I think people dislike it because it's effective. Especially destroying survivors if they aren't good at those sudden skill checks. The key is to always expect them and have your hand on the space bar and be paying close attention. Practicing achieving great skill checks is super helpful in this game. In the end though, perks to assist in chases or locate survivors are much better than gen perks imo. They can only go so far to be helpful.

Camping is toxic?
It's definitely not toxic, it's just annoying to the survivor. Tunneling and camping are pretty much the only thing the killer can do at endgame so I never get mad at it.

I thought a neon map would've been amazingly cool and that's what I was expecting from the title screen when All Kill chapter came out and was disappointed to find out it was not happening...

The forums will undergo some major changes and there haven’t been resources to add these apparently. Though I think it has been confirmed they will add missing profile pictures later on
Ah okay, thank you
-
That would be horrifying, that game is scary. Maybe the only way you could see the killer is through a camera flash?
-
I'm a little late to this thread, but I feel like people feel this way because they know how bad survivors can behave. They can make you feel bad and question your ability as a killer, literal example of cyber bullying... it's never fun. You're basically signing yourself up to be bullied playing killer sometimes and that's what the anxiety means. I get it every single time I play! My heart races, my hands shake, I get closer to the screen... it's horrible but I play killer only to get my rift fragments now and I play Spirit.
-
If I really wanna play, I can wait, I'll just watch YouTube while I find a lobby. It will just be really annoying if players start dcing because it's a killer they don't wanna play with or they get downed so early. I will say, queue times are gonna be quite long, so I want to request that survivors please don't dc so quick and actually try for a little bit when this new update releases.

So, I'm only going to comment on the shrine of secrets part by saying that the shrine of secrets is a pretty garbage way to do perks. It needs a rework, significantly faster updates, more slots per update, or a "pity" system for how long a perk can not show up.
One of the more extreme examples I can point to is: Mettle of Man. If you want that licensed perk through the shrine, you would have had to of played on June 24, 2020 or November 24, 2019 (those weeks, I don't care to look up the exact full dates). Those are the only two times that perk has ever been on the shrine and it's not been on the shrine once in over 2 years. I think that's a bit more than "you just might not get them at the pace you want" for a pay to play game.
Now, is Mettle of Man a good perk? No, not really. However, Circle of Healing is pretty good and that hasn't been on the shrine since it came out over 10 months ago either.
My quote is still true though, is it not? You don't get them at the pace you want, not at all. I agree the shrine needs a rework, but it's still true that, yeah you have to buy the game to play, but afterwards, what you buy is optional and not required to win. Also, Mikaela can be bought with shards so, idk why people are waiting in the shrine for CoH.
-
Survivors at the end of they day are basically skins, because you can unlock their perks in the shrine with shards anyway, you just might not get them at the pace you want. Killers for the most part however, kind of are pay to play since their powers are unique. Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Huntress and Nurse are all free.
-
I honestly don't use it anymore since newer perks haven't been worth getting in my opinion. Reassurance? Won't even bother. Bloodpoints aren't worth more than shards to me, 100k is super easy to get.
-
I agree it needs some loosening up, they censor way too many words that don't need censoring. Too many sensitive people nowadays complaining and being easily offended by everything I guess.
-
I think the devs know there's no completely getting rid of it, all they can do is make it harder for them to do so.
-
I never read post chat anymore, especially if I know I played a bit dirty at the end. I know I'm gonna get a bunch of trash talk from little kids who were angry that they didn't get their 7k escape points at the end. I assume I won't escape any match I go into anyway so I don't get angry if someone leaves me on the hook for hatch, good job to my teammate if they find it.

No I mean 4/5 left to be done, so near the start of the game.
Oh sorry I thought you meant 4/5 gens done. Oh then yeah that sucks, I understand for the beginning of the game how frustrating that is. I still think though, the old Reassurance would've only spelled trouble for teammates who just wanna troll.
-
What was the point of this?

