I'm a Pyramid main (yes I changed my mains because he's actually viable, but still play bubba and hag), and I'm rank 2 and 4 pips (not 1 but almost, that's when I lose because of something, since destroying noobs gives black pip and that time you find a good team after ages you're playing the wrong killer...),
and I'm waiting in lobbies for survivors, hoping good survivors.
I live in Italy, Rovigo near the town centre, and have a good ping and no other programs open.
After waiting 2,3,4 minutes even, with cross play active because if not it's even more time wasted, I find potato survivors, that I destroy really ezly and leave me with a sense of WASTED time.
The ONLY fun I'm actually having is in private 1 vs 1s in the dbd scrims discord server, so in KYF, because lobbies take ages to find, survivors are always bad and still in the evening I don't see any good survivors, after dodging multiple lobbies and seeing their hours.
And, even with "some" survivors, every match 1 dud ######### dces, or either suicide, and the match is ######### ruined.
PLS BHVR, DO SOMETHING FOR PLAYERS' BEHAVIOUR, AND PUT MMR ON, BECAUSE THIS lobby simulator IS UNBEARABLE!
Alright, I've had enough to play against noobs and waiting ages
ALL TIMES OF THE DAY NO MATTER WHAT
Unless it's 1am and then only good players somehow remain...
I'm MAYBE coming back mid chapter patch, I've had enough Mathieu, it's just too much frustration for me
Ok bye

It’s only not considered tunneling if after the survivor is unhooked, they must be allowed to fully heal and not be hit or downed again until all three other survivors have been hooked once. You are not allowed to hit or hook survivors unevenly. Anything else is tunneling and is super toxic

It is pretty insane how much more BP you can get as killer vs as survivor. That definitely needs to be balanced out a bit. With BBQ an 3, 4 or even 5 cakes I was getting ~200K BP per match. Even with cakes you’ll be lucky to hit 100K as survivor unless you’re running WGLF and actively trying to get your stacks
-
It’s definitely my #1 complaint about the game. It’s been complained about on this forum countless times but we’ve heard nothing from the devs about it. I don’t think they have any incentive or desire to lessen the grind. The ridiculous grind forces people to play more hours and and thus increases the chance they’ll spend money on DLCs or cosmetics. The only thing that will force a change is if they see data showing that the grind is turning people off from playing and spending money. Apparently that hasn’t happened yet

Wow, you may be the most biased individual I have ever encountered on this forum. Even more so than Sluzzy in my opinion. Every thread you are in is basically the exact same response you have given 1000 times in other threads. I just hope one day you will be able to enjoy this game for what it is. Not just blindly looking for things to be irritated about. Good luck in your future games.
agree. 100% troll posts to trash killers. Maybe they would have more fun playing against bots with crappy AI who let them escape every game

I used to be against this but now I think its a good idea.
Devs. PLEASE curb stomp killers who camp. Ruin their entire lives by changing how it works. Make hooks teleport or something. 90% of campers do it just to ruin the experience and be as big of a jerk as they possibly can and thats all they do it for.
FIVE cakes in play just now and one of you clowns face camped me for no reason and I died with 4k points. What is wrong with some of you? At the last second a Leon tried to save me and this absolute trash Legion actually STILL pursued me after downing Leon. God forbid I get to play in the match AT ALL.
I know this move will hurt people who don't even camp but oh well. Jerks always have to ruin everything for everyone else. Kinda like Pyramid Head being able to see cages auras. Playerrs whos sole intent is to try and ruin someones game abused it and it got taken away.
Of course killers never have to face sweaty rank 1 4-man SWF on comms with flashlights whose sole intent is to ruin the killer’s game. I’m fine with punishing camping if SWF also gets nerfed into the ground.
I play both sides enough to know that both sides are going to face unfun situations. It won’t change until the balance problems in the game are fixed, which who knows if that will ever happen.
If what some survivors say is true and camping is a rampant problem, then the law of averages suggests that you should get an easy escape 3 out of every 4 matches. If you’re always the one getting downed first, then you should work on not being the first one to get downed.
-
People shouldn’t complain about Spirit when they face me - I’m pretty bad with her 😂 I think she does take some skill to play and most people who complain about how OP she is probably haven’t tried playing as her against good survivors who know how to counter her.
-
I’m happy that there are so many players now and honestly I want the game to be around for many more years. Congrats to BHVR for the success! Now they just need to get a bit better on not breaking the game with each new chapter :)
-
It would be one thing if the complaints were about aspects of the game other than its playability. People have every right to be pissed if the changes made have made the game unplayable on certain platforms. When a game is released for sale on a specific platform, the customer should have every expectation that the game will work on that platform indefinitely. If I knew before purchasing a game that the content and features would be altered in such a way as to make the game unplayable at some point in the future, I would not purchase the game and I certainly wouldn’t dump any money into cosmetics or DLCs. Customers have every right to demand that either the game be fixed or their money refunded, including all purchases on cosmetics or DLCs.
I play on PC so fortunately I haven’t had to deal with the playability issues (in fact it runs better than it has in the past, so certainly no complaints from me!) but I definitely feel bad for those who are playing on consoles like Switch and PS4

