lose marginal utility, but not enough to make up for the fact that overall it can be equipped to hinder gen progress until the first person gets hooked and from then on Ruin will practically be in effect all-game.

How are survivors supposed to respond to this? They could rediscover the playstyles they've ignored for two and a half years, in order to not get in chases and not get hooked to begin with, but there is a perverse incentive to let anyone who is downed before the first gen is finished to die on the hook: they are feeders for the killer and can't carry their own dead-weight.

I personally feel the devs bottled on implementing reasons for survivors to turn on each other and it's something they should have done more forcefully about a year ago. It would have been an important step in closing the gap between solo and SWF. Now though, there is more demand for survivors to be given means of co-operating. The only ones who will engage in mechanics that nudge them towards betraying others is 2-3 person SWF, when they single-out people not in their group.

Survivors can respond by not letting the hooked survivor stay hooked for too long, which is quite easy since the killer has to travel to a generator in order to get any use from this effect.

You can also loop the killer or stealth it out until you know the killer doesn't have anymore power. Tap regressing generators to start the Ruin part, so you don't have to deal with it later. Of course numbers can be tweaked, but you should get the basic idea! :)

  • Also, the reason why I gave it an 8/10 rate is because the only unique thing he offers is a dull outline, ya know? I mean every killer has a thing that makes them special.

    Clown - Gas

    Nurse - Teleport

    Spirit - Controlled Teleport

    Legion - Vaulting

Doctor - Madness & Shock Therapy

  • I want to see a new healing animation for healing dying survivors because the animation makes it look like you're healing the air, not the dying survivor! :)

    Power: Beast of the Hunt

Your years of hunting trips and kills has honed your senses to a point. Press the power button to activate Beast of the Hunt. (Aka BOTH)

While BOTH is active, you receive the following benefits:

    - Moderately increased lunge (longer than EW3)

    - Slightly increased movement speed (5%)

    - Dull outline on all Survivors

    - Moderately increased action speeds

    - Brighter blood

    - Scratch Marks last Moderately longer

    - Smaller TR (to 20 meters)

    - Wider FOV (T1 Shadowborn)

    - Reduced missed and successful hit cooldown)

BOTH lasts 20 seconds, or until a Survivor is hit. Hitting a Survivor reduces the cooldown by 33%. Base cooldown is 20 seconds.

    Base stats:

    Height: Average

    Red stain slightly dimmer.

    Otherwise normal.

    Thoughts?

I mean, the idea is pretty decent, and it's like a DH because you can use your ability to close distances really fast against survivors, especially the outline effect. The outline basically turns mind games into guessing games for the survivors, but they can just abandon the loop for something more safe while your power is active.

    Solid Idea: 8/10

  • @GrootDude said:

I agree, idk why the devs haven’t nerfed the broken key item, super broken!

Broken keys are so BROKEN! 😏

Jokes aside, keys are annoying because they they grant survivors the ability to leave early.

This also applies to mori because they do the same thing by granting survivors to the ability leave early (1 hook then down), but it's a lot more annoying than keys are.

Again Again: Camping is legit. Deal with it.

Stop asking for punishments/rewards based on what YOU like and don't like. You're trying to force people to play 'your way'.

Because what Survivors need is FASTER gen repair during the Era Of Genrush. πŸ™„

People need to stop asking for punishments. It's getting rather silly at his point. And yes, it is punishing the killer to reward the Survivors with faster mechanics.

Survivors need to do all 5 generators before the killer gets their first sacrifice, and if they don't, the killer can potentially get a 2K. If the developers consider a 2K balanced, then we definitely don't want encourage camping if it's considered a viable strategy.

Also, to be clear, I'm talking about camping in terms of doing it, just to do it.

  • @se05239 said:

Oh look, this suggestion again. Good thing it has already been tried out in a PTB and scrapped, thanks to survivors exploiting the mechanic.

It would be cool if there was something called determination that survivors gain when they work on a generator while the killer is within a 16 meter range to the hooked survivor! :)

This effect gets stronger per every survivor repairing a generator.

Honestly, the messages don't bother me anymore, and I often just tell the salty survivors that they are amazing. This confuses a lot of survivors, and they often don't message me again! :)

  • @thesuicidefox said:

How would this work in the case of killer closing hatch though?

Gatekeeper needs a rework I just don't know about setting it to a time limit. It's still up to survivors how well you do. If they decide to go slow that's not necessarily a reflection of your ability as killer, more their decision as survivors.

I don't know if closing the hatch should grant an immediate iridescent because you still have to protect the Exit Gates against one survivor.

With Gatekeeper being based on how long both Exit Gates remain closed, killers can make end game builds to try and protect them. This gives killers more control on defending the Exit Gates while helping killers who struggle with map pressure overall a better chance of a good Gatekeeper quality.

Also, you don't really need to protect the Exit Gates to do well because there are other ways to earn a good Gatekeeper emblem quality!

I'll pick one from my OP and tell you how this gives the killer more of a chance to do well.

Sliver: You will receive enough emblem points to reach a sliver Gatekeeper if you regress the equivalent of a generator worth of progression.

You can use perks to increase how much you regress generators such as POTW, Overcharge, Huntress Lullaby, Unnerving Presence, Ruin, and so on! You as a killer have the ability to do well on Gatekeeper because you actually have an answer - it's not all based on the survivors skill.