Who cares about being camped in endgame, there's nothing else for the killer to do. Having a leatherface staring at you for minutes on end with 4/5 gens left is the thing which actually sucks
4/5 gens? That's pretty near endgame, and apparently a lot of survivors cared, otherwise they wouldn't have made thread after thread complaining about it. And I never said I cared about getting camped endgame, so.

I think a better fix for camping would have been to be able to keep the survivor alive for longer than 30 secs per person using the perk (which will most likely be only 1 per lobby if any, as it's a DLC perk and not everyone can afford a 8$ band aid fix), with the option for the survivor on hook to decline the reassurance. There. No non-consensual indefinite hook state.
I wouldn't have minded deactivating the perk once the gates are powered as well, since it's a time where camping is completely legit in my opinion, and that way there could not be an infinite that would inconvenience the killer.
Camping after the exit gates are powered is probably the biggest issue since that's when it is more than likely to happen. That's probably why the perk was made in the first place because so many survivors complained about camping after the exit gates were powered, that's when I get camped 100% of the time anyway.

Reassurance got nerfed in a way that makes it much less effective, and Better Than New no longer gives repair speed. So no, survivors got nerfed as well.
I don't believe Reassurance got nerfed at all, it just prevented survivors from keeping you on the hook indefinitely, is that what you wanted?

Escaping now awards 7,000 survival points. If the gates are already opened, an unhook is worth 2,000 BP - and the additional 500 if it is safe.
Ah I never noticed, so it really makes you consider before going to the unhook now huh.

Yeah, try doing all that during end-game, when all the pallets are gone
Depends on the game man and who your teammates are, take risks considering what's available. If you can, you can, if you can't, you can't. You can't say it's impossible every single match.

Escape gives you 5k points, unhook - only 1750 in total. So it's better to escape than to die for unhook.
Well, depends on what combination of things you do, if you continuously stun and escape, you could get more than 5k. Just saying.

If I used custom icons for a few months and them deleted them that means that I will instantly get banned in the future when EAC decides to ban people for this?
You are still worried about this? If you're so paranoid about it, maybe you shouldn't use them 😕
-
A few threads on this has already been made. It's kind of old news by now.
-
Why are so many of these popping up suddenly? Who cares if you spend all of your life on this game just to post this thread. Some people don't take the game as seriously and actually take the time to enjoy the game and don't care if they win. This isn't even the current version of the game. Play SoloQ in the current state of the game and then you'll really impress.
-
Not everyone is selfish, if the killer is no where near the hooked survivor, just gather up the courage and unhook them. It's more points in the end anyway. The only time I don't go for the unhook is if the killer is hovering the hook.
-
For the dress, I think it's beautiful, almost reminds me of Feng Min's dress from the event. I also like the coat, I hope that also gets implemented into the game. I can see why Leon likes her 🤗
-
Would be pretty cool if it was actually implemented properly, but unfortunately, I don't think the POV would be implemented properly.

What exactly is fun about them?
I just think they are, having another objective to focus on and be rewarded for is fun for me.
-
I would like it to be so where we don't have to hold down the item to buy it. Also, so it doesn't show the in-between level notifications.
-
It took me a second to realize you were being sarcastic, kind of made me giggle. Idk I think the Rift challenges are kind of fun 🙄
-
I just recently stopped using Self Care. Inner Strength (I forget the newer version's name), is a lot better and more efficient. You get your healing in a short amount of time, and potentially knock the killer's hex perks out of the match, kind of a win-win! The only con of using it is hoping no one is using COH because then that's being selfish.