I got 500K BP and 1,000 shards. No issues on my end

I personally don’t like using NOED because it feels like a cheap way to get kills, but I think it is a decent and somewhat balanced way to punish survivors for ignoring a secondary objective in order to genrush. Especially against coordinated SWF teams, most killers are going to struggle against a genrushing strategy. The threat of NOED helps slow down the game a bit if survivors are forced to spend time on another objective, and if they ignore totems to slam out 5 gens right away then killer at least has a chance to secure a kill or two. The one thing that really sucks for solo Q survivors is no base kit totem counter, so you either have to use a perk slot on Small Game or just spend way too much much time looking for totems when they may already be gone.

Yeah the grind is AWFUL. Would be nice if the devs would do something about it but they are apparently busy fixing a lot of other issues at the moment. Also, the players numbers keep going up so there’s no incentive for them to reduce the grind despite it being complained about pretty regularly on the forums.

I’d be happy to trade NOED nerf for fixing keys. I agree NOED is OP and cheap - I don’t use it unless I need to help complete a challenge.

Why did they disable the DC penalty? I still saw occasional DCs before they disabled it, but it’s definitely way worse now that there are no consequences for a DC other than losing a few BP

I miss old Billy. I mained him before the nerf but now I only play him if there’s a daily challenge for him. Every single one of his add-ons is terrible and he’s just no fun to play :(

Dont get me wrong some P3s are good but i feel like it means nothing and I can say most are toxic and tee bag at the gate, but im just curious what does it mean to you guys?
I have Claudette and Elodie at P3 and I’m neither toxic nor good. I’m actually pretty bad at survivor.

You're playing a ranged killer who's bad against round loops and high wall loops, and playing her with an addon that only gives her one shot and blatantly hindered you for the entirety of this clip. You were overeager on all of your throws - if you had waited to get closer so they couldn't immediately turn the corner while you were charging, or waited until you could force a pallet drop and threw at that, or just stuck to her and forced the M1 instead of continually dropping chase to reload your single hatchet, you would have gotten her eventually. There were a lot of pallets in that area, but you were exhausting them, and you can play over pallets anyway.
And then you ragequit because the other survivor was able to do a gen, in a situation where there's only two survivors left, both are injured, one is running away from you, and the other still has to do another full gen? Yeah, no, this one's on you.
I’m a killer main and I agree. You didn’t play very well. Not a problem with map design
-
I agree about the dislike of the new corn maps. I used to actually like with the old ones as killer, but it’s now WAY harder to see through the corn and auras are also impossible to see
-
I’ve been playing a lot less lately. I really haven’t noticed an issue with bugs (probably because I don’t play that much and I don’t a wide variety of killers), but it’s more been me getting really tired and frustrated with the grind. It’s gotten to the point where you need countless hours to get the perks you want on different killers/survivors. Really de-motivating for me
-
I’m just here to upvote yet another post about how awful the grind is. We need to keep pushing on this until the devs do something about it!
-
@MojoTheFabulous said:
The longer the grind, the more time people keep playing. The longer people play, the more time they have to be enticed to buy DLC and cosmetics.
Yep, this is exactly it. The devs aren’t stupid - in their view it’s the best way to keep people playing and spending money on the game. It’s not because they’re evil or stupid or hate the players, it’s simply a business decision. If it turns out to be a bad business decision because they start losing players or turning away potential new players, that’s the only thing that will force a change.
-
I hope I’m wrong, but the silence from the devs on this topic tells me they’re not going to do anything about the grind. There have been so many threads and complaints about this for so long, there’s no way they’re not at least aware that a lot of people hate the grind. Given that they are certainly aware of the complaints, they have four options 1) tell us they’ve heard the complaints and they’re going to do something about it (hasn’t happened yet, hope it does happen eventually but I think it’s unlikely); 2) tell us they’ve heard the complaints but explicitly state they’re not going to do anything about it (won’t happen, will piss off community too mucin): 3) don’t say anything about the topic and then surprise us later with a change to make the game less grindy (probably ain’t gonna happen); and 4) ignore the topic and not change anything. I think the last option is the most likely. They know they’re not going to make a change, so they will avoid pissing off the community more by avoiding telling us that they’re not going to make a change to the BP or bloodweb system. I hope I’m wrong, but with the feedback not receiving any public response from BVHR for this long it seems like the most likely outcome. I think the only thing that will force a change here is if they start losing players and revenue

