This isn't the definitive answer (because the Legion issue was 2 years ago, and things have changed a lot since then) but from what I remember with that particular bug, the matches were effectively held hostage as it took so long to mend. In this case with Breakdown matches can still end, the player will still bleed out even if they can't be hooked.
Why not disable the perk until the bug is fixed?
-
Allow selling useless items/add-ons/offerings (which is a large % of them). Even if you only got 10% of your BP back, it’s way better than having hundreds of these sitting in your inventory that you’ll never use
-
I wouldn’t use it 100% of the time if this game wasn’t insanely grindy

I don't understand how people can think Dead Hard is that amazing of a perk when even every basic attack is longer than it. Every killer has the ability to just hit all the way through Dead Hard NOT even including the latency issues. I know that the problem of DH comes from using it for distance but in that regard Sprint Burst is way better. Dead Hard is better than Sprint Burst only because of the i-frames that come in handy during very specific circumstances like dodging a hatchet or something like that. This is like the one thing I just really don't get.
I don’t get it either. I’m not a great killer and I find it very easy to deal with
-
I haven’t been paying that close of attention but have the devs said anything other than “yeah it’s a bug and we know about it”?
-
@Moundshroud said:
Dead Hard is fine. You can bait it out, or you can FORCE it out. There really is no difference. You just keep chasing them until you are so close they don't have a choice but use it or get hit. Then you follow them and hit them, a few seconds later.
I agree. Most survivors I play against run it and almost every time I down them immediately after they use it. Occasionally I will swing and miss but that’s my fault for timing it poorly

In an ideal world, SWF would not use comms for the sake of the spirit of the game. But this is reality so I'm not upset that people wanna chat with their friends. In fact I occasionally do it myself. I don't consider it cheating, but let's not pretend comms don't fundamentally break the game in the Survivors' favor.
This is the most reasonable comment I’ve read so far. Completely agree. I play killer and survivor pretty evenly. When I play SWF of course I’m going to talk with them - we game together for the social interaction. Fortunately for the killer we play against most of us are terrible :). At the same time, I also actively avoid SWF as killer because it is an unfair advantage that BHVR has not and probably will never balance. So I don’t blame killers for lobby dodging against SWF. Comms provide an unfair advantage and the only viable solution is to provide a buff or some other incentive for killers to go up against this unfair advantage.

I feel like since switching from Kate to Claudette that I've gotten a lot more hate directed my way. Often, comments are along the lines that I didn't do anything but hide the entire match, which is never true.
I play P3 Claudette a lot (I’m not a great looper so I rely more on stealth) and I don’t really get any hate
-
This seems like a case of either 1) extraordinarily bad luck, or 2) you need to do a better job of not being the first one caught. Spend a few of your next matches making a conscious effort to be stealthy at the beginning of the game. If the facecamping is happening all the time like you say, then as long as you don’t get caught first it should be GG EZ for you!
I can only speak for myself, but I don’t play against high rank killers most of the time and I rarely see facecamping. Killers will occasionally soft camp but Borrowed Time can counter that

100% agree with the Bloodweb issue. This game is grindy af and with each chapter they add it only gets worse, and it's like they are afraid of the BlOoDpOinT eCoNoMy and rarely gives double BP events etc.
It would be nice if we could sell back add-ons/offerings that are mostly useless. Even if was for only 10% percent of the BP, better than having hundreds of garbage add-ons that I will never, ever use

I used to play with a friend, but she got tired of the game and moved onto other things, but even when I played with her I would use it. It’s still incredibly useful being able to know exactly where everybody is and if the killer is near the hook.
My current build is Iron Will, Spine Chill, Kindred and BT. As I want perks that help me and my team. I was using We’ll Make It, but I’ve noticed more killers staying near the hook recently or teammates looping the killer at the hook, so I switched to BT.
Kindred is my baby. 😇
Great build - my favorite solo build too!
-
Nurse. I tried her once and never touched her again. I’ve played against some godly Nurses and I have a lot of respect for players who stick with her to get as good as they are

I main survivor and have ~1k hrs in and have always been in red rank. However my killer sucks absolute ass and especially when I play a weaker killer for daily or achievements, I sometimes get demolished by a team average rank 10.
It takes me extremely long to mentally prepare myself to queue for a killer match, and when I do get destroyed, I won't want to play in at least a few days. I feel utterly defeated when the survivors tbag me at the exit and type ez in the post game chat. I don't want to disable the chat tho- I love having interactions with other players.
I sometimes go afk and let myself derank for a bit to finally get myself together to play again, but as I inevitebly rank up, I run into very good (and toxic) players again that would humiliate me and make me question my existence.
So question for killer mains, how did you grow thicker skin and managed to stop caring about the match outcomes?
to start, dodge any lobbies if you suspect 3-4 man SWF. Some people will say “well then you’ll never get better” but unless you want to invest thousands of hours in the game you’ll never be able to compete with experienced SWF teams. IMO it’s just not worth the stress if you only intend to play the game causally
Also, avoid playing at peaks times as that’s when you’ll be matched up with mostly high-rank SWF sweat squads with thousands of hours in the game. Playing killer at non-peak times is way less stressful and more likely to get matched up against comparable skill level players, at least in my experience

Honestly after the Billy rework everything went downhill lmao
I feel this way too. Pre-Billy-nerf was the best point in time in the game for me. I was a happy Billy main and now I never play him after he got nerfed into the ground. I really can’t think of anything that has gotten better since the Billy nerf (maybe Bubba buff?) but can think of a lot of things that have gotten worse!