After 3 seconds the killer could break the pallet
The devs should see this and make this a thing, that would be a cool idea

Ok thank you but isn't there anything to do to make the chances of getting banned dissapear?
Well if you want to completely make sure, just uninstall the game, make sure you completely get rid of any icon pack tools or mods you used, re-install the game, and validate your game files. I'm sure you'll be fine 🙂
-
You might get the exact same answers. I would just trust the ones who say you won't get banned by Steam or the mods, but if EAC picks something up (we can't answer how it goes about that), and you get banned for it, there is no unbanning it. So do it at your own risk, that's all we can help you with.
-
Didn't you just ask this question on another thread a little while ago?
-
@SkeletalElite said:
You won't get banned for using custom icons, I've literally used them for years and thousands of hours. I only recently stopped using them because I want to contribute to nightlight and custom icons make it a pain to do so.
I really want to use them because they look cool, but I'm so scared of the tiny chance of my account being the one to get banned 😄

To stop people from DeMMRing <Old Rank had this issue and it was abused to go against baby survivors or baby killer\Newer players>
That makes sense, that used to be a big problem back in the day.
-
I just got annihilated by a nurse, I agree that she could use a little... editing with her add-ons, but not that much. I do agree that the game is reworking things and I kind of like them. I'm just not satisfied with the MM system, it's way too random. I wish the MM system was a little more put together and consistent but other than that, I can't complain about literally anything else at the moment. I don't even see anything wrong with the perks or the new perks that are going to release with the new chapter. You are right that people will never be 100% satisfied with the game.
-
I just learned what MMR is literally today and it is kind of suspicious that we can't see it right? Why can't we see it?
-
Every time I get hooked first and no one comes to save me, I wished I used Deliverance, it's only when I never use it is when I need it lol

I seem to recall rating changes for killer are a flat +10 per kill and -10 per escape, not affected by the difference between players' ratings. If that's not how it works anymore, then something changed in the last few months.
Too many changes going on, some of them aren't the best ones lol

Matchmaking uses SBMM, you have a hidden MMR value
@dugman said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3144368#Comment_3144368
To clarify how it works, you have a hidden Matchmaking Rating (MMR) that is character specific for killers and a rating as a survivor. As a killer it goes up when you kill a survivor and down if they escape out the gate (I think it doesn’t count hatches or disconnects but I’m not positive? 🤷♂️) and vice versa as a survivor. The bigger the difference in the ratings toward being an upset the bigger the shift, so if I’m a low rated killer and I kill a survivor with a high rating my MMR goes up a lot versus if I’m a high MMR killer and kill a low MMr survivor it will only go up a small amount.
Then when you click ready to go into a lobby it tries to pair you up with other players who have similar MMR if possible. Note that it’s not always possible to make a close match, though, depending on what’s avaialable the system might match you up in whatever slot is available rather than have to wait a really long time for a close pairing.
As I mentioned, every killer character in your roster has its own independent MMR. The first time you play a specific killer it gets assigned a starting MMR based on the average of your other already played characters and then for the first number of matches you play with them it goes up or down more quickly than later to try and get you in the rough bracket you belong.
In general the MMR rating itself seems to be a pretty good estimate for putting players together in the sense that when everybody is about the same MMR the match is “equally sweaty” all around. This was evidenced a while back when they were doing tests on matchmaking and the days they had the tightest MMR pairings were also the days people on both sides complained about having to really work for their wins. And on the flip side when the MMR was loosest or off entirely were the days you had the most blatant mismatches and stomps.
So in short MMR is a reasonable seeming rating to help the system try and pair you up in games it hopes will feel close. But often in the interest of expediency it will put you in a first available match to get you playing when closer matches aren’t around.
Thank you guys for being helpful, well my MMR level needs improving upon then if I'm getting these kinds of teammates 😂😅

@Junylar said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3142705#Comment_3142705
Why would that survivor go for the save? It's a choice between 3k and 4k here, you most likely won't finish all the gens with just two of you. Moreover, skill based matchmaking tells that only escapes matter, so it's the only good option for the other survivor to just go for the hatch/gates alone. Don't blame the players who try to play efficiently, blame the game design and SBMM.
Did I say they should go for the save? No, I said do something productive to get extra points, like totems?
-
I've definitely had that same situation happen though when I'm killer, and someone is refusing to do gens at all when I'm chasing someone else around for a few minutes. However you said "others" so does that mean there were more than 1 other survivor left? You could be doing something more productive than just waiting around? Totems or something?