In the early days, it made sense: There were a few killers and a few survivors. That was five years ago. Keeping with a damn-it-all 3-month schedule to release new chapters, there are just too many perks to continue the 3-tier mechanic. For example, I'm 46 webs past 50 on a killer and have yet to see Whispers.
Three tiers are just too much anymore, especially with the little blood points made each match toward that goal. Survivors come out of a match with enough points for two-four things on a bloodweb and that's it. The webs in higher levels are so big with what little bloodpoints are made and that's even before talking about perk tiers.
BHVR could at the least reduce the tiers to two and not three. I'm not saying to restrict them to tier 2 as in the current state, I'm saying to not have a 3rd tier. The perks maintain their strength or weakness as currently is, but would then be the second tier and not a third. First tier you could make 75% as effective, for starters, and tweak it from there. Perhaps 68.4% as effective as tier 2, I'm not sure, but three tiers is too much anymore.
Perks tiers need to be gone entirely. Literally no reason for them to exist other than make the grind worse
-
There have been countless threads on the forum about how awful the grind is but I’ve seen/heard no plans from the devs to address it unless I missed something (I admit I don’t follow the game news super closely). I’m sure they are aware people are complaining about it but who knows if/when anything will actually be done. I’d like to remain optimistic and hope that they are at least considering the feedback. I’m sure in their view there are pros and cons to keeping things unchanged, but a nice compromise in my mind (and many others’ as well) is to get rid of perk tiers which have no apparent purpose whatsoever except to make the grind worse especially now that there are so many perks in the game

I personally either farm or at least go easy on the remaining survivors and let someone get hatch if there is a DC. If you want to curbstomp the poor survivors that are left hanging when one or more of their teammates DC’s, it’s definitely not against the rules but my personal opinion is that’s kind of scummy

After playing killer for 6 rounds I realized just how hard being killer is. I am so sorry for ever doubting what you killers say. I have learned my lesson. Much love from a survivor main. This concludes the killer/ survivor meeting for today😜
Thanks for your honesty. Of course there are always going to be a few easy matches as killer especially in lower ranked when you play against solo potatoes. But if you go up against competent survivors, it can be quite stressful and at times not enjoyable at all. Now we just have to get all the other survivors who talk about how easy killers have it to also try it at least once!
-
I hate it as killer. Nothing worse than hearing a gen being worked on above or below you, knowing you have to walk across half the maps to get to a place where you can go up or down a level. By the time you get there, gen is done and/or survivor is long gone. Rinse and repeat…
-
The grind is the thing I dislike the most about the game. I’ve been very unmotivated to play lately because the grind is so demoralizing. I play for a few hours and get next to nowhere with the BP I earned. Sadly, I don’t think anything will be done about it until the game starts losing players.
-
You know a killer is pretty fine if it’s getting 50% “(killer is OP needs nerf now”) and 50% “killer is terrible needs buff” threads upon release 😂

Is it just me? Anytime I get in a game it's all console players about 90 percent of the time. It feels like very few PC players are left. Did they all just decide to opt out of cross platform? Last time I did that, I kept getting in the same lobby of five people for three games straight. Or, did the devs burn that many bridges because they won't listen to criticisms about how buggy, broken, and unbalanced the game is? It's so obvious the devs don't even play the game. I get it that Behavior as a company has to make money to pay themselves, their employees, and whatever other bills they need to pay. I'm only playing currently because the rift has decent rewards this time around, but the game is still crap.