I play on a PC with GTX 1080 and it actually seems to run better for me than it did before the update. Skill checks are way smoother which has been nice. Unfortunately we still have the awful HUD to deal with...

Is it just to showcase what asinine thing is next in the pipeline? Because it sure as hell isn't for them to take criticism and feedback.
I mean, we all went into this knowing that they don't listen to the community before making changes to the game, but it doesn't feel like they know that. If you don't take feedback from your PTB, then there's no point in even putting out a PTB in the first place.
Oh, except to use the community as QA because you don't want to hire a dedicated, professional, and competent QA team.
Have they ever taken feedback from the PTB and acted on it before pushing the live version?
Honest question.
It’s to give us a preview of all the bugs and unnecessary changes that will get pushed live even after everybody complains about them
-
I played two matches as survivor today. The first one fortunately the killer was nice and let us escape when a teammate DC’ed. The second match I DC’ed after the killer missed but GIANT HITBOX registered the hit anyway. I’m done until this gets fixed
-
@v4lor said:
Reminder that they also "heard the feedback" from the PTB and nothing changed soooo.. don't count your chickens before they've hatched.
Exactly. Everything they are hearing now is the exact same feedback they were getting in the PTB and they ignored it. This could have been easily avoided. I’m hopeful that this is a wake-up call for the devs and they will make the changes/fixes being asked for by the community.

I mean, yeah it is dumb that they didn't listen to all the feedback for the new UI and so on, but DBD is their game. They can make any changes they want. If players don't like the changes, they need to show it by not playing. That is the only thing we can do. If the game loses players, BHVR loses $. As long as people keep playing and spending $, they are gonna keep doing whatever they want, or what they think is best for the game.
Completely agree, but it would be nice if BHVR would at least stop pretending to care about community input. I would rather have them just be honest and say “we’re going to do what we want, deal with it” than their current dishonest approach which is to solicit feedback, tell people they are listening to feedback, and then ignoring that feedback
-
@UMCorian said:
The UI is not horrible, but the developers egregious disregard of the overwhelmingly negative feedback it got all throughout PTR and beyond was.
I think this sums up why most people are upset. UI itself isn’t making the game unplayable or unenjoyable - there are plenty of other issues. It’s the fact that BHVR spent a bunch of time and effort changing something that was perfectly fine and nobody was asking to change while neglecting ongoing major problems with the game that the community were actively complaining about and asking to change. They also asked for feedback about the UI changes, but ignored the overwhelmingly negative feedback. All of this was a major slap in the face to the community and it’s not like it’s the first time BHVR has treated the community this way. It’s the pattern of complete disregard for community feedback that people are mostly angry about
-
@Fuzzels said:
"Pretty good job so far"
They dont believe theyve done anything wrong. They believe ignoring feedback and the community in general is ok. They will do with their game, what they want. And its going to eventually blow up in their faces.
I hate the new changes too, but it’s not blowing up in their faces yet, at least not in a way that is meaningful to them. Sure there’s plenty of outrage in the forums, but Steam charts show no drop in players after the update. Money is the only thing that will drive them to change. People need to actually quit playing and quit spending money on the game, and it doesn’t look like that’s happening yet
-
That doesn’t solve the issue with information being littered all over the screen rather than all neatly in one place like it used to be
-
Just adding my name to the list of people who hate the new UI.
It’s the most BHVR thing ever that they took one of the few parts of the game that was totally fine and nobody was complaining about, focused their resources into changing it for REASONS, turned it into a dumpster fire, asked people what they thought about it, were told by everyone that it was a dumpster fire, and then implemented the dumpster fire into the game anyway.

I mean did the New UI need a change?DId anyone really ask for it? This current patch the camera placement makes me have motion sickness please help reach out to the Devs the field of view makes me super sick and you cannot even look around like you used to. The camera placement seems way off and let also talk about hitbox hearing the full swing and getting hit with 43 ms Lobbies and on top of that its from 3 survivors away.
All i am saying is Devs please look at this. That is all on to playing killer to see how it feels.
the devs have proven beyond any doubt that they don’t care what you or anyone else thinks
-
When I play killer, I see console players DC more often than PC players. Since the DC penalties came back, I don’t see DC’s very often. Maybe once every 10 matches or so
-
”it’s really unfair how survivors take the backlash of a killers inability to play the game properly or fairly.”
SWF with comms is the survivors’ inability to play the game properly or fairly, and it’s the reason a lot of killers have to camp and tunnel to get even a single kill
Unless BHVR does something about the huge balance issues created by SWF with comms, survivors have no right to complain about camping or tunneling
-
Don’t get be the first one to get caught and if the killer is camping and tunneling do gens for the GG EZ win

Normally I'd agree but sounds are so ######### right now that Stridor ends up being a wasted perk slot.
My advice is to avoid phasing on healthy survivors as much as you can. If you can land the hit without phasing, the follow up should be pretty easy.
I’m pretty mediocre at Spirit and I’ve found this approach to help. Try to land the hit without it, then phase and use sound to lock in for the kill
-
I normally go out of my way to not tunnel or camp, with the following exceptions:
- Survivor brings key
- Survivor t-bags at windows/pallets
- Injured survivor who just got unhooked basically runs right back into me. I’m not going to just ignore you :)
-
For the long-term financial viability of the game, yes they need it. SWF encourages a lot more people to play and thus buy DLCs and cosmetics. When I play as killer I hate SWF, but I also realize there would be far fewer players without it. Playing survivor as SWF is much more enjoyable than solo, so I don’t want to see it go away
-
I’m a PC player and I’m happy to have the console players in the game. I’m very impressed with how skilled some of the console players are. No hate here!
-
@WeenieDog said:
Who knows, but I wouldn't hold my breath because its randomly picked.
I question whether it’s truly “random”. Most weeks it’s all garbage perks, and we almost never see decent perks, especially from licensed characters that can only be purchased with $$$
-
Lots of games are easier to play on PC than console. This is one of them. If you don’t like it then don’t play or turn off crossplay
-
Stealth is a major part of the game, and killers have perks/add-one to help them find hiding survivors. Not every survivor can be a pro looper. The friends I play with are pretty causal players who don’t have thousands of hours in the game. They’ll probably never be pro loopers, so stealth is the only viable option for them to have a chance. Don’t get upset for people playing the way they want to play as long as it’s not cheating or toxic. Figuring out how to find players who are hiding is part of learning how to play killer
-
Tunnel and facecamp
-
Devs continuing to ignore balance issues with matchmaking and SWF which are causing killers to quit or at least play less frequently.
-
I actually find good, balanced matches more frequently with crossplay on. I play on PC and with crossplay off I get a lot more 4-man SWF sweat squads
-
I don’t run NOED anymore, but I remember what it was like learning to play the game as killer. It’s incredibly frustrating and discouraging at first. You’re going to get all gens popped on you a lot and if NOED helps new killers feel a little less awful as they’re learning the game, I have no problem with it. For the health of the game we need people to learn killer, stick with it and get better. Eventually they will get better and learn to play without it, just like many others have
-
Tonight I’ve read threads about Undying change being a debilitating nerf and now reading about it being too OP. Sounds about right :)
-
@JPA said:
I'm kind of getting tired of playing teams who, beyond the obvious advantage of being in comms, also request one of the most OP maps in the game.
I mean, is victory even enjoyable when there's that many variables stacked in your favor? (Obviously they'll also be running at least 2 DS/UB, usually a key and maybe an OoO too if you're lucky. But let's try and limit the discussion to just map offerings for now).
Kinda sick of playing Ormond or Haddonfield.
Just DC during game load if they play a map offering

They can wait longer. I get dc's way more frequently then I dc so, survivors can keep waiting. BHVR needs to fix their game if they want queues to go down.
I agree with this. As a casual player who doesn’t play that frequently, I’m not interested in (nor do I have the time to) putting in hundreds of more hours so I can get slightly more competitive against 4-man sweat squads on comms with 1000’s of hours each (and still get crushed anyway). The solution is fixing matchmaking and balancing SWF, not forcing casual killers to suck it up and get crushed every other game because it’s so unbalanced. It’s not fun and it makes me not want to play at all
-
Hillbilly after his nerf. His add-ons are all useless now.

To be a well mannered killer you need to go to the corner of the map And cry yourself to sleep
/s
This. If you play killer you just have to get used to the fact that some survivor players will only feel like it was a fair game if you let them heal, do two gens, down and hook every other survivor before you go after them again. This will never change
-
Survivor - Iron Will (so I don’t get found so easily when injured) and Spine Chill (great against all killer but especially stealth killers). I’m not a great looper so I feel like these stealth perks help me more than some of the other meta perks.
Killer - BBQ is the only one I always use on every killer (mostly for extra BP but the aura reading after hooks is nice too). For other three perks slots it’s totally dependent on which killer I play

There are really good Totem Spots and really bad Totem Spots. Its fine. But nobody ever opens a Forum Thread about the good Totem Spots.
I agree - they shouldn’t all be super hard to find. But I do think there should be a minimum distance from any gens.