While the auto-ban feature is still being developed and we don't have details to share yet, you can be assured that as long as people play within the game rules, they won't get banned, and I'm sure offenses that require video evidence will still require said proof.
You can check the game rules here if you have doubts: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules
While this is reassuring to some extent, I believe this auto-ban system is going to encourage more toxicity rather than reduce it. Now players know that they can potentially get people to be reviewed for ban, even if they did not against the rules, simply by spamming reports against someone. It’s only going to increase the amount of reporting for non-reportable things and lead to an even more toxic environment, IMO. If this system does end up getting implemented, one thing that would make me feel much better about it is the potential for players to be banned if they are constantly reporting people for non-reportable things. That would be an effective way to help reduce the toxicity
-
I’d rather save all my sweaty and un-fun addons for after the auto-ban system takes effect. I want to see how much of a disaster this new reporting system is going to be.

Are the devs going tondo something about the grind needed to get all the perks right now?
I mean, i have all killers p3 and almost full perks, but i startednin 2016, so i dint feel the problem, but i can easly see ir when look at my friends account who just started playing... i mean this is a scary amount of grind just to get all killer to level 50 and all the perks (not to mention prestige) and even more for survivors since there are even more perka for them...
Are devs working on something to make it easier?
If the devs are working on it or even thinking about working on it, they sure aren’t saying anything about it. It’s very sad that they are focusing on things like this proposed auto-ban system which is addressing a very small problem that already has multiple solutions in place, while ignoring a giant problem that makes the game miserable for current players and a huge turn-off for new players, and is constantly complained about on forums.
At minimum they should remove perk tiers, which exist for literally no reason other than to force you to grind more. This is something I see proposed constantly on the forums -have the devs said anything about it even if it’s “no, we’re not going to make a change to perk tiers”?
Another nice change would be to take a look at item/offering usage and eliminate the items and add- ons that barely get used (I’m sure there are plenty given the large number of useless items/add-ons) and then make the blood webs smaller or reduce the BP cost for everything. The grind is absolutely ridiculous

Whilst I agree disconnects and first hook suicides suck, your comment just points out how flawed this system will be due to false reports.
It is explicitly stated (on the forum and I think the report page in-game) that you shouldn't report for disconnectors, given the penalty system already handles that, and I'm also not even aware of suiciding on hook is a report-able offense (someone correct me if I'm wrong). You never know the context anyway, someone could have something more important to deal with IRL, and simply go AFK and their character will die as a result.
yes - this exactly. Proves the point that people are going to be submitting report for things that either are already being addressed through an existing system or things that are supposedly not bannable offenses
-
If there will also be bans for abuse of reporting people for legit gameplay tactics, then I could be on board with this new system 😀
-
This autoban system proposal seems like it has a ton of downside and very little upside. Based on my experience, a vast majority of the true toxicity in the game comes from the post-game chat, and the devs have already done things to address that. The other bannable stuff that happens in-game is very rare. It’s a guarantee that stuff like camping, tunneling, slugging, etc that are all supposedly non-bannable are going to get reported on a massive scale using this new system. The devs are responding to complaints about “toxicity” with this sledgehammer approach while seemingly ignoring the reality that a lot of complaints about “toxicity” are really complaints about things that they have already said many times are legit strategies. While this system may indeed better help prevent in-game bannable stuff, it’s also has the possibility of creating a gigantic new problem of people getting reported constantly for legit gameplay tactics
-
I don’t go out of my way to play toxic as killer, but it feels so good to 4K a super sweaty SWF bully squad that spends all their time flashing saving, hook sabotaging, etc. When it becomes apparent that it’s going to be that kind of match, I throw all “fair play” out the window and camp, tunnel and slug with delight.

You've hit the killer wall man. The matchmaking system is putting you against red rank teams and general survivors likely with 1000's of hours.
It's something most people go through when getting into killer and you have a few options on how to deal with it.
- push yourself and try your best to work through it, yes it will be difficult and stressful but you'll get better and learn after every match.
- Derank to go against survivors nearer to the level where you're at now and stay there till you get enough experience to be able to push up further in rank.
- Switch to mainly survivor for a while, this will be able to give you more of an insight into what the survivors are thinking/doing and what plays they will try and also give you more map and game knowledge to be able to play killer better as well.
Hope any of this helps and I'm sure you'll get there <3
Yup - this happened to me too. Basically I now have to purposely de-pip or only play killer in the daytime to avoid getting SWF sweat squads against whom I stand zero chance. I realize I could get better if I devoted a lot more time to the game but I really don’t have the time to be more than a casual player. I need to start purposely camping and slugging in my matches so I don’t pip up - sad but true!
-
If I’m in a match where it seems like it’s going to be a fairly easy game, I will go out of my way not to tunnel. But if I’m in a tough match against experienced survivors I know that tunneling might be necessary to get one survivor out early and make the rest of the game easier.
-
@fr0sty1223 said:
The biggest issue with things like camping and tunneling is that it ######### over everyone in the game and no one has fun because of it. The killer just stands afk at the hook and de pips, the person getting camped isn’t allowed to play and also de pips, and the other 3 survivors don’t get to play an actual game and also only black pip at best but more often then not they de pip because the killer refuses to interact with them in any way. By keeping camping in the game it encourages toxicity, hate messaging, and creates and divide in the community.
I’ve camped, tunneled and slugged in matches and doubled pipped in those matches. I also did plenty of chases, gen defense, etc. Yeah if you hook one guy and camp him until he dies you will likely +0 pip at best, but these are legit and necessary tactics that killers should be using in the right situations.

My main is Bubba but I haven't played him as much since the rework.
But I know him quite well and I think here's the best tips I can give you.
- Learn how tight you can turn corners without hitting them. This is just practice but it's vital.
- Learn how to use charges. For me I always count the swings. 4 swings (then use a charge) another 3 swings (then use last charge). This helps me a lot since I haven't played him enough to gain muscle memory of his power yet.
- If a survivor is at a pallet with no window then just chase them. Start charging your power when your getting close or time it so that your power is fully charged when you reach the pallet (so if they drop it you'll immediately be ready to break it)
My build is Corrupt, Bamboozle, Pop and Tinkerer. You can change Corrupt and Pop for Ruin and Undying but I personally prefer the consistency of Pop/Corrupt.
Pay attention for two perks. Spine Chill and Spring Burst. These are the two perks that give me the most trouble. If someone has Spine Chill and your undetectable (tinkerer) walk sideways to it to avoid Spine Chill.
I play Bubba more than any other killer and there’s a lot of great advice on here so far, not sure I can add a whole lot of useful advice that hasn’t been stated already. The recommended builds are all very good. I always bring BBQ on any killer for BP. Like others have said, Bamboozle helps combat his greatest weakness which is windows. Pop is a great gen slowdown perk for him. I also like to bring Corrupt as it usually helps me get at least a couple downs and hooks before the first gen pops.
The way I like to play windows is to use Bamboozle on long loops. On short loops, try the get them to vault window early then start your chainsaw sprint and double back. It feels so good when they vault back over that window right into your saw :)

The survivors don't go afk, they stealth around the map, staying far away from unfinished generators. This can go on indefinitely, and as long as the survivors hide without touching gens the killer can't end the match.
If survivors go for too long without touching a generator, it's considered holding the game hostage and it is bannable.
Problem is that it’s so hard to prove that survivors are intentionally staying away from generators, even if you’re recording a game.
I agree there has to be a way to speed up the end of the game after 20 minutes or so. Some kind of mechanism to help killer find remaining survivors if they haven’t touched a gen within X amount of time. I had a match recently where I killed two survivors pretty quickly and the two remaining didn’t touch a gen for like 20 minutes. When I finally found them and downed them I let them bleed out. I will say that these types of matches are very rare, but super annoying when you get one
-
Countering stealth killers is like the whole point of the perk. I play Wraith quite a bit and have no issues with Spine Chill. It’s fine

I used to play Billy a lot before his nerf and I agree with other similar comments that the main issue is that his add-ons are trash

My point was about the Legion issue being 2 years ago and therefore not comparable - who knows if now the issue would have been bannable or not, impossible to say.
We are not banning for the bug with Breakdown, it's an acknowledged bug that will be fixed. It will be fixed because that's not what the perk is designed to do, nothing to do with slugging etc. And I'm definitely not painting it as a non-issue, I am very well aware of how serious our players take this particular issue.
As other people in this thread have mentioned, we also didn't ban for the bug with Tinkerer or Sloppy Butcher a while back either.
Was there ever an explanation for why the perk wasn’t just disabled until the bug is fixed? Seems like the most reasonable thing to do and it’s very frustrating that no explanation is given for why this common sense temporary solution hasn’t been put in place. Maybe an explanation was already given and I just missed it
